you and kimi were introduced by mutual friends, hanging out from time to time with the group

you always seemed to laugh so much together, discussing zombie apocalypse survival, different types of zombies, and even what you would do if you had to face them together!

that thought always made both of you giggle and blush, much to the amusement of your friends

“god, just go on a date already! we’re tired of your endless yapping, jeez”

and so you did

“um, well, would you uh-“ “right! mm, yeah, i’d love to go have lunch!” “-hand me my phone, well, uhh, that too!! sorry, thank you! i’ll text you the address”

you scratched your neck in embarrassment, and he hid his face in his hands

you both spoke at the same time and burst into laughter

it was easier to laugh than to speak, with all your friends around and the weight of your own undefined feelings lingering in your mind

the restaurant was nice, maybe too noce for two teenagers to have their first date and it was obvious someone was trying *really* hard

a thousand thoughts were racing through his mind: should i kiss their hand? should i wave? hug them?

it looked like he was going to shake your hand and ended up giving you an awkward side hug, getting confused with his moves...

the whole evening is filled with shy glances and occasional stuttering

it's just so hard to keep your eyes away from kimi's shining eyes you end up staring

"i'll get it, okay?" he said shyly and you blinked a few times to get back to reality

"uhh, sorry?" he titled his head forward, equally confused, he couldn't tell you were staring as he was too busy fighting his intrusive thoughts

"would it be too forward? too old-fashioned? but mom said-"

he ends up paying and you manage to stammer out a thanks and soon you're outside, trying to form a coherent sentence and say farewell

"it was really-" "i can't thank you-"

"please, you first"

you stifled a laugh and smiled awkwardly before speaking up again

“tonight was really nice and i really appreciate you for taking me out to such a nice place and uhh… i fell sorry that-“

“that it was so awkward?” he finished with a lopsided grin “yeah, im sorry too. but maybe, well, that doesn’t mean it’s completely over, right?” his voice heightened and he gesticulated a lot “i mean, i like you, like, a lot-“

“i like you too, kimi” you whispered, the confession causing both of you to blush like crazy

“really?? i mean, amazing! so does that, well, could i get another chance?”

“another chance at what?” you asked and titled your head

“at taking you out on a first date. second first date or whatever, i want it to be really perfect this time, i swear, you’ll love it this time-“

you cut him off by pressing a small kiss to his cheek

“of course, kimi. let’s just have a good time together, right?” you asked shyly

“yeah, right. whatever you like” he grinned stupidly
