Been thinking a lot recently about how William Afton definitely falls into a lot of queerphobic tropes. And how he's pretty dehumanised within the story because he does awful things. And how both of those things together feel extra icky.

I feel like Scott just gave him a bunch of things to make him feel 'creepy' and a lot of those were just him being queer or mentally ill and he's the only character who really presents that way and oh my god. He exclusivly murders CHILDREN, guys. That's TEXTBOOK gaypanic shit, guys.

I want to be able to discuss transmisogyny, both to be able to defend myself against it and to help other transfems suffering from it. But if the person talking about it goes out of their way to frame trans men as inherently more privileged than women, or dismiss transandrophobia, then- i have to be weary.

How can I trust that you're being accurate about the bigotry you experience, when you are being dismissive of the bigotry fellow trans people experience?

Truth is that transmasc people suffer a unique blend of transphobia, one that insists they are women and then enacts misogyny upon them based on that assertion. This is transandrophobia. Why shouldn't transmasc people be able to use this label to correctly identify their struggles, as we transfem people use transmisogyny to correctly identify ours?

#DISCLAIMER: I say “person” because i dont want to generalize and say “women” because there's likely non women who do this #and i add this disclaimer because ive seen a lot of trans women complaining about degenderization. so there.#a few examples i remember of this dismissal of transandrophobia was from trans women. but obv its not universal and not only transfems do i #2. i truly dont know if trans men are privileged over trans women.#but in any case its like. we're all opressed for being trans #and even within one label we are oppressed in different ways based on our appearance #what gender people assume we are #not to mention how skin color factors into this #so yeah please lets discuss transmisogyny. But lets also not dismiss other types of discrimination

Two things that exist in the same space at the same time:

Trans men, transmasculine people, and those in between by and large don't transition "just because of" misogyny and the attempt to deny our experiencess and whittle them down to a very narrow vision of transness is transphobic

Misogyny is still an axis of oppression that trans men, transmasculine people, and those in between can experience. Deny us the language to describe this helps nobody, and the implication that we must either be women to describe the bigotries we face or just shut up about them is just a defense of both misogyny and transphobia

#trans politics #trans #transgender #lgbt #lgbtq #ftm #nonbinary #in fact (if i can say it) i have experienced MORE misogyny than i did before transitioning #and that doesn't mean women 'dont have it bad' but that this is an intracommunity issue #as in: it is an issue that multiple communities must fight *together* on #if you can't even fathom that a trans guy *might* know a thing or two about misogyny you have lost the plot i think #you can be a man and experience misogyny #and the implication that you either Be A Woman or Shut Up about experiencing misogyny is so fucking twisted and frankly kind of evil #i'm not going to lie about my identity or my experiencess because it makes *you* uncomfortable #i am more interested in making it so that NOONE experiences misogyny. because bigotry is Bad no matter who it's against #and if this goal doesn't happen in my lifetime then so be it
