Thomas in the match against Freiburg won his 710th game and also became the player with the most games for FC Bayern, beating the record of Sepp Maier (709) who held the record for 45 years.
He also surpassed Maier in terms of Bundesliga games played as Sepp had 473 and Thomas has played 475 so far, making him the player with the most league games played for FCB and entering the top 5 of players with the most league games overall behind only Klaus Fichtel (477 for Schalke 04), Michael Lameck (518 with VfL Bochum), Manfred Kaltz (581 with Hamburger SV) and Charly Korbel (602 with Eintracht Frankfurt).
With 341 Bundesliga victories, he is the Bundesliga's winningest player
Thomas also scored his 150th Bundesliga goal in the match against Freiburg and 245 in his career, Thomas is on the podium of most goals for FCB behind only Robert Lewandowski (344) and Gerd Müller (566).
With 217 assists to date (in the Bundesliga alone) and around 300 in his career, Thomas is the player with the most assists in the history of FCB and the Bundesliga (he also holds the record for most assists in a single league season with 21). No one compares to him in the Bundesliga, the next on the podium are Franck Ribery and Marco Reus with 124 each, and globally only Lionel Messi is above him.
Thomas is also the German player with the most UCL appearances, he is also the player with the most goals in the top competition and in terms of wins he is only behind Cristiano Ronaldo (115).
Thomas has won everything at club level and at national team level he won the most important competition, collecting 33 team titles and 4 individual titles including a golden boot(2010) and silver boot(2014) of the world cup, silver ball of the world cup(2014), best young player of the world cup(2010) and 2 times top scorer of the Pokal (2009/10 and 2013/14), only Toni Kroos (34) has more titles than Thomas.
With 17 seasons playing professionally for Bayern, Thomas enters the top 4 of players with the most seasons for a single team, only Manfred Kaltz, Charly Korbel and Klaus Fichtel have played more seasons for a single team (19 seasons each).
With his goal against Freiburg, he also reached the record that few have achieved, which is to score at least one goal in 16 consecutive seasons but the only one to do so for FCB.
With 12 league titles, Thomas is the top winner, to put it in perspective, he has more than twice as many as Borussia Dortmund, three times as many as Werder Bremen, four times as many as Stuttgart, six times as many as Kaiserslautern and 12 times as many as Leverkusen.
Thanks for everything Legend, Icon, Thomas, Ois Guade 🙂↕️💕

tw: rant
i don't think i will ever get used to the behaviour of some fans. i don't think everyone who calls themselves a barcelona fan is a culer. I think that is the biggest difference. barcelona fans just enjoy winning together, but when the team loses, they ignore 'en las buenas y en las malas'.
fine, i admit that araujo's mistake was stupid and unnecessary. imo ter stegen would have dealt with barcola. and even if he had scored, it wouldn't have been the end of the world. we had a two-goal advantage at the time. even if we had conceded, we would still have had the advantage. but to say that the whole game collapsed because of Araujo…? it's insane. because that is not the case, we really could still have handled PSG without him. i don't understand and i will never understand how you can go from "best cb in the world" and begging him to stay at barcelona to "sell him", " he cost us the ucl" in 5 seconds. nevertheless, he is our captain. how can we forget all the moments in which he saved us? ONE MISTAKE SHOULD NOT CAUSE SUCH EMOTIONS IF YOU ARE A CULER. now, more than ever, we need to support araujo. we have certainly seen players who break down psychologically after such instants.
