Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day
Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day is celebrated on May 21. This is the perfect time for the availability of all our favorite fresh fruits and vegetables. We believe including fresh fruits and veggies in the diet is necessary for a healthy life. Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day is dedicated to a cause. The increase in obesity and lifestyle diseases among American people is a major concern nowadays. This is a day to remind us of the importance of fresh food, which helps us lead a healthy life.
History of Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day
Ever wondered who started the cultivation and farming of vegetables and fruits? We only have a vague idea about the start of cultivation. We know we used to forage for nuts and fruits as far back as 1,00,000 years ago. During that time, our ancestors observed that the seeds they threw away created new plants.
The understanding that we could manipulate plant growth was perhaps one of the greatest discoveries of the ancient world. Most scientists agree that proper cultivation started only around 30,000 years ago. Initially, farming was a concept associated with grains and cereals. However, the practice soon expanded to include fruits and vegetables as well. Fruits and vegetables are good sources of necessary vitamins and minerals.
There are records of Romans using greenhouses to cultivate vegetables and fruits. The vegetables and fruits available nowadays are different from their ancient counterparts. Selective breeding for nutrition and edible quantity changed the shape, color, and even the taste for the better. But today, the trend has changed as we all opt for fast food.
This decision contributes to the obesity crisis and the formation of deadly lifestyle diseases. The growing number of people affected by unhealthy eating caused the Dole Food Company to take action. They created this holiday to educate the world about healthy eating and spread awareness about conditions such as obesity.

Vegetable and fruit diets are cruelty-free
It can reduce our carbon footprint
This is not a secret, but a non-vegetarian diet can cause numerous health issues. Diabetes, heart attack, stroke, obesity, e.t.c. are all companions of meat consumption. Adding more vegetables and fruits can help reduce these health conditions before they manifest.
There is a long battle raging between vegetarians and non — vegetarians. A vegetarian diet is relatively less cruel as no killing or maiming is involved. A major argument is that plants are also alive, but plants are not sentient like animals and do not feel the same kind of pain. So it is a relatively cruelty–free diet.
Meat production negatively affects our environment. It is a demanding process and needs a lot of water and food. The byproducts can add to the greenhouse gas emission and thus to global warming. The same amount of investment in cultivation can yield better output and reduce carbon emission.

As part of its Christmas festive menu, KFC Singapore brought back the Parmesan Truffle Chicken for a limited time from 27 Nov 2024 to 1 Jan 2025. On the menu is a new Parmesan Truffle Burger and Salted Caramel Mochi Ring to celebrate the holiday season. A specially arranged Christmas jingle is also available to enhance your Parmesan Truffle Chicken experience. Created by consumer neuroscientist Professor Gemma Calvet from Nanyang Technological University, the jingle is designed to amplify the natural savoury flavours of the chicken. You can scan the QR code below for the jingle.

I didn’t go for the fried chicken as I had prior warning from a colleague who had eaten it. Instead, I went for the Parmesan Truffle Burger Box (S$12.80) consisting of a burger, a piece of fried chicken, regular cheesy whipped potato, regular fries and a drink. When I bit into the burger there was no truffle aroma nor parmesan cheese taste. All I got was the good old Zinger Burger! Lucky for me, my camera had “eaten” first so now I have got proof to go complain to KFC.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The very next day after work, I approached one of the staff at the counter and showed her the pictures. I told her I had bought the Parmesan Truffle Burger Box armed with the receipt but it came with Zinger Burger inside. She looked at the pictures and told me Zinger is correct. I got a little annoyed at her reply, I know it’s a Zinger Burger except mine had no truffle or parmesan cheese in it. Luckily, another staff member stepped forward and let her know I had been given the wrong order. She took a freshly made burger off the shelf and passed it to me. Case closed.
Tumblr media
The Parmesan Truffle Burger is basically a Zinger Burger drizzled with truffle-infused cheese sauce and sprinkled with grated parmesan. Although I enjoyed the juicy fried chicken patty and the earthy flavour of the truffle, the powdered parmesan is overwhelmingly salty! But eaten with the buns and shredded lettuce, kind of balanced out the brininess a little bit, however, it is still salty. Now you know why I didn’t go for the fried chicken version as according to my colleague, she had to peel away the chicken skin just to make it edible. And here I was wondering if KFC even do quality testing before they released these products.

