What is this magnetic attraction to a structure that they already know is compromised? It might be that the house—as language, as ideology—is the only place we can run to. It’s all we have to protect us, even when it fails at providing protection.

January 14, 2020
Cutter and Rutger’s family’s were taking a vacation up in the mountains and spending most of the vacation snowboarding and skiing, they were also spending Cutter’s birthday at the snow.
Cutter was peaceful sleeping under her many layers of blankets and was extremely warm in her little cocoon, she didn’t hear Rutger quietly walking into her room as he sat on her bed gently shaking her.
“Cut.” Rutger softly whispered making her groan and turn her head hiding her face in her pillow, “Come on Cutta.” He softly cooed making her groan and turn her head to him squinting her eyes at him.
“Happy birthday.” Rutger softly spoke leaning down pressing a soft kiss to her forehead making her cheeks flush a light pink.
Cutter hummed squeezing his hand in thanks and noticed how the sun was not even up and it was still very dark outside, “Why is the sun not up and i’m up.” Cutter grumpily grumbled.
“It’s a surprise, just get dressed in your snow gear and meet me downstairs.” Rutger told her before smiling at her once more before getting up and leaving her room.
Cutter groaned rubbing her face, Rutger was so lucky he is her best friend anyone else she would have smacked for waking her up this early.
Cutter very reluctantly got out of bed and slowly slipped on her snow clothes and excited her room heading down the stairs of the cabin seeing some of the lights on and she noticed one of the walls all decorated with silver streamers and a number sixteen balloons.
Cutter walked through the bottom floor and found Rutger in the kitchen, she smiled softly seeing a very cute cake and a bouquet of white tulips, her favorite flower.
Cutter picked up the car in the flowers and raised an eyebrow seeing they were from Rutger.
“Happy sixteenth birthday.” Rutger softly whispered pressing a gentle kiss to her cheek.
Cutter was glad Rutger was standing behind her so he didn’t see the pleased smile she was trying to hide.
“Thank you Rut.” Cutter softly whispered back grabbing his hand and squeezing it once before dropping it.
“Alright let’s get going.” Rutger told her walking to the front door picking his backpack up and putting it own before opening front door getting blasted with the freezing cold air.
Cutter shook her head fondly as she followed Rutger into the freezing cold, the things she does for her best friend.
Cutter followed Rutger for a good fifteen minutes of comforting silence as they hiked a small snow mountain.
Once they reached the top Cutter’s breath was caught in her throat at his beautiful the view was from up there especially as the sun was slowly starting to come up as well.
Rutger plopped down on the snow opening his backpack as Cutter admired the view in front of her.
Rutger pulled out two thermoses, handing one to Cutter as she sat down next to him. Cutter took a small sip not sure what was in the thermos but was pleasantly surprised it was her favorite hot chocolate, the one Rutger makes.
Cutter leaned her head on his shoulder she happily sipped on her hot chocolate with Rutger as they watched the sunrise together.
“Thank you.” Cutter softly spoke after a few minutes of peaceful silence, she was grateful to have someone as special and kind as Rutger in her life.
“Always.” Rutger promised squeezing her shoulder before reaching into his back pack and grabbing a small box and handing it to Cutter looking nervous.
“Happy birthday.” Rutger watched her nervously as she gently opened the small black box.
Cutter’s eyes widen in shock as she delicately picked up the small necklace, it was a star, her favorite star. Something she has never told anyone.
“How did you?” Cutter looked up at Rutger in a shock and disbelief.
“I pay attention.” Rutger nonchalantly shrugged but was smiled pleased glad Cutter likes it.
“It’s perfect.” Cutter whispered in awe gently tracing her finger over the small star charm.
“Good.” Rutger smiled satisfied that he picked a necklace she seems to love.
“Help me put it on?” Cutter asked him softly holding the necklace out to him.
Rutger eagerly nodded and gently took the necklace as Cutter turned around pushing her hair to one side of her shoulders.
Rutger softly wrapped the necklace around her neck and clipped it close.
He watched as she turned back around facing him again, “Beautiful.” Rutger mumbled staring at her with stars in his eyes.
Cutter froze hearing him, she didn’t understand why she felt what she feels for Rutger but she isn’t ready to figure that out yet.
Rutger gently pushed her hair behind her ear and smiled sadly at her seeing the fear on her face, “I know.” Rutger knows Cutter better than anyone and knows how much she gets uncomfortable because of her own emotions and hates feeling vulnerable.
Which is also why Rutger knows when Cutter feels something for him back, he notices the pink that dust her cheeks because oh him and the glances she makes when she thinks he is not looking. Rutger is more than happy to wait as long as he needs to until Cutter is comfortable, Cutter is still his best friend and that is more than enough.
“I do have feelings for you Cutter but i know you aren’t ready for anything, i will happily wait for however long you need because i am perfectly content being just your best friend.” Rutger softly confessed but also reassured her, he did not want to make her feel bad because he understood.
“Now we better get back everyone else is probably wake by now.” Rutger smiled at her reassuring her again, he didn’t want her birthday to be sad but he did want her to know he does care for her romantically but is happy with being just friends.
Cutter reluctantly nodded and toon Rutger’s hand standing up as they grabbed their stuff before staring the hike back down the snowy hill.

In The Strangers, one of Halloween’s latter day descendants, the victims ask the three killers their motive. One answers, “Because you were home.” The home, therefore, brings the danger as much as it insulates us from it. While it is generally true what Bachelard claims—namely, that “the house shelters daydreaming, the house protects the dreamer, the house allows one to dream in peace”—the fact that we believe this wholly, that we allow the house to become a sanctuary in our minds, that we let down our guard in the home, is not only what can turn those dreams into nightmares, but worse, it is what can wake us from our dreams into the worst form of nightmare: a living horror.

