#Towa and Setsuna are sesskagu twins

Some little headcanons I have for the kiddos. Simply for fun and because while I despise the direction the anime took, these four had potential that was wasted.

Some brief notes: Towa and Setsuna are SessKagu twins, Rin grew up and became a healer. She later married Kohaku and they moved to the Demon Slayer village and had children.

Towa and Setsuna are Sesskagu’s only children as their birth was dangerous. But they have a big family w/ InuKag and MirSan.

Kirinmaru happened when the twins and Moroha were four and ended two years later. They have since lived in peace and just had some adventures. Zero, Rion and Riku never existed while Kirinmaru’s reason for wanting to fight was for territorial reasons.

Tuna twins first (I remember seeing this fun little nickname in the earlier episodes of YH, but can’t remember who coined it):

Towa 💖

She is kind, but is also crass. Unlike Setsuna who is reserved and tries to maintain some modesty, Towa is “Attack first, ask questions later” She also has a foul mouth because of Kagura and Inuyasha.

That usually results in Jaken yelling at her and getting smacked by Kagura.

She uses masculine pronouns and is usually assumed at first glance to be male since she prefers men’s clothing.

Gay 💖🏳️‍🌈 but still grasping who is aside from that. Being the daughter of a demon lord and also granddaughter to a former big bad really makes her question herself.

Rin is her mentor growing up and her confidant when she needs her.

As a teenager, she worked with swords. Her father, uncle and paternal grandfather did so it should work for her right?

She later settled on fans like her mother and knives.

She keeps her hair short until her twenties, growing it to her mid back. It eventually becomes wavy like Kagura’s.

The red of her eyes darkens over the years. Her eyes go from reddish-brown to magenta during her teen years before settling on the crimson hue her mother and grandfather Naraku are known for.

She strongly resembles her father when enraged: snarl and all. She even gets his glare down to the T by 17. Jaken cried himself to sleep the day he was on the end of a triple stare down from the twins and Sesshomaru.

Kagura affectionally calls her ‘spider lily’ because of her eyes.

She remains single until her 30s, through she does have lovers on and off.

The best way to sum of her and her wife’s entire relationship is essential HaruMichi from Sailor Moon except Towa winds up flustered more times than she can count during their courtship.

Setsuna 💜

Setsuna is the more polite twin. Inuyasha has stated she follows in Sesshomaru’s footsteps of being reserved.

She also follows his speech pattern of announcing herself as “This Setsuna” in an almost arrogant tone.

She was trained by Sango to fight, as was Towa.

She is asexual and aromatic. She doesn’t view love as she something she needs but acknowledges that it’s others seem to want and have. She however, enjoys being alone.

While Towa grows her hair out as an adult, Setsuna cuts her shorter and wears it in a fashion similar to her mother’s.

She and Moroha have a friendly rivalry and while she claims to hate it, she secretly enjoys when her cousin calls her ‘Setsu’.

Rin calls her Secchan.

Hisui is her brother in everything but blood. She also warns him that if he ever hurts Moroha, she won’t hesitate to hurt him.

KinGyo had a bet going on if Hisui would marry either Setsuna or Moroha. Kin’u wound up winning the bet.

She and Moroha enjoy teasing Towa when she becomes smitten with her future wife.

Sesshomaru affectionally calls her a wind spirit.

Now onto my favorite girl:

Moroha ❤️

Inuyasha dots on her. She is his first born and eldest daughter, and they always have little moments between them.

Inuyasha nuzzles her head.

Kagome taught her about herbal remedies, and she sought out Jenji when she was fourteen to learn more.

She is close with her cousins, and has a friendly rivalry with Setsuna.

Inuyasha gifted her a robe of the fire rat when she was eleven. Kagome gave her a bow and quiver a year later for her twelfth birthday.

She grew up with the MirSan brunch. KinGyo are her older sister figures while Hisui is her best friend and confidant.

She often calls him clueless when it comes to women flirting with him.

She often ignores the pain her chest when Hisui actually flirts back.

Because her life was spent in their company, she is just as mischievous as the KinGyo twins.

Kouga basically calls her his daughter, much to Inuyasha’s ire.

She has a younger brother named Hige and a sister named after her grandmother, Izayoi. Hige was born when she was 4 and Izayoi when she was 7.

While she loves slaying demons, she settled into the role of village priestess after Rin married Kohaku and Kagome settled into raising her siblings.

She and Hisui fell in love in their late teens to early twenties.

She was 19 when she got married, while Hisui was 21. They had their first child, a boy, two years later.

Moroha saved Towa’s future wife during a demon slaying mission.

She was able to meet her maternal family once. She was four months pregnant with her son when she was drawn to the well and went through.

