Me; Blah blah it’s fiction so they’re just going to do things for the drama and handwave logistics it’s not that deep don’t overthink it I know I know
Also me: assuming this lasts longer than the summer how is Christopher going to transfer schools to another state without his legal guardian? How frequently does Chris have check-ups or physical therapy or other medical care, and is Eddie’s health insurance going to cover non-emergency care his dependent receives in another state? Helena and Ramon don’t have custody and aren’t Christopher’s parents, they have limited-to-no rights to make certain decisions regarding Christopher’s medical care, education, or welfare, or to even receive confidential information about him—what happens if something comes up? Did they even consider any of these things before taking Christopher to live with them in another state indefinitely? Considering that they were in LA for maybe 48 hours and Eddie was only aware they planned to take Chris for maybe half of that time, I can’t imagine they talked through and put contingencies in place for any/all of these things so like…

Shoutouts to an underdiscussed Horror of the Looky Loo Storybook
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like. Just to ignore the whole thing about bricking up Poppy’s window for a minute- these people thought the way to brick something up in the first place involved sticking the bricks together with glitter glue. Forget The Horrors, these people aren’t gonna make it past the next time it rains-

Idk i think there is nuance. I dont think you always have to be ur 100% healed self around people--i think theres always grace for friends, family, loved ones/etc to meet you where you are in mental illness. BUT at the same time if the illness is negatively impacting your friendships and other relationships i think its well within their right to set boundaries until you can/will get help. And it is your responsibility at a certain point to get help im ngl

y’all remember last week when i was having a crisis over my chosen career path? i have come to the conclusion that teaching truly isn’t for me, in my heart i just know it isn’t, and there are so many factors that went into me deciding that. so i’ve made the decision to further my education and go into another passion of mine: the writing field. ever since making that decision i’ve had so much peace. obviously there are a lot of kinks i have to work out, and i still will be working at my current job for at least another full year until or two i can get my feet under me. for my own well-being, this is the best decision for me and it feels so good to say that

weirdest casualty of long Covid (besides. yk. the Incurable Disability) is in terms of linguistic processing I can truly no longer talk or sing as fast as I used to
not that I was super fast before, but one of the days I was sickest, words actually stopped... meaning anything? like I was at work, I was hitting my DT script, but was pushing through on pure muscle memory phonetically. I could process what I was hearing or reading just fine, but could not talk outside of this heavily repetitive workplace script, which is actually very dystopian now that I think about it. virus hitting the brain means I'm a zombie that can't speak except to say, "HIII :) whatcanIgetstartedferyouthismorning?"
anyway, thought it was just fatigue, but went to my car on my break, watched a trending video of people trying to rap along to Fergalicious at double speed. I could LIP SYNC to it just fine. I tested my theory. but I could NOT get my mouth and voice to work at the same time to actually sing/rap it. even now, tbh, I have to make myself NOT think about it while rapping it to get the words to flow out or I get stuck. like it's truly something in the brain for where you process speech, but not where you process just lyrical phonics like music. I have to consciously make a REAL effort to turn off the "word" part of my brain to be fast again.
I speak perfectly legibly, I can genuinely get up to decently fast normal talking speeds, just not Northeastern fast-fast. but it comes up in music a surprising amount, and it's kind of annoying to have lost as a skill.