5-9’s Album of the Month Podcast – Episode 3 Out Now!
The latest episode of the 5-9 Album of the Month Podcast is now available and, if I do say so myself, it may just be the best yet. As ever I join 5-9 Editor Andrew Belt and Check This Out’s Kiley Larsen to review five high profile album releases from the past month in music, and ultimately name one as our Album of the Month at the end of the discussion. With some divided opinions between us this month, which one reigned supreme?
For a stacked March, the five albums we dove into were:
Fantasy by M83 (Poll winner, thanks to everyone who voted!)
The Record by Boygenius
LIES by LIES
Rides On by The Nude Party
Praise A Lord Who Chews But Which Does Not Consume; (Or Simply, Hot Between Worlds) by Yves Tumor
If you want to listen to this latest episode simply click the link below, but also be sure to follow 5-9 Blog on Instagram and Twitter for more news and polls relating to the podcast, along with other great content like film reviews, sports articles and more.

Album & EP Recommendations
Lies by LIES
If you’ve been following me on social media these past few weeks, it is no secret that I am an enormous fan of the self-titled debut from American Football side project, LIES. On this month’s podcast, you can also hear me gush over the album and just how much I have been blown away listening to Mike and Nate Kinsella’s symphonic and frequently dazzling new opus.
When it came to writing the review however, I was really struggling to sum up my thoughts on this record, along with how special and moving I have found it. Thankfully though, my partner in writing and fellow Mike Kinsella super fan, Kiley Larsen, did find the words. Reading his wonderful review on this record, it captured its greatness so perfectly that I had to share it here this week. Take a look:
“LIES’ debut album, Lies, was born from writing sessions that were supposed to be the fourth American Football album. Since the project was born out of the pandemic, it started with Nate Kinsella sharing short synthesizer loops he’d created during the early days of the pandemic. The poppier edges didn’t fit with the American Football “sound,” and Mike recalls telling Nate, “I want to be in that band.”
The result is the Kinsellas at their most intricate yet accessible. “Blemishes” sets the mission statement for the project, as it starts with bubbly vocal samples before building into a rich conclusion that throws in everything but the studio kitchen sink. “Echoes” and “Corbeau” are a few of the many reasons why Lies should be revisited repeatedly, with new intricacies to absorb with each fresh listen. The latter was an excellent choice as the project’s first single last year - it wouldn’t be out of place on any of the Owen records, yet the lethargic loops and low-lying fuzz throughout demonstrate that any great artists such as the Kinsellas are constantly experimenting with their musical voice, even after almost thirty years of recording.
Lies reaches a midpoint peak with “Camera Chimera,” a brooding groover that recalls Depeche Mode through pulsing bass and delayed guitar washes before the stunningly sublime “Summer Somewhere” reaches new sonic territory for a Kinsella project. “No Shame” is one that I initially wrote off, as it does take a bit to get going, but in an album full of soaring orchestral summits, the last few minutes are beyond captivating. The final run of “Rouge Vermouth,” “Knife,” “Sympathetic Eyes,” and “Merely” will please anyone who appreciates Owen’s more subdued moments and is well worth the time to spend listening to on a good set of headphones.
The first quarter of the year has delivered a robust slate of records, but Lies by LIES may just top the list - a much-welcomed exception to break the cycle for all of the anticipated albums that have fizzled out once released. Earlier American Football and Owen albums may hold a special place in the heart. Still, Mike and Nate Kinsella deserve praise for continuing to grow and releasing something so distinctive from the rest of their catalogs.”

Blondshell by Blondshell
Another incredible self-titled debut that has lit me up in the last month is this amazing record from LA-based rockstar-in-the-making, Sabrina Teitelbaum. Hugely accomplished for her first outing, it’s a sharp 32-minute listen packed with big choruses and some truly epic guitar work. Here’s what 5-9 editor Andrew Belt had to say in his brilliant review:
“The nine tracks on her debut album capture uncomplicated rock tracks which could have been recorded live. Uncomplicated does not mean not compelling, however. Fusing influences from the likes of Nirvana, The Cranberries and Anna Burch, Teitelbaum wears her heart on her sleeve as she chronicles a difficult couple of years which spawned Blondshell.
The self-titled record bursts to life with ‘Veronica Mars’ – a two-minute, verse/chorus/guitar solo blast with the TV show referred to in the title causing Teitelbaum to reflect on its impact on her when watching at an early age. Singing ‘Logan’s a dick, I’m learning that’s hot’, Teitelbaum laments the mixed messaging the show could provide to young minds, with the rock track melting away at the end via a red-hot unhinged, high-pitched guitar solo.
The sound throughout is cohesive with Yves Tumor-producer, Yves Rothman, teasing out something quite impressive from Teitelbaum as Blondshell. Confessional, edgy, compelling, Blondshell is an accomplished offering belying its debut album status.”

