The Apothecary Diaries Personality Types: Maomao
Tumblr media
Y'all knew this was coming. Maomao is the only character I feel comfortable analyzing from this show so far, but I'm looking forward to getting to know the other characters better!
Maomao is probably the clearest example of her Enneagram that I can think of. Her MBTI is a little less obvious, but I still think it's quite clear. Here goes!
Maomao's Enneagram
Wound: Maomao's birth mother was mentally unwell and abused her, including by cutting off Maomao's finger. Maomao was then raised at the brothel that had employed her birth mother, though she was aware that her birth had damaged the brothel's reputation and irreparably destroyed her mother's value as a courtesan.
Wounding message: You are a burden. You must earn your right to exist.
Core desire: To avoid notice so she can focus on survival & her work as an apothecary.
Core fear: attracting too much notice and becoming a target
Defense mechanism: Maomao maintains a pragmatic, aloof approach to life. She avoids romanticizing things, and even avoids daring to hope things could be better for her.
Strengths: Maomao is curious, intelligent, helpful, cautious, calm, perceptive, dependable, objective, matter-of-fact, and independent.
Challenges: Maomao is reserved, secretive, obsessive, detached, cynical, nihilistic
When healthy: Maomao will stand up for what she knows is right.
When unhealthy: I'm not sure I know what she's like when unhealthy...
Looking at all of this, here's what connects when I go back to the Enneagram post:
Wound: 5, 6, 7, 8, or 9
Wounding message: 2, 5, or 7
Core desire: 5
Core fear: 5, 6, or 8
Defense mechanism: 5
Strengths: 1, 5, or 6
Challenges: 5
When healthy: 4, 5, or 9
When unhealthy: unsure, though I think 3 and 8 sound most likely
Maomao is an Enneagram 5.
Fives live in the Head center, and tend to underexpress fear. From Personality Path:
Fear is underexpressed in Type 5s by limiting engagement with the outside world. Concerns about being overwhelmed motivate Type 5s to withdraw from others. Anger can be triggered when personal boundaries are breached because this threatens the withdrawal strategy used to avoid anxiety. Shame or Sadness presents itself when Type 5s struggle with typical human interactions, which can be difficult because of their disconnection from the emotional world and their tendencies to isolate themselves from others. Concerns about being overwhelmed by their environment and the demands of others are often at the bottom of the three core emotions for Type 5s.
Shigure Sohma from Fruits Basket and Haruhi Fujioka from Ouran High School Host Club are both Fives.
Wing
The Enneagram Institute calls 5w4 "The Iconoclast" and 5w6 "The Problem Solver". Maomao, famous for solving problems, is pretty clearly a 5w6. From Truity:
5w6s are practical, helpful, and organized. While still fiercely independent, 5w6s tend to be more cooperative and loyal than other Fives. They excel in troubleshooting and solving complex problems.
Haruhi Fujioka is also a 5w6.
Subtype
I think Maomao is almost certainly not a SX 5, but I could see a case for either SP or SO.
Maomao at times seems to show a lack of regard for her own safety, from testing poisons on herself to casually discussing her potential execution with Jinshi. She is keenly aware of her position within the imperial hierarchy, or the hierarchy of Verdigris House. She is also very aware of which information could be dangerous vs. which information is crucial to share (and whether it's safe for her to share it openly). Where SP 5s are very focused on privacy and boundaries, SO 5s are more focused on knowledge and tend to almost hoard knowledge for use as protection.
For these reasons, I think Maomao is a SO 5w6. She is the first Social 5 I've analyzed. Description from EnneaApp:
Search for totems (symbols of the social group) which are sources of knowledge
Seek knowledge in totemic symbols such as scientific formulas/esoteric paradigms
Have preoccupation with mind as a source of power, attracted to realm of academia
Concerned with titles, degrees, credentials; relates socially through defined roles
Attracted to systems of study that yield big-picture accounts of social forces
Knowledge is power and forewarned is forearmed; insider information is protective
Belongs to some kind of "in-group" connected through specialized information
Likes to refine thinking with "people who know" in a setting that is free of small talk
May live in high society, knows the "right" people, belongs to the best clubs
Doesn't like to compete; will not jockey for rank; wants to be "called"/recognized
May enjoy speaking a professional language that only a few people understand
May appear haughty/condescending; may tell others how to do things quicker/better
More social than other fives; torn between group connection and wish for privacy
Tritype
With 5 as her Head type, I think Maomao's Gut type is most likely 9 (though I wouldn't rule out 8 or 1 just yet), and her heart type could be 3 or 2 (but probably not 4).