Your OC just won a free pizza with toppings of their choice! What will toppings will they have? 🍕
(answer for as many OCs as you like)
Oooh! Let me think about this...
Nick and Luca like everything and will take a supreme. (typically that is all the meats, mushrooms, onions, bell peppers, and olives)
Kam will take a meat lovers. Add Anissa to that order too lol.
Nadia gives the pizza a heavy side eye and asks for a salad. When she is told of the rules, she sighs and says, "Fine. Give me a white pizza with bacon, arugula, apple slices, caramelized onions, walnuts, and goat cheese. Drizzle some honey on top while you're at it."
Jorden will have a margherita. (mozzarella, basil, tomato)
Tori, our other vegetarian wants a little more. Hers will have an olive oil and garlic base, roasted mushrooms, caramelized onions, mozzarella, white cheddar, chives, shaved parmesan, garlic aioli swirl and a spritz of black truffle oil.
I think Mel (my spice hound lol) would be a fan of this pizza at a local chain here called Maui Wowie. It has a pesto base, mozzarella, honey ham, pineapple, jerk chicken, banana peppers, and bacon.
Noemi is a baysic bae and would just want cheese lol.
Sophia is lactose intolerant and is crying in the club over this pizza party.
Alessia will take a slice or two from Luca's pie.
I could see Chi Chi as a margherita girl. (mozz, basil, tomato)
Yasmine...just pepperoni.

Real Food Day
Nourish your body with fresh, whole foods that fuel your energy and leave you feeling satisfied, without the guilt and sluggishness of processed junk.
Does anything look as good as a table heaped with real healthy food? From glistening greens to delectable dried fruits, there’s nothing better than getting your five a day while having a delicious meal as part of the deal. Potentially the best thing about real food is that you can do more than simply eat a plate of veggies to have a healthy meal. Healthy food ingredients can turn into some firm fakeaway favorites, from homemade pizzas to a twist on your staple weekly Chinese. If you’re looking to make some healthier food choices, Real Food Day is the perfect day for you. Enjoy a healthier lifestyle while still stuffing your face with mouth-watering real food dishes.
Learn about Real Food Day
Real Food Day is all about celebrating healthier food choices and promoting a healthy, active lifestyle. Run by the Public Health Collaboration (registered charity no. 1171887), it’s a day for showing some love to real food, from the classic leafy greens to some of the healthier natural food we have on the market, like lean meats and lower-fat dairy options. The Public Health Collaboration (PHC), led by Samuel Feltham, spotted that health problems like Type II Diabetes were on the rise, so they wanted to raise awareness and education about what real food means.
The PHC is trying to help people answer the question: what is real food? Some obvious choices, like a big bar of chocolate or your weekly fast-food splurge, would be ‘fake’ food, while vegetables and fruit are clearly ‘real’ foods. But this day is about trying to delve deeper into real food and encouraging people to eat as minimally processed foods as possible, like lentils, fish, and dairy.
Real foods are considered anything that is minimally altered from their original state, while fake foods are highly processed, high in added sugar, and highly processed oil. Fake foods are essentially high in all the things that are bad for you but low in things that will fill your hunger meter up.
The day is for everyone from kids through to adults, and that’s why events are run in schools and workplaces to improve everyone’s awareness of Real Food. There are also activity packs for families, workplaces, and schools, so you’ve got the perfect distraction for a rainy day for the whole family (or office).
Real Food Day is about more than just healthy eating, though, as it aims to raise awareness of how living an active lifestyle and exercising every day can help combat health-related diseases like Type II Diabetes. Check out the Real Food Day blog for some life-affirming stories about how people rediscovered their zest for life through revisiting their relationship with food.
History of Real Food Day
Real Food Day was launched in 2019 to combat the rise in fast food and health-related conditions. The Public Health Collaboration started the day to show that by making real food and positive lifestyle changes, some conditions can improve and, in some cases, be reversed entirely by living a healthier life. Samuel Feltham, director of the PHC, ran a Fitness Bootcamp for five years, which means he’s no stranger to healthy living. In 2016, he stopped his Bootcamp business to focus on the Public Health Collaboration. Since then, he’s founded a dream team of leading health professionals, from Cardiologists to Psychiatrists, to dive into and understand why people are living less healthy lives and what they can do to fix it.
But why do we love fake foods so much? From our weekly takeaways to our daily packet of crisps, it’s always hard to put down the packet and pick up a piece of fruit. You might treat fake food as a reward or compensation for a bad day – how many of us order a pizza and put our feet up on a Friday night after a manic week at work? Scientists also say that the quick-fix sugar-hit you get with your soda gives you a rush, which then is followed by a sugar crash that leaves you craving that feeling again and wanting more. You can also get sugar-fix with fruit, veggies, and dairy, but these are released more gradually, so you can enjoy the feeling without experiencing a rollercoaster of emotions.
The increase in conditions related to an unhealthy lifestyle is a relatively new phenomenon. From 1960 to 1970 conditions like obesity remained pretty stable, but have since increased by 35% for adults and almost 50% for children. Obesity can be related to health conditions like Type II Diabetes and high blood pressure. Both conditions can be improved and even reversed by making real food and lifestyle choices, so it’s no wonder that the PHC is so active in raising awareness.
How To Celebrate Real Food Day
Real Food Day is the perfect way to celebrate that wholesome good food with your family and friends. Splurge on a healthy food shop and throw a dinner party to showcase the deliciousness that is real food eating. Want to distract kids for a few hours? Why not get them involved in the cooking and use some of the Real Food Day website activity packs to throw a little food education into the process.
If you’re new to the world of real food, why not buy a ‘fakeaway’ recipe book, and replace that weekly takeaway with a cauliflower pizza-base or a real food alternative to your Indian takeaway. If you’re vegetarian, pescetarian, or vegan, there are hundreds of real food recipe books to meet your dietary needs. Not a cook? Well, we’ll forgive you, why not support your local real food restaurant and treat yourself to a real food night out.
You can celebrate Real Food Day with everyone you know, from your kids to your colleagues, by downloading an activity pack and getting involved in the food fun! Packed with recipes, games, and quizzes, you’ll have everything you need for a real food party.
Join in the Real Food Day party on social media by posting a photo with yourself, friends, family, or colleagues holding up an ‘I SUPPORT #REALFOODDAY, or WE SUPPORT #REALFOODDAY’ sign and the reason why you’re supporting the day. Have fun sharing your love of really good food and real healthy living!