VOID ETERNAL by nothing, nowhere.
Watching the evolution of Joe Mulherin’s nothing, nowhere project over the last eight years has been fascinating to witness. Gaining prominence and a legion of cult followers in his early days for his unique blend of hip-hop, R&B, pop punk and emo, his 2021 album Trauma Factory saw Mulherin deliver arguably his most accessible collection of tracks to date, whilst simultaneously providing the perfect soundtrack to that bleak, mostly locked down year.
In amongst his traditional blend of sounds there was death, one of the album’s singles that suggested Mulherin may be edging towards a heavier, more anthemic direction. Now on his latest effort VOID ETERNAL, this step into heavy music has come to full fruition with Mulherin delivering his most in-your-face record yet.
Frequently channelling Linkin Park, the more ambient elements of his sound take a back seat this time around, replaced instead with loud, thrashing riffs and vocals that are noticeably harsher and more aggressive. The result is a bigger and bolder sound, with Joe even pulling in genre heavyweights such as Silverstein, Underoath, Static Dress and Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz for some impactful guest features.
Like all his previous work, there’s never a dull moment with anthems like VEN0M, CYAN1DE and M1SERY_SYNDROME sitting nicely amongst the powerful metal moments like ANX13TY, PSYCHO_PSYCHIATRY and F0RTUNE_TELLER. For longtime fans there is still the Joe of old here too, with closing track MEMORY_FRACTURE bringing some of his more familiar sonic textures to the table.
Overall, this is a seismic, face-melting leap into heavier and even angstier territory for Mulherin, with VOID ETERNAL marking arguably his most ambitious work to date. Whilst the noisier cuts and screamo vocals scattered across here won’t be to everyone’s taste, I personally welcome this dramatic direction change, as it feels like the natural next step for Joe’s chameleonic sound. So, if you are looking for something loud beyond the new Metallica record that has just dropped, I recommend giving this one a spin.

The Estate Sale by Tyler, The Creator
We may be a few years on from its release, but it seems American rapper Tyler, The Creator is not ready to leave his Call Me When You Get Lost era just yet. Released off the back of his coming-of-age masterpiece Flower Boy and the sonic experimentation of 2019’s Igor, Call Me If You Get Lost was the sound of Tyler in razor-sharp lyrical form whilst also mostly handling production duties himself. It resulted in another widely praised release from Tyler, and yet it seems we only got half the story first time around.
With The Estate Sale, Tyler gifts fans eight more songs recorded during the Call Me… sessions, including brilliant recent single Dogtooth. Safe to say if you were a fan of that record then you’ll likely enjoy what’s presented on The Estate Sale, which more than delivers as a bonus EP, even featuring a couple of blockbuster collabs with the likes of Vince Staples and A$AP Rocky too. Also if you missed Call Me… first time around, The Estate Sale offers a good reason to dive in and explore.

Songs From The Roundhouse by Deaf Havana
And on the live albums front this week, brothers Matty and James Veck-Gilodi returned back from the brink of extinction last year, delivering their excellent sixth studio album and their first as a duo - The Present Is A Foreign Land. Given the brothers’ recent history and the path it took to get made, it felt like a triumphant return for one of Britain’s most underrated bands. An album that was as heartbreakingly personal as it was anthemic, it granted Deaf Havana a new lease of life.
This was further cemented on their recent UK tour, which felt like a huge victory lap for Deaf Havana following their resurgence. Culminating in a huge show at London’s Roundhouse, this performance has now thankfully been captured on this thrilling new live recording. An hour plus set including all their greatest moments, it’s a must-hear for fans and a good introduction for those not already familiar with Deaf Havana’s output.

Tracks of the Week
Your Mind Is Not Your Friend by The National featuring Phoebe Bridgers
I admitted in my last roundup that up until recently I’d not been completely sold on The National’s singles leading into their upcoming new album, First Two Pages of Frankenstein. Although recent single Eucalyptus was a positive step in raising my hype-o-meter, this latest track now feels like a small step backwards. The collaborations billed for this record had me intrigued, with songs alongside Taylor Swift and Sufjan Stevens still yet to be revealed, but sadly Phoebe Bridgers featuring as nothing more than a backing vocalist on this song has left me slightly underwhelmed.
The song itself is decent enough, but again doesn’t get me excited to the same level as I’ve become accustomed to when it comes to new music from The National. Maybe they have just set the standard too high with their previous efforts! Thankfully though the video is worth your time, a zany look at an imaginary friendship featuring Matt Berninger’s brother Tom and a cameo from Phoebe herself.

To be honest by Christine and the Queens
Late last year, French alt-pop sensation Christine and the Queens released his live recorded third album, Redcar les adorables étoiles (prologue), the title for which suggested another album was on the horizon and that this one would be the main event. Sure enough, Paranoïa, Angels, True Love has been announced for a June release and will be a 20-song epic split across three distinct parts. Not only that, but the tracklist has revealed collaborations with the likes of 070 Shake, Mike Dean and Madonna are all included.
Alongside the announcement, the first taste of the new album, To be honest, has also been unveiled. Centred on Chris’ vocals, it’s a gorgeously atmospheric and synth-soaked ballad that suggests another album full of beauty and splendour is on the way.

Weak In Your Light by Nation of Language
Another artist prepping their new album, American indie-pop outfit Nation of Language have this week announced their third studio album, Strange Disciple, is due this September. Following excellent recent single Sole Obsession, the band have now revealed the record’s opening track which is already for me one of their best to date. Bouncing along on a playful synth beat, Ian Richard Devaney’s impassioned vocals are the star of the show on this one.

Chemical by Post Malone
Post Malone has never been an artist restricted to a particular genre, with the singer-songwriter mixing elements of rap, R&B and grunge to create his unique sound. Whilst pop has also been part of his sonic make-up before, new single Chemical is arguably his biggest foray into the genre yet with its noticeably upbeat melody and catchy chorus. An interesting direction change for the megastar.
Listen here
Welcome To My House by Yonaka
Now seemingly a trio after the mysterious departure of drummer Robert Mason, Brighton-based rockers Yonaka have recently released thunderous new single, Welcome To My House. Fuelled by pulsating electronics, glossy production and a hugely anthemic chorus, it’s one of their biggest tracks yet. Arenas at the ready? I think so.
Listen here
When I’m With You by Nimmo featuring St. Panther
I have been listening to electronic duo Nimmo since 2015 and in that time, I have yet to hear them release a bad song. How they are not the biggest dance act in the country I will never know, as latest single When I’m With You is another sure-fire banger to add to their arsenal of many. If you’re looking for a song to get you amped-up for the summer, this is the one.
Listen here
Orange County / Beach Justice by Swim Deep
Speaking of summer, my final recommendation this week is for the ultimate summer album. 10 years ago, Brummie indie darlings Swim Deep released their magnificent debut, Where The Heaven Are We, an album I still reach for whenever I see even the slightest glimpse of sunshine. With the anniversary imminent, there has never been a better time to spin this record if you haven’t up till now.
Also as part of these celebrations for the album officially being a decade old, the band have recently remastered two of the album’s early B-Sides which, despite their age, sound as fresh as ever.