Maomao is fascinating because she wants to stay out of other people's business, but it's almost like she can't help herself. I don't think she really craves admiration, as a 3 would, nor do I think she wants to be central in other people's lives, as a 2, but I do think her desire to be helpful is slightly stronger than her desire to be successful.
With 2 in the mix, I think 9 would need to be her Gut type. 2s can be so intrusive and pushy; having a mix of 5 and 9 in her tritype really balance out that aspect of 2, whereas 8 would exaggerate it.
After reading the descriptions, I think 2-5-9 ("The Problem Solver"), 3-5-8 ("The Solution Master"), and 3-5-9 ("The Thinker") are all decent matches, but 2-5-9 seems like the best fit.
From Katherine Fauvre's website:
If you are a 259, you are caring, knowledgeable, and accepting. You want to be helpful, wise, and peaceful. You are naturally very quiet, soft-spoken, and shy, but observe and track everything going on around you.  You focus on problems and enjoy tinkering and fixing things. You need companionship and avoid feelings of loneliness by focusing on the needs and concerns of others. You are the smart, reserved, and sympathetic, ‘people’ person. You can see how to fix things but struggle with inaction when overwhelmed.
Maomao is actually the first 259 I've analyzed in this series!
Maomao's MBTI
Sticking with my more recent format, here's how I see Maomao's mental processes:
Information-Gathering:
Everyone uses both iNtuition and Sensing, but one will be more natural to rely on. Everyone will also introvert one of these processes, and extrovert the other.
Someone who introverts iNtuition and extroverts Sensing will be able to cut to the core of understanding something in a state of deep, solitary focus. They will gather sensory information through their experience in the present, preferably with others.
Someone who extroverts iNtuition and introverts Sensing will tend to brainstorm aloud, connecting many possibilities at once, and will rely on comparisons to past sense-memories in order to understand the present.
Maomao seems to use Ni quite strongly, and Se less so, making her an -N-J type.
Decision-Making:
Just like with the two information-gathering processes, everyone uses both Thinking and Feeling to some degree, but will use one more naturally. And again, they will introvert one, and extrovert the other.
Someone who introverts Thinking and extroverts Feeling will use their own internal logical framework to come to decisions, and will base their decisions on outcomes for the people around them.
On the other hand, someone who extroverts Thinking and introverts Feeling will use external logic in decision-making, such as rules, laws, procedures, checklists, etc... and will base their decisions on the kind of person they want to be, or the kind of person they see themselves to be.
Maomao seems to use Te quite strongly, and Fi to a lesser degree.
This would make her an -NTJ type.
I think it's more likely that Ni is her Dominant process than Te, making her an INTJ, also called "The Mastermind".
Let's look at what Dominant Ni looks like:
Can appear visionary. Connects unconscious images, themes, and connections to see things in new ways. Brainstorm internally with themselves. Trusts and relies on inner insights, which may be hard for others to understand. Keyword: Visioning.
When exaggerated:
unrealistic visions, only accept data that supports their theories, make things overcomplicated
Inferior Se:
obsess over external, small, unimportant details, overindulge in sensual pleasures (overeat, over drink, etc.), see environment as hostile and dangerous
And the description of INTJ:
Have original minds and great drive for implementing their ideas and achieving their goals. Quickly see patterns in external events and develop long-range explanatory perspectives. When committed, organize a job and carry it through. Skeptical and independent, have high standards of competence and performance—for themselves and others.
