abalone: what kind of situations compromise my muse emotionally

( Wilhelm considers himself to be emotionally stable, for the most part. However, he can still be compromised emotionally and it usually takes a significant amount of stress, pressure and/or trauma to sufficiently cause him to break down. It mostly has to do with harming those precious to him, such as Charlotte or Yuli, since those two are the most important people to him. He’d feel responsible if anything were to happen to them, especially since he promised them both on separate occasions that he’d do everything in his power to ensure their safety and happiness.

If he believes that he’s failed in some way and he witnesses the consequences of his failure firsthand, he’ll be distraught and will probably need a moment to regain his composure. He usually maintains his composure fairly well, even in stressful situations, but Wilhelm isn’t perfect. He’s a stoic man but he’s not so stoic after all, as he too falters every now and then. He’ll be quick to get back onto his feet but sometimes, he needs some time to do so. )

biotite: the biggest problems my muse is currently dealing with

( Perhaps the biggest problem Rche is dealing with is how he’s limited by the authority of his superiors, namely STN and even Cuvelia. For someone as proud as Rche, it’s unbearable to be told what to do and if it’s done by someone who is far more powerful than he is, he’s in no position to disobey. While Rche does have some capacity to rebel against STN and wishes to overthrow him, Rche is ultimately inferior to STN and this fact torments Rche endlessly to the point of denial. 

Rche pretends to be compliant but in actuality, he’s very, very distressed but above all, angry (which is ironic considering that STN is wrath incarnate). It reminds him of his time as an angel, forced to comply with the word of God but to still suffer from this as a demon, Rche is absolutely livid. He’ll never admit that STN is superior to him but he probably subconsciously realizes this, which only serves to fuel his own delusions of superiority. 

Furthermore, another problem Rche has is with those who are proud yet strong enough to resist Rche’s influence when he attempts to break them. Rche prides himself on having manipulated countless lives over thousands of years yet there will always be those who resist him and dare to claim superiority over Pride himself. While Rche sometimes kills these people off in a fit of rage, at the very least they died knowing that they didn’t succumb to Rche’s game in the way he wanted. )

carnelian: an art-related headcanon

( She enjoys art as a hobby but it’s more of a side hobby than anything else. It’s not something she prioritizes, especially not over her witchcraft, but she still partakes in it every now and then. She’s managed to incorporate art into her magic too. It helps to liven up the monotony of her life.

Trifoli doesn’t consider herself to be a skilled artist by any means but she still enjoys art nonetheless and has her own approach to it. She’s developed her own style, which can be best described as abstract but she’s fairly versatile and practices with different styles and mediums.

Nature is a recurring element in her art due to its significance to her. She enjoys painting landscapes in particular, as well as still life. 

She actually started drawing she was very young, drawing things you’d expect a child to draw like a self-portrait of herself and her family. When she was taken in by Joker and Parado, Trifoli started to become much more expressive with her artwork, learning that art was a medium through which you could express yourself. It was one of the ways she coped with the trauma of losing her family and being thrown into an unfamiliar world. 

Parado was the one who encouraged her to pursue artistic endeavors since he was a talented artist himself. He taught her a lot and while Trifoli admired his art, she couldn’t help but be jealous of him.

All in all, she appreciates art for what it is. She appreciates the freedom of expression and creativity. )

emerald: how my muse tells someone they love them without words

( Zizz is… quite expressive, let’s just put it that way.

For one, he’s pretty touchy-feely. Expect a lot of physical contact, like hugs. It’s kind of creepy sometimes, so please feel free to tell him off if he ever does this to any of your muses. To you specifically, I’d say he’d be doing this quite often to Yuli and Ninjin. Though with the latter, Zizz knows that he’s probably going to get his head lobbed off yet still tries to show his affection towards Ninjin regardless.

He’ll be overbearing. Doting, but in an overbearing way. He likes to provide and boy, does he provide. He’ll do whatever it takes to ensure that you’re happy and he’s happy. He’ll probably be constantly over your shoulder, asking how you are, asking if you’d like anything from him, etc.

He’ll seem even more enthusiastic than usual when he’s around someone he loves, as if it were even possible for Zizz to be any more enthusiastic than he already is. However, he’ll certainly seem… happier, in a way.

