Mufasa: The Lion King Movie Review
So, I went to go see the new Lion King movie (obviously because I have an obsession with anything to do with one of my favorite Disney villains, ya'll simps can't judge me) and boy do I have a lot to say about. Please be nice in the comments! This is just my opinion and views and I needed to rant about it for a moment.
(Spoilers In Coming)
First of all, the music was okay. Not the best of Lin-Manuel Miranda's work but it was decent. The best song in the whole movie was probably the Villain's song or Rafiki's song. I personally liked the Villain's song better but that's just me being biased towards all villains in general. However, I did appreciate the fact that they recycled some of the original music from The Lion King at the end of the movie, it was really nostalgic for me. That being said, the song they played for Mufasa when he roared at pride rock was the same song played for Simba and was associated with Simba first. So, in my opinion, to use that song as a way to connect Kiara to Mufasa was a big copout (you'll be seeing this a lot in the movie) and a poor way to make that type of connection. It honestly would've been better to just use the background music from the Milele song or the Circle of Life song to help drive home that connection between Kiara and Mufasa rather than using a song originally meant for Simba and his rise to power. Now, I know you could argue that the song is be interpreted as a song played for every 'Becoming King' moment in the Lion King but that wasn't its original purpose. Not to mention that song was designed for a more somber experience than the one Mufasa faced. The song was originally, in my opinion, made out to create a mix of feeling of sadness for the fire and loss of the Pride Lands after Sumba's return but as well as the hope for the future of rebuilding it all. But that's not what Mufasa was facing. There was nothing to rebuild or be somber about as 'Milele' or the 'Pride Lands' were flourishing and had won a victory. In other words, it made no sense to play that specific song during Mufasa's and Kiara's "bonding scene" as the music had nothing to do with what Mufasa was feeling or the state of 'Milele' at the time.
There's probably a lot more that could be said about the music but those are just the things that I noticed. Moving on to the next thing for my bored ass to complain about, the character development of Mufasa. Or, more accurately, the lack thereof. You see, throughout the entire movie, except for when he is a kid, Mufasa is portrayed as a smart, noble, kind, and kingly person. There was no 'becoming king' in his personality, he just always was king. There was no lesson to learn for him to become the perfect king and the sad excuse of a "lesson" provided in the movie was simply provided as filler almost to keep people from asking questions about what character development Mufasa actually had in the movie. As for Scar's (or Taka's) character development, it was all sudden and rushed almost. One moment he was a loving brother and super brave, trying to save a lion cub his own age from a crocodile, the next he was a coward and being manipulated into a lazy king by his dad, and the next he was a manipulative person. What?! They really did Scar dirty with his backstory. I mean, Disney literally said "Guys fight over girls, right? Let's just have Scar turn evil because of a girl." and that was it. Not to mention, has Disney even seen their own movies!! One of Scar's most iconic lines claims/points out that Scar has/had always been smarter than Mufasa whereas Mufasa had always been the stronger of the two. But Disney just threw that line out the window and decided "Nope! We're going to do whatever fits our agenda best." That's not how this works Disney!! Watch your own fucking movies for once and learn a thing or two, would you?! Please! For the sanity of the children who grew up watching only Disney movies on repeat. Scar was always supposed to be clever and smart, and you can't just throw in a half-assed scene with a half-assed reason for Scar to suddenly go evil and grow a brain. It's just shitty and lazy character development writing.
As for my next complaint, we will be focusing on the grand idea of PROPERLY EXPLAINING SHIT! Disney could have explained so much in this movie but they chose not to. For example, they didn't explain how 'Milele' gained the Elephant Graveyard or how the hyenas were cast out of the Pride Lands (because if you notice in the background at the end of the movie there are still hyenas living in 'Milele'). They also didn't explain how Scar became so close with the Hyenas. All of these things are key background mysteries that Lion King fans (speaking for myself here) have been wondering about for years! But Disney just ignored these questions and chose to just add on to the shit they had already created rather than explain the shit they already had. And what was even more disappointing was the fact that when they did make a reference to The Lion King movie it was either overplayed or barely noticeable. For example, they overplayed the reference to Mufasa's death in the Lion King with all the "Scar grabbing onto Mufasa" scenes. There were so many of them, in my opinion, and it really dampened the effect it was probably supposed to have on the audience. As for the barely noticeable details, the part where Scar made marks in the rocks (in my eyes) was a small reference to the claw marks he left on the stone wall during his first scene in the original Lione King movie (you may not think it was, but I noticed that Scar was the only one who ever scratched at stones or rocks in, I believe, in both the original Lion King movie and the Mufasa movie. Let me know if I'm wrong though.)
Anyways, this is my review for the new Mufasa: The Lion King movie. Hope it made sense and please be nice in the comments. Opinions are subjective but not always right (I don't say this in a bad way, I'm just saying that opinions can be both valid and wrong including my own). Bye guys!