This is a great description of Maomao! She shares this type with Prince Zuko of Avatar: the Last Airbender, and Kento Nanami from JuJutsu Kaisen.
Maomao's Personality Summary
Enneagram: SO 5w6 (The Investigator/The Problem Solver)
Tritype: 2-5-9 (The Problem Solver)
MBTI: INTJ (The Mastermind)
Maomao is perceptive, rational, and detached yet kindhearted. She connects discrete, seemingly disparate bits of information to solve medical and criminal mysteries and help others. She is extremely cautious as she remains hyper-aware of her rank in hierarchical systems, and the tenuousness of her safety, although she can forget her caution when she becomes lost in thought or obsessed with another mystery.
What do you think? Do you agree with my analysis? Why or why not?

6s and Their Fixes
In this article, we will discuss the theory of tritype in relation to 6. The following directly addresses the influence of the core and first fix (the first two numbers in your tritype). The final fix will have less of a strong influence on the 6 itself, and exist mostly in synergy with the other two numbers (how does it accommodate or work against them?). I’ve noticed in interacting with 6s…

hirano typology analysis <3
Tumblr media
okay, everyone! let's start off from this page first thing first.
Tumblr media
as you can see he's typed estj 1w2 but let's go further in this:
estjs are te-fi si-ne axis based which means his te and his si need fi and ne to function (this axis is applied for ti-fe se-ni as well and goes both ways).
(for anyone who doesn't know how this works: cognitive function in a stack of 8 make a type AND it's shadow type (your "opposite" type) as you can see in the screenshot up there functions are set this way: introvert > extr. > intr > extr. OR extr. > intr. > extr. > intr.)
let's start with his dom-aux stack
honestly, i believe he's an estj as well so im going to stick with this typing.
his dominant function is Te, i think this guy has an unbearable amount of Te here 😭
up to now I've noticed he is:
- rational
- more in his head than his heart
- pragmatic
- focused on efficiency
- very responsible
- direct (says what he thinks in your face even if it might hurt you (for ex. like when he rejected kagi for the first time)
as for his Si, which is high as well, this is what I've noticed:
- respects traditions (doesn't mean he supports them but he has nothing against them)
- sense of duty and responsibility
- he needs structure and order
- he's loyal
- resistant to major changes
- stubborn
- tidy
actually about his dominant function (between Te and Si) i have something to say about his Fi in the tert-inf stack. i think he uses much more Fi than Ne so I'd move it to tert. position and put Ne in inf. that'd make him an istj tho. in the latest chapter we can see how he thinks it's "right" not to stop Kagi from moving on but it's not an action of pure morality since sensei's shown us his whole reasonment. we can see that it's more of a "rational morality" which in a in a typology aspect is clearly Te and Fi working together. Still, i think both an istj and estj typing are correct since there's only a difference in the functions positions (estj: Te-Si-Ne-Fi istj: Si-Te-Fi-Ne).
okay now comes my fav part of typology!
enneagram, tritype and instinctual variants!
im gonna note them here so I don't have to scroll up over and over again.
enneagram: 1w2
tritype: 152
instinctual variants: so/sp
alright, so. I'd make some changes here.
first thing, his enneagram. i think e1 is correct for him since e1 is a perfectionist who thinks they have some kind of mission, they're usually systematic and responsible (in his case his self-given mission could be helping kagi with his studies for ex.) while for his w2, i honestly don't know because e2s help others out of a personal gain (to feel better about themselves) which I don't think is hirano's case because he genuinely helps others even if he doesn't get anything in return. he could be a 1w9 in my opinion. type 9s look for harmony and peace and fear having their harmony shaken/broken which could be related to his change avoidance? i think it's surely better than 1w2 (since type 2s are subconsciously selfish and he isn't selfish at all).
tritype: i think it's correct, although I wouldn't type him an e5 since he's not shown us he likes to collect knowledge "just because"
instinctual variants: I don't think so/sp is accurate, he's probably an sx/so. from my point of view it's like he values his close relationships more, by this i mean it's like he's completely comfortable with only one person (which is kagi) and I wouldn't change the social typing
we reached the end of my analysis!
it's probably confusing since my thought process is very messy to begin with, I'm sorry if it seems like that 😭

Hey, what does the 279 mean in your pinned post?
