vague disconnected ideas about venom noir that have been floating around my head for like, ever, that i havent been able to piece into an actual cohesive noir AU take on venom:

eddie is a muckraker investigating corporate negligence and economic inequality a la the great depression

because of this, he and aunt may are besties yet again just like in 616. because aunt may noir is a socialist <3 he rolls in her circles

if venom 616 was originally presented as an edgy take on spiderman, and spiderman noir literally exists to be an edgy take on spiderman, then i think it would be funny if venom noir was a lighter take on 616

particularly, spiderman noir is villainized by by the people whereas spiderman 616 is a hero; venom 616 is villainized by the people, so what if venom noir was regarded as a hero?

let’s put a particular spin on this too because aunt may noir hates spiderman noir, in line with how the rest of the city views him; so what if aunt may, and the rest of the city, viewed venom noir positively?

dont know how attached i am to this whole idea due to how like, essential to Venom it is to start out as a villain, but whatevs, i do still like the idea i just am not sure if i want it in the final Ideal Version of Venom Noir ive been trying to spin

particularly because like how do i make a noir version of venom without the essential building blocks of venom’s origin story a la eddie being suicidal and wanting to kill spiderman out of a misplaced sense of injustice and entitlement. i need eddie to be a freak. uncertain how to balance that with venom being regarded as a hero more than spiderman in this universe

anyway onto the symbiote now

when reading Who Goes There? by john campbell last week or so i was really trying to a spin a The Thing take on venom and then it hit me. who goes there was published in like, 1937 or 1938 or whatever. that places it a few years after the depression proper but its enough to where i feel like i can take artistic liberty and push it a bit earlier and use it as inspiration for the symbiote’s origin on 1930s earth

so. symbiote is in antarctica. a research expedition uncovers it but instead of going full murderous Thing mode it just casually hitches a ride with its host and is brought back to the US with no problem. or maybe they put it in one of those fucking green test tubes as always and willingly bring it back to the US. i dont know. but its discovered in antarctica and does not go full thing mode but is instead semi peacefully brought back to america

somehow it and eddie find each other

conundrum: what would be the noir equivalent of the sin eater fiasco that would eventually lead to eddie being suicidal in a church where symby found him. because *miguel o’hara in atsv voice* that is a Canon Event to me and i need it preserved somehow

bonus points for preserving symby’s grudge against spiderman too

One will do. I’m afraid I’ll burn out if I try to ramble about all of my AUs in one post so thank you for the consideration, hahaha. 

I’ve been thinking a lot about the Noir AU we came up with though, so I’ll be discussing that one. I’ll be including Yuli in this, if you don’t mind.

I’m honestly not familiar with the noir genre so chances are I’ll be taking plenty of creative liberties, drawing inspiration from many different sources which may or may not even be relevant to noir. If anything, I’d say this is just crime fiction, generally speaking. 

Disclaimer: I’m very bad at world building, especially with AUs that pertain to a specific genre, so please bear with me. 

I’m not going to base this entirely in reality. Loosely, but that’s about it. I’d rather refrain from using real-life locations and real-life events, just out of personal preference. Yes, I know I use real-life stuff in my regular headcanons but give me a break.

So, we’ll start off with an urban setting. My mind goes to New York City, namely Manhattan around the early to mid 1900s. Probably leaning towards the mid 1900s, considering that film noir is associated with the 40s and 50s. 

Overall, the mood/tone is very pessimistic, because that’s more or less what the film noir genre seems to encompass. Corruption and organized crime are prominent in the city and it seems as if those groups, particularly the criminal organizations, have the most power and influence.

And now a very basic run-down of the characters involved in this AU. Not every detail is fleshed out, as I’m still developing them. Details are subject to and likely to change at any time. Feel free to contribute any ideas, if you’d like, especially for Yuli’s involvement in the AU or any of your other muses for that matter. 

Wilhelm

Private investigator. Probably a war veteran, given that post-war themes are common in film noir, so he’s struggling with some form of post-traumatic stress disorder. Smokes and drinks to alleviate the stress from his line of work and generally to cope emotionally and mentally. 

Has a dead wife, because of course he does, and an estranged son, because of course he does. Has a dead personal assistant/best friend too. Otherwise, he doesn’t have any close relatives or even anyone he can really call a close friend, for that matter. Not much emotional support there, unfortunately.

But all in all, he’s really not a bad guy. He may be a crestfallen, pessmistic man struggling with substance abuse but he genuinely wants to expose the corruption in the city and restore some semblance of peace and stability. He’s willing to put in the work and effort to do so, since the city needs that more than anything, more than ever before. 

