My hands are still a little wonky for top stitching and setting zipper, but I really wanted to get this strata bag done before next month's rock and mineral show.

Main body is worn out jeans, flap and gusset is a ray troll fabric from spoonflower, the lining is marble patterned cotton from the joanns remnant bin.

That's 4 shades of yellow!

The closer the stitches, the more damaged the fabric. The farther apart the stitches, the less damaged the fabric.

Pleasant, pleasant to look at!

Heck, once I'm done I may casually add stitches to this as a slow stitching project.

Jeans guy asked if I would make this a Theseus ship.

Honestly?

That is a goal for me. To repair things so much that there's little to nothing left of the original. Making it both the old object and an entirely new object! I'm pretty happy that my vibes match my goals.

Today was a day of mending!!!

First and largest was making my best friends childhood blanket sturdier again. The bias trim around the edges was showing it's age (26!!) and there were some holes popping up. He seam ripped it all and then we used a minky faux fur type fabric to back it, with lots of dogs and a cat insisting on snuggling on it along the way XD

Next is the preserving of another friend's favorite T-shirt, it had become too small and very worn down! We are going to use wonder under to turn it into a patch, and we thrifted the perfect 80s puffer jacket to put it on! Space biker gang vibes

Last but not least is the cute heart patching of jeans for a photographer friend! I saw on her story that she ripped a favorite pair of jeans at a shoot and I was like DONT THROW THEM OUT and she was ecstatic about the repair. It's not quite shashiko style but it's inspired by that, impossible to see the black threat LOL but I used a similar technique to make sure the patch was really on there

Behold, my new storage!

This is a shortened jean leg, but cut open from just near where the fly goes to the centre of the bum, to give two pockets. Then I just cut out and sewed on some other pockets from my collection of jeans rags, and voila!
