By the end of this blog, you'll be well-equipped to create a personalized and effective home gym that motivates you to stay on track with your fitness journey. So, let's dive in and transform your home into the ultimate workout haven!
Tips to Choose the Right Gym Equipment for Your Home Gym
Choosing the right gym equipment for your home gym is essential to create an effective and enjoyable workout space. Here are some steps to help you make informed decisions when selecting home gym equipment:
Assess Your Fitness Goals:
Determine your fitness objectives, whether it's strength training, cardiovascular fitness, weight loss, or a combination of these.
Consider your workout preferences and the types of exercises you enjoy.
Allocate a Budget:
Set a budget for your home gym equipment. This will help you narrow down your options and prevent overspending.
Evaluate Available Space:
Measure the available space in your home gym area to ensure that the equipment you choose fits comfortably.
Prioritize Essential Equipment:
Start with the basics, such as a workout bench, dumbbells or kettlebells, and resistance bands. These versatile items can support a wide range of exercises.
Consider Cardiovascular Equipment:
Depending on your goals and preferences, consider adding cardiovascular equipment like a treadmill, stationary bike, elliptical machine, or rowing machine.
Compact options like foldable treadmills or under-desk ellipticals are suitable for smaller spaces.
Explore Multi-Functional Equipment:
Look for multi-functional equipment, such as power racks or home gyms, which can accommodate various exercises in one unit.
Research Brands and Suppliers:
Research reputable gym equipment brands and suppliers. Read reviews and seek recommendations from fitness enthusiasts.
Check for warranties and customer support to ensure you have options if issues arise.
Test the Equipment (if possible):
If you have the opportunity, test the equipment in person at a store or gym to ensure it meets your comfort and usability criteria.
Consider Used Gym Equipment:
If you're on a tight budget, consider buying used gym equipment. Make sure it's in good condition and from a reliable source.
Ensure Safety Features:
Safety should be a priority. Ensure that the equipment you choose has safety features like safety locks, sturdy construction, and non-slip surfaces.
Plan for Accessories and Maintenance:
Don't forget to budget for accessories such as mats, mirrors, and storage solutions.
Plan for regular maintenance to keep your equipment in good working order.
Create a Well-Balanced Setup:
Aim for a well-balanced home gym setup that allows you to target different muscle groups and engage in various types of workouts.
Seek Expert Advice:
If you're unsure about your choices, consider consulting with a fitness trainer or expert who can provide personalized recommendations based on your goals and needs.
Start Small and Expand Over Time:
You don't need to buy all your equipment at once. Start with the essentials and gradually expand your home gym as your fitness journey progresses.
Personalize Your Space:
Make your home gym motivating and comfortable by adding personal touches like inspirational posters, music, and good lighting.
Remember that the right gym equipment for your home gym should align with your fitness goals, space, and budget. By carefully considering these factors and doing your research, you can create a home gym that helps you achieve your fitness objectives effectively and sustainably.

Headcanon that Slider and Ice love how smol pocket sized Maverick is. They do every thing they can to make sure they can always lift him up and plop him on their... hip 😏. So even when they have a full desk job, they are still the fittest of admirals around because y'know. And Maverick gets hot for how they can manhandle him whenever but he likes to give them a challenge sometimes so he gets really good at squiriming out of their hold.
*taking notes* manhandling maverick…
I have my own HC that Slider eventually becomes a commercial airline pilot, but even then…Just six foot something buff ex-navy commercial pilot and his maverick backpack- I mean personal carry on.
Slider is taller than Ice so he’s got more leverage for some more creative ways of carting Maverick around, though Ice still gets his entertainment in.
Maybe a year or so after TOPGUN and they’re bored on a carrier, they figure out they can play helicopter with Maverick because the guy just doesn’t get motion sick. They take turns spinning around whilst holding Maverick by his ankles and for some reason they guy finds it fun. There’s also no gym onboard so after a while the running gets boring and they figure out Mavericks around the same length as a barbell. And whilst he’s no where near the weight any of them lift on the regular, they all have great core because he moves around. It becomes normal to see Maverick sitting cross legged on Slider’s back as he does push ups or for him to be clinging to Merlin’s torso as the RIO does squats. Ice of course is the only one who’s allowed to bench him because of the…hand holds he has to use.
Eventually Maverick gets bored of being the equipment all the time so he decides to start getting his own back. Merlin is his own personal climbing gym, that guy is enormous. But he gets Ice to support his legs as he tries to learn to do near verticals push ups and hand stands.
And when they’re back on shore and all alone, there’s other less innocent ways of making use of their size difference…

anecdotes about yibo during btf filming by his co-stars / video source / :
Lu Xin : i really admire him, because we all know that he is very different as a top star. At the time we were shooting, in the gobi desert, all the actors will stay in tents and big stars like yibo will have their own exclusive lounge. but he only stayed in his lounge area for the first day and never stayed there after that. he stayed with us everyday in our tent, we stay and eat together everyday. we would chat and spend our private time together.
so how did he join us the first time? we were having lunch and grabbed our meals, and ate, so when yibo finished his shots he was supposed to go back to his lounge area and eat. but he came to our tent and stood there. he was a bit embarrassed because there was no seat for him. so he was standing there, pretending to dust his clothes. he had been there for a while and we called him over, grabbed a chair for him. his team asked him if he was eating here or in his area, and he said to bring his food here — i’m eating here. so he stayed in that small corner with his food and ate. I was like — come on, make room for him so all of us started to eat together.
from then on, almost every meal of every day, we all ate together. yibo wouldn’t eat much — his leftovers all fed to those guys — everyday yujia would ask him — yibo are you still gonna eat this? So Yujia ate a lot of Yibo’s food. Yibo never ate extra food. He only ate the food required by his fitness instructor. Very impressive.
Yujia : How well did yibo get along with us? We didn’t have a lot of gym equipment in the hotel, so we’d go outside to train. When we went, people would rarely recognize us as actors. But if yibo went.. yibo wouldn’t usually go to commercial gyms,
Lu Xin : because it would be troublesome, there might be a commotion
Yujia: But he doesn’t care, he asked — where do you guys train? I’ll go there too. There were other people in the gym, he would wear a hat. He just wanted to spend more time with us. So he would get along with us better. He doesn’t have idol baggage. He was really easygoing.
Lu Xin : exactly. he trained with us all the time. for him, going to public places is inconvenient. So he would always wear a hat and mask. Just think about it, it’s hard to exercise with a mask on. But he’d keep it on for more than 2 hrs and that was impressive.
Yujia : Yeah, he was very warm.

