sirius self-isolates post-prank. he and remus have a blowup fight in which they breakup, james is siding with remus, etc etc. barty, the nosy bitch that he is, needs to know what happened between them. so he cozies up to sirius at a party who is alone, vulnerable, and drinking heavily. they hook up, it's insane, so they keep doing it. randomest couple in the world to those on the outside but pretty soon they're only talking to each other

their relationship is VOLATILE. sirius quickly like. morphs into barty crouch jr. they enable one another's recklessness/self destructiveness so bad. but sirius is lonely and barty provides ample distraction from all the shit with his friends. meanwhile barty is experiencing a confusing amount of human emotion - i think he would actually have feelings for sirius, which actually makes him kind of hate him. he tries to keep it as casual as possible (in name only, because nothing else about them is casual) and is constantly doing sirius dirty/cheating/gaslighting the shit out of him etc. they fight all the time, screaming, physical fights and then they fuck nasty. theyre also always getting into some crazy shit, record-breaking numbers of detentions for them both. they break up like four times a week and it lasts two hours

it's a tragedy. barty has real feelings, sirius is using him as a distraction. barty picks up on that first and becomes determined to try and ruin sirius so his friends won't want him anymore regardless. it doesn't work, remus forgives sirius, and the relationship doesn't last very long after that