Charlotte

Popular singer and dancer who performed at various venues. She was well-liked for her voice but she was adored for her beauty and personality. Most of her songs were very hopeful and uplifting in nature, since she performed with the intention of bolstering people’s spirits in mind. She was very much a philanthropic, passionate woman. 

Charlotte and Wilhelm were married and had a child, though Charlotte died under mysterious circumstances. Wilhelm’s still trying to figure out how she died but he fears that it’s because she was a prominent public figure but she was involved with Wilhelm, who was in turn involved in the criminal activity of the city. 

Despite being deceased, she still serves as a primary inspiration for Wilhelm. Her ideals are what motivated Wilhelm to do his line of work in the first place. It’s safe to say that she was his ‘light’ in the midst of a such a bleak, dark world. I know the entire ‘deceased wife’ trope is overdone but look, I don’t care. 

Zizz

A relative of Charlotte’s, though I don’t really know what the exact relation is. Heck, maybe he’s just a close friend. He’s several years older than her, however, and was very protective of her. When she died, he was devastated and blamed Wilhelm for her death. He never liked Wilhelm to begin with, so this just gave him another reason to hate him. He’s very condescending and constantly belittles Wilhelm out of spite, all while reminding him of his failures. 

While he’s a manipulative bastard, Zizz does hate corruption as much as Wilhelm does. He’d be more willing to cooperate with Wilhelm if it weren’t for the fact that he hates Wilhelm. However, he does occasionally, very reluctantly, offer Wilhelm valuable leads and information. Of course, he’ll do it in a very condescending manner but he’ll swallow his pride, even for a moment, to ensure that Wilhelm does his job instead of wallowing in self-pity and self-loathing. 

Yuli

Wilhelm and Charlotte’s son, though he’s currently living with Zizz, who is more or less his guardian after Zizz pulled some strings (hue) to take custody of him from Wilhelm. Zizz loves him dearly, though he cannot stand the fact that he bears a strong resemblance to not only Charlotte, but Wilhelm. As such, Zizz often makes him wear a mask at home. 

He’s also a performer, as talented of a singer as his mother was. As such, he’s regarded as her successor and is well-liked by the audiences. However, because of his sheltered lifestyle, Yuli is only somewhat aware of the corruption in the city. Zizz would rather keep Yuli safe and out of harm’s way, since he believes that Charlotte met her demise because of her association with Wilhelm.

It doesn’t stop Yuli from being curious and wanting to look into it, however. He may be biting (hue) off more than he can chew… but even if he’s estranged from his father and was raised to loathe him, he’ll always be under Wilhelm’s watchful eye, even if he doesn’t realize this. 

Parado

Wilhelm’s assistant and best friend. A pleasant, easy-going fellow. He was very competent as Wilhelm’s assistant not only in detective work, but in many other fields and subjects in general. Had a bit of a gambling addiction, but he’d often go to gambling establishments with the purpose of exposing criminal activity while undercover. 

However, he was very much a risk-taker and had a lot of confidence in himself, perhaps a little too much, which ultimately led to his demise. 

Met a grisly death at the hands of unknown perpetrators but it was at least obvious that he had been killed by the very criminal organizations he sought to expose. His corpse was left (somewhat) intact as an subliminal warning but ended up going missing after a period of time.

Trifoli

Parado’s girlfriend, who works as a pharmacist. A very bitter individual, especially following Parado’s death. While she directs some of her anger and resentment towards Wilhelm, she cannot bring herself to blame him and assists him however way she can. One of the few people Wilhelm trusts and receives support from. 

However, Trifoli is paranoid that she’ll be targeted by the criminal organizations because of her practice with medicine and association with Parado and Wilhelm. She’s already had unfortunate run-ins with thugs who may or may not be affiliated with the crime families.

She won’t sit idly for any longer, however. She has a personal score to settle with the criminal organizations, beyond just exacting revenge for Parado’s death…

Rche

The next-in-line successor of one of the criminal families. Despite his age, he’s proven to be a competent, capable crime boss and quickly overtook his own parents in gaining recognition and notoriety. He’s very cruel and manipulative, enjoying his control over all sorts of criminal establishments in the city. He seeks to assert his dominance, ensuring that everything goes exactly as he plans. 

And because he has a very capable bodyguard (Saruis) and personal maid (Beridzebeth), he’s practically untouchable.

Furthermore, there’s been talk of an immortality elixir that Rche has shown great interest in…

If your WIP was a video game, what kind of game would it be?

The Ruby Falls A story-mode First-Person Shooter (rather than the open world RPG it's based on), due to the very linear storyline. But there would be easter eggs, achievements and odd little things to collect (you'd have an achievement for collecting food and filling the Land Rover cupboards, for example)

What Alexis Did Next A JRPG - as in, limited world RPG, with an isometric top-down view, and an ability to choose who's in your party at any given time.