History time with Auntie Zinnia!
Its time to talk about the Hoenn tribes! Not all of them cause there's, like, so many but the big three ones. The ones that serve as the basis for much of modern religion in Hoenn. I don't have enough time/space to tell you every little detail of the Tribes' histories (no matter how much I want to) so I'll just give you a short summary of their dealio and what they're doing in modern day.
The Draconids
Lets start with the easy one. Everyone's at least heard of the Draconids, if only because of my habit of ending up on the news for... a variety of reasons. These days we largely stick just to Meteor Village but back in the day before the Normanssons, we had villages all over Hoenn, but mainly centered around Meteor Falls and the surrounding area. We worship Lord Rayquaza, passing down stories and myths of it and other Legendaries through oral tradition, and are masters at training Dragon Types. Its literally in our blood (Not, like, we dated Dragons in the past or something just that we spent so much time around Dragon Types that some of the Dragon Energy rubbed off on us so now we get fangs).
Draconids were also masters of construction, building Sky Pillar without any modern day construction equipment. Of course, we had help from the orginal Sootopolitans who are an entire nother can of worms that we don't have time to unpack right now.
The Oceanids
The Oceanids were a Tribe that ruled the waves of Hoenn. Their mastery of water type Pokemon was, and still is, unrivaled as was their mastery of sailing. They also created some of the oldest known maps of Hoenn's various islands which are still fairly accurate to this day.
If you've run the Gym Circuit you've probably passed through Pacifidlog Town, the Oceanids had dozens of floating towns just like that. Most of them are gone now but Pacifildog is still around and has a strong culture and tradition.
The Gaiads
While the Oceanids are in tune with the Water and the Draconids are in tune with the Sky and Dragons, the Gaiads are in tune with the earth. Mt. Chimney was their domain and as a result they were masters at utilizing mountainous terrain to their advantage.
They made quite a lot of pottery and ceramics in general, which is a large part of how their culture is preserved. Before they became commercialized tourist spots, the hot springs of Lavaridge were very important to the Gaiads. So, you know, maybe think about that next time you take a dip.
Like the Oceanids with Water types and the Draconids with Dragon Types, the Gaiads had an affinity for Ground Types.
//OOC: Oceanid Lore inspired by posts from @accessabilityanon (I'd link them but, uh, I kinda lost them. Sorry)

5. Smash into the door and shout: "Fuck, it hurts!"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
KIM KITSURAGI - "What is this place?" The lieutenant stares at the dusty training equipment.
"It's an adventure!"
"It's the netherworld. Beyond the veil."
"Looks like a gym to me."
"No idea, Kim... but my head hurts... my head hurts *bad*."
"I think this may be the Artemitep's Boxing Club For Young Athletes."
KIM KITSURAGI - "We don't *have to* explore an abandoned gym, you know. Besides, no one's been here in ages..."
"I doubt the electricity still works... Good thing we have a flashlight on us. Don't forget to take it out of your bag before we move on."
PERCEPTION (SIGHT) [Medium: Success] - Some specks of dust shimmer in a faint beam of daylight falling from the window. Other than that, the room is dark.
INLAND EMPIRE [Trivial: Success] - An eerie feeling rises in your chest...
"What if there's a *reason* why no one's been here for ages..."
"Let's just keep going, I'm sure it's just a regular abandoned house, nothing mysterious here."
KIM KITSURAGI - "Yes, because it's *closed*..."
"No need to look for *supra-natural* explanations where a banal one will do. Now, let's move on, shall we?"

Tumblr media
The poster says: "Citius* *Fortis*... The rest is worn off.
Tumblr media
Smells like leather and sweat.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SHOT PUT BALL
A ball used for playing shotput. You feel like you should hold on to this and make good use of it. To sell such beautiful, old school sports equipment would be a sin.
Tumblr media
Worn out wallbars. They look unsafe.
Tumblr media
BARBELL - A barbell lies on the floor. The colour has worn off its weight plates.
PHYSICAL INSTRUMENT [Trivial: Success] - It's 60 kg. Your triceps hum at the sight of these weights. Show the world what kind of beast it's dealing with. Lift them.
VISUAL CALCULUS [Easy: Success] - There are no collars on the barbell. This is a safety hazard.
INLAND EMPIRE [Easy: Success] - Why does it feel so familiar?
Is this familiar because I'm a weightlifter?
"Look, Kim, it's a trap. There are no collars on the barbell."
[Physical Instrument - Legendary 14] Lift the barbell.
[Leave.]
INLAND EMPIRE - No, it's not that... It's the stale smell of rubber, the squeaky sound of sneakers, your bruised knee against the mat. And a whistle... then the feeling is gone.
LOGIC [Easy: Success] - It's just a memory.
ENDURANCE [Easy: Success] - A memory from another life -- when you were young and fit.
2. "Look, Kim, it's a trap. There are no collars on the barbell."
KIM KITSURAGI - "You're right, the weights may fall off. Better not touch it then."
"What kind of a bastard would just remove the collars? It should be a felony."
"Actually, I don't really care about safety hazards."
KIM KITSURAGI - "It would be a violation of EPIS safety regulations if the gym was still operating. But it isn't. No one's supposed to come here anymore."
Tumblr media
We're going to skip this check for now, partially because it's very low but mostly because I can't put two videos in one post.
4. [Leave.]
Tumblr media
KIM KITSURAGI - "It's dark," the lieutenant states the obvious.
"And the flashlight works a lot better if you *hold it in your hand*."
"Fair point. Yes, totally obvious."
"Flashlights go *in* hand?" (Stare at your hand uncomprehendingly.)
"Got it, Kim, no need to rub it in." [Leave.]
KIM KITSURAGI - "Yes," the lieutenant says. "You might even call it a *feature* of the universe, that you need to *hold* tools to *use* them."
"That makes so much sense."
"That makes no sense at all."
KIM KITSURAGI - "I'm sorry the fundamental laws of the universe don't seem to agree with you, detective, but the fact remains that it's too dark to see in here without the flashlight..."
"So come on. We've got work to do."
TUTORIAL AGENT - Some areas are inaccessible without your FLASHLIGHT. After you’ve acquired it, go to your INVENTORY and equip it in a HELD slot to continue exploring.
Ok, fine.