She named her son after Kagome’s father.

Moroha outlives her husband and children, and even two generations of grandkids.

In an ode to her parents, she died resting against the Tree of Ages, surrounded by her cousins, uncle and aunt.

Hisui 💚

Took up demon slaying after being inspired by his mother and uncle.

He was gifted Hiraikotsu when he was eleven years old.

Has a much better relationship with his father than in the actual canon.

A bit clueless when it comes to women flirting with him. He’s a soft hearted young man, but he isn’t afraid to take care of his sisters and younger siblings.

The middle child and the oldest boy. Between his older sisters, and his younger brothers, someone has to be the Mom sibling.

There was period of seven years where he didn’t see Moroha or the Tuna twins. He was off demon slaying and forging his own path. He was 18 when he reunited with the three.

Hisui is his mother’s son when it comes to romance. He develops a crush on Moroha and doesn’t know how to handle it. So he usually keeps quiet but oh boy does he get jealous.

The moment he realizes he wants to marry Moroha, he sits Inuyasha down and asks for permission to court her. The hanyo is flabbergasted but he doesn’t make it easy (at first) but he folds a month in because he knows Hisui is a good kid.

He proposes in a similar fashion to his father. And like when his parents got engaged, Towa, Setsuna, KinGyo and their parents are all listening in.

He is a nervous wreck when he learns he is going to be a father.

He and Moroha have three children: two sons and a daughter.

Hisui was 84 when he died, surrounded by his family. He was also the first one to greet Moroha in the afterlife.

Towa and Setsuna are Kagura's daughters, btw.

All the clues are pointing to Kagura as the mother at this point.

Towa inherits Sesshoumaru's hair and power.

While inherits Kagura's red eyes and the pupils similar to Sesshoumaru's, but the eyeshape and eyeslashes belongs to Kagura's. Rin or Sess doesn't have lower lashes like Kagura's ones.

Setsuna is hard to crack one but someone in the fandom @doombull has cracking the code.

Setsuna's appearance is a combination of SessKagu + Uncle Byakuya. Setsuna has bangs like Sesshoumaru's, hair color dark with brown hue and eyeshape + eyelashes like Kagura, while the purplish eyes' color like Uncle Byakuya.

Setsuna's power is also similar to Kagura associated with the wind and we all pretty know that the only woman that has been a constant icon as the wind in Inuyasha is no other that Kagura herself, no one else. It's pretty stupid if Kagura is not the mom at this point like it was right there! She also inherits her uncle's power with the Moth.

Also this parallel is very much telling...

Both Kagura and Setsuna showed to be surrounded by the white flowers called Anemone in which the flower means in Greek "DAUGHTER OF THE WIND". Based on this symbolism, we can interpret...

Setsuna is the daughter of the wind.

If the mother happened to be Rin, I wouldn't buy that shit after all the subtle clues pointed above, beside the developers said that the mother will surprise you. If Rin is the mother, it's basically what most of us have expected so there is no surprise value there, however if the mother is Kagura the fandom surely will be surprised since the last time we know about her was that she had already died, but it won't be too far-fetched if Kagura is the mother. She can be reincarnated as a human just like Kagome or brought to life again just like many characters in Inuyasha. Perhaps Sesshoumaru and Kagura met once again and their story continues... hopefully it will ended with happier note than the bitter end.

Since they said we should pay close attention to details, I want to give my two cents on a similarity that I found between Setsuna and Towa and Seshomaru and Kagura:  The way they "met". 

For Setsuna, this scene is the first time she “sees” Towa. Setsuna doesn't know who that girl is so she distrusts her and attacks her, so Towa jumps away but does not attack her back.. It's the same way Sesshomaru responds the first time he sees Kagura (when she goes to tell him about the Tokijin sword); he does not know her and mistrusts her so the first thing he does is attack her and she jumps away but does not attack him back. Towa KNOWS who Setsuna is so she calls her name and then introduces herself. Same with Kagura, she ALREADY KNOWS who Sesshomaru is and calls him by name, and then Kagura introduces herself. (And Sesshomaru never forgets her, by the way.) Also in those scenes there are two little girls: On the one hand Rin and on the other side Mei. Both being the little sisters / ward of one of the characters in question (not potential lovers).

My cousin and I have been discussing Yashahime very in depth, non stop for the past two days, and have come to the conclusion that the most compelling evidence points to Kagura somehow being Towa and Setsuna's mom. How is she somehow their mother? We're not sure, seen a few very compelling theories, but absolutely no clue. How we got there? Very convoluted disjointed, and interspersed with other conversations to the point that the whole conversation makes no sense. And oddly enough one of the points we kept ending up back at is that Setsuna actually looks alot like Byakuya - Kagura's 'twin'...