The Skinwalker & Igazinyoka An FPS, but in the style of LA Noire or Half-Life 2, where you have lots of dialogue options and kinda quick-time events.

FF/Tian Modern-ish AU & Elo Investigations An Open World Shooter, kind of like GTA and Saints Row V, where you're limited to one city but you can run around and explore or do side quests in between the main quest.

Even More Carinette AU Ideas Because I Have Nothing Better to Do Right Now

I really don't know why I have so many ideas for a crack AU of all things, and yet, here we are.

Since she spends a lot of time as one, Marinette knows a lot about cars. Some of her classmates say that if she wasn't so into fashion, she'd be a great mechanic.

Marinette has a built in GPS to use whenever she gets lost.

Her subwoofers accidentally go off at times while she's talking, making her shout her sentences.

While Rose loves the shade of pink Marinette's car form is, Juleka is happy they have a getaway car for when she kidnaps Kagami. But she's just joking... right?

Kagami is one of the few people confused as to why Marinette can do this. She also wonders if her self-driving car can transform like Marinette.

Alix offers to give Marinette a new paint job, but Marinette isn't sure what would happen if she transformed back after something like that. It's also why she doesn't want to get a bumper sticker.

Sometimes Marinette will help Luka with his deliveries, mostly so they have an excuse to spend time together. Somehow, she still manages to blush around him in the form of her headlights going off when Luka compliments her.

While most of Marinette's family is okay with her car form, Rolland isn't. Not because he thinks it's unnatural, but because he thinks the model should be older.

Gina also enjoys racing her on her motorcycle.

Lila naturally tries to ride off Marinette's popularity by claiming to have similar powers.

She puts a speaker on a random car and starts talking from a distance, making the others believe she's a car too. She had no idea that car was actually Ms. Bustier's.

Ladybug's car form also changes when using other Miraculous.

As Lady Noire, she can fire her Cataclysm out of her tailpipe.

As Multimouse, she can transform into several toy cars.

As Dragon Bug, she can spray water from her windshield wipers, blow air out of her tailpipe, and shoot lightning from her radio antennae.

Several Akuma battles are naturally different from canon as a result.

When Chloe becomes Antibug, she can transform into a car as well. After she was defeated, Chloe had the taste of motor oil in her mouth for a week.

Ladybug is basically forced to play bait by letting Gigantitan play with her like a toy. After the fight, her legs ached like crazy.

During the events of Robostus, Ladybug falls under the control of the titular Akuma while in car mode, forcing Cat Noir to wing it while trying not to get run over.

Instead of using her Lucky Charm to summon a random car, Ladybug just traps Syren in her trunk.

When she gets zapped by Oblivio, Marinette naturally freaks out after finding out she can transform into a car. It's important to note that this is the only time she actually reacts this way except for the first time. Even then, she mostly accepted it.

If anyone has any other headcanons and stuff like that for this AU, I'm open to it. I actually might write a short story about this.

ML au: Childhood Soulmates: Volpina

-The first part of the episode is the same, the only shift is that Marinette is more concerned about the lies then jealousy. But instead of stalking mode decides to get a direct read on Lila. Her years with Adrien made her more willing to give someone the benefit of the doubt.

-She doesn’t spy on Adrien in the library, she actually greets him and Lila. Lila noticed how Adrien was so comfortable with Marinette. Lila notices the book Adrien had. And pulls it out to look at. Lila makes note that Adrien likes heroes, that’s how she will pull ahead of Marinette.

-Marinette notices that Lila snuck Adrien’s book into her bag when Adrien left.

-Marinette pursues because of Tikki’s suggestion.

-She sees her plan.

-Adrien had agreed to meet with Lila in the Park because she had something ‘secret’ to tell him.

-Marinette confronts Lila, telling Adrien that she saw her buy that necklace. Tikki snagging the book while their distracted.

-Lila was shocked and claimed it was a lie.

-Adrien naturally believed Marinette, and asks Lila when she ‘Inherited’ the necklace.

-Lila lies about it, but then Marinette asks Lila to check her pocket.

-The receipt for the necklace.

-Lila was humiliated and leaves.

-Adrien was surprised by the event. Adrien asks Marinette how she knew that.

-Marinette confesses that something felt off about her so she followed, and that she knows it wasn’t right.

-Adrien tells her that it’s okay, he knows she was doing it to protect him.

-“Good to know my future wife is looking out for me.”

-Mari blushes and tells him to knock it off.

-Volpina happens but no hatred of Ladybug.

-Volpina does her fake trick. Chat noir is more receptive to Ladybug’s suspicions.

-Volpina is bested in a similar manner, but Lila isn’t mad at ladybug and there is no apology scene.