🎵Doomed Commercial Area
Tumblr media
The hallway is blocked by old windowpanes and debris.
Looks like the remains of the "24th Window" Repair shop.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A large demijohn full of strange liquid...
Is it potable?
Tumblr media
Wild animals stare at you in the dark, suffed and mounted.
Poor animals. No rest for their bodies after death.
Tumblr media
Airship rotors covered in spider webs. They remind you of blades.
Tumblr media
A naked mannequin torso. A strange yellow colour.
Tumblr media
Blue velvet, soft to the touch. Moth-bitten.
Tumblr media
Skis with "Slipstream" painted on the laminated top layer.
Tumblr media
Steel rotor blades bearing a "Slipstream" logo.
CONCEPTUALIZATION - Looks like someone tried to *reconceptualize* their business here.
I don't get it.
[Discard the thought.]
CONCEPTUALIZATION - Look: The skis and rotor blades both bear the same "Slipstream" logo. It seems likely that they started out making one, failed to turn a profit, and then pivoted to producing the other.
But the question is -- which did they start with, and which did they pivot to?
What a strange leap of imagination... And yet they still failed. How sad. [Finish thought.]
That's just speculation. We don't know anything for sure. [Finish thought.]
CONCEPTUALIZATION - That's a good question.
What a strange leap of imagination... And yet they still failed. How sad. [Finish thought.]
CONCEPTUALIZATION - Reality is ruthless.