REMINDER: If you use Apple Music, you can also keep up-to-date with all my favourite 2023 tracks through my Best of 2023 playlist. Constantly updated throughout the year with songs I enjoy, it is then finalised into a Top 100 Songs of the Year in December.Add the playlist to your library here

August 2, 2020
Cutter was waiting on the swing on her front porch for the Mcgroarty to show up.
The restrictions for Covid loosened and Rutger’s family was coming out to Cutter’s family lake house in Arizona to spend some well needed time together.
Cutter rolled her eyes annoyed at Kennedy and Keegan arguing again, she had been stuck with the two fighting constantly the entire quarantine.
Cutter turned her head seeing her littlest sibling and her favorite sibling, Kingston. Kingston was rolling her eyes looking just as annoyed listening to their siblings arguing, “Do they know how to be quiet.” Kingston sassily mumbled.
Cutter pressed her lips together smiling proudly at her seven year old sister, “And this Kingsy is why you’re my favorite.” Cutter muttered to her baby sister as she pressed a soft kiss to her head.
Kingston proudly smiled, from the second she was born it was so obvious that Cutter was her favorite.
Cutter got up seeing the car pull into the driveway and she headed to the stairs rolling her eyes as Kennedy pushed past her to get to Molly first.
Rutger grinned widely as he got out of the car seeing his best friend, Cutter titled her head to the side opening her arms slightly and actually smiling for once.
Rutger immediately bounded right over to her tackling her into a tight hug almost knocking them both over with how hard he tackled her.
Cutter let out a fond breath gripping onto Rutger just as tightly back.
“I’ve missed you so much.” Rutger mumbled holding on to Cutter so tightly in fear she would be away from him again.
“I missed you too.” Cutter quietly admitted, she had missed Rutger and also was anxiously waiting to tell him she feels the same.
Rutger very reluctantly let go of his best friend from their hug to let her greet the rest of his family.
“Cutter!” Cindy beamed pulling her future daughter in law into a tight hug, rocking her side to side, “You have grown even more beautiful my dear.” Cindy softly cooed holding Cutter’s face delicately in her hands.
“Thank you.” Cutter flushed slighty just as she does every time Cindy compliments her, it means a lot coming from Cindy but as she also knows Cindy is being completely honest.
“Cut!!” Molly grinned walking past her mother and pulling Cutter into a very tight hug, Cutter has and will always be Molly’s favorite out of Rutger’s friends.
“Hi Mols.” Cutter softly greeted her back, Cutter does not enjoy a lot of the more “Girly” things but the few times she does it is because she is doing them with Molly and she’s gonna to see Molly as an older sister.
Jim waited until his girls were done saying hi to Cutter before he pulled her into a gentle hug.
“Alright give me my Cutter back.” Rutger grumbled wanting to be with his beta friend after being apart for so long, he didn’t notice he called her his but Cutter did and she flushed slightly.
Rutger wrapped his arm around her shoulder making her lean against him.
Molly chuckled at her brother and just shook her head fondly.
Kim and Cindy shared a knowing glance that made Kim nod her head with smile making Cindy bean excitedly.
“Come on you dork.” Cutter rolled her eyes fondly at her best friend and pulled him into her house past their two families.
Rutger happily let her pull her through her house and to her bedroom.
Rutger immediately let go of her hand when he stepped inside her room and flopped onto her bed sighing happy cuddling into her fluffy blankets and getting the scent of Cutter.
Cutter just shook her head fondly but was smiling watching Rutger as she has missed his cuddling and napping on her bed, she never understood why Rutger likes laying on her bed so much.
“Come here.” Rutger softly whispered pleading with her as he held out his arms towards her.
Cutter blinked slightly not use to Rutger straight up asking for her to cuddle but took a deep breath and got into bed laying down next to Rutger laying her head on his chest and immediately feeling Rutger’s arms wrap around her and feeling him sigh happily.
“I’ve missed you so much.” Rutger mumbled against the top of her head closing his eyes peacefully, feeling so happy having Cutter in his arms and it gave him hope she might be getting ready to feel the same for him.