Texture: You get like 5 different foods every bite. This is not balanced. There is no harmony. This sandwich is the embodiment of disorder and chaos. 1/5
Presentation: The fact that this even looks sandwich adjacent is a fucking miracle. You don’t get full points though. Because I don’t like you. 3/5
Would Chunk Eat It?: He would eat maybe 1/50th of it. So no. 1/5
Final Score: 2/5
Critic’s Notes: Why would you waste this much food. Just host a party. Donate it. Something fucking anything I am begging at this point.

oh right.
if food is too much trouble.
I just.
don't eat.
which is not great.
the solution is to have ingredients for, like, three easy recipes on hand that I know take almost no time, taste good, and contain nutrients.
my current favorites are
lemon zucchini chicken pasta (make a simple sauce by melting about two tbsp of butter with equal quantities flour and letting cook until a blondish hair kinda color, then whisk in your milk and bring nearly to a boil before letting it simmer till THICC. While it's doing that, boil your pasta and brown your zucchini and chicken (not at the same time! also ground chicken is cheap and easy to use here). Once those two are done, combine them in a pan and add some garlic -- powder is fine, I usually use freeze dried. Pour your sauce over the chicken and zucchini and add a small handful of parmesan cheese, about half a lemon's worth of juice, and all a lemon's worth of zest. Stir in the pasta once it's done. )
shwarma bowl (turmeric rice, some kind of meat cooked with shwarma spice blend, tomatoes, optional cucumber, and a drizzle of thinned sour cream with garlic powder and a wedge of lemon for both flavor and garnish)
mushroom pasta (chop up a container of mushrooms of your choice, two green onions separating greens from whites, and about a fist's mass of tomato(s). Cook meat if desired in a skillet with a little oil -- ground turkey is good, chicken is also good. Set meat aside and cook the mushrooms with a little more oil in the same pan used for the meat. Once they're brown, add onion whites and two tbsp of butter, two tbsp of flour. Cook til the butter is meltered and the flour is incorporated. Add milk to cover and maybe a tbsp of cream cheese. If you have it, add about a tbsp of mushroom stock concentrate or use mushroom stock to thin the sauce -- it'll need it -- and a small handful of parmesan cheese and garlic to taste. Cook til it looks like sauce, then add your tomato and pasta and stir to combine. Truffle powder is a good addition, so use it if you got it.)
chicken pot pie is also good but it takes longer. These all, I've timed it, take about half an hour. They contain vegetables in a way I'll actually consume them, and aside from the pasta amounts (you want about 6oz for two servings, 7oz tops or it will not fit in a small-to-medium skillet!), the butter-to-flour and the rice-to-water ratios (you want 2/3 as much rice as water) nothing is very measurement-picky.
so.
my weird brain will not let me stick to any kind of routine for long, which is why I have meal box delivery stuff, but hopefully reminding myself that these are options will ensure I like. actually eat food.
which is apparently something I am kind of bad at doing, especially since I have kind of a weird schedule as part of my new job.

