Horror Jetty version of 1st Logo (September 14, 1991-March 21, 2006)
(Universal Animation Studios/Summary, Background: Universal Animation Studios is the animation production arm of Universal Studios established on May 27, 1991, as "Universal Cartoon Studios" and as a division of Universal Family Entertainment. In 2006, it was renamed to its current moniker.)
Universal Cartoon Studios[] 1st Logo (September 14, 1991-March 21, 2006)[] Nicknames: "Horror Jetty", "Malevolent Jetty", "Nightmare Globe", "MCA Globe of Fear" Logo: We see the modified version of the 1990-1997 Universal Pictures logo playing as normal, but without "UNIVERSAL" coming from behind and encircling the globe. While the globe zooms out and moves into its center position, Horror Jetty (a ghastly yellow-orange airplane with a malevolent red face, red eyes, and corroded light-blue wheels) emerges from behind the globe. Instead of flying around it cheerfully, Horror Jetty darts around the globe with its razor-sharp teeth lining the edges of its wings and fuselage, leaving a trail of darkness and terror in its wake. As it flies around, a chilling scream emanates from Horror Jetty, freezing those who hear it with fear. The smoke from its path forms the word "UNIVERSAL," but now in a sinister and ominous font that matches Horror Jetty's malevolent aura. The plane then enters the bottom of the globe and flies through it, but this time, it doesn't leave a trail of smoke. Instead, the smoke from its path transforms into the words "CARTOON STUDIOS," appearing in blood-red and eerie rainbow colors and written in a haunting font. As the globe and the words are in position, Horror Jetty returns to the middle of the globe, red eyes glowing with malice. It floats for a moment, peering at the audience with a sinister grin before descending again, its intentions shrouded in darkness.
Trivia: The Horror Jetty version of the logo pays homage to the original 1991 logo but adds terrifying elements to reflect Horror Jetty's malevolent nature.

“i’ll be so lucky to have you” is such a beautiful line. himi knowingly returns to a world that is destined to consume her in the fires she holds dear, all because they’re also the very doors that’ll bring mahito into existence.
and that’s the enduring essence of miyazaki’s works: life, through all its suffering and misery, is still worth living. through the people we love and the memories we cherish, we search for and find our reasons to live.