YASHAHIME REWRITE OUTLINE

Since I’m probably not going to make a season rewrite, because I just don’t have the energy for that, I thought I might at least share my outline.

So the jumping off point is my Sesskagu fic “Now She has a Heart” which depicts a post series romance between a newly returned human Kagura and Sesshomaru having Setsuna and Towa. Kagura’s human body has poor health, and so she doesn’t have long to live. A few years after the fic, she dies of her weak body and is revived by the Tensaiga.

Shortly after this, when the girls are all around seven or eight, her health starts declining again. Sesshomaru leaves to find a cure, but while he’s gone he attacked by the villain of the series. The villain (not sure if I’ll use the one from the show, or if I’ll pull a rumiko and have a bunch of rando villains before the end one) mind controls Sesshomaru who will now act as more of an antagonist.

Kagome possesses two of the pearls because she was using them to visit her family on occasion (she was gifted them in the fic). The villain wants revenge on Toga’s bloodline, so he attacks Inuyasha and Sesshomaru’s family. This guy is just too powerful, but Kagome thinks she can maybe take him. Inuyasha is severely wounded and Kagome is able to seal him in the tree (because, idk, it would parallel the original series and it makes a little more sense).

Kagura is also mortally wounded in the attack and with the last vestiges of her power is able to send her children away. The twins are separated, and Kagome finds Towa. She gives Towa the pearl and sends her to the future as a last ditch effort to protect her niece. Moroha is with Sango and Miroku who are fending off a demon hoard. Setsuna is picked up by Sesshomaru’s mom. Kagome faces off against the villain, and is able to severely wound him, but is sniped at the last minute by a secret villain and captured.

Okay, so to recap: The girls are all around 6 or 7 years old. Towa is being raised in the future by Kagome’s family who know who she is. Towa has some trauma related amnesia and sort of just forgets about where she came from. She knows she’s adopted and that Kagome is her aunt, but she can’t recall anything else. The Higurashi’s decide to raise her normally, and her demon powers seemed to be sealed with her memories.

Moroha is raised by Sango and Miroku. She is determined to avenge her parents (as they all believe them to be dead), and in general has a strong dislike of demons. She’s largely the same except she doesn’t have a debt to pay off. She’s a demon hunter because that’s what Sango’s clan does. Rin is also here, and she's the only one to have any contact with Setsuna.

Setsuna is raised by her grandmother. She becomes a warrior maiden who has sworn revenge on the villain who killed her mother (and to her knowledge her sister). She keeps in some contact with Rin whom she sees as an older sister of sorts. Rin is the one to try and appeal to her humanity, but Setsuna sees humanity as weakness both due to her grandmother’s influence as well as her own inability to protect her mom and sister.

Fast forward to the start of the series, seven years later. The villain has been recovering from his wounds all this time, and with the help of a pearl decides to try and attack Moroha. Moroha has a pearl from the rougue, but doesn’t know it. Setsuna, senses the villain has come out of hiding and comes out to meet him. Together, the two girls fight but are over powered. They escape to the future, Moroha not aware that she has the ability (and not trying because she doesn’t want to inform her maternal family that Kagome is dead).

Once in the future they meet Towa and it largely goes the same from there, except that Hsui and maybe Koga’s kid and shippo or someone like shippo will accompany them when they go on adventures in the feudal era. I feel like this will round out the cast a bit more.

I don’t think Koga has a son in the actual show, but in my version he does have a son. I can’t really think of characterization besides a funny dynamic with Moroha. I think it’d be funny if initially he comes onto her like how Koga came onto Kagome due to her abilities, and then once her personality comes out they start clashing real hard.

What rubbed me wrong about the show is that it needed to get the parents out of the way, but it didn’t do it in a way that respected them. I like aspects of it, like someone being sealed in the tree, Sesshomaru being an antagonist again, and the idea of the next generation having adventures. but the way all the characters acted like they didn’t know each other didn’t make any sense.

Setsuna did not sleep because she could not dream.

She did not dream because her family had robbed that from her.

Setsuna did not know her mother's name because her father refused to look at her.

Her father refused to look at her because she looked like her mother and always had the wind on her blade.

Setsuna was, above all things, unnatural.

She was unnatural because her parents were unnatural, and the way she had come to be was just the same.

It had been by blood and sorrow and wind. A strand of silver hair caught on blustering gust—a dying breath—which entwined with two white petals stained purple with deadly miasma. They were carried away on a lonesome gust of wind, twisted by the the free air across the lands, until they were caught in a tree and nestled away for so many years.