Made with Love
Because it's Meta Knight's birthday, I'm doing another Metaccine drabble.
-
Today was Meta Knight's birthday and his wife and children were excited. Their father had gone out of the house to meet for a birthday lunch with the crewmates of the Halberd for the occasion, something that would likely take a few hours. Of course, this gave them plenty of time to prepare their own celebration, and that was their reason for being in the kitchen right now.
"Alright, everyone, here's what we're gonna do. We're gonna split in to two groups: Kirby will be with me and Sieg and Freya will work together. Kirby and I will work on dinner and you two will work on dessert, do you understand?"
Fettuccine got three nods in response.
"Good! Let's get to work!"
The twins went off to do their own work as Kirby walked over to Fettuccine, already inhaling a frying pan to gain the Cook Ability.
"So, mom what are we gonna make?" The pink puff asked, clearly excited for whatever was planned, making Fettuccine giggle.
"Well, I decided we should make one of his favorites, of course! Chicken parmesan!"
The child's eyes lit up. "Oh! Thats a great idea! Oh, but wouldn't just chicken and spaghetti be a bit too little? We should add other things like maybe a big bowl of salad! Oh, oh, oh, and truffle fries! Or a fruit salad for color! A whole loaf of garlic bread! No, wait, maybe mix some seafood in the noodles-"
"Alright, Kirbo, calm down! While the garlic bread does sound like a good idea, I think it'd be a bit too much to add all those other things. You want him to have room for dessert, right?"
"He'll have plenty of room for it!"
"You know what I mean. It won't be fair to Sieg and Freya if we make a whole bunch of things for him."
Kirby paused, as if to think. "Oh, that's right! Well, we can get it done in a jiffy!"
"Yes, but remember, just the chicken parmesan, the noodles and sauce, and the garlic bread. Nothing else." Fettuccine replied, making herself clear.
"Ok, mom!"
* * *
On the other side of the kitchen, Sieg and Freya were in a bit of a standoff, handwritten lists clutched tightly in their nubs.
"I think we should make a chocolate cake!" Sieg said.
"We should make a chocolate ice cream sundae!" His sister replied.
"Dad has sundaes every day!"
"He also has chocolate cake every day!"
"No, he has chocolate... um... fandant!"
"That's the same thing!"
"No, it's not!"
"Siegy, Fre-fre, I would appreciate it if you didn't argue with each other." Fettuccine said, looking over at them, causing them to immediately stop.
Sieg rubbed his head, as if trying to think of what to do as Freya shifted her weight to think about her own answer.
Suddenly, the daughter spoke. "Um... I know dad likes both sweets and chocolate..."
"Uh-huh..."
"So, um... maybe we can both make something for him?"
"We are gonna make something. though!"
"No, no! I meant we should make our own things for him! He loves both so why should we choose?"
Sieg looked up as if thinking and then turned to Fettuccine.
"Mom, is it fine if we both make one dessert for dad?"
"Go ahead! I don't see why not!"
"Wait, how comes they get to make multiple things!?" Kirby asked with a pout.
"Because we're already doing chicken parmesan and garlic bread, and those are two things. Plus, we're technically doing three things if you count the spaghetti with the chicken parmesan meal."
Kirby seemed to pout even more, as if he couldn't deny that statement, making both Fettuccine and the twins laugh.
* * *
A few hours later, Meta Knight walked into the house, looking a bit tired as he fell onto the sofa. As he let out a long sigh, he felt someone plop next to him and pick him up in a hug.
"Welcome home, Metty!" Fettuccine exclaimed.
Almost instantly, it felt like that was enough to give him his energy back, and he gave a kiss to his wife.
"I'm glad to be home, my bunny." He smiled.
"I know you are, honey. I hope you had a wonderful little birthday party with the others~."
Meta seemed to sigh, drawing a bit of concern from his wife. "Well... it was mostly fine until Dedede and some of his Waddle Dees decided to crash it while complaining about how he wasn't invited and how we could've used his castle for a giant party but we didn't."
