Mini-review:

Wow, this left me breathless. Despite its simplicity and short length, it manages to keep you glued to the screen. In fact, its pace is intense enough to reach anxiety-inducing levels. I don't know if this sort of situation is exactly like that in real life, but it certainly made me scared of ever visiting the US. The taut script is further elevated by two fantastic performances from Alberto Ammann and Bruna Cusí, who give their all to these roles. I don't really have anything else to add, but Upon Entry is a must-watch for fans of thrillers and/or interrogation movies.

Upon Entry

Today I went to see Upon Entry (La Llegada in the original Spanish, Border Line in French) and it was A+! A couple (a Venezuelan man and a Spanish woman) plan on starting a new life in the US, but are stopped at the Newark airport and have to undergo a thorough interrogation.

It was as creepy as the trailer made it look like. I'm so glad that I live in the EU, where we can freely go from one country to another (RIP United Kingdom membership), and that I don't have to go to the US.

The movie is in a mix of Spanish and English, with some Catalan.

i managed to catch opening night of I'm Gonna Marry You Tobey Maguire here in london last week and it's weird and stupid and heartwrenching with a solid amount of britney numbers

so maybe i need to do some more digging into the lore, but as a newbie who finally caught up on the story and has done some lore reading - was albrecht... more involved in the zariman disaster than just releasing the indifference into reality?

like his logs for the cavia mention that he knew that the indifference was intrigued by uniqueness and, at the very least, albrecht granted the zariman the privilege of being the first to access his archives so they could form the curriculum for the kids, which euleria contributed so much to the point of becoming the voice of it.

the zariman also had a super unique reliquary drive, which incidentally has a massive orb with entrati obols above it. obviously we can't be sure whether euleria, albrecht, or both worked on the drive, given that both clearly contributed to zariman's education system, but it's hard to imagine that happening without some level of involvement from him.

you can also get entrati lanthorns in only two places - albrecht's lab and the zariman. between all of that, how his account of his first meeting with the indifference has him mention "the unholy zariman parade" (implying he was there for the send-off), and his apparent interest in tau as of the end of 1999...

it just seems extremely coincidental if he didn't ever consider that the uniqueness of the zariman would be a beacon for the indifference.

especially since albrecht somehow knew about the operators' existence when he first visited 1999. even og!loid isn't aware that operators = tenno in witw and it's only really the seven and the researchers involved who would've known the true nature of the tenno (probably lotus too) at the point when the entrati all hid themselves upon deimos.

i don't know if he intended to serve the zariman up to the void as he had previously done to the cavia, but given 1999 has demonstrated he's fully accepting of killing "hundreds of thousands" to even gain an inch against the indifference, it wouldn't exactly be out of character, would it?

Agent Screenburn was an Agency operative and Enhanced Operatives Division member. They were the previous field agent delegated to your newest assignment, gone missing after a particularly disastrous mission and presumed deceased since then. Screenburn's repertoire of skills consisted of their uncanny knack for hacking and television hijacking. Their final mission prior to their disappearance involved the infiltration of a Zoraxis facility, only for Screenburn to get caught up in an enormous blast spanning the entire building. Our retrieval team did not find a body when they descended upon the explosion site, which casts a shadow of doubt upon whether or not Screenburn is truly deceased. Regardless, there have been reports of missing agents returning alive after being presumed deceased. Should Agent Screenburn be found alive again, then we here at the Agency are more than happy to welcome them back with open arms.

remember when i mentioned brainstorming a personal take on IEYTD4 the other day? well, here's the main antagonist i had in mind for it!

say hi to Agent Operative Screenburn (they/them), former agency agent turned zoraxis operative! originally presumed dead by the agency after a particularly disastrous mission, screenburn became a turncoat once zoraxis came to their aid after the agency failed to. they aim to discredit the agency by revealing their less-than-savory actions to the public, hoping that doing so will put an end to the eternal war between zoraxis and the agency.

i would've drawn more things with them, buuuuut i'm still sick with a fever and this is the most i could've mustered up the energy to draw. here's the stand-alone render of screenburn for anyone who's interested!