That little number is my tri type! It's a personality test of sorts!
Here's the tri type explained in the best way I can:
What is Tritype?
Tritype is a concept from the Enneagram personality typing system. In the Enneagram, there are nine distinct personality types, each characterized by specific core motivations, fears, and desires. The tritype theory suggests that while everyone has a dominant Enneagram type, they also have significant influences from two other types—one from each of the three centers of intelligence: the head (types 5, 6, 7), the heart (types 2, 3, 4), and the gut (types 8, 9, 1).
A person's tritype is thus a combination of three Enneagram types, one from each center, in order of dominance. For example, someone might have a tritype of 4-7-8, meaning their dominant type is 4 (heart center), with strong secondary influences from type 7 (head center) and type 8 (gut center).
This is usually a more nuanced and complex way to analyze a person. My tritype is 279, hence the number in the bio.

childhood of enneagram types
📍Enneagram 8 : the challenger . ☆ . • ☆ . ° .• °:. *₊ ° . ☆
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
an E8 kid probably grew up in a dangerous environment or a violent household. Or even if they grew up in a normal household , very early in life they understood that the world is an unfair, unsafe place so meek, weak people don't make it; the thing that matters the most is survival. As a kid they might have felt like it's not okay to feel pain, be weak & vulnerable. It's likely they were betrayed by an adult figure and came to believe that people can't be relied on. They were adventurous kids & frequently got into trouble , when they were punished for it( sometimes unfairly) the kids defended themselves, they fought back, they felt like if no one defends them then they themselves will. This E8 kid was the black sheep or scapegoat child of their family. Just like E1 kids they were forced to grow up quickly. The more rejection they faced as kids the more they hardened their hearts. The innocence of a kid was lost very early. Mostly it's the betrayal, unfairness & rejection they experienced in childhood. The child knew the world is cruel , in order to survive you have the protect your feelings, be bold & assertive. It's likely they lacked protection, even they were a small child they liked to see themselves as big & powerful to defend themselves against it. Growing up the E8 child might felt like one day they will avenge the unfairness they were experiencing.

Hi, I'm usually here for SHC, but I've been curious about the Enneagram again lately, and I'm wondering about the format listed in your description. "9w8 (3w2 6w5)" Are those secondary values meant to be one per center, or the directions of (dis)integration? What's the idea of the extension? I'm a 4w5 and I'm not sure how I'd be supposed to extend it myself.
Sorry for my long absence :)
So, you have your enneagram (1-9) then you have your centers (heart-head-gut) that influences your enneagram.
So, if someone with 836 tritype will be much more able to play the game than someone with 845 tritype. Both are 8 with its flaws and upsides. But one with 3 and 6 influence will be more personable (Because both 3 and 6 move toward people), while one with 4 and 5 influence will be much more negative and closed off (due to both 4 and 5 directed inward toward flaws and negativity).
Of course, I cannot really help you with your tritype because I don't know you. But I can share how I discover mine and you can make it your own:
I'm 9w8 with all its flaws. But in my heart center (desire, how I want to come across to people), I prefer to present myself with intelligence, wit and hardwork. Because I like to be seen as competent (despite being a 9). Which is 3 fix influence (competency type).
In my head center (how I approach fear and threat), I confront it measuredly, I'm well aware of my own limitation and seek community around me to help dealing with threats while arming myself with knowledge which is a 6w5 fix influence.
Also please note that 936 tritype is some of the hardest to pin down. Because each fix flows into each other (through integration and disintegration). But, if you know your type, you can start looking for the influence from each center and see which one fits the most.

In a world where personality frameworks are used to understand deeper human nature, I’ve navigated through various systems to explore which ones resonate most with me.
As a neurodivergent individual with ADHD, giftedness and emotional fluidity factor I’ve found that no one system alone fully captures the complexities of my unique personality.