-Hawkmoth does note that Lila is still angry with Marinette, but that is not of use to him.

-Marinette brings the book to Fu as per Tikki’s request.

Marching Band AU

@elsie-writes inspired me, so here's MORE (didn't want to double the length of their post):

-Penny is saxophone section leader, and Riz absolutely chose the sax and marching band because of her. That, and so he could learn gritty film noir songs

-Riz plays alto sax and is tiny enough his first year that he has to march with a harness and not a neckstrap (harnesses distribute the weight of the instrument across your shoulders and back, neckstraps have it all resting on your neck- really, a saxophone's weight when you march is mostly held up by your right arm, with the sax resting on your right thumb.)

-Riz and Penny get super competitive over who has the worst tan lines. They never take off their neckstraps or gloves and they wear mid calf socks with shorts. Sklonda begs them both to reapply their sunscreen throughout the day.

-Ragh plays tuba!! And he makes walking around with a full tuba on his shoulder look easy.

-Adaine plays mello. Aelwyn is an orchestral french horn player, Adaine has been taking french horn lessons for years. Their parents heard it was the most difficult brass to play. Adaine bombed her youth orchestra audition, saw a notice for marching band, and figured it was better than nothing. First rehearsal, the band director signed her out a mellophone (french horn equivalent in marching band, looks like a big trumpet). She's never looked back, and she is thriving being able to pour her air into playing out loud and proud on an outdoor field. Adaine starts off with a horrible horn angle but eventually is one of the most solid members in the band. (That's how Adaine gets strong!)

-Gorgug has an out of the full-band physical warmup to tune the drums. Picture a tall teenager surrounded by a circle of drums of all shapes and sizes. He hits one a few times, looks thoughtfully, continues hitting it and turns some imperceptible screw, hits the drum at the same time as the drum next to it, shakes his head, adjusts the screw and continues on to the next drum. If anyone's instrument breaks, they take it straight to him.

-Gorgug helps tape the field. He's always there early because he and Zelda carpool and if he's there then he's helping the drum major team.

-Fabian has been known to show up with coffee for his whole section on mornings when they're loading the buses for parades especially early

-they only do trumpet duets in their shows, never solos, because whenever they tried Fig and Fabian got super competitive and showed off a ton in their solo auditions and then separately went to the band director to forfeit and begged them to give it to the other person because they've been working so hard and they really deserve it.

-Gorthalax drives the equipment trailer

-field show themes include "Dragon's Curse" and "Journey Through the Nightmare Forest"

-Ostentatia Wallace and Sam Nightingale are the heads of band council- they throw the best bonding events and resolutely turn down Fig and Kristen's requests for thongs as bandwear every. single. year. PLEASE stop submitting that, there are children present. (They pretend they mean toe thongs for the winterguard, but no one here was born yesterday.)

-they all sleep in a school gym for a week when the band is out of town every summer and Fabian and Ragh get tents banned for everyone

-Fig and Adaine and Kristen and Tracker hypothetically all have their own beds, but what they really have is a shared air mattress island where they all snuggle

-The chaperones are always weary when they figure out room assignment requests for band camp. People who want to room with a friend or two aren't usually a problem. Seven best friends usually are, especially when the eighth person on their rooming request is Tracker, and they've already made covert plans that she and Kristen are going to alternate whose room they stay in each night.

-guard meetings run late after every rehearsal and they're the last ones in the block before parades because Kristen gives long rambling pep-talks (?) reminders (?)

-Fig and Fabian are in crisis mode over how to get Torek, their trumpet first year who is way cooler than them and already super good at marching somehow, to respect them

-Zelda can go down the horn line (literally you put all of your instruments on the ground in a line, sorted by section) and list off who every single instrument belongs to

-Gorgug and Zelda sit together on the bus to performances and watch DCI shows and discuss score increases between competitions in great detail (part of the reason Zelda learned to spin was because she can't join drum corps on flute)

-Tracker and Ragh are bassline buddies and bonded because tubas and bari saxes play a lot of the same parts and march near each other in field shows

-Kristen's little brothers were the banner carriers for a while (usually non-band members, they walk at the front of the band in parades and carry a banner with the band's logo)

(Band is great and I don't talk about it enough! I did 5 years, and spent 2 as saxophone section leader. Or, as I liked to call it, "saxtion leader.")

Marinette is not a Bad Designer

Alright… I’ve seen one-too many bitter posts by fans of Miraculous Ladybug disappointed by Marinette’s deep-down costume choice to not put my thoughts on the matter forward.