“I’ve missed you too.” Cutter admitted whispering against his chest, she never had cuddled like this Rutger and she was curtain herself for not doing it sooner, she has never felt more comfortable or content.
Rutger smiled happily hearing her words, “What was that? Is the Cutter Gauthier admitting she had missed me!” Rutger teased her poking her side making her squirm.
Cutter chuckled grabbing Rutger’s hand to stop him from poking her anymore, “I did miss you.” Cutter admitted again hiding her face in Rutger’s chest.
Rutger smiled softly squeezing her tighter pressing a very soft kiss to the top of her head.
Cutter and Rutger cuddled together for a good while and both of them dozing off for a while in each other’s arms.
Cutter was fiddling with the bracelets stacked on Rutger’s wrist having woke up before Rutger and didn’t want to get out of his embrace.
Rutger woke up and felt his heart squeeze happily realizing he had been napping with Cutter in his arms but she was also still there when he woke up and just fiddling with his brackets.
Rutger looked at Cutter’s face and could tell it was thoughtful and knew she was thinking hard over something.
“What are you thinking about in that brain of yours?” Rutger softly teased poking her forehead softly.
Cutter bit her lip looking at Rutger slightly fearfully but took a deep breath remembering her mother’s words.
She took a deep breath and sat up looking at Rutger, “Do you still feel the same towards me?” Cutter was nervous that Rutger might no longer feel the same towards her and she could not blame him because she had made him wait for so long.
Rutger’s eyes widen in shock and he slowly looked hopeful, he sat up grabbing Cutter’s hands, “I will always feel the same toward you. I told you i would wait forever for you.” Rutger softly reassured her, to Rutger she was worth waiting for her.
Rutger felt hopefully as Cutter started this conversation and hoped maybe she was going to admit she felt something for him.
Cutter let out a small sigh of relief hearing Rutger’s reassuring words.
Cutter took a deep breath gripping onto Rutger’s hands tighter, “It scares me. How much i feel for your Rutger James. I always have and i’ve tried to push it away for a long while now but i don’t want to hide what i feel for you no longer.” Cutter slowly cupped his face with one of her hands making Rutger happily lean into her touch as he listened to her speak.
“And what do you feel for me?” Rutger softly whispered smiling softly at her, he was beaming as he realized Cutter was admitting she felt something for him.
“I love you.” Cutter admitted to Rutger whispering just as softly back. Cutter had to take the step and admit her feelings and she no longer wanted to held back by her fear, she loves Rutger and she wants him to know that.
Rutger let out a small breathy chuckle feeling his heart squeezing tightly as he heard her say the words he has been dreaming of her saying for a long time.
“You do?” Rutger whispered in disbelief looking at her with hopeful eyes bringing his hand up to cover her hand that was still holding his face gently.
“I do.” Cutter softly smiling as she reassured him and she was happy seeing how happy her words have made Rutger.
“I love you I love you I love you I love you.” Rutger repeated over and over as he pressed multiple kisses around her face making her laugh and wrap her arms around his shoulder pulling him closer to her.
Rutger put his hands on her waist pulling her closer making her sit on his lap as he sat on her bed still.
Cutter leaned her forehead against his forehead letting out a happy sigh, she has been scared for so long of admitting her feelings but seeing how happy it made Rutger made her wish she told him sooner.
“I love you.” Rutger whispered softly rubbing his nose softly against her nose. Rutger couldn’t believe she really did feel the same for him and that she finally admitted her feelings.
“I love you too.” Cutter whispered back just as softly and she leaned closer making the two lips finally touch again.
Rutger and Cutter both let out identical sighs as they finally kissed again, something they both have been waiting for since they kissed for the first time.
“This does mean i can be your boyfriend now right?” Rutger cheekily questioned the second they stopped kissing.
Cutter let out a fond laugh rolling her eyes fondly at her boyfriend, “Yes Rut you’re my boyfriend.” Cutter reassured him before pressing her lips back to his.
“Awesome.” Rutger mumbled all distracted as he desperately pressed his lips against his girlfriend’s and holding her tightly to him.