So many years alone in the forest. So many years as just white, silver, and purple, until fate claimed its due.

Until two petals became two babes, drawn together by a string of silver fate and cursed with the shadow of their blood.

Byakuya, stranded in the darkness of the void, was the one who came to Sesshomaru in his dreams and told him of his unnatural twins. He was the one who laughed and laughed, and wondered aloud if Naraku had slithered his way out of death after all.

But when Sesshomaru found them to see for himself, he found the daughters of the wind. Black haired, red eyed, and pale skinned between them both. Screaming, too, like Kagura often had.

So he didn't kill them. That would be someone else's task. But he worried and ruminated and wondered. He let Byakuya steal Setsuna's dreams long after Towa had disappeared—sheltering her away from a part of herself that was better left sealed, just in case.

And he didn't share this with a single soul.

What he did do was stand aside as he watched Kirinmaru, weak and enraged, cut down his teenaged daughter with the fatal blow. He listened to Towa scream. He watched Moroha, so much like her father and his father before him, become enraged.

The Lord of the West, the wielder of the blade of life and death, watched and waited to see how death would greet his daughter.

Tenseiga was laughing at him.

Because it was with no delay that Setsuna's eyes opened—that her body jerked and cracked in a way that a living corpse did, reorganizing itself back into place as she staggered back to her feet. Crimson blood spilled down her chest.

Kirinmaru struck again, startled but unphased, burying his blade through her chest. Sesshomaru moved only to grab Towa by her shoulder so they could watch Setsuna die again, uninterrupted. She hung lifeless on his blade, glinting between her shoulderblades with drops of ruby red.

Yet still she stood, gasping, when he withdrew his weapon from her. Red blood turned purple and Sesshomaru grimaced against the smell.

Kirinmaru continued his assault. Towa was trying to pry his fingers off her shoulder to save her sister, to stop the massacre, but Sesshomaru had to know.

Was this only Kagura's doing? Or was it something more? Something worse?

When Moroha leapt to action, a wind knocked her clear on her side and slammed her against a rock.

So Kagura was watching, too. Wondering. Fearing. Hoping. Free and helpless, forced only to witness.

Off came Setsuna's hand, only to grow back again. In went a blade through her body; an impalement, a cut, a slice, a stab—all stitched together by black and purple blood. A leg lost, a leg regrown. A face slashed and then healed. All this, met without resistance because she was in shock.

Until she wasn't anymore. Until she could speak again and two voices came out of her mouth, a spider's scar spreading across her bare, tattered back like lightning.

"...Are you done?" asked a girl and the echo of her grandfather. Sesshomaru's stomach pitted and the wind wailed.

Kirinmaru stood in the face of the remnants of the only man Sesshomaru ever considered a threat and scoffed. Like a fool. But perhaps that was just to hide the dread.

"What are you, child?" he asked.

And Setsuna, in her fashion, did not answer.

She attacked and the Eastern Sun fled.

How they ruined Inuyasha/Yashahime pt. 2

☆Turning a badass Character like Sango in just....Miroku' Wife

☆Kagome still being Useless? She showed up to battle with Moroha with no bow and arrows... like why Kagome.

☆ Kagome still being referred as Kikyo Reincarnation

☆the Terrible Fight scenes that last what? 2 minutes max?

☆the Space Yokai... ion get it lmao They built.it up like it was so strong... and Inuyasha and Sesshomaru took it out with 2 moves....

☆Towa being OP for nooooo damn reason! Towa has no prior training yet she defeating demons left and right. Yet they made sure to show Kagome lack of training very evident.

☆Inconsistencies. More so amongst the fandom.. " Its the feudal Era. It was normal back then. Because people died early" 🥲🥲😪😪 God help me on this one...

ALSO INUYASHA: Has a bunch of old people running around in the show. Kaede seemingly being the oldest

1) It wasn't as common as you think.

2) Inuyasha is so far from accurate. There's literal demons in this show and magical swords and Weapons...

3)If its so common, then why hasn't Sango already been married off by the time she was introduced. Or why don't Kohaku have a wife yet. Or Hisui.. Or Sangos Daughters( this may be true or not. It hasn't been shown)

4) Of you do a little research like people tell me. You'll know why it wasn't common and why it happened when it did

☆Had the audacity to make an episode showing the "horror" of Tamano situations. Amd the hoard of men coming after her at 13.

The next episode revealed Rin as the Mother....I 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️ and Based on what I calculated Shes about 15/16.