generally, i've seen so many rubbish comments on twitter. according to some 'fans', we should sell the whole team, xavi should leave barcelona right here and now. it seems that even an hour before the match, everyone was praising our team and our players, how good they are. i have seen endless comments on ter stegen's performance. imo, we have one of the best goalkeepers of our time. you have to remember that when araujo was sent off ter stegen had the biggest responsibility and he was the most vulnerable. in the end his efforts were most reflected in the last PSG goal. he fought till the last minute. next, "let's sell kounde and leave cancelo behind". kounde took a long time to recover from the injury he suffered in fall BUT now that he's back to his old form i would dare to say that we would not be able to find a better RB than him; one match after the other he's always consistent and gives his all. cancelo certainly made a lot of mistakes yesterday, most memorably the one with dembele which led to a penalty. but again, he's a very versatile player: rb, lb and can even play in the midfield. that's the kind of player we need at barcelona. although even I admit that i was pessimistic about him at the beginning of the season, i think that over time he has convinced us that we MUST keep him in our team. for the midfield, the most hate i've seen was for fdj. definitely not his best performance, he was kinda slow. but he is consistent despite this game. we can trust him and he fits in our midfield. i don't even want to talk about our youngsters, who are getting different opinions every week and who are constantly being blamed for everything. i want to remind some of them that most of them are not even adults. they do not have the experience that, let's say, araujo, lewa or gundo have. but not to see that they are our BRIGHT future is simply incomprehensible to me. cubarsi, yamal - impressive performances yesterday (especially yamal who created the goal but was unfortunately subbed off). at the same time (let's pretend that they were bad), they must make mistakes. how can they be expected to gain experience if they don't make any mistakes? with this kind of feedback from supposed 'fans' we should bench them and not even take any children from la masia, because such comments are emotionally devastating for them (i repeat they are 16, 17, 18..). And finally xavi… he dragged us out of the dark days. he won la liga and cdr last season. he keeps us going this season. we've had a tough season, lots of injuries, lots of losses, but we're still SECOND in the league, we played in the ucl quarterfinals after so many years. that's thanks to the players who love this club and a manager who would give EVERYTHING for this club. maybe he makes some questionable choices sometimes, but to think we have a better choice than him is just crazy. i trusted, i trust and i will trust xavi until the end. history is repeating itself again and again and it is barcelona 'fans' and the Spanish media who are to blame.
my point is that some 'fans' should go outside and touch grass, maybe then they will realise that their FIFA tactics are not based on reality. life happens, bad matches happen, bad luck is also real.

so sorry if this is a stupid question but can you explain the new ucl format?
Of course. So instead of the group phase with four teams per group, it now has a 'league phase' with all 36 competing clubs in one massive table.
Each team plays eight matches in the first phase, instead of the previous six. Instead of playing three opponents twice (home and away), each team will play a different team in every game (4 home and 4 away). There are four pots for the league phase with 9 teams each and every team will play against two teams out of each pot, including their own (they will play one match against a team from each pot at home, and one away; a team cannot draw a team from the same country as theirs in the league phase). The league phase will take until late January instead of December, and the top eight sides on the table will directly qualify for a 16-team knockout round. The other eight places will be decided by a two-legged knockout play-off by the teams who finish between 9th and 24th on the table. 25th and below is directly eliminated. (Round of 16 and beyond is seeded, which means that the two teams who finished 1st and 2nd in the league phase cannot face each other until the final). That means that the total amount of games has increased from 125 to 189 matches, with each team playing a minimum of eight - instead of six - and a maximum of 17 matches.

i don’t think it’s a bad thing to say publicly if he’s also saying it to them personally. as long as it’s not coming as a shock to them with what he’s saying it’s genuinely not that serious, they’re kids yes and i think they need encouragement but they can take criticism too and they will their entire career it’s how it works. the older players love the kids i’m sure, and they know they have an immense future, but i can imagine there’s a little bit of frustration too going into ucl games with 16 and 17 year olds
Why would there be any frustration when they're performing better than all our older players? Lamine is our best forward and cubarsi is arguably our best defender in the last few games so I honestly don't think there should be any room for frustration. I'd just rather he doesn't say stuff like that in public

i’m curious to know what ur theories are omg!! (on why ney left) but yes, we’ll truly never know it really did seem to come out of nowhere
Okay we’ll start off with my most probable theory:
1) the PSG game. Oh the Barca v. PSG comeback game. The Remontada. That game still makes me sick lol. It was a spectacular game. Arguably one of, if not, the biggest comeback in UCL history. Leo scored a penalty, but Neymar was the true genius of the game. Neymar scored an amazing free kick and penalty (which it’s so interesting that he took them too btw when normally Leo would take them). And he also provided the amazing assist to Sergio Roberto in literally the last minute to secure the win. However, that one photo of Leo went VIRALLLLL and he seemed to be getting all of the credit for the game. Part of me thinks that really pissed Neymar off, and he was literally in his prime if not getting to be there, and maybe he realized the only way to prove his greatness was to get out of a club with Lionel Messi there. So while he truly did love Leo as a person/teammate/idol, he was the one person standing in his way to achieving ultimate greatness. I think in the beginning he was truly about the team mentality and wanting to help Leo be the best (he literally said that in his debut), but Neymar isn’t the type of person to only strive to be that. He wants to the best (he’s always been quoted saying this too lol), and he wants to WIN. Him being the leader? Even better. If this was the reason, I don’t really blame him too much. I wish he never left, but underappreciation can really drive someone up a wall.