"PRODUCTION SCHEDULE" FILAMENT MEMORY
The cube-like crisscross of filaments feels oddly fragile in your hand, its intricate structure covered in dust. Silver tape on the side reads: PRODUCTION SCHEDULE. NOTE! This filament contains information that can be read using a radiocomputer.
Well, Soona wanted us to get a filament from a *fridge*, but maybe this is related?
Tumblr media
Is this Emma's Atelier?
But where are the clothes it used to display?
Tumblr media
Scribbled across a notebook: "Developers of the most advanced RPG in the universe."
Tumblr media
PROJECT DREAD BOARD - Your flashlight slides over an old green chalkboard covered in scribbles, sketches and schemes like some ancient cave mural.
Some of the writing has faded with age, but you can still make out sections here and there; photos and drawings have been pinned to the board.
Inspect the drawings.
Inspect the photos.
Inspect the schedule.
Inspect the notes.
[Leave.]
PROJECT DREAD BOARD - These lithe, pointy-eared creatures appear to be different types of *welkins*. You make out autumnal *candle-welkins* casting wax-based magic...
*Translucent welkins* with organs shining under their skin, and even aether welkins -- hailing from the vast emptiness of sidereal space.
INLAND EMPIRE [Easy: Success] - Who are all those creatures? Fantasies of a tortured, feverish mind?
DRAMA [Medium: Success] - You should adopt one of those welkins as your *persona*. No longer a mere man -- but a welkin...
PROJECT DREAD BOARD - One of the welkins -- towering among the rest -- appears to be different, however.
Examine the welkin -- this is important.
I don't care -- step back.
PROJECT DREAD BOARD - It's Vaarahamira, a *high welkin* -- his face white and scarred like cracked marble. This is clearly a welkin supremacist. The note says: 'All non-welkin races will be purged.'
The huldur, the dweorg, the humans, and even headless men... all of them. Purged. Imagine a world filled *only* with welkin! Green welkin, dread welkin... and the high welkin to rule them all.
KIM KITSURAGI - The lieutenant can't help but comment: "An inordinate amount of time has gone into drawing these little welkin creatures..."
"Why would anyone spend so much time on this?"
"Who *are* these creatures? Who drew them? Are they *real*? I have so many questions..."
(Whisper) "One of them is a welkin supremacist."
"Well. This has been educational -- let's move on from the welkins."
KIM KITSURAGI - "Some people really *like* building a world, I think. Even if it's just for a game."
Hm.
2. "Who *are* these creatures? Who drew them? Are they *real*? I have so many questions..."
KIM KITSURAGI - "This looks like *concept art* for a project. It's not really real."
3. (Whisper) "One of them is a welkin supremacist."
KIM KITSURAGI - "Mhm... political commentary. That one has a great beard too..." The lieutenant nods at the welkin's facial hair.
4. "Well. This has been educational -- let's move on from the welkins."
KIM KITSURAGI - "Just look at those details. So much effort..."
EMPATHY [Easy: Success] - ...and for what? All gone.
2. Inspect the photos.
PROJECT DREAD BOARD - The photo collage depicts barren, icy landscapes wrapped in perpetual night. You see permafrost and glacial landforms, dead trees groaning under the snow.
Entire oceans have been frozen from shore to shore. There are pictures of settlements on dried up riverbeds, abandoned in a storm. Animal corpses in the dark, carcasses and bones.
ENCYCLOPEDIA [Easy: Success] - You see primitive oil rigs built into glaciers -- by *boreal dweorg* -- yurts under the snow, great mammoth-like beasts of burden...
ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Easy: Success] - Albeit dark and cold, this vision also feels cosy in its own way. Like eggnog, or morphine! A much needed respite from our own world.
PROJECT DREAD BOARD - A pinned postcard reads: 'The heat death scenario -- a desperate fight for geothermal energy engulfs the world as Wirrâl becomes untethered from its sun, drifting through the Universe.'
3. Inspect the schedule.
PROJECT DREAD BOARD - This is a monthly calendar from the year '50. Cryptic words like 'sprint', 'daily minime', and 'GPI' span the marker-drawn grid -- the grand scheme of production and money.
PERCEPTION (SIGHT) [Medium: Success] - It looks a bit like an academic calendar. Only much more *brutal*.
EMPATHY [Medium: Success] - Everyone is constantly teetering on the edge of the abyss. An abyss of *production*. These squares look orderly but beneath them is chaos, worry, pain...
ENCYCLOPEDIA [Medium: Success] - 'Minime' stands for a 'mini-meeting'. It's part of a bigger framework for managing work called R.U.N.. Station 41 tried to implement it a few years ago, but failed.
Keep reading -- what happened?
Step back and look at something else.
PROJECT DREAD BOARD - As time goes on, the numbers in the boxes grow rarer and rarer. The board becomes an empty snowfield in the final days... Only failure and regret dwell in this region.
KIM KITSURAGI - "Looks like they didn't make it." The lieutenant looks at the frigid ice field of nothingness.
+5 XP
PROJECT DREAD BOARD - A note in the bottom left corner of the chalkboard says: "SEE THE PROD. SCHEDULE FILAMENT FOR DETAILS."
4. Inspect the notes.
PROJECT DREAD BOARD - The handwriting is only partly legible, but you can still make out three slogans: 'Call in, tune out!', 'WIRRÂL UNTETHERED', and 'Heat death of the Universe'...
PERCEPTION (SIGHT) [Medium: Success] - The full text reads: 'Heat death of the Universe is the new black'. Another note says: 'The biggest advancement in role-playing systems since the Thirties'.
SHIVERS [Medium: Success] - Outside, a cold wind wraps the building in its bosom. Snowflakes in the wind. An old woman passes what the locals call the Doomed Commercial Area. She tries hard not to look at the bookstore windows. It's *unwise*.
5. [Leave.]
Tumblr media
FREQUENCY FIREPLACE - This old fireplace is covered in lines drawn in blue and red marker, the mesh spreading over the stone like blood vessels on alabaster skin. It looks ghostly and strangely ancient.
INLAND EMPIRE [Medium: Success] - A diagram for summoning some time-forgotten being? The symbols seem very esoteric.
CONCEPTUALIZATION [Medium: Success] - The whole thing resembles Kedran mosaic tiles. Very Pisantic.
Hold on, how do I know what Kedran mosaic tiles are supposed to look like?
What am I looking at?
[Leave.]
CONCEPTUALIZATION - History classes. Students with their textbooks open, studying the roots of our civilization. Those aquarelle-blue tiles looked beautiful in the sun.
2. What am I looking at?
FREQUENCY FIREPLACE - Radio frequencies, it seems. UKV123.6, UKV123.7, UKV123.9... some written notes too. Sparse and cryptic.
Radio frequencies for what?
FREQUENCY FIREPLACE - Unclear. It looks like a cardiovascular system, split into veins and capillaries. Very advanced.
So we're dealing with something medical here?
This must be an elaborate piece of art.
Of course... (Narrow your eyes.) The anatomy of *the curse*.
+1 Art Cop
FREQUENCY FIREPLACE - You think so? The web is comprised of radio stations. All lead back to one red heart, titled: The Game Master Frequency. A note says: 'This one can listen in on any station it wants?!'
HALF LIGHT [Medium: Success] - Looks like a surveillance programme...
INTERFACING [Medium: Success] - They must have had *massive* airwidth. These things don't come cheap.
Wait, who's the Game Master?
If it's a game, then who's playing?
FREQUENCY FIREPLACE - Someone very important.
AUTHORITY [Easy: Success] - The leader of a massive on-air game built by these people.
CONCEPTUALIZATION [Medium: Success] - A conductor for the hundreds of story threads that pass through the Game Master's Frequency.
If it's a game, then who's playing?
FREQUENCY FIREPLACE - Whoever decides to call in to a call-in station, it looks like.
PERCEPTION (SIGHT) [Medium: Success] - A list of names under the stations suggests people across *six isolas* would be playing: Mundi, Insulinde, Katla, Graad, Samara, and even Iilmaraa.
EMPATHY [Easy: Success] - All of this gone, left unrealized.
LOGIC [Easy: Success] - There's no way a little basement studio working *here* could pull anything like this off.
KIM KITSURAGI - "My god..." The lieutenant leans closer, his finger tracking the maddening rhizome. "It's as if the *less money* they had, the more ambitious their project became."
"Mhm. The cost of airwidth alone must have been huge."
"Why do you say that?"
KIM KITSURAGI - "Exactly." He nods at the calendar on the chalkboard, wiping his marker-stained fingers clean against his jacket. "This schedule -- I know *doom* when I see it. The company was running out of funding."
+5 XP
What else? (Squint at the lines.)
FREQUENCY FIREPLACE - Nothing. It's just lines on marble, an echo from times long gone. No one has used the fireplace in ages.
Tumblr media
MAINFRAME - A dusty radiocomputer sleeps on its wired frame, forgotten and unused. Its keyboard has a rectangular ON/OFF button; a piece of paper still hangs from the printer.
KIM KITSURAGI - "Another radiocomputer..." says the lieutenant, watching you circle around the machine. "Just sitting here without anyone in sight."
REACTION SPEED [Medium: Success] - What he means is that these things cost *money*. Why would anyone just leave it behind?
INTERFACING [Medium: Success] - This is the Rehm Civic radiocomputer, model RC5120, equipped with a Feld mainframe and a Rehm-compatible printer.
"Do you think I should turn it on?"
Turn on the machine.
[Step away.]
KIM KITSURAGI - "It's your call." He looks over his shoulder, then back at the machine. "You're in charge of this expedition, officer."
SAVOIR FAIRE [Medium: Success] - Of course you should turn it on -- don't you want to know what's on the filament?!
2. Turn on the machine.
MAINFRAME - The machine lights up like some prehistoric animal stirring from its slumber, revealing virescent PLAY and PRINT keys on the keyboard. The hatch on the machine's central compartment is wide open.
Look inside the compartment.
Press PLAY.
Press PRINT.
[Leave.]
MAINFRAME - It's empty like a beehive without its brood. Some cables have been left dangling, disconnected...
INTERFACING [Trivial: Success] - The filament you have would fit perfectly inside the compartment.
2. Insert THE PRODUCTION SCHEDULE.
MAINFRAME - Like a smooth drawer, the filament slides into place. On the keyboard, the PLAY key starts blinking.
+5 XP
3. Press PLAY.
MAINFRAME - The speaker comes to life, static seeps through the machine's planar magnetic driver. An old lady greets you, her voice sounds a hundred years old...
Tumblr media
EAST-INSULINDIAN REPEATER STATION - "Good morning, Fortress Accident on Rue de Saint-Ghislaine, this is East-Insulindian Repeater Station 1."
"Please repeat -- is this the production schedule?"
"Yvonne, it's me again! How are you?"
"Let's try the password for the production schedule."
"That's all for now." (Press OFF/SILENT.)
EAST-INSULINDIAN REPEATER STATION - "Good, thank you." It's not clear whether she recognizes your voice. "Please repeat, is this the production schedule?"
2. "Let's try the password for the production schedule."
EAST-INSULINDIAN REPEATER STATION - "Good. Please repeat the password."
Say: "After life -- death."
"A password? I'm really bad at passwords. Can you give me a hint?"
"Is it my birthday?"
"This is the police. Please open this thing."
"I don't know the password."
EAST-INSULINDIAN REPEATER STATION - "Good, I've unlocked the production schedule. After ending the call, please press PRINT to access the filament."
KIM KITSURAGI - "Really? She just used the same password?" The lieutenant seems almost disappointed to discover that, as he murmurs: "Maybe those radiocomputer guys aren't that paranoid after all..."
EAST-INSULINDIAN REPEATER STATION - "Fortress Accident, is there anything else I can do for you today?"
3. "That's all for now." (Press OFF/SILENT.)
EAST-INSULINDIAN REPEATER STATION - "Thank you and good bye," the old lady's voice disappears along with the static.
MAINFRAME - Tiles on the cube are still smouldering, casting the framework in a soft glow. Virescent PLAY and PRINT keys shine on the keyboard.
4. Press PRINT.
MAINFRAME - With a quiet determination the printer starts printing, a piece of paper unfolding like a hand-held fan. A black criss-cross of letters covers its surface.
5. Read the printout.
MAINFRAME - It's a project report written by the lead producer Andrew 'Andy' Schott about 'Wirrâl Untethered', a radio game developed by studio Fortress Accident.
The first few pages give an overview of the capital and workforce, while the rest of it seems to be a production schedule.
Read about capital... I want to know about *money*.
Read about the workforce... Who worked there, how long?
Skim through the production schedule, whatever it is.
Tear off the printout and throw it away.
MAINFRAME - In its short time of existence, Fortress Accident SCA managed to burn through truly *insane* amounts of money.
The first tranche of seed financing brought in 150,000 reál, but then came the *delays*.
Eventually the damage reached 400,000 reál with only half of the game finished.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Medium: Success] - Four-hundred thousand reál?! Jommaijoo, these guys knew how to party!
Gosh, where did they get all this money?
MAINFRAME - Let's just say it was a *real adventure* for their Igaunijan investor.
2. Read about the workforce... Who worked there, how long?
MAINFRAME - Fortress Accident employed 18 people, the bulk of the team composed of writers and concept artists. There were also radio programmers, sound engineers, a CEO, two marketing experts...
…and a single overburdened producer who developed a habit of popping Pyrholidon in the basement to escape his obligations.
ELECTROCHEMISTRY [Medium: Success] - But on the other hand, their obligations *were* piling up at an inhuman rate -- a rate that could only be amended by Pyrholidon.
LOGIC [Easy: Success] - Why did Fortress Accident have so many concept artists?
Wait, why did a *radio game* need so many artists?
I don't really care. (Look at the table of contents again.)
MAINFRAME - It didn't.
It didn't need so many concept artists?
MAINFRAME - No, definitely not. A few more producers could have come handy though -- especially when dealing with writers, some of whom routinely skipped work because of 'mental health issues' and extremely unprofessional sleep schedules...
One of them even managed to steal some valuable company property before skipping town for good.
3. Skim through the production schedule, whatever it is.
MAINFRAME - The production schedule depicts their glorious descent into bankruptcy.
Because of the concept artists?
Right, what happened?
MAINFRAME - No, not the concept artists. It wasn't even the writers, with their panic attacks and three-hour lunches...
It was impossible not to fail. The project was too large and no amount of money could satiate the ever-expanding ambitions of the development team.
They tried to make a 4,000,000 reál game with 400,000 in their bank account.
They thought they could bridge the gap with pure willpower and imagination.
They couldn't.
I could have bridged the gap.
Oh, so they were done in by their own ambition.
MAINFRAME - No. Even then success remained within an ever-narrowing margin of possibility that, despite everything, never entirely disappeared...
That is, until they discovered the Valley of the Heads.
The what?
That sounds bad.
MAINFRAME - No, it was good. Too good.
At the eleventh hour, the lead designer, Zsiemsk-born Sulisław Zawisza, decided that what 'Wirrâl Untethered' needed was a secret mystical location at the extreme edge of the map...
This place was to be the *Valley of the Heads* -- where the heads of all the *headless* constructs could be found. The player would have been able to choose a head for their headless party member, and each head would been voiced on-air by a professional actor.
This is some insane shit. Who were these people?
How many heads were there?
MAINFRAME - The world had never seen their kind before and might never again.
How many heads were there?
MAINFRAME - So many. At last count there were approximately 10,000 heads for 10,000 headless men, all of which could be endlessly recombined.
How many combinations could you make out of that?
That's pretty bad. So that's what did them in?
MAINFRAME - Do you really want to know? There seems to be a calculation here, but it may take a while...
Yeah, how bad could it be?
No, let's not go there.