What Universal should do with animation - My thoughts
Nobody believed me when I developed a huge hatred towards Warner Bros. since I was actually born in the 90's. But now, seeing they were devoured up by Discovery by cancelling every single show to date and delisting them all from HBO Max as a result of the merger Warner Bros. Discovery goes to show that my hatred towards the former was a lot improved over the years. And you know what? It was fun. And hilarious.
However, considering their competitor Universal Pictures already won the animation market last year with big hits like the Bad Guys, the Rise of Gru and the Last Wish, this begs a very important question: what can Universal do within the animation industry?
Since we're now in 2023, I went ahead and shared my five reasons:
Take their division Universal Animation Studios too seriously - Since 1990 / 1991, Universal Animation Studios (or Universal Cartoon Studios) was established to create animated shows based upon popular IP such as Back to the Future, An American Tail, Problem Child and Casper. Their previous works on film included Curious George and Woody Woodpecker; the latter of which... wasn't well received due to it being restricted to direct-to-video. However, to ensure that animation can be made as fun and attractive, as coined by NBCUniversal CEO and president Jeff Shell, it can not only be made for kids but also for adults too. What I would imagine is that a new animated series should be based around any highly acclaimed film, or just make it original. If successful, it might develop a fan base that would cater to all viewers, no matter what genre.
Acquire [adult swim], Boomerang and Cartoon Network with a bit of rebranding - I know I'm going to drag too much naysayers in this post, but hear me out. Imagine if NBCUniversal casually negotiated with Warner Bros. Discovery by owning the rights to all three divisions [adult swim], Boomerang and CN, and then they'd be split as three respective channels, they'd be rebranded as a certain following: Universal Animation Network (Kids and Families), Universal Animation Classics (everyone) and Universal Animation Alternate. The latter of which is similar to [adult swim] but as a full-on focus for adult animation. All original animated shows to air 24 hours with Woody Woodpecker, including re-runs of Universal Animation Studios produced programmes while hiring former CN animators and artists who were ousted by David Zaslav himself and then get experimental and inspired. Just to keep viewers waiting while new shows are presented without cancelling them. Oh, yeah. Don't shoehorn live action on every network unlike what Stuart Snyder did. Then relaunch said programmes on Peacock in case they miss out. Speaking of Peacock...
Make original animated web shows on Peacock? - Similar to Woody Woodpecker who received a 2018 web series on YouTube, Universal Animation Studios should consider making more original animated shows on their live streaming service Peacock. It can develop new shows as timed exclusives before being aired on either one of the following networks (original, Classics or Alternate) or just YouTube in case no one signs up for the app. Afterwards, it'll help NBCUniversal and Team Peacock to boost more interest into the animation market, just like how DreamWorks Animation had creative control with Jurassic World and Fast & Furious. Sure it had mixed reviews since launch, but after hearing it was the big home to the New Woody Woodpecker Show that debuted on FOX Kids circa 1999, every animation viewer immediately signed up for the app and started to binge watch the living hell out of it. Though, I haven't seen the entire show since it was aired. Luckily, I still have Peacock installed on my iPad Pro, but haven't had the time to sign up for it. Maybe in March, I could consider using a year round subscription so I don't miss out what's going on (i.e. the Super Mario Bros. Movie).
Win against WAG, Disney and Nick while avoiding negative actions - Whether it's from Illumination, DreamWorks or their original animation division, Universal has a huge library of animated content that's from the classics. Unlike Disney, Pixar nor Warner Bros., they don't force too much wokeness nor political nonsense into their projects. And, unlike Netflix nor Nickelodeon, they don't delist any good programme off Peacock despite cancellations. As stated, animation is all about fun and attractiveness, including going experimental in a unique style. Their division DreamWorks Classics has full access to many animated shows such as Harvey Toons, Fat Albert & the Cosby Kids, Postman Pat, Felix the Cat, Rocky & Bullwinkle and others to show Disney, Warner and Nick who's the real boss. And in case Christmas is around the corner, throw in some Rankin Bass specials so people can get excited again!
What could be next for Universal Animation Studios? - With Warner Bros. Animation now being gutted down by Zaslav and Disney & Pixar facing giant controversies over layoffs and box office bombs, the Rise of Gru and both DreamWorks Animation films (including Jeff Shell involved) could open the gates to their division once again and show undeniable proof that animation can be made for everyone to enjoy. And it's not exactly about kids nor adults. Universal can then reach out to fired employees of both Disney and Warner Bros. and pitch new and original ideas with a talented story, a line of characters and even memorable moments that can make anyone feel lighthearted about watching said content. Love it or hate it, Universal Animation Studios is certainly the future.
And that's all there is about my reasons why Universal should admire animation more than others. But my certain thoughts about it? Well, I have a feeling 2023 is about to get more interesting with the new animated Mario film and Trolls 3 set to be released in cinemas prior to Peacock re-releases. And as an avid Universal enjoyer, I appreciate their hard work now. :)