Currently, in the process of an Inuyasha fanfic that for some reason has me crossing over into live-action, territory cause my brain won’t let it go. I will say it’s a massive canon divergence for both series involved and currently these are some of the tropes:

It is also not Yashahime friendly in terms of its supposed canon. Rin is, as she always has been, Sesshomaru’s adopted daughter and considered his firstborn. I will however be implementing the silver scale curse (and another curse that I'm working the tweaks out of) and the Tuna twins {Towa and Setsuna} are her younger sisters.

I may just include short fics that are tie-ins cause there is so much story I want to include. So if anything, the main story won’t be published for a while but I do want to focus on more of the Inu-verse of the story.

Also, things to note; the couples in are canon only to the manga. So please be aware that InuKag. MirSan & SessKagu are canon in this fic. I will not be listing the other fandom just yet because I am working out how I am going to write this.

Hopefully, I can have it all figured out and ready to go by the summer.

Until then, I have several other works being worked on and also in the process of writing. The first of my AO3 stories will be out by the end of the week, so please stay tuned for that.

So i think i get why setsuna and towa look more like sesskagu kids than rin's. The characters were designed by rumiko herself, and since rumiko sees rin as sesshomaru's kid, ahe designed the twins, consciously or unconsciously, with kagura in mind. She she did gave hints that kagura could have been a canon romantic interest for sesshomaru had she not died (like when she compared their relationship to i think it was, miroku and sango's) .

It was Miroku and Sango she compared SessKagu to, yes ✨ She talked about how she didn't plan for MirSan to happen, it just did, then said it was the same for Sesshomaru and Kagura, they came together spontaneously ♥️

Imo you're absolutely right about there being no Rin in those kids because Takahashi never envisioned her as a romantic partner for Sesshomaru. Here's the funny thing, though - if I remember correctly, RT's original design for Towa and Setsuna had Towa with Sesshomaru's yellow eyes. Now, RT's never been particularly faithful to colour palettes, I think she's even admitted she sometimes forgets which colour she should be using and goes with whatever she feels like. It's possible she was expressly asked to make Towa red-eyed and simply forgot. Sessrins treat the twins as property. They only see them as Sessrin kids . A lot of them don’t want them in any romantic relationship saying they should be with their family !! But surly being in love with someone doesn’t mean you don’t care about your family . Yup, they do treat twins as s*ssr*n property. It was obvious with how shippers harassed an artist because they drew Towa and Setsuna as SessKagu child. They send threats... that's how possessive they are with their property.

About the kimonos, lol, I am writing this after watching the episode. Man, they really said that those ugly kimonos were expensive.

Things in my fanfic I feel like oversharing cause I have a compulsive need to:

I originally had a whole side story planned on how Rin, Kohaku and Hisui became vampires but I decided to scrap it. Partly because I love this characterization of Rin that I have and the idea of writing out her traumatic experience isn’t something I want to do. That would be just a big chunk of trauma porn and I don’t want to make readers uncomfortable (or myself).

There will be backstory to their turnings though. It will be explained.

Towa and Setsuna are still SessKagu twins and do have human nights. But their ears are pointed cause they would look cooler cause I said so.

Confirmed couples for this fic are as followed: established InuKag, SessKagu, MirSan (slight, but it’s potent to the story) and RikuRin {I will explain}

Kohaku does have a love interest but he’s currently healing from his relationship with Shiori and his LI is respectful.

Hisui is the oldest of the four kiddos, the absolute mom friend and his only weakness is when Moroha gives him puppy eyes. He can’t say no to them. He has tried and failed.

Moroha is second oldest cause she was born about a year after Sango’s disappearance.

The Tuna twins were born months later, and Setsuna hates that she’s the literal baby of the group.

All four of them are 18-19 in physical appearance and also mentally. They may be close to 500 years old but they’re all college aged with a bit more brain cells.

On that note, Towa is the only one of them to have actively gotten her college education. She studies in the States. She dragged Hisui along her second semester there and the two attend Duke University at the start of the fic.

Moroha is taking college courses online but she also has shrine maiden duties since she helps her great-grandpa and grandma run the Higurashi shrine.

Setsuna doesn’t give a shit. It keeps her from spending time with Kohaku (who is her uncle, mentor and second father figure)

Rin thinks it’s cute.

On the topic of the slightly older kiddos.

Because Sango literally was only 22 when she disappeared, I played around with idea I’d having Kohaku be physically older than her.

So he’s 26 while Rin is 23, the same age as KinGyo. Riku is physically 25

On the subject of Rin and Riku being a romantic item, they were originally going to be friends to budding lovers to enemies who hate fuck while mutually pining for each other but I did not feel up for writing that dynamic. Too toxic and irritable.

Instead, Rin is the personification of ‘looks like a cinnamon, can kill you’. A big inspiration for her characterization is Yor from Spy x Family. But she takes strongly after her mama Kagura and won’t hesitate to curse someone out.