Okay, so that's what did them in?
MAINFRAME - Well, yeah. That, and the catastrophic data loss.
The what now?
This must be the anomaly Soona mentioned in the church log.
MAINFRAME - On the nature of the data loss, there's ominously little information in the production log. It comes at the very end, where things get fuzzy and dark, where tables and numbers seem to vanish into an eerie nothingness, before their Igaunijan investor pulled the plug...
What is clear is that one day an unidentified numeric anomaly occurred on the East-Insulindian Lintel front, just as the 'Wirrâl Untethered' project was being compiled that day.
And the anomaly caused all the data to get lost in the air?
I didn't understand a word of that.
MAINFRAME - When the project was returned, it was completely blank.
The team spent weeks on the phone with Lintel, the service provider, but despite their diagnostics they could never produce a satisfactory explanation or pay for the loss.
What! They lost the whole game and wouldn't even pay for it?
Wasn't there a copy of the game, a *backup*?
MAINFRAME - Always read the terms of service.
LOGIC [Medium: Success] - And let's face it, they didn't have any money left for a legal action.
Wasn't there a copy of the game, a *backup*?
MAINFRAME - Mysteriously enough, it seems that the off-site copy happened to be *on-site* when the catastrophic data loss occurred...
It was the lead programmer's responsibility to oversee weekly maintenance of the off-site copy and, well, keep it off-site. An explanatory note from the lead programmer has been attached.
What does it say?
MAINFRAME - S. Luukanen-Kilde, the lead programmer of Fortress Accident: "The off-site copy was on-site because there was no *off-site* anymore, not for me, not after eight months of crunch."
"I didn't have a home anymore, so I started keeping it in the basement, in the ice bear refrigerator (near where I went to sleep). It was perfectly safe there, the temperature conditions were *optimal*."
It's not very convincing, is it?
Seems like a perfectly reasonable explanation.
Is there anything else from this lead programmer? (Proceed.)
MAINFRAME - That's not what her colleagues thought.
Is there anything else from this lead programmer? (Proceed.)
MAINFRAME - The production schedule ends with a few random notes that seem to be added sometime later.
4. Read the notes at the end.
MAINFRAME - Four months later by an unknown author: "I am the only one left and it's gotten rather damp here. A few other businesses have gone under too. Slipstream switched to making skis and the hairdressers just left, cursing Martinaise. They're right, though, something's seriously wrong with this place. Martinaise, all of it."
"Still haven't gotten an answer from Lintel about what happened. All I could get were the physical coordinates of the error on the East-Insulindian front on that day. Since the computation happened on-air, I reckoned it had to coincide with an actually existing location..."
"I have compared the coordinates to a map of Revachol West. Turns out it's only 800 metres from here. The address is Saint-Brune 1147. I am going there to look this thing in the eye..."
REACTION SPEED [Easy: Success] - Saint-Brune 1147? That's what the street sign next to the church said...
5. Tear off the printout and throw it away.
MAINFRAME - Tiles on the cube are still smouldering, casting the framework in a soft glow. Virescent PLAY and PRINT keys shine on the keyboard.
2. Remove THE PRODUCTION SCHEDULE.
MAINFRAME - The filament slides out of its glowing nest.
5. [Leave.]