John Philip Shenale collaborated with many famous musicians, including Buddy Guy and, of course, Tori Amos. Moreover, he also worked with Bonnie Tyler on one of her biggest hits. No, I am not talking about the colossal progressive rock one, though the piece I'm discussing also has Jim Steinman among the songwriters and his mark can be heard. Mind you, I cannot really describe his trademarks, since his tunes have a paradox for me, i.e. they somehow sound the same to each other, while they also couldn't be more dissimilar from one another. I mean, the hit on the link does resemble a cannon shot that doesn't stop, you somehow have a hunch the propulsion of the composition shall quiet at one point, yet the latter doesn't occur.

“are yall ready yet?” rutger yells from the foyer.
“yes one second.” you yell back, deciding against the extra setting spray. it wasn’t hot outside, it’s not like you were going to sweat it off.
“we gotta go, i want a good view.” luca says grabbing his keys out of the bowl and heading outside. you opted to ride with luca since the group had to split but you always found yourself gravitating to him. the two of you had never spent time alone together but you always had a slight attachment to him, better described as a little bitty crush.
“have you looked at the set list yet?” he asked you, who got lucky and sat shotgun. the group was going to see post malone, and everyone was excited to go and get sloshed.
“i haven’t, i’ll check now.” you simply state opening spotify and reading it out to him.
“fuck this is gonna be so good.” he says, excitement lining his tone.
“does this venue id?” tyler asks from the backseat.
“no.” you answer quickly.
“may i ask how you know this?” luca giggles.
“i’ve been before, got absolutely hammered.” you say, reminiscing the last concert you attended.
“sweet, tj you’re off the hook,” he says patting the ginger on the back.
“thank god. they would’ve thought i was a fucking alcoholic buying all of those drinks.” he says, relief practically oozing out of him. you pulled into the venue closely behind your friends in the other car.
“everyone got their shit?” rutger asks and everyone replies ‘yes’ before shutting his trunk and locking the car. you made your way inside the venue, quickly finding a place to sit with a decent view of the stage. you loved that this tour was all outdoor shows considering the temperature in michigan in the summer was perfect. you laid your towel out and sat down, luca sitting his towel right next to yours.
“you’re gonna be my designated concert buddy?” you ask laughing at the position he sat in.
“sure am, we never really spend any time together so i figured this was a perfect opportunity.” he smiles and you giggle in response, keeping your cheeks from turning too red.
“drinks for the lot of ya!” jacob yells in a tacky british accent, approaching the group with tj, multiple beers and seltzers for everyone in hand.
“a seltzer for you of course.” luca says, handing you one of the drinks he grabbed.
“you just know my drinking habits so well don’t you.”
“we’ve been to parties together and how many times have i held your hair while you threw up?”
“it was twice luca.”
“and? i still did it.” he says and you roll your eyes, a smile spreading in your cheeks. it didn’t take too long for the openers to begin their set. you had never heard of them so you talked through it. you spoke with a couple of the guys and their girlfriends, luca talking to adam on the phone, sipping his beer. you couldn’t help but notice that he chose to sit with you, but you didn’t want to overanalyze. you drank and drank some more, without even realizing it. you were already somewhat drunk by the time the openers were finished, which wasn’t your intention.
“hey y/n.” luca asks nudging you.
“huh?”
“are you already drunk?”
“yep sure am, you?”
“a little buzz, nothing too crazy yet.”
“i am fully prepared to be absolutely fucked tonight.“ you reply, his expression becoming more difficult to read.
-
when post malone’s set finally began, you cracked a tall boy open, shot gunning it as well as you could. when you sucked the can dry you threw it on the ground out of breath, almost instantly feeling more drunk than before.
“luca.” you said, your words dragging out in a slur.
“what is it?” he asks, shoving his phone back in his pocket, his eyes reading drunk. you step closer to the boy, wrapping your arm around his back, singing whatever song was playing. you felt him do the same, his hand resting just above your ass on your hip.
the two of you sang together loudly and obnoxiously.
“can i try that?” you ask about the beer he held.
“yeah here.” he says, watching you intensely as you took a large sip.
“that is disgusting.” you reply, wiping your face with your hand as he chuckles. you leaned your head on his shoulder as you listened to the loud music. once the song ended you looked at yourself in the snapchat camera, makeup still in place just as you hoped. you couldn’t tell if the alcohol was clouding your judgment but you were feeling things. all the touching and flirting that had gone on over the last hour had your mind spinning.
“fuck i need a bathroom. luca come with me, i don’t wanna get kidnapped.” you say with a glimmer in your eye. a smirk grows on the boys face.
“okay, hey guys i’m taking her to the bathroom.” he yells at the group before you drag him off by his wrist.
“what’s got you in a hurry, we’ll still be able to hear it.” he giggles, jogging after you. you find a single stall, family restroom unoccupied. you open the door and pull the brunette inside with you.
“ive been wanting to get you alone all night.” you admit.
“i can’t say i haven’t felt the same way.” he replies, slurring his words. you two were both plastered but you know what they say about drunk words. in an instant, the boy pushes you by your biceps against the cold cinderblock wall, attaching your lips hastily and sloppily. your hands find their way into his hair, gripping at the strands as he swipes his tongue over your lip begging for entry. you swear hours pass by before he backs away.
“you look so fucking sexy tonight y/n.” he smirks as you two find your way to the sink.
“fuck you make me so horny.” you mutter, squeezing your thighs together as he picks you up and places you on the counter. your short skirt gave him easy access to your throbbing core, running fingers over your soaked panties and sucking them clean.
“god you taste so good.” he smirks, reconnecting your lips again, giving you a taste for yourself. he pulls away with hazy eyes, squatting down quickly and pulling your panties to the side.
“oh my fucking god.” you yell at the contact. his tongue twisted your already swollen bud in circles, sucking and rubbing it in a rhythmic fashion.
“fuck.” you say, gripping onto the boys hair as you finished, quicker than you could’ve imagined. he stands back up, his face soaked in your cum.
