I think I have headcanoned in the past that Hector collects and holds onto many of the books that he and the others find on their journey, forming his own little library in his tent by the end of the game.

I've not really thought about it beyond that, but considering it now, I kind of like the idea that he had some unusual thing that he collected at the monastery as well - perhaps ostensibly as part of his work at the monastery library, but also just because he is a nerd. :P

I'm going to say it was... maps. Every time visitors would come to the monastery, he would beg copies of their maps off them - ostensibly to increase the expanse of knowledge held in the library, but truly just because he found it fascinating to see all the different descriptions of lands so far off, and marvel that people traveled such distances when he himself had barely even left the building where he was raised.

(Little did he know... XD )

Hm this is a fun one. Let's see.

Halloween is one of those things that I think Hector wouldn't be instantly drawn to, but Karlach would be so excited about it that he'd go along kind of bemusedly and end up having a good time.

So I feel like he'd probably be doing some sort of couples costume that Karlach came up with.

I'll be honest, I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out what that couple's costume would ACTUALLY be, so I'm totally skiving on actually answering this question, but the first thing that popped into my head was for the two of them to go as each other.

Which is actually something I can render in BG3 by having them put on each other's starting armor. XD

that fic series the Swimmy Fish is so fricking good!!!! like???? i love it, writing makeout scenes are no joke, it's super hard to keep track of limbs and amounts of times you've used certain words and personally i have to take mental health breaks bc i get so flustered when writing them and yours are so good???? also the delicious but not overexaggerated angst of "what if this was all a mistake" / "what if he regrets it" is both so well done and so relatable!!!

Hello, hello. Here are a few ideas for the alternate love interest ask game. My apologies if this is too many.

Melody/Cerigg [if she's met him], Melody/M'naago, or Melody/Cirina.

Unfortunately Melody has not met Cerigg. (I don't particularly enjoy magical ranged dps so I didn't get the chance to meet him ;o;) As for M'naago, I feel like Melody would get along with her fairly well, and there would be the dynamic of the gentle healer, and confident soldier. Though unfortunately their separate duties would keep them apart too much for anything serious to develop.

And for Cirina, I think she and Melody are very alike in many aspects. They're both very level headed and worry about their peers greatly. They would certainly be the lesbian couple that brings fresh cookies and snacks to a gathering lmao

NO ONE HAS EVER ASKED BEFORE...its actually kinda exciting i can finally explain it :DD SO basically its a hand-me-down from my dad! Not to share his online name but it also ends in 1281. Where he got it from was from a course code for a university class he took a billion years ago. he got the only A in the class so it stuck with him lol. I kinda grew up with the number (it's been my password on all my phones + also my laptop pin) and my brother also uses it so its just a lil family thing :3

As an arcanist/summoner enthusiast I've always been fascinated by your carbuncle lore! Apologies if you've answered this before, but how did you arrive at the idea/process of creating carbuncles through arrays and programming?

ahahahahaha I am so sorry for the delay on answering this, object permanence of a three-month old right here.

so since it's been like...nearly seven years now, jfc, I cannot quite remember my early thought process. I believe at the time I had thought I had seen the term 'array' used within the game as another descriptor for arcane geometries, and which I cannot find despite scouring the ACN and SMN quests. but regardless, that word lived in my head, and along with the fact that arcanima used geometry, I extrapolated, "well. surely it's not just geometry, and geometry itself needs to use other mathematical formulae to express certain concepts, so--" and it just...spiraled from there! particularly since arcanima is presented as the most technical of the magic disciplines in Eorzea, turning further into a hodgepodge of higher math, physics, and computer programming, especially for magical constructs like carbuncles, seemed to fit best!

still don't know if it's for the best or not that I have zero background in math beyond college-level calculus...

Genuinely interesting character, I like that he was combative with the Guardian (and others) but slowly warmed up to us. People remember him for the funny moments but his story was one of the most heartbreaking and dealt with some pretty heavy topics we haven't quite seen with other characters in D2: regret, preemptive grief, and (in a very fantastical, sci-fantasy way) terminal illness. Would have loved to see him interact with some of our other grumpy old Warlocks, and wish we could have got more between him, Ikora and Eris. This whole season's hit me over the head with feelings about him all over again.