He’ll just shower you with a lot of affection and if he’s not going to directly tell you that he loves you, he’ll still shower you with compliments and encouragement.

Overall, he’s very much not afraid to show how much he loves someone through non-verbal action. He’s mostly in tune with his own emotions and he’ll openly express himself in all sorts of ways. )

❀ : What is your muse’s opinion about flower crowns?

Wilhelm acknowledges and appreciates the beauty and symbolism in specific arrangements of flower crowns, and just in general, really. When he finds the time to do so, Wil partakes in floral arrangement as an art and every so often, he’ll produce a few flower crowns and give them to those interested. Not that you’ll see him wearing them, though. They just don’t suit his style, in his opinion, but Charlotte would argue vehemently against that and encourages to wear them to varying degrees of success. Speaking of the doll, Charlotte adores them in all forms and will gladly wear a smaller version for her tiny, little head. She’ll tote them around in her arms, offering them to anyone she meets with a smile.

Black thinks they’re pretty (if not a bit silly-looking sometimes) but can’t bring himself to wear one without feeling embarrassed. Like Wilhelm, Black doesn’t think it suits him and would much rather just appreciate their aesthetic… Still, Black does quietly marvel at the craftsmanship and the natural beauty of the flowers. Weiß is indifferent and doesn’t care for them all too much, but he won’t go tearing one apart/dismissing it if it’s placed on him or given to him (that’d be too cruel). Chances are he’ll try keep it around for as long as possible, maybe try it on but just like Black, it’s just not his style. A bit of a trend here. But in any case, Weiß and Black could really benefit from having vibrant, cheerful colors in their lives so any kind of flowers are a plus.

Trifoli shares the same opinion about flower crowns as Wilhelm but is much more open to the idea of wearing them, seeing as she already adorns her usual outfit with a few flowers. She’ll gladly wear them and regularly makes crowns, either from flowers she’s grown, wild flowers from her forest or Wil’s flowers when the opportunity for a collaboration presents itself. Being as well-versed in the symbolism of flowers as she is, Trifoli will often make specific crowns with certain magical properties, enchanting them with essences for that little extra oomph. She’ll give these as presents or sell these. Trifoli has even taught others how to make flower crowns, including Tarte and Jack, hoping to impart some of that knowledge unto them. And well, naturally as the Queen of Clubs, Trifoli deserves a few crowns of her own. :’>

Character Development Questions ( x )

1: Describe their routine of a normal day/how do they feel when this routine is disrupted?

On a normal day, Trifoli wakes up early in the morning, freshens herself up and doesn’t take much more time to get ready for the day. She usually takes a walk through her forest in the morning, before breakfast to check on the condition of the flora and fauna of the forest, as well as harvesting any ingredients she might make use of. Tarte, Trifoli’s disciple and successor, usually accompanies her if she doesn’t visit the other jester children. From there, it’s a breakfast and Trifoli resumes with some of her studies and practice until about the afternoon, when she’ll have lunch. Despite having resumed contact with the outside world after years of isolation, Trifoli still seldom leaves the confines of her enchanted forest unless she’s needed elsewhere. She may occasionally visit Wilhelm or the other card suit jesters ( both adult and children ) for whatever reason. Once it’s the evening, Trifoli will prepare the evening meal for herself as well as take another stroll through the forest, making sure everything is in order. She’ll make a stop at a memorial she created for the fallen Jack of Spades, leaving an offering every day. Once she’s done, she’ll leave to retire for the evening.

If this routine is disrupted in any way, Trifoli will be annoyed, seeing as she wishes to remain punctual and consistent with her studies and her daily routine in general. Depending on the reason, however, she’d be more inclined to let it go and simply resume with her day if it isn’t a serious offense. Interrupting her visits to Parado’s grave, however, especially if one has the audacity (or is stupid enough) to slander his name to her face will have serious consequences usually resulting in the disappearance of many a demon in the forest. Trifoli will always claim they were taken by the forest itself, which may or may not be true considering that Trifoli’s enchanted it for years on end. 

9: What are the reasons for their profession? Are the REAL reasons different than what they TELL others?