“you’re fucking incredible.” he says and you grab him by his shirt, which you unbuttoned hastily after you aggressively reattached your lips. he helped you finish the job as he pulled away, unbuttoning his denim shorts and pulling his throbbing cock out as quickly as he could. you stared at his tip as it leaked with precum and the pure size of him. he rubbed himself harder with a few strokes before looking back up at you.
“fuck me luca. please.” you beg and he instantly caves, pushing himself into you, his hands pressed against the mirror as he pushed into you for the first time. you moaned at the sensation. his tip hit the sweet spot buried deep inside you without even trying.
“god.” you moan out and he grunts. he thrusts into you deep and hard as he pounds into you at a decent speed. your moans snapping a high pitch after the first few thrusts. the music was quickly drowned out by the sounds of your yelps in a bathroom with poor acoustics.
“such a good girl taking me like this.” he smirks at you.
“you feel so good, god lu.” you say, your fingers gripping the hair on the back of his head.
“do you think anyone can hear me?” you ask.
“i fucking hope so.” he smirks, sloppily landing his lips back on yours as he stretches you out with every thrust.
“get down and bend over for me pretty girl.” he simply requests and you do so, resting your stomach on the edge of the counter. he pushes your skirt up further.
“look at that ass, god damn.” he says spanking you once before placing a gentle hand on your, now bright red, ass cheek pushing himself back into you. he grabs onto your hips pulling you onto him as he thrusts. your eyes roll into the back of your head with overstimulation, your sweaty hand slapping onto the mirror for better stability. he pounds into you at an unforgiving speed, wanting to get a good climax out of it. he wraps his hand around your hair, pulling you up flush against his chest as he continues his quick thrusts into you, turning you from moaning to practically yelling. gently he wrapped a hand around your throat as you looked in the mirror at the two of you. your mascara now smeared around your eyes, his cheeks red and forehead dotted with beads of sweat from the steamed bathroom.
“look at you, taking me so fucking good huh?” he asks, making eye contact with you in the mirror. he bucks into you sharply, a yelp leaving your mouth in an instant. carefully, he picks you back up, placing you on the counter. you could tell by the speed that he was getting closer, but the fact of the matter was that you were even closer. he pushes back into you easily sliding back in, a sensation you could never get used to. the way he hit your sweet spot was almost more intoxicating than all the alcohol you drank that lead you to this moment.
“fuck luca, i’m gonna come.” you moan, your nails digging harshly into his back, your speech broken up by his spastic and deep thrusts. moments later, you feel your body relax as a knot came undone in your abdomen. he fucked you right through your high into his own climax. spilling his seed deep inside you. he pressed his forehead to your chest as the two of you sat, gasping for air for a few moments. he runs his fingers through the salty mix of your climaxes between your legs attempting to somewhat clean you up, his drunk mind not thinking about the toilet paper that sat on the back of the toilet 2 feet away from you. you grab his hand and suck his fingers clean, surprising him and showing him that you swallowed every drop of the nasty mixture.
“fucking god y/n you’re gorgeous, let me help you down.” he says, tucking himself back in his pants, lending his hands for you to hop off the counter. you pull your panties back over your sensitive core, and tug your skirt down.
“lu, can you help me fix my makeup.” you whine, referring to the black streaks that formed around your eyes.
“yes baby, hold still.” he says, your heart fluttering at the pet name. he licks he thumb, gently wiping away the mess from around your eyes.
“how does that look?” he asks as you turn around.
“good enough.” you giggle turning back around.
“luca your hair. i’m sorry.” you giggle as he smiles, wrapping his strong arms around you.
“i don’t care about my hair.” he says as you press your cheek to the warm skin of his chest.
“we should go back.” you say patting him on the chest.
“yeah they’re probably getting suspicious by now.” he giggles, taking your hand and unlocking the door, seeing a long line outside the bathroom. the two of you chuckle as you jog past the impatient people in line, back to your spot on the lawn.
“you missed like 6 songs, where the fuck were you gu- oh.” rutger started before getting a good look at you two.
“what?” you ask.
“oh nothing.” he giggles, whispering to his girlfriend who he stood next to.
“girl where did you go?” franks girlfriend asks, tugging you away from luca’s side.
“i had to uh-“ you start and then turn around to see luca dapping up his teammates, clearly spilling what had gone on in the bathroom, “we fucked.”
“in the bathroom?” jacob’s girlfriend says interrupting.
“yeah we did.” you smirk.
“well was it at least good?” frank’s girlfriend asks.
“oh my god yes. his dick is so big, i don’t think i would wanna fuck anyone else like ever again.” you giggle with them, your drunkness seeping back into your vocabulary.
“you guys would be cute, i see the vision.” she says stepping back and looking at both of you.
“i think we would be too, not to be vain or anything.” you joke.
“go for it babe, luca doesn’t fuck just to fuck. or at least that’s what jacob’s told me. he fucks to date.” she says nudging you on the arm.
“honestly i probably will go for it, let’s see how this goes, hey lu?” you call out, catching his attention instantly. he walks over, hugging you to his side.
“what’s up?” he asks, his thumb grazing over the fabric of your skirt.
“maybe you guys are right.” you laugh and he appears confused. the two of you enjoy the rest of the concert, hugging onto each other and singing your hearts out for the final few songs.
-
“everyone’s asleep.” luca giggles as you pulled back into the driveway.
“awe look at them so cute.” you reply.
“are you gonna regret what we did tonight?” he asks, his voice in a whisper.
“not in the slightest.” you say placing a hand on his cheek and connecting your lips softly for a moment.
“you have no idea how badly i wanted to hear you say that.” he smiles as you pull away slightly.
“i can’t let anyone else have that dick or that hair. or just that boy in general.” you say locking eyes with him. instead of replying he reconnects your lips once again, the kiss lingering for a what seems like an eternity. an eternity that you hoped would never come to an end.
“we should wake them up.” you whisper on his lips.
“yeah probably.” he smiles, pecking your lips one last time before waking everyone up to come inside.