the history of animation in a nutshell
Early 1900s: hey what if comic strips could like move?
Late 1910s early 1920s hey what if we mashed this up with live action people?
late 1920s: hey what if this thing had sound?
Early to mid 1930s: hey what if this had people actually talking and also color?
late 1930s: hey you know that super cool movie that one lady animated with paper cut out silhouettes? What if we did that with painted cells? Would people even pay to see that? Never mind it turns out the answer is yes.
1940s: ah shit most of our animators got drafted and/or hate us now cause we weren’t paying them. IT’S PROPAGANDA TIME BABY. Also haha hitler got hit with a mallet and also the most racist depictions of Japanese people ever.
1950s to 1960s : oh what’s this newfangled thing? Television? What if you could air cartoons on it? Oh fuck no I ain’t paying that much to get the charecters to have different backgrounds and for the charecters to like, move fluidly. Also manga and anime are steadily growing more popular.
1970s: (Ralph Bakshi walks into a comics store and finds a furry comic) X rated animated movie? *cue the screams of mothers and their unsuspecting children now being introduced to the revolutionary idea that cartoons don’t equal kids stuff? WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?
1980s to 1990s: we can have full on animated Broadway musicals? Wait, what do you mean animated movies can count for the Oscar’s? What do you mean now they get their own catagory because the academy still thinks their for babies? Anime and manga are taking off in the west. SWEET JESUS WHAT DRUGS ARE THE JAPANESE ON SHOWING THIS SHIT TO KIDS. But also why is it so fucking good. Maybe some of these aren’t even meant for kids? Wait We can sell toys to kids with cartoons? Wait we can actually put effort into these cartoons on television? The fuck to you mean we can animate in 3D now? What do you mean we can have well animated, well written sitcom shows like the simpsons? What do you mean you can make cartoon charecters say fuck? What drugs are creators at Nickelodeon on? Do I even want to know?
2000s: oh my god, there is this one show that I really like cause it’s really well written and genuinely funny but I can’t talk about it because it’s animated and we all know cartoons are for babies right? Oh look it’s the transformers movie, look how far CGI has evolved so we can make the transformers in a movie.
2010s: holy shit I know these shows are for kids but they’re just well written and have so much meaningful things to say about the world. Wait, it’s cool to like cartoons now? They they have fandoms for this? Fuck yeah I’m in. (Enters one of the most notoriously toxic fandoms of all time) THEY HAVE GAY PEOPLE IN THESE SHOWS NOW? AND COMPLEX EMOTIONAL STORYTELLING? AND ADULT ANIMATED SHOWS CAN BE MORE THAN JUST SITCOMS WITH THE SAME JOKES AND STYLE? WHY IS IT THAT EVERY DISNEY CARTOON SINCE GRAVITY FALLS INCLUDE THINGS THAT GET MORE AND MORE FUCKED UP? WHY DO I FUCKING LOVE IT? WHY THE FUCK DID DISNEY DO THE OWL HOUSE DIRTY LIKE THAT?
2020s: I got this show I wanna pitch but it dosen’t fit into any box that the networks want and also I’m afraid that they’ll just randomly cancel it before I can finish the story I want to tell. Wait, I can just post the pilot on my YouTube channel, see if anybody actually likes this thing I made and just make the show independently? FUCK THE NETWORK! I AM THE NETWORK

My friend called me this morning and just started off with no hello or anything.
"You know in Once Upon A Studio where every Disney character comes to life? Where are the Pixar characters?"
"It's just the disney characters, the Pixar characters are probably at Pixar studios."
"They're probably fighting for their life."
"Huh."
"The Pixar characters are in life threatening situations every second in some of their movies. They're probably fighting a monster or something."
"Go to sleep."
And I couldn't stop thinking of how funny the idea was

Decided to redraw this SU fanart I drew shortly before turning 11:
Tumblr media
This is one of my earliest pieces of digital art! Looking at the episode list I'm pretty sure I drew this in April 2015. The original file (with more pixels) is sadly lost to time.
This was super nostalgic for me, including how it forcibly improved my art via hours upon hours I spent hunched over my drawing tablet, desperately trying to figure out how to make seven characters and a lion interact.

After apparently over a decade of asking, including references in Panty and Stocking as well as SSSS.Gridman, on top of being shunned in favor of two low-budget attempts at Western-made "anime" from studios no longer in business (Combiner Wars from Machinima and the War for Cybertron Trilogy from Rooster Teeth), Studio Trigger FINALLY gets to work on a Transformers project for the 40th anniversary.
What that project is, we don't know, probably a short for the 40th anniversary in the vein of the Gundam Perfect Mission short? Some sort of OVA? Or maybe someone finally decided to grant my wish and give Trigger the Energon Universe to adapt in the same vein as Delicious in Dungeon? Because that would be the anime of the decade if they did.
Whatever it is, it's sure going to look a lot nicer than Earthspark. And hey, if it is a short, Trigger shorts have led to bigger things down the line. Their relationship with Tsuburaya and the various Gridman anime began because they did a short for them for the Japan Animator Expo.