Getting real sick of a certain subset of Destiny players complaining that it’s a baby game and crying to Bungie to nerf exotics and abilities when their ENTIRE POINT IS TO BE STRONG in specific ways as if they are being locked into using them.
IF YOU WANT AN EXTRA CHALLENGE STOP BEING SUCH A DPS GOBLIN AND JUST EQUIP SOMETHING THATS NOT TOP TIER META AND STOP COMPLAINING JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
MOOD. Go off.
It's incredibly annoying to me. They always use the argument of "the game should FORCE me to do things, I should not SELF-IMPOSE challenges." And like. ? I'm sorry but what? It's a video game for a big audience, it's here to be playable and accessible to the widest possible playerbase. There are plenty of ways to make the game difficult for yourself, so knock yourself out if that's your thing, but don't force others into it.
Like, I enjoy hard content, I regularly at least attempt day 1 raids, I do master raids, GMs, solo and solo flawless content and all that. But only when I want to. Sometimes I don't and I don't want to suffer in a patrol zone or struggle in a seasonal activity I'm doing for the story. The majority of the players don't want that. Designing games for the professional gamers only has NEVER been a good idea and never will be. Fifty streamers can't sustain a video game. It needs casual players who will want to come back to the game instead of feeling defeated.
One of the reasons I really enjoy helping others is because I know that casual players tend to struggle in stuff that's basic activity for me. I've seen people unable to get through a strike. I've sat for 10 minutes rezing someone who couldn't do the jump in a seasonal activity. I want those people to be able to play basic content without feeling frustrated and I want them to know that there are people out there who will help them out.
And this doesn't apply just to basic content, although it should start with that. I think all dungeons and raids and everything should be things that all players can complete. Fine, doing a master raid with all challenges should be tough, but it should be achievable with time and practice, not impossible. What a lot of these "pros" want is just completely divorced from reality.
It takes days and days of practice every time a new master raid is out for me and my team (all with thousands of hours of playtime) to get comfortable to finally finish it. We're far from casual players and it still takes a lot of time to be able to finish hard content. Making it even harder is insane to me. Like, if something is so hard that my team full of people, each with 5000+ hours of playtime and a coordinated team that's been raiding together for years now can't finish it, that means it's absolutely impossible for probably 90% of the playerbase. That's wild to me. Raids and GMs should have more people playing them. If master raids are too easy for you, Mr. I-Play-Destiny-For-A-Living, that's on you buddy. Unequip the super god tier god roll meta guns and loadouts or play something else.
And ofc, another excuse they make is "if I don't use meta, I am not going to win a raid race!" Then don't. Idk. Let me play you the tiniest violin. This affects literally nobody except a grand total of 50 people. Run your meta in day 1, and play with random shit otherwise. Play raids with all white weapons. Play without mods. Play without a HUD. Do things solo only. I don't know, make up a way to spice things up for yourself. I'm not interested in that and neither are 99% of the players out there. The game is genuinely hard enough for the majority of the players. On top of that, I am here to feel like a powerful space fantasy superhero. I am NOT here to die to dregs in patrol zones. If there's ONE thing that I know for a fact that put people off from Lightfall (as in this year of Destiny), it's the difficulty changes. They're annoying, frustrating and for some a barrier to entry more than anything else.
#destiny 2#gameplay#ask#long post#i really do love helping but i can't not feel bad because once the people i helped are out of my fireteam...#...there's no telling what other experiences they'll have#there's so many speedrunners and people who don't care and people who just aren't helping and are instead mocking others#you can only do so much for a few people you see in activities#this season's activities are super tough. every time so far I've played everyone in the team was struggling#i'm gonna have to start going into altars of summoning with my full support build warlock just to sit in there and help people#istg the 'pros' have to get their loadouts restricted. go play with non-god tier armour sets and guns#equip the same loadout that some casual player has available and let me see you then#this idea that everyone has minmaxed best equipment available at all times is bizarre. please get your head out of your ass#'i have perfectly rolled all artifice armour with perfect stat exotics for every loadout because i have infinite time to grind' okay dude#most of us aren't being paid to play destiny. lmao#'the game used to be hard' no. you got better. you mastered it#why is this so difficult to understand. everything is hard when you first start. 5000 hours later it no longer is#the game is fine. the 'health of the game' is fine. you mastered it and outgrew it#either impose challenges on yourself or find something else#like. when i first started GMs they were almost impossible for me#now i play them for fun. they're still challenging but they're not the same level of hard and I'm fine with that#i enjoy them as content and they're still entertaining#and when a new GM comes out it's a new challenge to master so it'll be hard at the start#as everything ever in the world#if that's no longer enough for you then you just outgrew the game and should probably move on#the only reason why some things used to be hard was poor quality of life that got improved over time#not being able to mantle in d1 is not difficulty. it's just not good design. it was fixed and improved#the bitching about light 3.0 as well. man. just don't use the 'OP' fragments. it's so easy to unequip them#i personally love the variety and all the options i have now as opposed to before#okay tag essay done. fhkajhakfhksjf