Riku and Rin were friends before anything. Their friendship is what lead to her being kidnapped and cursed by Zero. I’m still working out those kinks on how it caused vampirism. 

Riku defected to Sesshomaru’s side after Rin was cursed. They didn’t start a relationship until years down the line.

Towa still has the silver pearl in her eye, Setsuna still has her gold pearl. Moroha wears her red pearl around her neck like a pendant.

Also, the girls’s hair does the Ghibli puff. Moroha’a hair is wavy like how Kagome’s was in the earlier manga so it’s adorable.

On the subject of character physical changes: Moroha’s eyes are more brown with a gray hint while Towa’s eyes are crimson. Setsuna retains her looks but their red streaks are dyed in honor of their mother.

Moroha gives Hisui blood. But he makes her promise it’s not unless it’s dire.

Kohaku, Rin and Hisui can go days without blood but no longer than six. If it’s been to long, their eyes turn spider lily red and they start to go into a feral state.

KinGyo are featured more in the later half of part 2. This fic idea is long but I am taking my time to write and work it out. But the Goldfish twins are featured.

Kin’u helps run the Higurashi shrine while Gyokuto has been taking care of the demon slayer village. Sesshomaru made it so the land was gifted to her family. So the cover story is it was in the family for years. She has a small weapons’ workshop and works with guns. She also handles demon slaying in Japan while the kiddos are away.

One of them is a lesbian, I’m still deciding which one.

Kohaku and Shiori almost had a child. But they decided against it because they weren’t how Kohaku’s vampirism would take in terms of genetics, since he’s still alive.

Shiori died during the Taisho era. Her death hurt mostly Setsuna and Kohaku.

Shippo and Soten took over taking care of the hanyo village.

Kohaku works as Sesshomaru’s informant. He’s actively looking for the Four Perils and Zero, and has always been just a step behind them.

It’s actually how he met Yuichiro (his love interest), who is human.

InuKag run a flower shop. Kagome wanted to open one in remembrance of her friends. She named it after Sango.

This whole story is going to take place from 2010 to 2014 😅

How she wished Zero had never come back to reclaim her heart.

Zero, the demoness who's heart she had apparently, returned to Japan eight days ago and the infernal woman had discovered her discarded heart was in the chest of the woman whom Sesshōmaru loved. This had caused Kagura to go into an early labor with her twins ---as if having multiple children at once was not a risk already--- and her to die a second time because her heart was failing.

"This Sesshōmaru will save you." He promises her he sits beside her. Their adopted daughter, Rin on the other side of her half holding Towa while Sesshōmaru held Setsuna.

"Rin has faith in you, Lord Sesshōmaru." Rin had stopped using that penchant of referring herself as Sesshōmaru's servant, but in times when their thirteen year old daughter felt distressed she would slip back in to it.

Kagura wished Rin did not have to suffer losing another mother, losing her birth mother had rendered her mute, Kagura does not want to imagine what losing her would cause her. "Don't forget papa always keeps his promises, mama." Rin says, her lip quivering and voice shaking.

"I won't, sweetheart, but for us to have an eternity of happiness we must suffer this moment of pain." Kagura hid her wince with a smile. She did not have much time, perhaps when it is time to go, Kagura will kiss her family goodbye. "Take care of your father and your sisters while I am gone, Rin."

*Apparently I need to make a disclaimer because some people think I'm super serious about this post. I'm not. It was just a fun little exploration about some similarities I noticed. I knew it was mostly bullshit going in.*

So I was writing up another crackpot theory. One about a possible Naraku descendant or incarnation in Yashahime when I realized something.

I always thought it odd that Setsuna's demon slayer uniform differed from the others. I meant to explore this peculiarity but never got around to it. I thought it possible the twins color schemes/clothing might be a reference to the mother

Well, I was just looking at pictures of Naraku and noticed of all the characters in Inuyasha, Setsuna's uniform/color scheme matches most closely to Naraku's appearance in the later episodes. Let's compare:

Both are in a dark and light blue, purple and silver/grey. One of the biggest differences in Setsuna's uniform from the other slayers is that she is wearing two layers of blue and white kimono under her armor and so is Naraku. And note the way her mokomoko curls around and creates two tails. Does it not remind you of Naraku's armor and tentacles?

And there's more, although this might be a stretch. In Naraku's kimono, he has floating ribbons symbols like the one found in Setsuna's ED scene.

Since there's a lot less to connect Towa's imagery to Kagura, I'm beginning to think that Setsuna represents past Kagura and Towa's imagery represents Kagura after she's brought back, however that occurs. A perfect representation of past/future.