Fettuccine seemed to pout. "Well maybe I should go talk to him..."
"It'll be fine. I said we're going to have Sieg and Freya's birthday at his castle this year. Besides, he also wanted to give me a gift..."
"Well, what is it?" Fettuccine asked.
With a blank expression on his face, Meta pulled out a hammer with a ribbon tied around it.
"
he gave you a hammer?"
"He did."
"
why?"
"It's how he expresses his friendship. It's the thought that counts, I suppose."
Fettuccine nodded in response. "Well, that makes sense. Are you ready to have your birthday dinner? We spent the whole day making it!"
"Yes, I'm quite looking forward to it."
What Fettuccine didn't say was that Sieg and Freya were still putting the finishing touches on their desserts and that was why they didn't come to greet them. However, her husband seemed to understand that, and that was why he happily sat at the table.
"First is dinner, made by me and Kirby!"
Upon saying that, the pink puff walked out of the kitchen holding a plate full of chicken parmesan with a heaping side of pasta and a piece of garlic bread.
"Happy birthday, dad! I wanted to give you more than just this, but mom said it would be too much food, so I had to cut down on it."
Meta chuckled in response to that. "I appreciate the thought, but I do understand why she'd say that. Anyway, thank you for the food, I'm sure it will be delicious."
* * *
After finishing his dinner, he turned to Fettuccine and Kirby.
"Well, what did you think?"
"It was delicious, of course. I had no doubts about your cooking."
Both of them smiled, with Kirby tackling his father with a hug.
"I'm so glad you loved it! Happy birthday!"
"Yes, thank you, Kirby."
"But that's not the only thing, Metty. You also have dessert to eat."
Fettuccine walked into the kitchen for a moment and then followed Sieg and Freya out. The twins carried out two things, one was what appeared to be a plate of chocolate cake and the other appeared to be a giant chocolate ice cream sundae. Meta Knight hid his confusion and concern for what he was getting, willing to stomach down this meal for the sake of his children.
"Happy birthday, dad! We made these for you!" They both exclaimed with a hug.
"Thank you, Sieg, Freya." He then looked at the desserts. "Not that I'm unappreciative of it, but is there any reason why there's two dishes?"
"Um... we both had ideas of what we wanted to do but we couldn't decide..." Freya explained.
"We didn't wanna cheat and use the Cook Ability, so we did our best on our own..."
Her father nodded and then looked at both the dishes. The chocolate cake looked uneven and was covered in a mountain of frosting and occasional sprinkles. There was a message on it, but it was barely legible. For the sundae, it looked a bit neater, but at the same time it was also extremely messy, with a lot of its toppings starting to settle in the bottom of the giant bowl. Of course, there was chocolate ice cream and fudge, but there also was a notable coffee scent lingering near the bottom. Speaking of the bottom, there were brownie bites and chocolate chips starting to pile up there and the whipped cream was starting to slide to the bottom of the bowl. Honestly, he didn't know how to feel about them.
"I'm going to have the ice cream first because I know it'll melt if I let it sit out." Meta said, making it clear to Sieg that there was no favoritism involved.
The twins nodded and Meta took a bite of the sundae. Almost instantly, he was shocked! Quickly, he tried Sieg's dish and he was reeling from it. Not because they were bad, but quite the opposite! They were delicious!
"Fetty, try this!" Meta exclaimed, allowing his wife to have a bite.
Fettuccine tried a bite of the sundae, and she was blown away enough to try the cake, only to get the same reaction. "You both made these without the Cook Ability?!"
"Uh-huh!" Both twins nodded.
Meta stared for a moment and then stooped down to Sieg and Freya's level before giving them a hug.
"It's wonderful. Thank you so much." He uttered in a gentle voice and his heart melted when he saw their sparkling eyes in response to that. Almost instantly, he felt them tackle him while in his arms.
"Happy birthday, dad!"

