i want to talk about the Thunderbolts logo because i feel it has more significance than just “one bullet for each of the leads”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
like duh, there are six bullets and six members of the supposed “team”, but the bullets are pointed at each other instead of outward like the Avengers formation:
Tumblr media
this logo is reminding us that the Thunderbolts aren’t like the Avengers, who were friends at best and coworkers at worst. sure, it’s likely some of the Thunderbolts will be friendly with each other (think Ava and Antonia, Yelena and Bucky) but some of them already hate each other (Bucky and Walker, Yelena and Alexei) or have reason to hate each other (Antonia and Alexei). what makes the Thunderbolts a team of anti-heroes is that all of them have dark pasts, but they can still be clearly sorted into people who chose those pasts and people who were forced, and those who chose darkness (Alexei and Walker) are outnumbered. that makes the Thunderbolts an unlikely “team”, to the point where i hesitate to even call them one.
Tumblr media
however, i feel like the asterisk is an oversimplification of the group dynamic. Ava, for example, has no previous interaction with any of these people and thus no reason to metaphorically aim her “bullet” at any of them. Alexei, on the other hand, is likely to be hated by both Yelena and Antonia, so his “bullet” should have two others aiming at it.
anyway i’m probably overanalyzing but i’d love to hear others’ thoughts on this!