The review pointed out that Westpac's problem loans had been much in line with those of the National Australia Bank in the late 1980s but had recently deteriorated and were closer to the level of ANZ, whose performance had been adversely affected by its acquisition of the UK bank Grindlays PLC. The Westpac document noted:
Westpac had no such external influences. Its problems must therefore have been driven by a drop in the quality of the loan portfolio in its base business . . . Westpac has performed worse than the market. Westpac is presently underperforming shareholder expectations as a result of a reduction in loan quality. The general reason is that the credit risk management process has not yet made the transition from operating in a regulated environment. The specific reason is that Westpac has not been practising portfolio management . . . Management of credit risk is presently carried out through a combination of management of individual credits and a procedures-oriented approach to credit policy. The dominant concentration is on the approval process for individual credits. The theory behind this approach is that if individual credits are good, then the sum of the individual credits must also be good.

Well, Final Fantasy VII: Rebirth is Underperforming...
There’s a horrible tragedy in gaming. Something that I have learned is that all it takes to destroy something amazing is one failure. So many AAA gaming companies are just one major failure away from their entire company sinking. Ubisoft has had underperforming games for years now, and it has made them in such dire financial straits that one more and they will be looking for buyers. Rumor has…

GO SUPPORT QUEER MEDIA!!
I'm getting so fucking tired of queer shows getting cancelled left and right... EVEN WHEN THEY'RE ACTUALLY DOING GREAT SOMETIMES EXPLICITLY JUST BC THEY'RE QUEER (cough... the owl house... cough).
Also do y'all remember when Dahmer was the first thing that came up under the "LGBTQ shows" section on Netflix and how that was considered "good" representation? 🙃
I know we make this joke every time but seriously the Imperfects getting cancelled is my villain origin story. I'm so fucking tired of Netflix burying its small queer shows under bigger releases, doing fuck all to promote them, then shrugging and saying they underperformed so they gotta go. And of course this was one of like 7 shows with an asexual character and one of like two with an actual ace main character. God I am so FUCKING OVER IT.
Anyway, go stream Dead End: Paranormal Park, The Bastard Son and the Devil Himself, Young Royals and Warrior Nun to support more queer shows that Netflix has buried under Big Mouth, Manifest, From Scratch, Blockbuster, Love is Blind and whatever other shows they're actively promoting right now.
#underperforming#Note: nothing against having queer villains since we need all sorts of representation and stuff but that was too much tbh#Also ig at leats Big Mouth has good queer rep...#idk I'm still fuckinf pissed#please go support queer media bc it seems that if we don't no one else will :/#I hate this tactice of queer shows getting no advertisment and then getting cancelled for#UGH I HATE PEOPLE SOMETIMES#queerphobia

Alonso believes the condemnation has been unwarranted as he declared that Stroll has been unfortunate to be riddled with uncompetitive cars in his career.