When considering a design in textiles, we are taught to critically observe it through two lenses: functional and aesthetic. Simply put: how it serves its purpose and its overall appearance (usually how visually appealing it is). Despite often clashing and getting in the way of one-another, they sometimes are easier to see as concepts that blend into one another. In water colour, if you paint red and blue next to each other, they are going mix to create purple. (I blather when I explain these concepts, so if you wish to get to the analysis of Marinette and Adrien’s designs skip ahead to ***)

As an example for this outlook, I’ll use a cushion on a lounge. Its functions are to provide lumbar support; help maintain good posture; filling the gaps of a comfortable sitting space the lounge may have missed; to last continuous uses; and to complement and accentuate the design of the lounge. This means function will control the shape, size, density, and – to a degree – the fabric choices such as category and type (e.g. woven and cotton respectively) of the cushion, and provide a starting point for the aesthetics via the lounge’s aesthetics. The cushion’s aesthetic purposes on a plain lounge are to create interesting and appealing focal points; on a patterned lounge, they provide plain yet grounding points to bring focus and calm to an otherwise busy design. Aesthetics therefore controls the shape, fabric type and pattern (e.g. cotton or plush, and floral respectively), and notions such as piping and buttons. I have most likely missed a plethora of points, but I am aware I am usually long winded and am an amateur.

Of course, some designs need to heavily lean to one side of planning. A wall-hanging is a piece of art using textiles mediums; therefore it will have dependence on aesthetics planning to be successful. Its function is simply to look good. A tent taken on a camping trip, however, is going to be all purpose. It wants to keep you safe from the elements, and not take up too much room in your car or weight in your backpack. If the tent is made from chiffon, with bolts of cloth dedicated to frills and decorative drapes, it will be bulky; be even more difficult to stuff into its bag than your sleeping-bag; tear easily on the first bit of nature it comes in contact with; and metaphorically take on the properties of fairy-floss when it rains, not only drenching you, but keeping you wet and trapped as the delicate and light fabric becomes heavy and collapses on top of you and whatever unfortunate soul tried to foolishly take refuge in it. One may even say its aesthetic purpose it to look durable. The only acceptation I can think of is a camouflage design, where a specific pattern and frills that mimic leaves are necessary.

Through this, I have hopefully illustrated that the relationship between function and aesthetics is one of give and take. Adrien does not give a damn about this. His father may be a famous designer, and whether or not he has shared a few tips of the trade, this boy grew up on manga. He is going to hit this super-hero costume with as much magic-girl that his kawaii desu ne heart possesses. He’s got cuffs; a long-ass tail that has its own pose in the transformation sequence; paw prints on the boots; unnecessary seams and piping; morphed pupils (that may be an automatic change to give him night-vision); and a big bell that rings, for crying out loud. The only functions I can see are steel-caps, pockets, removability of the tail, and claws. Even then I suspect these were mainly chosen for the aesthetics. Even his seams are what you would call aesthetic seams. It’s a suit made from magic. You don’t need seams.

Marinette, on the other hand, is focused on the function of this being a superhero costume. She knows she will be going into battle. Taking leaf out of Edna Mode’s book and then the whole library, she forgoes the iconic billowing cape and anything else that would hinder or even put her in danger her while fighting. Seams, zipper tags, cuffs, tails, and bells can be exploited by getting grabbed by a villain or accidentally caught on an edge or pointy debris while dodging or escaping. She only has an allusion to antenna as ribbons rather long poles sticking out of her head will basically become handles for whomever she is fighting. The only fault I can see is keeping her pigtails (*SPOILER* which we know she can change from the leak of Kitty Noir *SPOILER OVER*). Even then they may serve to create some kind of barrier from the back for her miraculous. She doesn’t need such things as steel caps because her magical fabric is already all the armour she needs.

I’ve had fun creating alternative costumes for Marinette. With function in mind, and wanting to reference the beetle, I added plate armour to the front to mimic the underside of the ladybird; angled spikes on the arms and legs like many beetles have to catch blades and cause damage; white spots like on their head on a black helmet that conceals her identity better; and the red and black shell only as a detachable shield on the back. Apart from being a design more appropriate for an AU, I forgot one important thing that all these features I wanted as tributes to the source material took away. Marinette knew that a superhero needs to be recognisable. Hence, this is the goal of the aesthetics.

The simplicity of the fabric’s pattern is to be iconic. What’s the most salient part of a ladybird? The black spots on their red shell. What pattern has she chosen? Exactly that. She is supposed to be a hero of the people. Someone every citizen can recognise as she swings by so fast she’s a blur. Parisians are going to be attacked so often that the red with black polka-dots needs to inspire feelings of safety, so that when they see her they don’t instantly think she’s akuma they need to seek shelter from. When she rescues terrified and flustered citizens, or toddlers crying for their mother, she needs to be recognised immediately; to create a focus point for the panicked mind; and to inspire peace and a sense that it will all be okay now that she’s here. A plain pattern in bold colours is the easiest way to do this. Adrien has even done this with the almost unanimously black outfit and silhouette alluding to a cat with the ears and tail. Her simplicity is necessary BOTH functionally and aesthetically.