Here’s a quick recap of my personality styles across different typologies:
– Core Energetics: Oral-Schizoid [typed by Katherine Fauvre]
– Tritype®: sx/sp 548 Artisan/Scholar/Sage [typed by Katherine Fauvre] with two types close in dominance and +/+/= identifications.
– SOJT: The Intuitive Type [and part of EN(T) Classic Jungian type grouping].
– Official MBTI®: ENTP [typed by MBTI® certified Katherine Fauvre]. For an insightful breakdown of the real MBTI® model (dichotomies), including critiques of the so-called MBTI “functions”, check out this post by Reckful: link. Anyways, for those asking about modern MBTI “functions”, I resonate the most with MBTI “Ne” (= NP traits) and somewhat with MBTI “Ti” (= TP traits).
– Hekatior: dVl-uNu [e>i, t>f]
– Big5: xCUx|I| primarily inquisitive [100% openness] with a marginal sCUa|I| lean
– Alignment: Chaotic Neutral
– Cognitive Style: Divergent-Divergent-Convergent [typed by Katherine Fauvre] occasionally going triple divergent.
– Astrology: Virgo Sun, Aquarius Moon, Gemini Rising. A rare sky map combining intellectual maverick with a trickster sage vibe 😉
– Chinese Zodiac: Earth Dragon
– Leadership style: Pioneering
– NLP learning styles: Primarily visual
– Heart attitude: Primarily agreeable [close to the middle] temporarily switching to disagreeable stance when needed.
– Social extraversion: Overall 5-6/10 [ambivert with marginal tilt towards extraversion]
Additional notes:
– Humoralism was thoroughly debunked by Rudolf Virchow in the 1850s. Systems relying on the 4T model such as PY [‘In fact, the theory of temperaments is an integral part of Psychosophy’ – Afanasyev, Syntax of Love, p. 78], 5T and similar are invalid.
– I’m not interested in engaging with Socionics as a system. While I don’t find it impressive, I’ve written an essay explaining its limitations from a Hekatior perspective: link
– DISC doesn’t work properly on us neurodivergents [Marston’s book was Emotions of Normal People, clearly designed for neurotypicals use only]
Final thoughts:
Each system adds another layer of insight, helping me navigate the complexities of my neurodivergent mind. I hope this breakdown of my personality styles provides clarity for those curious about me and for anyone looking to explore their own personality through these frameworks.
Overall I strongly recommend exploring Tritype® by Katherine Chernick Fauvre and Hekatior by yours truly. 😉

Fruits Basket Personality Types Part 3: Tohru Honda
Tumblr media
Okay, I'm super excited to get into each character's personality type! Rather than stating what Enneagram and MBTI type I think they are out front, and then working to provide evidence, I want to start from scratch. What this means is that in figuring out their Enneagram, I'll list things like their childhood wound or core desire as presented in the manga/anime without worrying about making it match any of the types as laid out in my first personality types post, and for the MBTI, I'll try and figure out their orientations, processes, and type dynamics independent of each other first, and then look at whether my assessment of those elements is cohesive for them.
We'll also go slightly deeper into each character's most likely type (in both systems), looking at things like their Enneagram subtype and wings, and the description and nickname of their MBTI.
Tohru Honda's Enneagram
Wound: Tohru lost her father at a young age, and then almost lost her mother, too. She was left alone for a long period at an age where she couldn't yet take care of herself, and had to grow up much too early. She adopted her father's mannerisms (poorly) out of fear that she'd lose her mother if she didn't find some way to keep him alive. She had trouble making friends, too, so I'd say loneliness plays a big part in her wound.
Wounding message: You must take on your father's traits, or you'll lose your mother, too.
Core desire: This is tricky, since Tohru struggles to articulate her desires, but I think she truly desires to be surrounded by people she loves, and to help them as much as she can.
Core fear: Tohru's greatest fear is losing the people she loves.
Defense mechanism: Tohru's defense mechanism is to repress her authentic self- her needs, her desires, even her personality- to avoid pushing people away.
