Sorry for the lack of posting on this account or in general I've been going through bad burnout

John: See if your father left the mail in the car
CW: minor spoilers if you haven't played/finished Undertale
Tumblr media
The door is locked and your DAD has the CAR KEYS. You peer in through the driver's side window.
Now that I think about it, looking at the capitalized words, you can feel the influence it had on UNDERTALE's textual information hierarchy.
In UT not only some words are capitalized, their importance is sorted by color.
Yellow is important and useful. Red is the goal. Pink is the new yellow sparing option if you like danger. Blue might be true, useful, or not.
There's also the different color-coded magic used on the SOUL, but let's not dither further more, let's go back to Homestuck proper.
You don't see any mail, but you do see a GREEN PACKAGE.
Ah! Maybe it was relevant, they also use a color system (multiple actually!) in Homestuck.
John. You sent and received colored packages in the past. Granted the reader doesn't have access to this information yet, but you DO know. Stop acting like you have no idea of what it could be!
[…] There is also something underneath it that looks like a slip of paper.
Okay THIS looks mysterious and promising! *gasps* Could it be?!
Tumblr media
Could these items come in the mail? You don't see anything else that's usually in the mail, like bills and coupons. Maybe your DAD forgot to take this stuff inside.
Could be. To err is human after all. Be glad it's a mysterious package, ads and bills are boring. It's been ages since I received a letter or postcard. Huh. maybe John did forgot abut their colored package thing. Or maybe it's because it wasn't introduced yet to the narrative, like I mentioned before.
Tumblr media
Back inside it is.

How do you think Sans reacts to Papyrus’s death during the runs?
If you mean in the base game, uh... we kinda already know? If Papyrus is killed, Sans doesn't show up again until the final corridor, where he'll ask "if you have some sort of special power, isn't it your responsibility to do the right thing?"
If you answer yes (that you do have that responsibility), then he responds, without eyelights or sound font, "Then why'd you kill my brother?"
And if you answer no (you aren't responsible), you get "well, that's your viewpoint. i won't judge you for it.... You dirty brother killer."
There's also the line of description you get if you go on to have a concert with Shyren after killing Papyrus: "A hooded figure watches the commotion from afar." It replaces the line that mentions Sans selling toilet paper tickets to your concert, and of course, of all the characters with hoods in the game, he's the one who would be most concerned with tracking your actions after killing Papyrus. So, it makes the most sense to infer that this hooded figure is Sans.
So his reactions, to me at least, suggest that not only is he heartbroken, he's furious with you. But Sans isn't one for direct confrontations and shouting like Undyne is, so he watches, and I think he still tries to understand why you'd do something so horrible. But that doesn't stop him from being angry because there's no excuse for killing his brother, but sparing other monsters, that he can fathom.
I'm personally not a fan of depictions of Sans sobbing over Papyrus' dusty scarf--he just doesn't strike me as a guy whose first reaction is to cry. For my understanding of him, it makes more sense for him to go numb, initially, then save his anger for his parting shot in the last corridor. No matter what you answer, Sans gets the last word in, and it's always to remind you that you did not have to kill his brother.
So uh, yeah. that's what I think.

Bonus:

I thought it would be funny if Chara had some past grudge regarding Jerry, hence the mildly hostile narration in their encounter.

I love it when Sans doesn't know everything. Like, he has most of the pieces, but he can't actually complete the puzzle, if that makes sense?
I remember works where Sans knows everything about resets and stuff like that. And while that's fun and angsty (and oddly nostalgic to think about), I find it more interesting when Sans doesn't know some things. He's clever, but he does come to the wrong conclusions sometimes. And that's okay! It doesn't make Sans any less smart! He's just working with the bits and pieces he DOES have. And I think that's really interesting and cool!
A prime example of this is this scene:
Tumblr media
Here, he erroneously comes to the conclusion that someone is using an echo flower to trick Papyrus. But I think the only reason he comes to this conclusion is because he doesn't know Flowey's about.
Considering Flowey made a point to stay away from Sans, it's likely that he doesn't know about Flowey at all. After all, he doesn't remember resets. Once again, he uses the resources he has to come to a conclusion. Sometimes it's wrong, a lot of the time, it's scarily accurate.
And I like that about him. Sans is just missing a few puzzle pieces. If he somehow manages to obtain those puzzle pieces, however, I'm confident that he will actually reach the right conclusion. Like it'll all just click, and he'd be like, "ohhhh. that makes sense."
Let Sans have gaps in his knowledge. He's more, dare I say, "human" that way.

The Missing Scarf (Interlude) - part 18
How the skeleton brothers grew up and who took care of them depends on the timeline. Hard to keep track of it but at least the swap brothers managed pretty well... uh? ( ˙▿˙ )

also some implications from this one that i honestly just think are very funny
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
possible takeaways:
papyrus's name isn't actually papyrus, people just call him that because he writes that way, meaning he has a totally separate name or no name at all
he's named after the plant/paper, not the font
he's never heard of the papyrus font before

something i did when i saw a post of joku talking about this topic: it's an interesting concept but practically impossible because nothing stops artists from continuing to create (this is convenient for ink), based on this i tried to adjust the words of the creator of dreamtale herself to her characters under an objective truth— there is no limit to the multiverse

here's the post and the translation