In the event they swap kwamiis, they retain their design philosophies, and yet are influenced by someone they love and care about’s take on it. They need to hold onto the established iconic design the other has come up with, yet express they are someone else with their own unique take on it. Adrien keeps the iconic spots as the main feature, but adds panels of black to accentuate the pattern; give a nod to the actual ratio of black to spots on the ladybird; suggest armour; and to add depth and accentuate muscle anatomy. Marinette turns the bells and whistles into lines on the fabric to remove the danger of them while honouring them. Her plat imitates a tail instead of a more-easily-grappled belt and the collar tells of her Chinese heritage. In the event of the mouse fiasco, she needs to alter her design philosophy from hero to “omg please don’t find out I’m Ladybug”. Her colours are the usual palette she wears to inspire Marinette thoughts for Chat; her hair resembles mouse ears and are definitely and defiantly not Ladybug’s piggy tails; and her stripes and spikes, and tail create the farce that she is an inexperienced hero by forgoing the ungrabblable and to be easily recognised as the animal of their miraculous holder attitude Ladybug adopts.

Being a designer isn’t just “Ima add frills for days cuz that shit’s tight”; knowing that busy patterns next to each other clash; making things look visually appealing or stunning; or even knowing what’s hot this season. Il délivre 537 kW (730 ch) à 6 700-6 900 tr/min et fournit un couple maxi de 800 Nm à 2 000-6 000 tr/min. Les nouveaux arbres à cames et collecteurs d’échappement sont adaptés à la nouvelle séquence d’allumage et améliorent encore le renouvellement des gaz.

Les deux turbocompresseurs Twin-Scroll sont montés sur roulements sur le modèle de pointe de l’AMG GT Coupé quatre portes pour une réactivité encore optimisée. Sur le modèle Black Series, les compresseurs sont cependant dotés de roues élargies de manière à acheminer au total 1 100 kg d’air par heure.

A titre de comparaison, le débit est de 900 kg/h sur l’AMG GT R. Le régime maximal en continu de 7 000 tr/min n’est pas critique, à partir de 7 200 tr/min, le régime est bridé. Et les refroidisseurs d’air de suralimentation surdimensionnés veillent à ce que la température de l’air de suralimentation reste dans la meilleure plage possible.

difficile à proprement décrire l'univers sonore de cet énigmatique personnage : il s'agirait d'une sorte de fausse pop savamment structurée et surtout déstructurée, pleine de hachures, d'à-coups et de faux-fuyants que l'homme bâtit à l'aide d'un attirail composé principalement d'une guitare électrique, d'un sampler et de moult pédales d'effets, ses incantations vocales destinées à servir de liant pour faire  tenir debout le fragile édifice toujours sur le point de s'écrouler.

* A noter que la guitare électrique entre ses mains sonne très rarement comme telle - ce qui constitue le fil rouge / thématique conducteur et point commun entre les trois guitaristes représentés ce soir.

Exhibition « Mahatma Gandhi, an immigrant » at the Immigration Museum

1-A « digital interactive exhibition »

I visited this exhibition on Tuesday 22nd of May. It’s a small exhibition, in just one room, inside the the permanent exhibition space. As it has been advertised as “digital interactive”, I was curious to discover the digital displays. Unfortunately, I have been disappointed, the volume of the videos was too low and we couldn’t control it, the sound was also of poor quality and there were no subtitles to help understanding. I wasn’t able to understand anything. Concerning the interactivity, there were two displays at the end of the exhibition. The first one offers the opportunity to take a selfie with Gandhi and the second invites us to film ourselves in order to leave a public message/opinion. As I am not interested at all in the “selfie trend” and too shy to speak publicly I didn’t use any of them. I have decided to focus all my attention on printed texts panels and on the beautiful black and white archives pictures.