Strengths: Tohru has a wonderful gift for understanding people, and provides a non-judgmental, supportive listening ear. She's endlessly giving and a reliable friend.
Challenges: Tohru goes along with what others want and doesn't ask for help to a problematic degree. She's spacey and takes forever to make important decisions, often because she struggles to look inward.
When healthy: When Tohru is most in-tune with herself (like we see at the end of the story), she's more stubborn and outspoken, but still with all the warmth and compassion that makes her so wonderful.
When unhealthy: Tohru represses herself and fails to acknowledge her difficult emotions, becoming even more of a pushover.
Looking at all of this, here's what connects when I go back to the Enneagram post:
Wound: could be 2, 4, or 9
Wounding message: could be 2, 3, or 9
Core desire: could be 2, 3, 8, or 9
Core fear: very strongly 9, though with elements of 2 and 3
Defense mechanism: again very strongly 9, though 2 is close as well
Strengths: 2 or 9, with elements of 5
Challenges: very strongly 9
When healthy: 2, 5, or 9
When unhealthy: 3 and 9
I initially thought Tohru was a 2, because she is endlessly giving and puts other's needs before her own. However, Twos become needy, demanding, and possessive when stressed, and Tohru is much the opposite, withdrawing and becoming more complacent and indecisive when stressed. This is why I see Tohru as an Enneagram 9.
Nines will often numb out with distractions, like video games, etc... At first, I had trouble seeing this for Tohru, but then I read that Nines can also use hard work as a means of avoiding their difficult emotions, which describes Tohru perfectly.
In the header graphic of my Enneagram post, that diagram separates the types into triads centered around the head, the heart, and the body (which I refer to as the gut). Types 2-4 are heart types, and their controlling emotion is sadness or shame. Types 5-7 are head types, and their controlling emotion is fear. And types 8, 9, and 1 are gut types, and their controlling emotion is anger.
In each triad, one type will overexpress their controlling emotion, one will underexpress it, and one will repress it. Nines underexpress anger, which absolutely fits Tohru. Additionally, conflict feels more intense for Tohru than for most, which is a key part of Nines.
Wing
Nines tend to have some things in common with either Eights or Ones, called their "Wing." Eight only appeared once in my connections, and One didn't appear at all. (This is probably why I didn't understand her character very well at first! As a One with a Two wing, I really didn't connect with Nine.)
The Enneagram Institute refers to 9w8s as "The Referee," and 9w1s as "The Dreamer." Tohru seems like more of a Dreamer than a referee to me.
Truity describes the two wings like this:
9w8: The Nine wing Eight type is a Nine who shares many of the Type Eight characteristics. This type is independent, social, adaptable, and generally more assertive and direct than other Nines. 9w1: The Nine wing One type is a Nine who has many of the same features as the Type One personality. This type is hardworking, friendly, modest, and generally more serious and diligent than other Nines.
Yeah, I think 9w1 fits Tohru best!
Subtype
Additionally, people will have a Subtype, either Self-Preservation (SP), Sexual (SE), or Social (SO). This refers to the survival instinct that the person prioritizes, whether physical needs (SP), community membership (SO), or intimate, 1:1 connection (SE - this does not always refer to actual sexual connection).
Tohru has a strong focus on her "most important person." At first, that's her mother, and then it becomes Kyo. For this reason, I think she's a SE 9w1. (And Enneagram Explained says that SE Nines can often look like Twos!)
Tritype
There's also something called a Tritype, which identifies the strongest Type in each center for a person. I think it's pretty clear that Tohru's Tritype would include both 9 and 2, but her Head type is a little harder to figure, but ultimately, I think the 2-6-9 Tritype (The Good Samaritan) is the best fit, as described on Katherine Fauvre's website:
If you are a 269, you are caring, inquisitive and accepting. You want to be helpful, supportive, and peaceful. You like people and want to find ways to engage with them. Your sense of pride comes from getting along with others and being of assistance. You are known for your kindness, easygoing, and friendly disposition. You will push for what you think is needed but may struggle with being seen as passive or quietly passive-aggressive.