home alone skipping thanksgiving dinner and overwhelmed by takeout options - i decided on a place but i've got too much in my cart... i'm definitely getting mozz and beef arancini so i guess we're just deciding between:
wings (i've had a lot of chicken lately and i am a bit tired of it but the truffle parmesan is calling me) and pizza (i already have other takeout pizza in the freezer that i could heat up but this one's better)
there's also the wild card option of beef and udon noodle soup from another restaurant that kind of feels like a home alone skipping an extended family event habit at this point because the rest of the family doesn't care to order from that place... so i really don't know what i want other than arancini which is happening no matter what

Here’s Your First Peek at Blake Shelton’s Las Vegas Honky Tonk Bar
Blake Shelton’s sprawling country bar will offer some of the best views in Las Vegas
by Janna Karel  Jan 4, 2024, 1:49pm PST
Janna Karel is the Editor for Eater Vegas.
Blake Shelton’s Ole Red, a sprawling, multi-story bar, dance hall, music venue, and restaurant, opens soon, and when it does, it may offer the best rooftop view of the Las Vegas Strip. Shelton broke ground on Ole Red in January of 2023 in front of the Horseshoe Las Vegas. Since then, construction crews have been building the four-story Tennessee-born restaurant, chefs have been developing a menu with dishes that are exclusive to Las Vegas, and Shelton’s team has been bulking up the roster of musical acts that will perform on stage beneath the 4,500-pound ceiling-mounted tractor.
The roughly 27,000-square-foot country bar has four levels. On the first floor is a stage in front of a 38-foot-tall LED screen that can project images to complement shows or be divided into smaller screens for broadcasting sports and other events. The second and third stories overlook the stage and each floor has a bar at the back and fully modular seating — meaning that each floor can offer traditional restaurant-style tables, lounge-style seating, or even have the furniture cleared away to make room for dancing.
Tumblr media
The second floor has a first for Las Vegas — a direct walkway into the honky tonk. The elevated pedestrian walkway stretches from the Bellagio Las Vegas Hotel and Casino side of Las Vegas Boulevard to right inside the bar. Both stories have outdoor balconies, offering views of the Grand Bazaar Shops to the East and the Fountains at Bellagio to the west.
The fourth floor is up on the rooftop and will offer a more exclusive experience. Reservations will be encouraged for evening VIP dining, with semi-private cabanas and lounge seating reserved with table minimums. The rooftop will have regular dining at lunch time, then transition to nightlife service around 9 p.m. every night, with cocktail menus and entertainment unique to the fourth floor.
Tumblr media
The view from the center Strip rooftop is panoramic, offering views from the Mandalay Bay at the south end of the Strip to the Mirage at the north end. It’s primed for viewing big events like the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix and parades for the Golden Knights or Las Vegas Aces, with more than a mile of visibility in either direction. Ole Red can seat about 670 people, or offer standing room for more than 1,100. It’s a capacity that warrants the facility’s two kitchens.

The menu will have about 17 items from Ole Red’s locations in Tennessee, Florida, and Shelton’s hometown of Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Chef Mark Boor spent months developing a further 17 dishes that will be unique to Las Vegas. There will be appetizers like the Turnin’ Me On loaded tots, which are rounds of house-made crispy tots piled high with truffle salt, bacon, parmesan, herbs, a sweet bourbon onion and tomato jam, and a smoked black bean aioli. Shrimp corn dogs are Boor’s answer to “Vegas-ifying” the corn dog — coating skewers of shrimp in a light and flaky batter, served with three types of aioli. Boor says his favorite dish, and one he expects to be a crowd-pleaser, is the blackberry crispy chicken sliders. The three mini sandwiches are layered with sweet blackberry compote, a tangy whipped goat cheese spread with jalapenos, cabbage, and super crispy chicken on brioche buns.
Leaning into the West Coast-adjacent location, the menu will have a street corn salad with roasted corn and cotija cheese and mahi-mahi tacos with slaw and avocado. The Hell Right burger is 10 ounces of ground short rib, brisket, and chuck with hatch green chiles, pepper jack cheese, and smoked mushrooms — the result a super juicy burger requiring a two-hand grip. And there’s also the Ole Red ribeye, a 20-ounce bone-in ribeye with spiced chipotle butter, horseradish mashed potatoes, and crunchy slaw.

Ole Red Las Vegas and Ryman Hospitality Properties say that this will be the chain’s largest location to date. With a focus on live country music, the bar will predominantly boast a soundtrack of acoustic solo artists during the day, bands in the evening, and even DJs performing after dark. General manager, Ryan Klaasen says that on most days, the restaurant will be organized for lunch service through the afternoon, and then the tables and booths may take on whatever redecorating is needed to accommodate the night’s entertainment.
“I’ve been coming here a long time. I hosted award shows and worked concerts and was a fan and witness to Gwen Stefani’s residency,” Shelton said at an announcement for the bar last January. “And every time I’m here, I want to see some damn country music.” Shelton said he expects that Ole Red will welcome talent from unsigned singers and artists previously featured on The Voice. He’s also pitched a night in which visitors play talent scouts, listening to music from country artists in a venue with concert-quality production.
Tumblr media
While Ole Red doesn’t have an opening date yet, it is expected to open within the next few weeks.