Oh fuck there's even more that I found when I went to download pics for this post. Look at Setsuna when she arrives at Kaede. People like to to claim she wearing the mokomoko like that to hide Christmas tree hair but look at Naraku in his baboon pelt. Jesus Christ!

And naysayers want to claim we're pulling all this outta of our asses. I'm seriously about to start declaring SessKagu is canon.

Some additional information has come to light via discussion in the comments. It's possible Sunrise is trying to indirectly point to Kagura by using imagery from Naruku and his incarnations.

@prankprincess123 pointed out that Setsuna looks exactly like a younger female version Byakuya. Even has the same purple eyes.

And there's also this. RT has an old manga called Mermaid Saga. There's a character named Towa and she looks remarkably like an adult Kanna.

The connection seems like a stretch but hear me out. Towa's name happens to be Towa Kannagi. KANNAgi. It's possible when designing INUKanna, she used MSTowa as a model. And this Towa is also a twin.

A few of RT's other works have already been referenced. I haven't made the post yet, but I have every reason to believe Mermaid Saga's themes will referenced in HNY. I was already exploring it before I made the connection to Kanna and Towa. It's possible Sunrise chose Towa's name so that we were lead to that story and maybe make the connection to Kanna too. I'm probably giving them too much credit but I do find it interesting.

So I’ve been inspired by @loveyou-x3000’s bullet point Yashahime rewrite.

I currently have an Inuyasha fanfic on hiatus called “Stuck in Time.” It focuses on Inuyasha and Kagome being stuck in the Modern Era for three years after the final battle with Naraku. I already had an idea to turn this into a trilogy, but since Yashahime is so abysmal, I will be incorporating the elements I think could have worked had Surise went a different route with their writing.

1. Stuck in Time

Summary: Inuyasha and Kagome appear in the Modern Era after defeating Naraku and wishing away the Shikon Jewel. Upon trying to return to his era, Inuyasha discovers that the well has stopped working. Trapped with no way to return, Inuyasha and Kagome must work together to find a way back.

Pairings: Inukag, Mirsan, Sesskagu, KohRin (Future), Suikik

Inuyasha and Kagome get stuck in the Modern Era for 3 years.

Older modern Sesshomaru, resurrected Kagura

Inuyasha goes to school and helps defeat Entrance Exam.

Kagome gets proper miko training with reincarnated Kikyo.

Timey-wimey shit

2. Towards Tomorrow

Summary: Armed with knowledge about events to come, Inuyasha and Kagome return to the Feudal Era after the well reopens. Can Inuyasha and Kagome protect their friends, raise their family, and help save the future?

Inukag raise their family. Moroha is the oldest of three.

Mirsan Family is the same, except the twins and Hisui are closer in age. Sango and Miroku get married after the battle, but do not become pregnant until Sango is 18. The twins are born 9 months later. When Kagome and Inuyasha return, the twins are one and Sango is in her earliest stages of pregnancy with Hisui.

During the three years Inukag are in the Modern Era:

Sango is still an active demon slayer even though she has young children. Sango and Miroku live in Kaede’s village. Sango trains the villagers. Miroku and Kaede work together.

Kohaku continues his training. He lives with Sango and Miroku and their kids. Kohaku wants to rebuild the Demon Slayer Village. Sango wants to as well, but thinks it would be better to wait until both Kohaku and her children are older.

Rin lives with Kaede and is learning to be a midwife and healer. Rin has expressed desire to learn how to be a Demon Slayer, but Sango, Kaede, and Sesshomaru believe it would be best for Rin to wait until she is 11 or 12 to start training. In the meantime Rin will focus on healing, midwifery, and learning how to be a normal child.

Sesshomaru looks for ways to resurrect Kagura. His pride was severely injured when he could not save her from death, and he hates the feelings of guilt, regret, and remorse that have consumed him ever since. Sesshomaru visits the village every few months to check up on Rin and Kohaku. Sesshomaru provides Rin with new kimonos as she grows, and helps train Kohaku when he visits. Sometimes, Sesshomaru will leave demon bones at the entrance to the village for Sango to use to make weapons.

Kagura is resurrected. She is a half-demon with a human heart, the heart she had at the time of her death. She and Sesshomaru travel together. Kagura does not visit the village with Sesshomaru, but helps Sesshomaru pick the best kimonos for Rin from the ones Jaken retrieves. 

Sesshomaru and Kagura get secretly married. The twins are born around the same time as Moroha, about a year after Inukag’s return. Sesshomaru brings the twins to visit Rin and Kohaku. Everyone is surprised except for Inuyasha and Kagome who know. Sesshomaru doesn’t know that Inukag knows, and they must keep this knowledge to themselves.