5 Benefits of Regular Exercise and Fitness
Exercise machines and home gym equipment
Tumblr media
Regular exercise and fitness offer several benefits that contribute to our overall well-being and longevity. Here are five key advantages:
Improved Physical Health - Engaging in regular exercise strengthens the cardiovascular system, enhancing heart health and reducing the risk of conditions like heart disease, stroke and high blood pressure. It also helps maintain a healthy weight by burning calories and building muscle mass, reducing the likelihood of obesity and related health issues such as diabetes and metabolic syndrome.
Enhanced Mental Health - Exercise isn't just beneficial for the body; it's also crucial for mental health. Physical activity stimulates the release of endorphins that promote feelings of happiness and reduce stress and anxiety levels. Regular exercise has been linked to lower rates of depression and can improve overall mood and self-esteem.
Increased Energy Levels - Exercising regularly boosts energy levels and improves circulation and oxygen flow to tissues, leading to increased stamina and reduced fatigue. Even short bouts of exercise can provide an immediate energy boost, making it easier to tackle daily tasks and activities.
Better Sleep Quality - Those who exercise regularly often experience improved sleep quality and duration. Physical activity helps promote deeper and more restorative sleep. Additionally, exercise can help reduce the symptoms of sleep disorders such as insomnia and sleep apnea, leading to a more refreshed and rejuvenated feeling upon waking.
Longevity and Quality of Life - Consistent exercise is associated with a longer lifespan and a higher quality of life in later years. It helps maintain mobility, flexibility, and balance, reducing the risk of falls and injuries as individuals age. By promoting overall health and well-being, regular exercise allows people to enjoy an active and fulfilling life well into old age.
Regular exercise is the cornerstone of physical health and mental well-being. It enhances endurance, strength, and flexibility while reducing the risk of chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes, and also enhances mood, cognition, and sleep quality.