2) there is a chance that this move could’ve been prompted even earlier than when Neymar had left. Dani Alves joined PSG in 2017, and it was no surprise that he had urged Neymar to join him. He was even quoted once saying that the only way for Neymar to be the greatest was to get out of Leo’s shadow at Barca. I’m not saying he instilled the idea into his brain, but it seems like he was thinking what some other people were too.
3) the money. €222 million buy out clause is insane, and the wages PSG was paying Neymar was out of this world. Literally his move broke the market. There’s a chance that maybe that’s why he left (although I doubt it. Mans was making enough) unlesssssss his father had something to do with it.
4) the father. While Neymar’s dad said he never wanted Neymar to leave Barcelona, there’s a part of me that thinks that maybe he helped push the decision. He could’ve either wanted it for money, orrrrr there’s a chance that he could’ve pushed the idea into Neymar’s head that he needed to be the greatest. Potential constant comparisons between him and other players that made him feel like he wasn’t good enough. That he had to leave and bring a team to its first UCL to prove his worth. I’m not sure.
5) this is my delusional ass fanfic ass brain that should be taken LIGHTLY. But Neymar announcing for the first time he was thinking of leaving Barca for PSG at Leo’s wedding??? Um??? Who does that? At a wedding? At Leo’s wedding?? It’s interesting is it not? And the Instagram pictures he posted of the wedding afterwards and the caption… it was just iffy and unusual to me. Maybe the pain of staying would’ve been too much. I don’t know. (AGAIN TAKE THIS VERY LIGHTLY THERE IS A REASON WHY IT IS NEAR THE BOTTOM OF THIS LIST 😭😭 — delulu brain over here okay I am claiming absolutely nothing) Also, around this time Leo was getting REALLY close to Suarez. I wonder if Neymar felt abandoned somehow and that also made him want to leave too.
6) maybe he just didn’t believe in the team that much anymore? The 16/17 season was really bad in comparison to the prior one. Maybe he foresaw Barca’s downfall and wanted to get out before his reputation could’ve been ruined because of it.
Anyways these are all my dumb little theories. Take them with a grain of salt. I don’t know anything nor claim to know anything. But these are the best theories my brain could conjure up 🤷♀️

Hello!!⭐️ If it's not too much trouble, could you please rec some iconic Spurs games for a newbie to watch? Maybe Poch era or whatever comes to your mind first! If your cool Spursy friends want to rec some as well, I'd love that. Thank you💞 have a good week🙏
OMG yes i'd be more than happy to tell you any games my little goldfish brain can remember!!! firs things first though welcome to spurs!!!!!!! also if anyone else thinks of others hopefully they'll add them cause like my memory's awful
I'll go poch era onwards.
iconic but before 16/17 would be the spurs 2 v arsenal 1 game in 2015, the 5-3 against Chelsea at home but also the battle of the bridge 2-2 which everyone should watch just cause it WILL come up when talking about spurs and it's such a perfect encapsulation of Tottenham being Tottenham and also if i ever see mark clattenburg on the street it's over for that prick.