Trifoli always felt a strong affinity towards the natural world, even as a young child and wanted to pursue studies in nature and witchcraft. She showed great promise and was taken in by Joker as one of his four disciples, given the power of the Clubs as the Queen. While Trifoli embraces her magic and her title, continuing to practice and study nature, she cannot help but feel jaded following the deaths of her master and her beloved fellow jester. This is more or less her reasoning, as well as what she tells others. 

12: What would they want to be remembered for?

Trifoli doesn’t care too much for being remembered or attaining fame, so long as she achieves what she wants. She doesn’t even really care for her reputation, which varies as much as Parado’s among her fellow demons. As of now, she wishes to know what really happened to Parado and uncover the truth not along behind his murder but behind the entire enigma behind her deceased master, whether or not this ‘Eternity’ really is worth pursuing.

Noir(-ish) AU - Character Design - Part 2

The pharmacist and the detective’s assistant. 

Trifoli

Trifoli looks... pale. Really pale and kind of sickly, but the more that I thought about it, the more I wanted that to be intentional. Since she’s a bit of a recluse, I could imagine her always confined indoors, either her apartment or her drugstore, so she doesn’t see much sunlight. Ironic for a pharmacist to look sickly, but she’s stressed out and relies on supplements to maintain her health.

Her outfit kind of looks like a school uniform, honestly. That wasn’t the intention. I just tried to design an outfit that I thought would look nice on her and make her look like she was suited to her job. It’s simple, neat and kind of cute. The colors are really dull, though, compared to her original design. Her hair in particular turned out a lot less vivid than her original emerald green color, but I suppose I wanted to make her hair look a little more realistic.

Parado

Compared to Trifoli, Parado looks way more, well, alive even though I dressed him in black and white. The black and white looks a little odd, since it seems like brown or gray suits are more common. If I were to borrow colors from his original outfit though... he’d probably look ridiculous.

I was debating on whether or not to give him a tie but I figured, to contrast Wilhelm’s neat and orderly appearance, Parado would look a little less neat and orderly. He’s still sharply dressed enough but not to Wilhelm’s extent. 

And a really self-indulgent sketch because I’m garbage.

One will do. I’m afraid I’ll burn out if I try to ramble about all of my AUs in one post so thank you for the consideration, hahaha. 

I’ve been thinking a lot about the Noir AU we came up with though, so I’ll be discussing that one. I’ll be including Yuli in this, if you don’t mind.

I’m honestly not familiar with the noir genre so chances are I’ll be taking plenty of creative liberties, drawing inspiration from many different sources which may or may not even be relevant to noir. If anything, I’d say this is just crime fiction, generally speaking. 

Disclaimer: I’m very bad at world building, especially with AUs that pertain to a specific genre, so please bear with me. 

I’m not going to base this entirely in reality. Loosely, but that’s about it. I’d rather refrain from using real-life locations and real-life events, just out of personal preference. Yes, I know I use real-life stuff in my regular headcanons but give me a break.

So, we’ll start off with an urban setting. My mind goes to New York City, namely Manhattan around the early to mid 1900s. Probably leaning towards the mid 1900s, considering that film noir is associated with the 40s and 50s. 

Overall, the mood/tone is very pessimistic, because that’s more or less what the film noir genre seems to encompass. Corruption and organized crime are prominent in the city and it seems as if those groups, particularly the criminal organizations, have the most power and influence.

And now a very basic run-down of the characters involved in this AU. Not every detail is fleshed out, as I’m still developing them. Details are subject to and likely to change at any time. Feel free to contribute any ideas, if you’d like, especially for Yuli’s involvement in the AU or any of your other muses for that matter. 

Wilhelm

Private investigator. Probably a war veteran, given that post-war themes are common in film noir, so he’s struggling with some form of post-traumatic stress disorder. Smokes and drinks to alleviate the stress from his line of work and generally to cope emotionally and mentally. 

Has a dead wife, because of course he does, and an estranged son, because of course he does. Has a dead personal assistant/best friend too. Otherwise, he doesn’t have any close relatives or even anyone he can really call a close friend, for that matter. Not much emotional support there, unfortunately.