clown face + kiss mark + see no evil + snail + fork and knife + bow and arrow + desert island + bandage + love letter [:
nathan asks!
🤡 CLOWN FACE: Are they afraid of clowns? What “silly” fears do they have?
nathan isn’t necessarily afraid of clowns, but they would make him very paranoid and on edge. he has luckily missed out on the clown mask appearances in the beacon incident, because if he had been there for that it would've definitely changed his opinion on the matter
most of nathan’s fears are actually very serious and even the smaller seemingly innocent things have a very heavy weight to them (such as getting scared when someone locks the door of the room he’s in). a lot of his irrational fears come from his paranoia and are highly unrealistic, such as ending up back in STEM somehow (though this proves to not be as unrealistic as he originally thought in my own tew4), or getting caught in a timeloop, or a giant sinkhole all the way to the core of the earth opening up right at his feet
even his "sillier" fears that really make you think how and why that could and would even happen get a lot heavier the more you think about it. sometimes he gets scared he will wake up and won't be able to speak anymore, which really isn't gonna just happen like that but considering how he was silenced for most of his life constantly it would make sense why he's so deadly afraid of it. he himself considers most of his fears silly and stupid, but his friends do take them very seriously, knowing how he's been hurt with it all in the past
💋 KISS MARK: What’s their signature look, if any? Do they have a gesture or piece of jewelry or something else that acts as a calling card for them?
the outfit i draw nathan most in, would be his in-game look for tew2! it's a dark green turtleneck sweater with chest holster, black cargo pants, and dark brown combat boots. just in general he wears a lot of practical clothing like that, also outside of STEM, just in case he needs to dive in for whatever reason or if he gets himself in a combat situation. when he's not wearing an outfit like that, he can most often be found wearing sweatpants and a nice comfortable hoodie
🙈 SEE-NO-EVIL: What’s the worst thing they’ve ever seen? Do they tend to be a bystander or do they intervene?
the worst thing nathan has seen, would be the death of his younger sister rosie. they were playing in the front yard together and nathan, who was six years old at the time, had to watch his sister the whole time because his parents were too busy with other things. nathan ended up losing her out of sight for a moment and turned around just in time to see her end up on the road and get hit by a car. his parents ended up accusing him of pushing his sister in front of the car and the driver (who had been on his phone) naturally agreed with them, which is how the rest of nathan's life happened the way it happened
nowadays, nathan is generally quick to intervene, especially when the situation involves someone he cares about. however, when a situation hits a little too close to home, he might end up freezing instead; a completely involuntary reaction, in which case he does end up being a bystander. the only other reason he may end up as a bystander is because he believes the person or people involved deserve that fate, in which case he simply watches from a safe distance
🐌 SNAIL: What’s their happy place? Do they have somewhere they can retreat to just chill out for a while?
nathan's happy place unfortunately doesn't really exist, but he does have comfort places. the main one that he's had for a long time now would be his apartment, but it's also a very isolating place and sometimes does him more harm than it brings him comfort. later on, he learns to find comfort in being with his friends, but especially being with the castellanos family makes him feel a lot more at ease; they're like the family he's never had and he loves being there to just feel part of it, even if just for one afternoon
🍴 FORK AND KNIFE: Do they have good manners? Were they taught to be that way, or are they just polite?
nathan has decent manners, though can be considered a little off-putting if you don't know him well. he was never really taught any so he had to learn from observation instead, and "polite" is a very big word to describe him; he knows his way around people enough to stay on their good side, but you won't be able to have some good small talk with him. especially when working together with people, he can be very blunt and he's not scared to criticize others' ideas and plans
🏹 BOW AND ARROW: What’s their preferred weapon, if anything?
nathan prefers stealth since he's naturally sneaky, and thus prefers a combat knife over anything else. though if it comes down to using firearms, he prefers a weapon that lets him pick his shots carefully; so a simple handgun works perfectly fine, or, his more favored option, a sniper rifle, in which case he gets the added benefit of a safe distance between himself and his enemies
🏝️ DESERT ISLAND: How would they answer the classic question about what items they would bring to a deserted island?
first of all, nathan would argue for a while about how it's pretty unrealistic to get stranded on a deserted island, especially since he doesn't really travel in the first place; if you manage to get through that, he will probably say a water bottle, handaxe, blanket, lighter (and matches as a backup), and a first aid kit
🩹 BANDAGE: What do they do when they’re sick or injured?
nathan is a terrible patient when he's sick and mostly tries to shrug it off and pretend it's not happening, so he can just go about his day. unfortunately for him being sick often comes with a massive amount of brain fog which can send him down a spiral straight into an episode very quickly if he's not careful, so he would still end up spending most of his time in bed or on the couch with all doors triple locked and a weapon or two nearby, just in case someone gets him (no one ever does)
when he's injured, he simply patches himself up. nathan has enough medical knowledge to stop the bleeding and make sure he won't die of an infection or something like that, but he would still need someone else to look at it later to fix it up properly for him. he tends to skip over this step if he's managed to hide the injury from others, because he doesn't feel like sharing it with the class. if others are aware of it, they'll make sure he gets it looked at anyway
💌 LOVE LETTER: How do they like expressing their love? Do they like to be straightforward or are they more romantic?
nathan isn't much of a romantic, but he is still very thoughtful and tries to make himself as helpful as possible for the people he cares about. he knows he can be a handful himself and often feels like he needs to make up for it in a way, so extending a hand to others and paying extra attention to the things they may need help with or need more reassurance for comes naturally to him
later on, once he's in an actual relationship, he is still very practical about it most of the time. however, by then all of the events of my own tew3 and tew4 are over, which means he slowly but surely gets more comfortable and with that loosens up too. he's still not one for a romantic walk on the beach, but will pick ruben up from the lab and drive him home, or they have dinner at some diner somewhere or go in town to run some errands real quick before the shops close; it sounds very mundane, but the both of them need it very bad to be able to feel like they CAN live a normal life, despite everything that's happened to (and because) of them