Tohru Honda's MBTI
E vs. I: This is tough, because I see elements of both E and I, but I think Tohru generally prefers to focus her attention outwardly, and thus is more likely to be an E.
S vs. N: Again, I don't feel terribly confident here, but I'd lean toward N. She makes some pretty big leaps in connecting ideas throughout the series.
T vs. F: Tohru is quite clearly an F, making decisions based on her values rather than her logic, and focusing on how her decisions affect other people.
J vs. P: Tohru is also quite clearly a P, taking a lot of time to gather information before coming to a decision.
Type Dynamics: Without working out what an ENFP's type dynamics are (since that's my most likely guess for Tohru), I see Tohru's Type Dynamics as Fi Ne Si Te.
Fi: Tohru is highly empathetic and tends to keep her feelings to herself, expressing her values instead through her actions.
Ne: Tohru tends to brainstorm aloud quite often (sometimes as a way of avoiding her feelings).
Si: Tohru has a strong recall of specific details from past situations, which she uses to inform the present.
Te: this is harder for me to see in Tohru, but I think the way she went about trying to break the curse might be an example of her Extroverted Thinking Inferior Process, as she showed concern for outside rules and laws, and worked toward her goal in a relatively systematic way.
This... actually fits INFP, which would probably be my second guess for Tohru. She does have a rich inner world that she rarely shows to others. ENFP would be Ne Fi Te Si - close, but in a slightly different order of importance and development.
Now, let's check the descriptions for ENFP and INFP:
ENFP: Warmly enthusiastic and imaginative. See life as full of possibilities. Make connections between events and information very quickly, and confidently proceed based on the patterns they see. Want a lot of affirmation from others, and readily give appreciation and support. Spontaneous and flexible, often rely on their ability to improvise and their verbal fluency. INFP: Idealistic, loyal to their values and to people who are important to them. Want to live a life that is congruent with their values. Curious, quick to see possibilities, can be catalysts for implementing ideas. Seek to understand people and to help them fulfill their potential. Adaptable, flexible, and accepting unless a value is threatened.
To me, INFP is a slightly better fit. INFPs are also sometimes called "The Mediator," or "The Healer," which suits Tohru quite well!
So, to summarize:
Enneagram: SE 9w1 (The Peacemaker/The Dreamer)
Tritype: 2-6-9 (The Good Samaritan)
MBTI: INFP (The Mediator/The Healer)
What do you think? Did I get it right or wrong? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
Next up: Akito!

6 + 3w4
Hello, dear readers! I have neglected this (and my other) blogs for a while, but my 3w4 fix has been busy working on an Enneagram book. I will have a preorder up in a couple of weeks. I’m very excited about sharing it with you, because it contains a lot of unique perspectives, new information, and personal insights into all the types, with growth sections and long wing descriptions (which most…

479 Tri-type description
479s typically tone down their hyper-emotionality and suffering when around others. They don't want to be difficult, and they don't want to be drama queens. They find such a self-image embarrassing, and they are certain the future holds great promise and potential, so aren't they a little pathetic for focusing on their tragedy? They may self-dramatize and bring attention to themselves at times, but it's typically followed by a down-playing of the tragedy and a reframing of the situation- "All in all, it was probably worth it, and not really a big deal, anyway..."
479s view themselves as special, clever, elite, talented, and regrettably, ordinary. Attracted to the new, the known, and the emotionally intense, they can feel a bit of the will-o'-the-wisp, never quite knowing where their fancy will take them- will the day be mundane or exhilarating? Dramatic or comforting?
Intellectually and emotionally curious, yet liking balance, 479s tend not to push things 'too far'. They may play it safe in a lot of ways, getting their stimuli and emotional depth via books, film, music and other artistic media versus through gritty life experience or putting themselves on the line (although they likely swing through levels of mania or hyper-excitability and depression or listlessness). 479s are somewhat risk averse- the four may dive into dangerous waters but the seven wants to keep things pleasurable and light while the nine would really rather take it easy, so the 479 ends up swimming back to shore, reads a good book in a hammock and then falls asleep, all the while wondering when something big will happen in their life, when they will finally reach their full magnitude.