> SUN IN THA HOUSE < and whY yoU Be like dat
Sun is our focal point, its our brightest star > you force others to look at you and look at themselves by your star quality <
Tumblr media
Sun in the First - Everyone knows them, and they make it a fact that if you don't see them then your the one who is blind. They have a confident swagger, but arrogance to them that begs for the attention of all around them, and everyone is locked in on how or why they have such a powerful presence. Their smiles are contagious too. Also somehow always in the perfect place to say some funny ass shit and keep their style points that they been racking up over the years "You know. You all know exactly who I am. Say my name" - W.W 'breaking bad'
Sun in the Second - Did I stutter? Im talking about what I need not what I want. These guys are possessed by themselves and everyone loves it. So focused so self contained, they don't want nothing to do with you if you can't help them achieve their goals, and that attitude is sticky and everyone wanna be glued to em because they are destined for success. So they are constantly deciding who they want to share their gifts with, because they know they got it, what you got? "Money, money, money, money, money ain't the motive, What's your name again? Nobody knows it, Don't speak to me n***a, you not important, Im focused" - Tyler, the creator 'smuckers'
Sun in the Third - The whizz kid who didn't study, but stole the test papers and told everyone the wrong answers and kept all the right ones to himself. They are smart and they dont need you to tell them this they just want some more god damn answers. And thats what frustrates everyone, because they know so much already, why they still searching? Well thats how they got so smart dummy "That's why they put my lyrics up under this microscope Searching with a fine tooth comb, it's like this rope Waiting to choke, tightening around my throat Watching me while I write this, like, "I don't like this note" - Eminem 'white america'
Sun in the Fourth - The sentimental cry baby that everyone loves to cuddle. Emotional but people find it adorable. They are the rock you can cry on if you want a rock to cry on. Nah but if you need a safe place to cry, you can cry to them, they'll protect you from the harsh waves of others emotional projections, because they get it, even when everyone else refuses to. But don't use em because that'll force them to block you out, and this decision will cause a emotional rollercoaster for the both of you and they'll blame you for it even if it was their decision "And I am done changing words, Just so my songs sound prettier, I just don't care if it hurts, 'Cause it hurts me too" - Faye Webster 'hurts me too'
Sun in the Fifth - The walking confetti explosion, always turnt up and if you trynna lower the volume then they'll oblige ya just so when the volume inevitably goes up again, they'll make it a point that its always more fun with the party up then down. Charming chameleons that are cheesin about the colours they managed to pull off. Watch em dance, watch em sing, watch em do a funny, they can do it all and laugh while doing it, the vibe is them and they are so good at inviting people in on the little big party they got going on "Man I just wanna go flex, Gold on my teeth and on my neck, And I'm stone cold with the flex, With my squad and I'm smokin' up a check" - Post Malone 'go flex'
Sun in the Sixth - Typeracer.com - nah but seriously they always working on themselves and comparing themselves just to make sure their progress is more than what they expected and way more than what others expected of them. Because they here for a reason, and they will never let a opportunity slip, because if they do, they'll stay awake over it for years, and they done wasting their good years. Basically Peggy Olsen "And when your album sales wasn't doing too good, Who's the Doctor they told you to go see? Y'all better listen up closely, All you n***s that said that I turned pop, Or The Firm flopped. Y'all are the reason that Dre ain't been getting no sleep" - Dr Dre 'forgot about dre'
Sun in the Seventh - I gotchu what you need? true homies always putting others before them, and i know this gets a bad rap these days but if you ever get one of these friends. Do yourself a favour and stop telling them to stand up for themselves, because they still standing with the weight of everyone else on they shoulders. This way they show others the power of communication. And they still sticking it to everyone who tell em otherwise, so please tell me how they not standing up for themselves? They the loyalist, you got no idea how many people rely on em and thats their pride "Every step I take, every move I make (ohh, I'll miss you), Every single day, every time I pray, I'll be missing you (yeah, yeah, yeah), Thinkin' of the day, when you went away, What a life to take, what a bond to break, I'll be missing you" - Diddy 'missing you'
Sun in the Eighth - Who went to hell and back? Well they went to a version of it. And they are done hearing whatever you done, because what they did beats your hell tenfold. They don't even wanna put you in your place because they don't wanna hear your attempts to disapprove of them because they've overcome more than some bullshit shit talking. Just put some respect on their name thats all they want. And if not it's easy pickens because think they worse than you, and if you done worse, they don't mind going badder, so be careful, they'll do it. They careful about not being careful so be careful "No I don't worry, I tell you, I'm a man who believes that I died twenty years ago, And I live like a man who is dead already, I have no fear whatsoever of anybody or anything" - Skepta 'no security'
Sun in the Ninth - I WOKE UP IN NEW BUGgATTI is how they live their lives, except miss the bugatti but keep the caps lock on. They live by a set of moral philosophies to help them get by and to find excitement/ enjoyment outta life, because they refuse to be a follower, they've seen how sad everyone else is and they just trynna make sure it don't work out that way for them. Educated idiots; making up the rules as they learn the rules to live by their own rules. They lead their own life and it rubs off on everyone on how you should live your own life > teetering the edge of danger and fortune. Also someone who'll give it to you the realest despite being the biggest clown "Black kid get shot, white man get tazed, Media spread lies, politicians get paid, Doctors wanna drug you up so you can reach an early grave, Prisons wanna lock you up so they can fill up every cage Make fifty cents an hour, they gon' work you like a slave, Government gon' play dumb but they know everythin' " - Meechy Darko 'kill us all'
Sun in the Tenth - "Who speaking about me? oh. he ain't shit" - they acting better than everyone, and its fake until it isnt. No one knows when they made it because they always acted like they did. They dont brag they let the audience speak their volumes, hum their symphonies, play their drums, tickle their balls, and they just the orchestrator of it all. Because they doin the most, and they know everyone gonna talk about it so no need to even speak on it. Classy about it too. They on the top and they don't wanna leave so they acting humble but everyone know they really feelin themselves, but hey who wouldn't "I might be too strung out on compliments, Overdosed on confidence, Started not to give a fuck and stopped fearing the consequence, Drinkin' every night because we drink to my accomplishments" - Drake 'headlights'
Sun in the Eleventh - Trend setters who leave their shit stains on every social setting they enter. They got this influence about them thats hard not to notice, because they have at least three people fawning over em, and they not doing shit. Always trying to spread their influence, so if you want someone to back you its them, because their word is worth more due to their connections. And the easiest way to connect is technology and they all up in the software and getting a hard drive about it. They say some outta pocket shit, but thats where the influenza comes from I guess. They somehow everywhere and no where at the same damn time "It's ironic you talk jail time, But you ain't never seen no central booking (yeah) It's ironic you hang with a n***a that beat women And have the nerve to call yourself "Girl Pusher" Wow! You ain't real, I'm gonna show you how I really feel - JPEGMAFIA 'baby im bleeding'
Sun in the Twelfth - Lonely introspective dreamy creative types. Is what you could say if you wanna sum them up. But there is much more to them, but they are so afraid of letting anyone in because they are so sensitive. Their empathy and ability to look at things from different perspectives is what sets them apart, and they want to be set apart, because they feel alone, and don't wanna pretend they your friend if they ain't. They are extremely creative to a fault, and a lot of people would rather make fun of their works then celebrate how special it is. Until it is widely acknowledged how gifted they are, then everyone will switch up around them. But they will never forget who said what, because they above the whats; aint got time for someone who thought they were just a what "'Cause I'm out there, Tried to tell you that I'm out here on my own, I told you I was out there, Tried to tell you that I'm out here on my own,I fell down to Earth, From a hundred miles away and somehow I still make it work, But it's overrated and somehow played out" - Oliver Tree 'alien boy'