Old Italia Pier Apartments - (Anchorpoint Wharf - San Sequoia)
Residential Rental - 4 Multi-story Apartments + Shared Ground floor amenities.
"The Old Italia Pier Apartments have seen generations of people come to SimNation to make their fortune. Originally built to house an influx of Sims from the Old Country, it has played host to families from across the world. The final residents left knowing their former homes would tell their stories. The previously commercial ground floor was repurposed and now boasts a laundromat, pool complex, gym and hobby centre."
Sims 4 Gallery: https://www.ea.com/en-gb/games/the-sims/the-sims-4/pc/gallery/7ADA558610F54770BC00977979535727?category=all&searchtype=ea_origin_id&sortby=downloads&time=all&searchquery=Simmy93&max=50&maxis=false
A Tour of the Lot
The Exterior:
Designed to preserve the exterior design of the original property, the four apartments are accessed by two dedicated yards with trash access. The 'main street' of the now quiet pier was once host to hundreds of sims a day but is now a shared space for the tenants to enjoy some outdoor time together. The name 'Old Italia' is inspired by the patriotic paintjob left by the original inhabitants way back when the Pier was still an active fish market.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Communal Spaces:
Although the outside of the former shops and services have remained unchanged, the interiors could not have changed more. Unlike the upstairs homes, the commercial property had no prospect of enduring and has since been repurposed for truly luxurious living.
Long Game Gym / Formerly Granny Beth's Bits n' Bobs
Once owned by the final inhabitant of the apartment above, Granny Beth's Bits n' Bobs was once the one stop shop for anything craft related in the local area. After a lucrative creative career Elizabeth 'Beth' McCann set about spreading her pink vision of the world. Unfortunately her rival and neighbour would have the last laugh as her grandson bought out the craft shop and replaced it with a gym inspired by his grandmother's domino aesthetic.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Adriatic Laundry Services / Formerly The Red Crane
Renowned as the best Asian cuisine this side of the Simissippi, the Red Crane was once the favourite spot of celebrities far and wide. Despite the fame, the owner never took advantage and became well known for his fair prices and wholesome family image.
Once attached to the apartments above, the Red Crane's kitchen still exists in the private residence and aspiring Chefs from across the country bid to stay for as long as they can, hoping they absorb some of that magic.
Now however, the once booming restaurant is providing services which removes grease from clothes, rather than contributing to it!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Green Dragon / Formerly Bountiful Bouquets
Few people know, but San Sequoia used to be the source of many flower imports into SimNation, and no where else could the freshest and most exotic flora be found. Taking advantage of this luck was Bountiful Bouquets who it is said created the bouquets for a Royal Wedding!
Nowadays the shop has been converted into a community hobby centre; chess, painting, archaeology, woodwork and of course, flower arranging are available to any resident.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Hidden Oasis / Formerly Giuseppe's Fishmonger
The heartbeat of the local economy was appropriately nestled in the middle of the main street trading in the best that came off the fishing boats. It was the only commercial endeavour that saw the start of the pier, and the end.
Afterwards it underwent the largest renovation of the four properties and was developed into a community pool. Decadence awaits you as you descend into a desert oasis amongst the busy suburban life. Equipped with pool, adult hot tub area and even a kids activity room, every member of the family can enjoy their day hiding from the desert sun.