16/17
idk how many upon reflection are super iconic? even if the season as a whole was but i will say any game where we won by a lot of goals is worth watching just because we were so fun to watch at that time and we did it quite a bit. our home game against Chelsea was the dele show and it was soooooooo good idk how well it holds up on rewatch but like that was the Moment
17/18
again i think there's a couple where we won by a shit ton of goals esp at the end of the season so i'd give them a watch if you have time. we were actually so good in the ucl this season we were so unlucky against juve but i'd deffo recommend the dortmund games and THE real Madrid game at home like lives were changed, history was written, depression cured. the 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool which of course i missed but harry kane sent lovren to the retirement and oh my god i think we also had THE 2-2 game against liverpool this season too which is iconic if not because we were good then just because of the beef that it created. wouldn't watch the whole game but the 2-0 win against united where eriksen scored the opener in 11 seconds. THE WIN AT STAMFORD BRIDGE LITERALLY ICONIC oh my god i have been chasing the high of that game every single day of my life since it happened. the 5-4 against Leicester isn't iconic iconic but it lives in my head rent free for being the most chaotic thing I've ever seen as the scoreline suggests. wait okay like this will not be iconic to you but the 6-1 against rochdale (which was during our Embarrassing era of constantly needing replays) where kwp got his goal in the snow? top of the charts in my household!!!
actually this season had so many good games damn maybe we need to talk about this season more too
18/19
the whole ucl campaign literally the definition of iconic i want to run back into her arms all the time even if the wheels were falling off this club already you could forget it when you were knocking city out of the UCL. idk if the group games are as good now cause we know we got to the final but at the time that shit was literally do or die like we could have gone out on my birthday it was awful. but idk i always like to watch the highlights on youtube from the first group game to the ajax game just for the whole experience again. but obvs the first leg against dortmund, second leg against city, second leg against ajax are some of the most iconic games in spurs history
us beating united 3-0 at old trafford was a good game and "moura is practically like a new signing" was a fun 5 minutes until moura logged into twitter. us beating chelsea at home always good and great and amazing. dele, kane and son scoring we literally used to be such a Club. us knocking arsenal out of the carabao was very funny and iconic of us but i also might just be remembering danny's interview afterwards where he humbled them
19/20
i think our win against city was the only iconic thing we had that whole season. there was iconic in other ways (like losing to colchester) but i would only wish my worst enemy to watch that.
20/21
again iconic games but mostly in a bad way like us v everton in the fa cup. we did smash united 1-6 at old trafford though which was very iconic and cool of us
idk if you need any games after this so i wont cause this is already pretty long but i hope there's at least one good game in here you enjoy watching
#the amount of thoughts and memories and everything that went through my head while making this#wow i love spurs so much but like... we're so spurs#like just remembering who scored and who we've had in this team across the seasons i feel so nostalgic and full of love but also bafflement#i tried to just do the games and not waffle on too much but like i have also definitely done that too im so sorry

UCL: Group leaders Arsenal draw with PSV Eindhoven
Much-changed Arsenal were held to a draw at PSV Eindhoven in their final match of the Champions League group stage. The Gunners had already won Group B and manager Mikel Arteta made eight changes from the weekend's Premier League loss at Aston Villa. It led to a disjointed performance, although Arsenal took the lead through Eddie Nketiah after 42 minutes. But PSV earned a deserved point via Yorbe Vertessen's fine equaliser. Nketiah fired Arsenal ahead three minutes before the end of a first half in which they had been put under significant pressure by PSV, who had also already qualified for the knockout stages as group runners-up. It was a superb finish by the England forward, controlling a low ball from the right before striking into the bottom-right corner from the edge of the area. But Arsenal were pegged back five minutes after the break through Vertessen's right-footed strike off the left post. Both sides had good chances to find a second-half winner. Ismael Saibari hit the near post before Guus Til shot across the face of goal late on. Arsenal did have the ball in the net, Jakub Kiwior heading home after beating PSV keeper Walter Benitez to a free-kick, but it was ruled out for offside against Gabriel. Nketiah was denied one-on-one by Benitez in the sixth minute of stoppage time, before Leandro Trossard fired the rebound over. Arsenal conclude the group stage with 13 points from six games - four ahead of PSV - and will face one of the other seven runners-up in the last 16. "Overall, I think, very positive," Arteta said of his side's return to the Champions League group stages for the first time since 2016-17. "Having not been in the competition for six or seven years and having a team that hasn't got that much experience, I think we've competed really well. "Overall, finishing first with a game to play we have to be really happy. Now we have to close that chapter until February and make sure when that chapter opens up again we're in the best place to compete against another top side." Read the full article