But all in all, he’s really not a bad guy. He may be a crestfallen, pessmistic man struggling with substance abuse but he genuinely wants to expose the corruption in the city and restore some semblance of peace and stability. He’s willing to put in the work and effort to do so, since the city needs that more than anything, more than ever before. 

Charlotte

Popular singer and dancer who performed at various venues. She was well-liked for her voice but she was adored for her beauty and personality. Most of her songs were very hopeful and uplifting in nature, since she performed with the intention of bolstering people’s spirits in mind. She was very much a philanthropic, passionate woman. 

Charlotte and Wilhelm were married and had a child, though Charlotte died under mysterious circumstances. Wilhelm’s still trying to figure out how she died but he fears that it’s because she was a prominent public figure but she was involved with Wilhelm, who was in turn involved in the criminal activity of the city. 

Despite being deceased, she still serves as a primary inspiration for Wilhelm. Her ideals are what motivated Wilhelm to do his line of work in the first place. It’s safe to say that she was his ‘light’ in the midst of a such a bleak, dark world. I know the entire ‘deceased wife’ trope is overdone but look, I don’t care. 

Zizz

A relative of Charlotte’s, though I don’t really know what the exact relation is. Heck, maybe he’s just a close friend. He’s several years older than her, however, and was very protective of her. When she died, he was devastated and blamed Wilhelm for her death. He never liked Wilhelm to begin with, so this just gave him another reason to hate him. He’s very condescending and constantly belittles Wilhelm out of spite, all while reminding him of his failures. 

While he’s a manipulative bastard, Zizz does hate corruption as much as Wilhelm does. He’d be more willing to cooperate with Wilhelm if it weren’t for the fact that he hates Wilhelm. However, he does occasionally, very reluctantly, offer Wilhelm valuable leads and information. Of course, he’ll do it in a very condescending manner but he’ll swallow his pride, even for a moment, to ensure that Wilhelm does his job instead of wallowing in self-pity and self-loathing. 

Yuli

Wilhelm and Charlotte’s son, though he’s currently living with Zizz, who is more or less his guardian after Zizz pulled some strings (hue) to take custody of him from Wilhelm. Zizz loves him dearly, though he cannot stand the fact that he bears a strong resemblance to not only Charlotte, but Wilhelm. As such, Zizz often makes him wear a mask at home. 

He’s also a performer, as talented of a singer as his mother was. As such, he’s regarded as her successor and is well-liked by the audiences. However, because of his sheltered lifestyle, Yuli is only somewhat aware of the corruption in the city. Zizz would rather keep Yuli safe and out of harm’s way, since he believes that Charlotte met her demise because of her association with Wilhelm.

It doesn’t stop Yuli from being curious and wanting to look into it, however. He may be biting (hue) off more than he can chew… but even if he’s estranged from his father and was raised to loathe him, he’ll always be under Wilhelm’s watchful eye, even if he doesn’t realize this. 

Parado

Wilhelm’s assistant and best friend. A pleasant, easy-going fellow. He was very competent as Wilhelm’s assistant not only in detective work, but in many other fields and subjects in general. Had a bit of a gambling addiction, but he’d often go to gambling establishments with the purpose of exposing criminal activity while undercover. 

However, he was very much a risk-taker and had a lot of confidence in himself, perhaps a little too much, which ultimately led to his demise. 

Met a grisly death at the hands of unknown perpetrators but it was at least obvious that he had been killed by the very criminal organizations he sought to expose. His corpse was left (somewhat) intact as an subliminal warning but ended up going missing after a period of time.

Trifoli

Parado’s girlfriend, who works as a pharmacist. A very bitter individual, especially following Parado’s death. While she directs some of her anger and resentment towards Wilhelm, she cannot bring herself to blame him and assists him however way she can. One of the few people Wilhelm trusts and receives support from. 

However, Trifoli is paranoid that she’ll be targeted by the criminal organizations because of her practice with medicine and association with Parado and Wilhelm. She’s already had unfortunate run-ins with thugs who may or may not be affiliated with the crime families.