The Apartments:
The Pink Lady - 2 bed, 1 bath. Unit Value: §75,628
One half of the most famous duo to be residents at the Old Italia Pier was Elizabeth 'Beth' McCann, a woman who it can safely be said, enjoyed pink. After a glittering career with her sister in the silent era of film she made the transition to the talkies, and then to colour films unlike her sister who seemed to be unable to keep up.
This lifelong resentment led to a bitter rivalry between the siblings, although most of it was aimed at Beth who for all intents and purposes was living her best life. Never marrying, Beth would adopt a son with her long time partner though they would later part ways causing scandal in the tabloids.
Tragedy would touch the McCann household despite Beth's happy disposition and she would end up raising her grandchildren after the death of her son and his wife necessitating some remodelling to accommodate such a lofty task.
No longer able to tread the boards or walk the red carpet, Beth consolidated her royalties and opened her 'Granny Beth's Bits n' Bobs' craft store and settled in for a quiet life.
The home has seen a lot of love, a lot of tears and a lot of knitting. It is perfect for an elder sim, or a small family of comfortable means.

How possible is it to have airplanes with many decks and lots of fancy amenities like swimming pools and gyms? What would I need to think about? I got the idea from a prank from a UAE airline that announced one. Prank it may be but it sounds absolutely amazing to put in my world on a fictional planet.
Tex: Building an airplane is a lot like building a ship on water, so the basic architectural work-arounds usually work the same. I’m not sure about a gym - the equipment might have maximum weight requirements, and also to store them in bolted-down containers when not in active use - but a reasonably small pool could be built into a gyroscopic container, so that splashing over the sides is less likely. There might also be drainage areas for the pool, so the water that does get splashed over is quickly handled.
Addy: How long are people going to be spending in these planes? Most long flights top out at around 12 hours (though some ultra-long-haul flights are headed towards a top time of 16 hours). Ultimately, unless you've got anti-grav, keeping that much weight in the air is going to be pretty difficult.
In terms of shape, planes are kinda like submarines with wings, but the difference in density (water vs air) means that your carrying capacities end up very different. Say you have three Olympic-sized swimming pools. One is filled with water, one is filled with peanut butter, and one is filled with whipped cream. Take three large pieces of plywood (say 2m by 2m, or about 6ft by 6ft) and float one of them on each pool. Now take weights and put those weights on top of the pieces of plywood. Which one will hold the most weight before sinking?
The kind of scenario you're thinking of is going to be very, very heavy. Multiple decks, gyms, pools, gardens… every step adds more weight. F = ma. The more mass you have, the more force it's going to take to get up to speed. More force means more fuel and more engines.
Honestly, I'd recommend going for a blimp. You don't need to stop for fuel like you do for a plane (you need some fuel, sure, but not nearly as much or as often… you can go a week on a blimp for less fuel than it takes for a commercial 767 to just leave the runway!), so people will have more time to spend at various amenities. Since you're going at a lower speed, it also means that you don't run into the same drag effects (at high speeds, moving through air is like moving through molasses – that's why SR-71 Blackbirds have such a small profile, or why bullet trains have such long noses).
It's like throwing a dart (or shooting an arrow) vs throwing a beach ball. The storage stuff that Tex mentioned still absolutely applies, but a blimp will at least be easier to get into the sky.

Top 5 Space-Saving Commercial Gym Equipment for Small Gymsfitness equipment ireland
Tumblr media
Creating an efficient and functional workout space is essential for small commercial gyms aiming to attract and retain members. Space-saving commercial gym equipment not only optimizes the available area but also offers diverse workout options for clients. In this blog post, we'll explore the top 5 space-saving commercial gym equipment that can enhance your gym's functionality without compromising on the quality of workouts.
Top 5 Space-Saving Commercial Gym Equipment
Multi-Functional Power Racks: Power racks are versatile pieces of equipment that can accommodate various exercises, making them a must-have for small gyms. Look for multi-functional power racks that include features like pull-up bars, dip handles, and cable attachments. This allows users to perform a wide range of strength-training exercises in a compact space. Additionally, adjustable J-hooks and safety catches make these power racks suitable for users of different heights and fitness levels.
Compact Cardio Machines: When it comes to cardio equipment, choose compact options that deliver an effective workout without taking up too much space. Look for commercial treadmills, elliptical trainers, or stationary bikes with a smaller footprint. Folding or stackable designs can further optimize space when these machines are not in use. High-quality, durable cardio machines will provide your members with reliable and efficient workouts.
Adjustable Dumbbell Sets: Traditional dumbbell racks can consume a significant amount of space, especially in smaller gyms. Opt for adjustable dumbbell sets that allow users to change the weight easily. These sets typically replace multiple individual dumbbells, saving both space and costs. Adjustable dumbbells are suitable for a variety of exercises, promoting a comprehensive strength-training experience for your members.
Functional Training Systems: Compact functional training systems provide a diverse range of exercise options within a limited space. These systems often include cable machines, pull-up bars, and accessory attachments for exercises targeting various muscle groups. Investing in a functional training system can be a space-efficient solution for offering both traditional and functional exercises in one integrated unit.
Wall-Mounted Strength Training Equipment: To maximize floor space, consider incorporating wall-mounted strength training equipment. This can include wall-mounted racks, foldable benches, and even wall-mounted cable machines. By utilizing vertical space, you can free up valuable floor space for other activities while still providing members with essential strength training options.
Conclusion
Creating an inviting and efficient workout space in a small commercial gym requires thoughtful selection of space-saving commercial gym equipment. By investing in multi-functional, compact, and wall-mounted options, you can offer a diverse range of exercises without compromising on the quality of your gym equipment. Prioritize durability, versatility, and member experience to ensure your gym becomes a preferred destination for fitness enthusiasts. Explore commercial gym equipment for sale to find the best options that suit your space constraints and fitness goals.