Have you watched Transformers One?
Yes, and it is—no exaggeration or hyperbole—the best Transformers movie to date.
And not only is it the best Transformers movie
it's also an actually good movie.
I came in with high standards prepared to judge the hell out of Optimus & Megatron's new origin stories, but no they pulled it off, I 100% believed that within the span of a movie they had both evolved from a couple of nobodies into the leaders we know & love. They made it work.
The one downside is I would've wanted to get to know more of the characters better (especially more Cons), but after so many "we've thrown thirty Transformers at you and only got to know one or two well enough to form an emotional connection, if even that much," I think maybe dialing back the cast was the right decision until they've mastered making good Transformers movies.
Sentinel Prime was a VERY good Sentinel Prime, kinda 1/2 IDW and 1/2 TFA.
The art style's gorgeous, I love TF continuities that go for a colorful cartoony easy-to-read CGI style.
Iacon is beautiful, GREAT city design. All the environments & vehicles are great but I can't talk about the others without spoilers.
Every single background character is SOMEONE, you could watch the movie just looking at the background characters and going "HEY THAT'S— AND THAT'S—" and have a great time.
Steve Buscemi is Starscream.
10/10.
#transformers#transformers one#maccadam#(the movie's also underperforming in spite of great reviews—probably because everyone expects bayverse now—so go see it! tell your friends!#(THIS is the kind of TF movie we want them to make WAY more of!)

if i may... late night bike rides with lighter 🫶
whether you know how to ride a bike or not, most of the late night bike rides are on his bike. he makes sure that everyone is asleep before heading out with you. this way, he could have your arms wrapped around his waist as he drives out of blazewood. the road is pretty smooth for the most part so he takes this as a chance to sneak his hand onto yours, as if to fix your hand placement. in reality, it’s his way of knowing that you’re there, holding onto him.
it gets colder during the night in the outer ring. no blazing sun, the skies are clear, the iridescent edges of multiple hollows. he knows the perfect spot to stop at that had the best views. he clumsily removes his gloves off before putting a hand out for you to hold as you got off the bike. he has all these sharp parts on his gloves and he does not want you getting poked by it.
the stars twinkled across the night sky, it was breathtaking. with the outer ring depending on oil rigs, carbon emissions were high and yet it seemed like this was the only area untouched by it. your eyes may have been on the stars but his eyes were on you. you’d tell him to take his shades off because what’s the point of wearing them at night but he doesn’t want you to see how smitten he is.
it started off with just sitting on the ground. then it progressed to laying down side by side while talking. after a while, he’d notice your change in speech. how you’re talking slower and quieter. that was when he knew that you were getting a little tired. so as usual, he makes sure you’ve got something comfy under your head.
using his arm, he’d guide you to place your head on it. he’s definitely going insane at this moment but you were too busy trying to fight off your sleepiness to even notice his flushed face. you were practically talking nonsense now at this point and then a sudden silence mid sentence.
he doesn’t dare wake you up, instead choosing to watch you sleep. the way your chest goes up and down with every breath, your body unconsciously moving closer to his, searching for some sort of warmth. with his scarf, he’s slowly wrapping it around your neck instead. it’s not that big but it’s enough for the time being. the sound of your breathing and the sounds of wind in the outer ring, he finds it serene enough to rest his eyes, falling asleep right next to you.
you’re woken up by the soft light of the sunrise, eyelids fluttering open. you don’t see lighter next to you but his scarf is still wrapped around you. his voice calls out to you, casually leaning against his bike. he’s facing the sunrise but his eyes are on you. he wouldn’t mind doing this again, as long as it means he gets to spend time like this with you.

Interesting to me that even AMuS highlighted how unusual it was for Red Bull's Head of PR to be with Daniel for his media rounds, while also reiterating that Daniel still has Christian Horner's full backing and support. I also think Visa advocating for Daniel is a HUGE boost for him given their sponsorship deal is worth upwards of 20 million a year.
via: AMuS | Bleibt Daniel Ricciardo bis zum Saisonende?
#also very interesting to me that CAA aren't at the race weekend if this was likely going to be Daniel's last - I know nick is on honeymoon#but Daniel has other agents that I think would be there if this was truly looking dire#I think the complete silence from Daniel's management in the media is a good sign and we'd be hearing their side through media links#if they truly thought red bull was about to oust daniel. they'd be pushing the checo is the driver underperforming story#I also think Jack would be there getting content if this might be the end#anyway just my two cents#daniel ricciardo#dr3#singapore gp 2024