2-A Black and White, sober, minimalist and efficient display

I have really appreciated the design of the exhibition with monumental archives pictures and quotes (quotes of Gandhi and famous politicians he inspired -Barack Obama, Martin Luther King-). « A man is but a product of his thoughts. 3-An exhibition that explains why Gandhi’s immigration awaken his social and political engagement

The exhibition focuses on the political engagement of Gandhi. It explains how his immigration to London and to South Africa permitted his social and political awakening. Famous for being the artisan of India Independency, we often ignore that he defended also the rights of Indians in South Africa before coming back to India. Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948) migrated to London when he was 19 years old (in 1888) to study law and become barrister. He came back briefly to India before he found a job in South Africa. He immigrated there in 1893, he was then 21 years old. He has been victim of racial discrimination against Indians since his first year in this country. The event that awoken his political engagement happened in 1893. During the night of the 7th of June, as he was travelling by train, he refused to leave his compartment to let it to a white man because he bought a first class ticket and was in his right to seat there. The controllers forced him to go out of the compartment and he had to get off the train at the next station at Pietermaritz-burg. Since this event, Gandhi started his « passive resistance » that he prefers call « Satyagraha » (« sat » means « truth » and “graha” means « polite insistence, firmness »), as the word “passive” isn’t really adequate. Gandhi decided to develop a community in South Africa to defend Indians rights, he published a newspaper to diffuse his ideas. In 1915, Gandhi came back to India. At that time, people began to call him « Mahatma » Gandhi, which means « The Great Soul ». Since 1917, Gandhi encouraged Indians to wear only clothes weaved in India. He decided to wear a dhoti (a traditionnal indian pant) and a khadi (indian tunic). He also used the mechanical weaving loom to create his own clothes. The weaving loom and the traditional Indian clothes were strong symbols of his reject of Occidental Industry and of his support for the poor Indian population. In 1947, Gandhi obtained India Independance. Unfortunately, he didn’t have much time to enjoy it as he was killed by Nathuram Godse, by 3 bullets in the chest on the 30th of January 1848, around 5pm. This tragic event happened as he was on his way to say a public prayer. Gandhi, who has been fighting without violence all his life, hasn’t been able to escape others’ violence. If we can kill a man, we can’t kill an idea and Gandhi continues spreading his ideas from generation to generation. As he affirmed himself “My life is my message” and he leaves behind him an inestimable ideological heritage for India and for all the world. As Martin Luther King said « India is the only country where I go as a pilgrim and not as a simple visitor. »

L’exposition « Mahatma Gandhi, un immigré » au Musée de l’Immigration de Melbourne

1-Une exposition « interactive et digitale »

J’ai visité cette exposition l’après-midi du mardi 22 mai. C’est une petite exposition, contenue dans une seule salle au milieu de l’exposition permanente. Présentée comme exposition « interactive et digitale », j’étais assez curieuse de découvrir les dispositifs numériques. Malheureusement, j’ai été assez déçue, le volume sonore des vidéos est trop bas et non réglable, le son est de mauvaise qualité et il n’y a aucun sous-titre pour aider à la compréhension donc je n’ai pas pu profiter de leur contenu. Au niveau de l’interactivité, il y a deux bornes interactives à la fin du parcours d’exposition. La première invite le visiteur à faire un « selfie » avec Gandhi devant un mur vert et la deuxième invite à laisser un message vidéo public. N’étant pas intéressée par la mode des « selfies » et étant un peu trop timide pour m’exprimer publiquement je n’ai utilisé aucune de ses bornes interactives. J’ai donc concentré toute mon attention sur les panneaux de textes, riches d’enseignement et les photographies d’archives qui étaient superbes.

2-Une scénographie en Noir et Blanc sobre, épurée et efficace

J’ai beaucoup apprécié la mise en scène et le design soigné de l’exposition avec des photos de Gandhi monumentales en noir et blanc ainsi que des citations de Gandhi et de personnes célèbres qu’il a inspirées comme Barack Obama, Martin Luther King. « J’ai toujours trouvé de l’inspiration dans la vie de Gandhi et dans sa leçon simple et profonde qui est d’être le changement que l’on souhaite dans le monde. » Barack Obama « I’ve always found inspiration in the life of Gandhi and his simple and profound lesson to be the change we seek in the world.” Barack Obama “Un homme n’est d’autre que le produit de ses pensées. 3-Une exposition qui explique pourquoi l’immigration de Gandhi a éveillé son engagement social et politique

L’exposition se focalise sur l’engagement politique de Gandhi. Elle explique en quoi son immigration à Londres puis en Afrique du Sud ont permis son éveil social et politique. Quick chitchat guys, did you watch the royal wedding yesterday? What were your highlights from the event?

☆ Mine was just seeing the Prince of Wales walk down the Duchess of Sussex aka Meghan Markle to the altar. Since Prince Charles has no biological daughter and really wanted one(throwback to his reaction when our boy Harry was born) I felt he finally ticked that off his bucketlist last night.

☆ I LOVE her Stella McCartney dress.

☆ I loved it when they had their first official kiss.

☆ Just watching how happy Meghan's mother was.

Back to our post. The hack I'm sharing today will save you from the humiliation of the panty line if you wear smart trousers aka tailored pants/trousers. 