any story where you have an excuse to make everyone strong as hell and very sweaty is perfect to me. here are some quick inspo ideas for my most beloved au type.
Tumblr media
commercial chain gyms have a pretty standard array of equipment (cardio machines like treadmills, rowing machines), resistance machines, mats, and free weights, and will usually focus on having a lot of machines to sustain a larger, diverse clientele. they also probably run a pretty diverse selection of classes. they may also have callisthenics and body weight training areas.
body building gyms usually look pretty different to commercial gyms - they might be smaller, and a little less shiny, for some reason. as a specialist gym, they tend to be a little smaller in terms of number of stations available. if they're targeted towards strong man competition style working out, you might even have crazy things like huge truck tires to hit with a hammer or throw around. i went to one once that had a busted fiat 500 for people to lift. i dunno. go wild.
boxing/martial arts gyms will vary depending on what martial art they are teaching. they may also teach a variety, or just one kind, depending on the trainers. a boxing gym might have punch bags and a ring, but somewhere that teaches jiu jitsu, which fights on mats, probably wont have a roped ring. there might be some overlap in what is taught (muay thai, kickboxing, and mma have similar skillsets, for example) so they might run different sessions for each. a lot of places run kids and women's classes, too. if you aren't a practitioner of the martial art you're writing, doublecheck things like if they are graded, if there is often a sparring element to training, or if there is a specific uniform, as these things vary massively.
i have never been to a women's only gym but they function pretty similarly to most standard gyms, with the general equipment you would expect. it's only really the people using it that seperates it.
yoga studios can be very small, or very big. they will usually have soft floors and mats, as well as things like yoga blocks, straps, and balls. if they also teach pilates, there might also be some pilates machines. there might also be seperate rooms, for different classes, or meditation spaces.
similarly, dance studios can be any size, and like martial arts gyms, can specialise in a single style, or multiple. maybe it's run by a single dancer who only teaches tap, or maybe there are a few instructors who teach a variety of styles. what it looks like will vary massively depending on that.
swimming pools will usually have... a body of water. they may also a sauna, a shallow pool for kids, and depending on the pool, a play area. these also tend to run classes.
Tumblr media
here is a suggestion list of different classes a gym might run, sorted into categories. these have been pulled from as diverse a group of gyms as i could find in my area, for a more realistic selection:
cardio: body combat, spin, zumba, circuits, body conditioning, bootcamp, HIIT. strength: learn to lift, absolute abs, kettlebells, upper body blast. dance: here is a school in london with a huge variety of dance classes for inspo. martial arts: self defense, boxing for fitness. i wont list every kind of martial arts here because it's pointless, so here is the wiki page for it. note: some of these are closed cultural practices, and would not likely be taught outside of where they are traditionally practiced. misc: personal training.
Tumblr media
after moving to a new city, character a joins a gym class at random in a desperate attempt to make some new friends.
character a starts a new job at a local gym as a personal trainer, and isn't counting on the yoga instructor being quite so... flexible.
after an injury, character a starts doing some physio work at the gym. character b is in charge of their recovery.
character a takes their kid to a swimming class every week, where character b is the instructor taking the class.
despite knowing what a cliche it is, character a develops a humiliating crush on their personal trainer. it can't be helped - character b seems to exclusively wear obscenely tight t-shirts to work.
character a is a lifeguard at the pool where character b swims every morning, and quickly becomes a very strong motivation to getting up at 5am every day.
character a works at a family-run gym, and their bumbling crush on one of the regulars, character b, is becoming increasingly difficult to hide from their nosy siblings.
working on entering their first competition, character a works with character b in some one-to-one sessions, only to find them sitting in the front row come competition day.
character a returns to training after an injury in their last fight shattered their confidence. character b, their coach, helps them get back on their feet.

★ Salman Khan to construct 19-floor sea-facing hotel in Bandra with cafe, gym, swimming pool!
May 20, 2023
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is known to be one of the biggest investors in the city when it comes to hotels, restaurants and pubs. And looks like there is no stopping for Bhaijaan as he is now set to construct a swanky 19-storeyed hotel in a posh locality of Mumbai's suburban area of Bandra.
The hotel will be equipped with state-of-art amenities, right from a cafeteria and a gym to a huge swimming pool.
The hotel will reportedly be constructed under the name of Salman's mother, Salma Khan.
Salman Khan's 19-floor hotel in Mumbai
According to a report in Times of India, the plot where the hotel is being constructed once housed a residential building named Starlet CHS, in which the Khans had purchased several apartments.
Located at Carter Road in Bandra, the plot is a prime, sea-facing property, and a hotel there would sure attract hoards of customers.
The report stated that the proposal to build a hotel on the plot was submitted by the Khan-daan a year ago, and as per official papers, Salman's mother, Salma Khan, is the owner of the property.
As per the report, Khans' architect, Sapre & Associates, submitted a plan to authorities for a commercial building with a height of 69.90 metres which will be centrally air-conditioned.
The report also revealed that out of the 19 floors, the first and second floors will be occupied by a cafe and a restaurant, while the third floor has been reserved for a swanky gym and a swimming pool. The fourth floor will be used a service floor, and the fifth and sixth floors will house a convention centre.
From 7th to 19th floor, the building has been reserved for hotel use. Not just that, but there will also be a three-level basement at the property.
The actor and his family are yet to give out an official statement yet.

High-key snapped at my one Lazy Coworker who has been on my nerves lately for, of all things, him saying that a poster in a gym of a fat lady using equipment was "glorifying obesity" and immediately I kinda snapped and was like ok so being fat is bad so there's a pic of a fat person using gym equipment and that's ALSO bad because GloRiFyInG oBeSiTy what do you WANT??? Also glorifying obesity doesn't exist that's fucking ridiculous and I walked off at warp speed ☠️☠️☠️
But like really, I've seen billions of commercials with overly thin certainly unhealthy actors in them glorifying the living shit out of being dangerously thin- which we AUTOMATICALLY equate with health no matter how inaccurate using body size as a measurement of health is. You know what I've never seen? Thousands of weight gain commercials filled with people doing horribly unhealthy shit JUST to gain weight. The reverse is a diet commercial, and those are so ubiquitous it's hard not to have body issues about it. Glorifying obesity, fuck right the hell off if obesity is so glorified by ANYTHING then why does weight based discrimination exist everywhere from the workplace to medical institutions? Stupid.