She won’t sit idly for any longer, however. She has a personal score to settle with the criminal organizations, beyond just exacting revenge for Parado’s death…

Rche

The next-in-line successor of one of the criminal families. Despite his age, he’s proven to be a competent, capable crime boss and quickly overtook his own parents in gaining recognition and notoriety. He’s very cruel and manipulative, enjoying his control over all sorts of criminal establishments in the city. He seeks to assert his dominance, ensuring that everything goes exactly as he plans. 

And because he has a very capable bodyguard (Saruis) and personal maid (Beridzebeth), he’s practically untouchable.

Furthermore, there’s been talk of an immortality elixir that Rche has shown great interest in…

10. which muse is the most fun to write for?

Honestly, I’d say Gerhard. It’s fun to roleplay a bratty kid who likes to mess around with other people. 

13. what’s a weird headcanon you have for each of your muses?

…What’s considered weird? I don’t really know, so these will probably just end up being ‘normal’ headcanons.

Wilhelm - He used to be terrible at dancing, to the point where he would actively avoid invitations to dance at any ballroom events. It doesn’t help that he’s actually kind of awkward when it comes to intimacy.

Jack - As much as Jack hates formal wear, mostly because of how uncomfortable it is, he doesn’t mind cleaning himself up every now and then. He can’t get used to looking like a “proper gentleman” and he definitely won’t adopt it as a permanent look but he will admit, he kind of likes it. 

Gerhard - Gerhard is the type of person who’d mistake wasabi for green tea ice cream and eat it all in one bite. Nowadays, he sneaks wasabi into green tea ice cream so other people will suffer too. 

Zizz - His head and his body are able to act separately from each other, though his head doesn’t really have much range of motion and he’s essentially helpless if his head is totally separated from his body. Wilhelm likes to take advantage of this. 

Charlotte - Charlotte loves music and while she prefers dancing to it, she will occasionally make an attempt to play an instrument, though with little success due to her small stature. It’s for this reason that Zizz has given her a small piano, since it’s her favorite instrument.  

Roki - Roki’s singing voice is similar to Akino’s. I’ve drawn direct inspiration from Akino’s singing to imagine Roki’s own voice. Sayaka Ohara’s voice is also another source of inspiration (Beatrice from Umineko no Naku Koro ni in particular). Roki’s voice falls somewhere in-between, if an amalgamation of voices is possible. 

Baum - Because of his… creative imagination, he has a lot of weird euphemisms for things. For instance, blood and gore, to him, is “strawberry jam”.   

Ikkei - Perhaps due to his sensitivity to the paranormal, he’s encountered a lot of supernatural entities, either befriending them or fleeing for his life. He’s acquaintances with a lot of the Asaki characters like Ichi no Myou and Hoshi no Hito.

2st - Star Khamen, the character from KHAMEN BREAK, is a distant ancestor of his and 2st himself is noted to bear a slight resemblance to him, hence why 2st was casted to portray Star Khamen in a modern-day film about the legendary rogue. 

Soul - He has a significant following on various social media and his presence on the internet ranges from being a serious programmer who participates in lengthy forum discussions to being a total memelord who shitposts everywhere.

Rain - After it’s rained, if there are still puddles on the ground, Rain will go out of his way to lightly hop into each one, as if he were playing hopscotch. It brings him comfort. He won’t do this in front of anyone, out of embarrassment. His other personality, however, will gleefully leap into puddles without a care, even if it splashes other people. 

Hiiro - Hiiro’s a very big eater, rivaling Rasis. When his regular meals aren’t enough, he’s taken to eating stuff like CalorieMate to sustain himself ( and the organism living inside of him) and meet his ( and the organism’s ) nutritional needs.

Rche - Rche has no qualms over consuming goat meat, despite being able to transform into a goat himself. He won’t deny that it could technically be cannibalism, but he doesn’t care.

Parado - He enjoys making card castles to test just how meticulous he can be and the largest structure he’s ever made ended up being 50 ft long, 20 ft high and 10 ft wide. He was so proud of it that he used magic to preserve it, because he couldn’t let all that effort go to waste.

Trifolie - If you manage to piss her off enough, she’ll threaten to feed you to a carnivorous plant. Those who thought she was bluffing (because carnivorous plants are supposed to be fairly harmless to large organisms, right? Right?) were in for a nasty surprise.
