🎭 Removed memories and 3D icons in The Sims 2

There were more 3D memory icons above a Sim's head. Like "friends, divorce, engagement" displayed over their head. The textures have been removed :( You can see a 3D fire icon above a Sim's head on the cooking channel on TV. It's cropped, but you can catch a glimpse.

The developers added these icons everywhere they could. Then they decided there were too many and removed them. Out of curiosity, you can check out a gallery of screenshots.

Features that were planned: a silver wedding anniversary (not to be confused with a golden one), calling the boss to work from home (resulting in either a promotion or demotion), a graveyard icon above a lot in the neighborhood (if marked as such), a joking skill (with successful and unsuccessful jokes). The stick-and-bundle object for a runaway teen was removed (it's still present in memories and as a 3D icon for a runaway teen). Volleyball gameplay.

Grave variations were planned, along with a TV dish object, and the old PlumBob design resembling The Sims 1.

First memories included: first kiss (with an animated arrow striking a heart), first cooking attempt, first food fire, first time learning interests, first steps (with a different look), first repair, first move, first failed joke, first successful joke, first book read, first best friends (removed), first friends (in the base game), first chess win, first fight, first discovery of another Sim's cheating, and first romance.

Other removed memories: ran away from the wedding, got a job, peed pants, lost a friend, lost a best friend, couldn’t pay the electricity bill, reached level 5, silver wedding anniversary, some party (icon with a bear wearing a hat), cockroaches!, "I’m the best!", best writer, birthday, cheating without getting caught, job promotion, job demotion, received a bonus at work, got electrocuted, best long-time friends party, fire! The old divorce model was removed, as well as refusing a teenager's love confession, death of a child, death of a spouse, adopted a child!, and maxed out all skills!.

3D icons were found in game/sims2/res/sims3d/objects(0-9).package using SimPE.

hi i slept through the utdr newsletter drop but i'm awake now and i looked at the video and tobert has now driven me nmore insane

my interpretation of this is that

1) he was promised perfection and definitely didn't get it, look at how glitchy he is now not to mention the whole puppet thing

2) i guess seeing errors/glitches makes him think of things that he's afraid of. wonder what those are

though "suspicious waves" is very, well, suspicious. is it the way that the fountain flows in waves? weird telephone signals? weird television signals? it's hard to determine

(i feel like showing spamton's regular sprite at the end was there to imply that this message has to do with him for real instead of the spamton value network spamtons)

also tried to determine the very last line on this warning message but i couldn't decipher it. here are some screenshots if you want to chew on it yourself. the sentence structures seem to be "_____ ____ __ ____!!! ___ ______ __!!!"

The amount of b-grade/miscut/misprint stickers I get when making batches is goofy

What's in my hand is usable and can be sent out, the boxes behind it are all ones with imperfections/ damage but can't bring myself to throw away because it feels like I'm being wasteful. I might make 'scrap baggies' for each fandom and offer them on kofi for like 7-10 stickers for the price of one or something again

Also back in 2021 I pointed out that Sorey has unused textures for his earrings that match his alt colour palette. Mauro reminded me about this today so I went texture hunting and found that Mikleo, Alisha, Edna, and Rose all have alternate textures for their head accessories. In the game proper, only Lailah, Dezel, and Zaveid have these alt hairstyles equippable.

Mikleo has another texture for his circlet that is never used because the game model uses the one attached to his costume texture. I approximated the look here:

GUYS THE NEWSLETTER ISOUT AND THIS IS SEEMINGLY FROM CHAPTER 4

WHAT IS THE CONTEXT FOR THIS

WHY IS IT SO CHRISTMASSY

There are gifts, bells, a candy cane, bows, and NOELLE all in the same spot in the light world. I feel like this is in the church somewhere where they keep Christmas decorations. Its dark and Noelle has a flashlight, so it could be a basement, and the dress just kinda strikes me as something she'd wear to church instead of her usual outfit.

But if this IS the church, then that means Chapter 4 might not only have the religious aspect to it that could tell us more about the Angel, but also a bit of holiday theme in parts of it... and with Noelle there for the ride, something tells me we're gonna find out more about a certain lost girl.

There's definitely something to dissect in the other chapter, progress-related sprites, but this just INSTANTLY caught my attention.