I know some people don't bother wearing tailored pants/trousers because it's not as thick as denim. And yes, some people wear thongs to avoid this, while others don't find them comfortable. I fall into the category of ladies who don't wear thongs, and I don't judge those who wear them; to each her own. I we're both in the same category, tailored trousers can be a nightmare. From culottes to ankle length tailored trousers, whether they're loose or fitted they are a sight to behold and can be very schick when worn to the office.

The first step to this hack Is to choose a pant that isn't too fitted or tight.

The second step is where the hack comes in. Panty hose/stockings aka tights! I know! I would have never guessed too. If you've followed me from my days at iblogwithgrace, you definitely know how much I love experimenting. Once it pops up in my head, I'm trying it! Thank God for his Holy Spirit that keeps guiding me, and comforting me when these experiments work, and when they go wrong(by the way, today is Pentecost Sunday)!

The hack is to wear the panty hose/stockings aka tights after you wear your panties and before you wear your tailored trousers.

The first time I experimented this hack, I wasn't sure it was going to work and I was still developing it. See the picture below.

When I got home, I decided to cut away everything below the ankle. 

You can use any colour of panty hose/stockings aka tights as long as your trousers are not white coloured, for that I recommend you wear black stockings or panty hose. I used a brown, earthy tone colour of tights aka panty hose/stockings. 

When wearing tailored, you should stay away from tight bodysuits and mid thigh shorts, because these can give those unwanted marks and circumference like lines around your thighs and butt after you put on your trousers.

Get a good panty hose/stocking aka tights, I recommend ones that are a teeny bit thick and firm. Cut away the ankle to foot area and wear gently. Also, I discovered that if the tights tear, or have a significant hole, your flesh will peek out of it(it's something best imagined, and very unflattering) when you put on your tailored trousers.

Final step, now that you've cut out the ankle to foot area and gently worn your tights aka panty hose/stockings, put on your tailored trousers and slay all day long sunshine!

Retour à notre message. Le hack que je partage aujourd'hui vous sauvera de l'humiliation de la ligne de culotte si vous portez un pantalon intelligent alias tailleur pantalon / pantalon. Je sais que certaines personnes ne prennent pas la peine de porter des pantalons / pantalons taillés, car ils ne sont pas aussi épais que le denim. Et oui, certaines personnes portent des lanières pour éviter cela, alors que d'autres ne les trouvent pas confortables. Je tombe dans la catégorie des dames qui ne portent pas de lanières, et je ne juge pas ceux qui les portent; à chacun son propre. Nous sommes tous les deux dans la même catégorie, un pantalon sur mesure peut être un cauchemar. Des culottes aux pantalons ajustés à la cheville, qu'ils soient amples ou ajustés, ils sont un spectacle à voir et peuvent être très schick lorsqu'ils sont portés au bureau.

La première étape de ce hack est de choisir un pantalon qui n'est pas trop ajusté ou trop serré.

La deuxième étape est l'endroit où le hack entre en jeu. Panty collants / bas collants aka! Je connais! Je n'aurais jamais deviné aussi. Si vous m'avez suivi de mes jours à iblogwithgrace, vous savez certainement combien j'aime expérimenter. Une fois qu'il apparaît dans ma tête, je l'essaie! Remerciez Dieu pour son Esprit Saint qui continue de me guider et de me réconforter quand ces expériences fonctionnent, et quand elles vont mal (en passant, c'est aujourd'hui le dimanche de la Pentecôte)!

Le hack est de porter le collant / bas collants après avoir porté votre culotte et avant de porter votre pantalon sur mesure.

La première fois que j'ai expérimenté ce hack, je n'étais pas sûr que ça allait marcher et je le développais encore. Voir l'image ci-dessous. Quand je suis rentré, j'ai décidé de couper tout ce qui se trouvait sous la cheville.

Vous pouvez utiliser n'importe quelle couleur de collants / collants aka tights tant que vos pantalons ne sont pas de couleur blanche, pour cela je vous recommande de porter des bas noirs ou des collants. Lorsque vous portez sur mesure, vous devriez rester à l'écart des combinaisons moulantes et des cuissardes, car elles peuvent donner des marques et une circonférence non désirées comme des lignes autour des cuisses et des fesses après avoir enfilé votre pantalon.

Obtenez un bon collant aka collants / collants, je recommande ceux qui sont un peu épais et ferme. Couper la cheville au pied et porter doucement. En outre, j'ai découvert que si les collants se déchirent, ou ont un trou significatif, votre chair jettera un coup d'œil (c'est quelque chose de mieux imaginé, et très peu flatteur) quand vous mettez votre pantalon sur mesure.

Dernière étape, maintenant que vous avez coupé la zone de la cheville au pied et doucement porté vos collants collants aka pantalon / bas, mettre sur votre pantalon sur mesure et tuer toute la journée ensoleillement!