When Inukag Returns:

 Inukag gets married. They spend a year readjusting to the Feudal Era. During this year they become pregnant with Moroha. Hisui is born. Kagura becomes pregnant with the twins (not in the village). 

Kohaku starts to go on extended training trips with Sesshomaru, and sometimes on his own. Kagura remains with Inukimi when Sesshomaru visits the village or helps Kohaku train. Rin is continuing her healing and midwife training, and now that Hisui is born, Sango will begin to teach her the basics of Demon Slaying and self-defense.

Shiori and her mom move to Kaede’s Village. Shiori and Rin become fast friends. Kaede’s Village becomes a safe place for Hanyou children and their families. 

The Roothead incident happens during Kagome’s early stages of pregnancy. They defeat Roothead. He doesn’t attach himself to the Tree of Ages.

Moroha is born. Towa and Setsuna are born. KIRINMARU/ZERO/RIKU does not happen at this time, and there is no dumb comet.

When Moroha is two, Kagome becomes pregnant with her second child. When Moroha is four, Kagome becomes pregnant with her final child.

EVERYONE GETS TO GROW UP AND BE HAPPY FOR 14 YEARS.

During this time Sango and Miroku move to the Demon Slayer Village where they live during the busy season. During the winter months they return to Kaede’s Village. Kohaku and Sango rebuild the Demon Slayer Village and recruit and train new Demon Slayers.

Rin joins the Demon Slayers. She leaves Kaede’s Village at age 16 to live with the Demon Slayers. She works as Kohaku’s partner.

Shirori helps Kaede protect the village while Miroku and his daughter Kin’u go on a two year training. Gyokuto works as a healer with the Demon Slayers, and Hisui is training under his mother and Kohaku to be a Demon Slayer. Upon his 16th birthday, Sango gifts Hisui Hiraikotsu.

Moroha and her siblings grow up with Inuyasha and Kagome. Inuyasha and Kagome know that Zero has been accumulating power during these years, that she has awakened her brother, and that Riku is working as a free agent of chaos. However, Inukag can do nothing. They must accept the fate that befalls them.

Rin and Kohaku eventually turn from partners to lovers, and get married.

When the twins and Moroha are 14, Zero attacks. Sesshomaru, Inuyasha, and Kagome are sent to the Dream Dimension. Riku, who can manipulate time, sends Kagura back to a time when she does not possess a corporeal body. Kagura returns to her original form, the wind, but retains her consciousness and memories. Rin and Kohaku lead the Demon Slayers in a fight while Sango and Hisui go help protect Kaede’s Village.

Rin is injured in the battle. To help her heal so that she does not die a final time, Keade helps Kohaku place Rin in the Tree of Ages.

Koga and Ayame (yes Ayame is in here) take in Inukag’s second child, and Inukag’s youngest child goes to Miroku and Sango. Inuyasha and Kagome knew this would happen so made the proper plans to assure their youngest children were protected.

Moroha, Towa, and Setsuna need to team up to defeat Zero and Riku to free their parents and fix time so that Kagura can regain her corporeal body.

Cue Yashahime start without the bullshit of parents being absent FOR REASONS. No Towa going to the Modern Era for no reason? OG characters still have important roles and aren’t OOC. Rin ins’t a child bride or fridged in a tree for 14 years (more like a few months at most), Rin has an actual personality, goals, and agency. Kohaku and Kaede aren't dumbasses for “mystery” purposes. The girls’ powers make sense and no random power-ups because they’ve been with their parents for 14 years. Riku is still manipulative but for a reason other than what it’ll probably be in Yashahime. Kirinmaru is tired and just wants to sleep. He wants nothing to do with anyone or anything and is mad Zero woke him up. He’s unproblematic and I stan.

Zero is the big bad. No she doesn’t care about Toga. No there are no rainbow pearls. She just noticed the power vacuum Naraku and the absence of the jewel creates and makes her moves. She has to remove Inukag and Sesskagu because they’re her biggest threats. The Dream Realm is the nightmarish realm where everything is an illusion. Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, and Kagome are battling their worst nightmares trying to escape as their daughters try to save them.

3. Winds of Change

Summary: With Zero and Riku defeated, Inuyasha and Kagome can relax with their family and friends. Rin and Kohaku have decided to start their family, and are pregnant with their first child. All of a sudden, the well reopens. Called to the Modern Era once more, Inuyasha and Kagome learn of a threat that has the power to alter time and fate. With Rin and Kohaku’s future child the key to everything, Inuyasha and Kagome must protect them at all costs.

KohRin are Kagome’s ancestors.