The 479s' tendency to take the easier road can quite likely lead to a regretful place where they find themselves mired with difficult questions: "Why do I fall so easily? When will I get my drive, determination and self-discipline? What will it take for me to stay committed to one thing, no matter how difficult it is? When is my life going to be how I expected it to be?" These questions (and the failings they acknowledge) may lead to depression and a loss of self-esteem, but that doesn't mean thinking about them and recognizing their flaws is going to get them anywhere. The only way 479s will truly have lives which please them is through sucking it up and getting down to business. This doesn't mean a life of drudgery, but rather acknowledging what matters to them and making it manifest- honestly expressing their emotional range vs sugar-coating it; recognizing that potential doesn't equate ability and experience (and then making a point of acquiring that experience and ability); and not getting tired and apathetic when life throws challenges their way.
With accomplishments and self-fulfillment, 479s can't help but recognize that they possess great worth. They are innovative and creative in an inspired and life-affirming way. They see beauty in all things and beings and recognize the necessity of both pleasure and pain. They are wholly aware that they are entirely unique yet simultaneously connected to every living being, and they are joyful to be living their life, with all its messiness, struggles, and simple pleasures.
Core Fours will have a harder edge and go deeper. They will be more emotionally expressive and darker than the 974 or 749.
Core Sevens will be lighter and more energetic. They will be more upbeat, fun, and enthusiastic/excitable than the 974 or 479.
Core Nines will be more gentle and accommodating. They will be more easy-going, relaxed, and have more of a healing presence than the 479 or 749.

Tumblr media
5 FIX - HOW 5 FIXES APPEAR
5 fixes way of dealing with fear are withdrawing and self-isolation. They feel the need to have more or know more to guarantee their safety, similar to hoarding. They tend to mentally overprepare for situations, so they won't be hurt or caught off guard.
Tumblr media
6 FIX - HOW 6 FIXES APPEAR
6 fixes way of dealing with fear is by overpreparing and handling their fears to make sure they can't happen. They over catastrophize and tend to be very anxious people, worrying about what's to come that they don't know; they avoid ambiguity because of such things.
Tumblr media
7 FIX - HOW 7 FIXES APPEAR
7 fixes way of dealing with fear is by rationalizing and minimizing their fears. They escape their internal fears by filling themselves with external experiences; essentially, they try to escape their fears by experiencing the world around them.

Ok, maybe this whole “figuring out the MBTI and Enneagrams” thing with all the KINAC characters has been harder than I thought it would.
I’m kinda struggling here. Basic Enneagrams with no wings? Got it.
Enneagrams with wings? Got some of them down.
MBTI types? I’m trying to better understand them with the function stacks but some of them are kinda confusing. In particular, I’m having trouble trying to understand how dominant perceiving functions influence certain people.
Don’t get me started on Enneagram tritypes. They can go fuck themselves sideways. Imagine my current struggles with wings, multiplied by 3. I don’t even know if the last one in my tritype is 8w9 or 9w8. Hell, I’m stuck on the second; 6w5 or 6w7? I don’t even know, man.
But perhaps the worst part is the fucking instincts. Can ANYONE familiar with the subject tell me why every single description I see of the instinctual variants online is so damn negative and unflattering?! It’s like healthy sx2’s or so4’s and shit don’t exist or something 😭
Anyway, it was a bad idea to do this when I’m someone who can’t even tell the difference between an INFJ and an INFP. Unfortunately, I’m not in contact with anyone who both knows plenty about this stuff AND plenty about KINAC, so I’m stuck doing this all on my own. At this point, I’m not even sure of Petal’s personality type.
I’ll get it eventually, y’all, but it’s a struggle…
(I think the problem with me and figuring this out is that it’s not enough that I am given descriptions of all these, I NEED EXAMPLES. Maybe I should go on YouTube or something…)
