a young woman who's kinda done with dating but is out with her succubus bestie because said bestie needed a night out and oh no she just accidentally used the Unseelie Prince himself as a fake boyfriend to get rid of the human creep who's been hitting on her all evening in the nightclub which also doubles as a supernatural haven (but only if the supernaturals abide by the treaty that says they can't use their power on the humans who are also occasionally allowed in to help make the place look more legit...)

And oh no, the Unseelie Prince is not impressed at the gall of this boring human falling into his royal lap and demanding that he pretend to be something so revoltingly demeaning as her boyfriend, but then she realises that he's not going to play along and stands up with this kicked-puppy look in her eyes and... what's a dark and uncompromising Unseelie Prince to do but kiss this human breathless, and with only a look tell the creep to fuck off or he'll decorate the walls with his insides...

And then the pathetic little human has the nerve afterwards to 'thank' the Unseelie Fae Prince with a reputation for eviscerating people who look at him sidelong for too long? Like she's his equal? Like what he deigned to do for her was something she's just going to brush off and forget and not owe him ten different ways til Sunday??? And then she just... walks away from him after that and goes back to her bestie who comes back to wonder what in the name of all creation just happened - 'I leave my human alone for five minutes and this is the mess she gets into? Have you lost your goddamned mind, girl?’

So yeah. That's where I'm at today.

I will add specific warnings if there is anything that may be especially triggering however please keep in mind that dark and/or horror themes will be present regardless.🚩

“Do you think yourself clever, girl?”

My eyes flicker to Lord Steven but they quickly return back to their original place; on the king who lounges behind him. Amusement flashes in his silver blue eyes but he lets nothing cross his stern mask of a face.

“I have asked you a question and as your lord…”

“It appears we are at a cross roads then,” I interrupt the lord and he snarls at me.

“Excuse me?”

“It appears…”

“I heard what you said!”

“that we are at a cross roads then,” I finish without taking my eyes off of the king. He may look like a man but I know that beneath his calm and collected demeanor lies a monster. He is Unseelie; he feeds on chaos and destruction while sipping wine. Grotesque horns and foul fangs rip from his skin when he chooses. He laughs when Seelie cry and plead for their lives.

The king is Unseelie Fae and he is my mate.

Lord Steven stomps towards me, gripping me by the chin, and forces me to look him in the eyes, “what do you mean?”

I look him up and down, “you are not my lord.”

A horrifying smile stretches across his Unseelie face as his own fangs and bark like skin appears.

“If I am not your lord and you will not answer my questions then will you obey your king?”

I let out a snort, “I have no king.”

Although I can’t see him, I can hear my mate shift in his throne and make his own noise of annoyance.

“Then will you not listen to your mate?”

“Enough,” his demanding voice booms across the room. Lord Steven lets go of my chin and retreats to his spot next to the king’s throne. The king has taken to leaning against his fist as he studies me. He’s searching for something I would never willingly give over and when he doesn’t find it, he sighs disappointedly.

“Tell me, mate, why the Seelie army has gathered outside my castle’s walls.”

I shrug.

“Seeing as you are the only Seelie Fae here,” he trails off, insinuating that I need to finish his sentence but I do not.

I straighten my shoulders and take a half step backward which sends the guards around me into high alert. The tip of a sword digs into my back and I smile for a brief moment.

“I hope that you have prepared yourself, mate,” I shoot back with an edge of vengeance and malice in my words, “for the demise of your nation is coming.”

As if on cue, a roar of a thousand Seelie Fae soldiers is heard from outside and a guard comes bursting into the throne room. He’s panting and looks terrified as he stutters out that the Seelie have breached the wall. The king lets out a growl that rattles the windows as his true form breaks free.

“What did you do?” He snaps at me but all I do is smile back at him as my army storms the castle.

my daydreaming has gotten out of hand ngl. and because of that i’ve been wondering: do seelie fae feed from anything? or is it just unseelie fae that do? and also could you give a handful of random words that could be any fae’s heartsong?

Seelie fae just eat regular food, they don't have appetites like Unseelie fae (some of whom can also eat regular food but have an additional 'true appetite' on top of that).

The thing that makes Unseelie fae Unseelie, is literally that they have an appetite for things that hurt the life force of a person. That might be their literal life in the case of cannibalism. It might be something that preys on their emotions (like the Gancanagh). It might be something that preys on their soul (like Gwyn's true appetite). It might be something that preys on their mistakes in life (like Fenwrel). It might be something that preys on their emotions (like the Nightingale). Or it might be something that preys on the building blocks of a culture and our ability to communicate with others (like the Raven Prince!)

Meanwhile Seelie fae are literally just like, eating fruit and berries and cakes and doing fine alskjfsda

and also could you give a handful of random words that could be any fae’s heartsong?

You could think of almost any abstract word or concept in existence, anon, and you'd be thinking of a ton! But there's a handful of heartsongs in the canon, which might help too. :D

Vampires ruled the modern world. Werewolves had been hunted and locked away, left in prisons to rot for eternity. Most witches had either been executed. Or forced to serve the Vampires and if they denied, they were killed. What was left of the Fae was scarce. Most Seelie and Unseelie were long since extinct and only a few bloodlines existed.
