Isn’t Emily completely not remembering her goth phase a… trauma response? I know it’s not that serious haha it was just a lighthearted moment, but isn’t it weird?

I was watching this recently and thinking the options are really...

1) she dressed Like That pretty regularly for a decent amount of time and somehow doesn't remember it being that extreme, in which case yeah, I think that's got to be a trauma response. Not to the goth look, but to whatever else was going on.

2) she dressed a little tamer usually and amped it up for picture day, forgot, and never looked at her yearbook again because fuck high school.

I feel like she was such a social chameleon in high school that she would've dressed to fit in with whoever she thought she had a shot at fitting in with. Depending on exactly how much she moved around and how many social groups she tried to hang out with before finding one that fit, that could've been a lot of different personas in 3 years... Like I don't imagine Emily "all you want is to be accepted, you'll do almost anything" Prentiss rocked up on day one at her new school in that getup so maybe it was just a super short Full Goth phase that coincided with picture day??

it kinda makes me laugh how, appearance wise, they were meant to make him go from nerdy 'yes sir i will bring her home by 7 pm' to playboy 'your daughter calls me daddy too' but in both cases he just comes off as beautiful boy with sad expressive eyes who would pledge his undying loyalty and love to anyone who showed him kindness. ALSO I CANNOT STRESS ENOUGH JUST HOW MUCH I NEED TO SEE JIMMY IN GLASSES IN A BL LIKE IM SORRY TO BE THAT PERSON BUT I NEED THAT LOOK TO BE PUT TO GOOD USE (although if i squint a little the lighting in the second pic looks like it has the bisexual flag colors so BISEXUAL MEK IS CONFIRMED IN MY BOOK)
