The Importance of Child Care Courses
Childcare is a vital service that supports working parents and contributes to the overall well-being of children. Government-funded childcare courses can equip individuals with the necessary skills to provide quality care for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. These classes could cover a range of topics, like:

they made me in a lab to be obsessed with Massachusetts tourism
#omg kiera no one cares#I'm not gonna act like i care about anything more than the tourism i know what I'm about#when my uncle was threatening to kill me and my brother the second or third time i don't remember my parents were really considering moving#and changing our last name and of course my first thought was we should move to massachusetts and think about how fun that would be#i had a big revolutionary war phase (mostly fashion based as i am an American girl girl but still) phase

please forgive me, but I need to complain and over-share or my brain is going to explode please feel free to ignore
#I'm not doing well.#the last two places I worked (in a tourism-adjacent sector) closed. broadly speaking due to post-lockdown financial issues#for the past year at my current job I've been earning less than half what I used to. this was the only offer I got at the time and#I haven't found anything better since. this is not sustainable I'm barely making it each month...#I live with my parents and cancelled my health insurance I don't know how else to reduce my budget. it's depressing tbh#the solution is obviously to find a better job but that's just not happening and I'm beginning to feel discouraged.#I hate being negative it's a very unattractive character trait but I just feel myself slipping and spiraling#I know I should be taking short courses or volunteering to boost my cv but like when ! and how !#I can't afford to work less but I get home at 20h so even evening courses are tricky. I work every other saturday too so weekends are out#and like I do need to rest at some point you can't be depressed and burnt out that's a terrible combo#was looking at a dtp/typesetting short course and 1) I'll need a new computer that can actually run design programs#and 2) the course itself is like 2 month's salaries which I cannot realistically save right now#and yet I'm still ''over-qualified'' for entry level positions because I went to uni. well maybe that's just a polite excuse#because as interesting as my humanities degrees were they didn't equip me with any practical or marketable skills#besides being good at reading and writing. but AI can do that for free now so that's not helpful#I always thought I was reasonably intelligent but I cannot solve this puzzle. there must be a creative solution that I'm missing#but i feel so stuck and trapped#and at least once a week some poor soul stumbles in to the office practically begging for a job so I feel bad for complaining#a little truly is better than nothing#but thank god we elected more pro-business capitalists into government that really is going to be great for us workers (sarcasm)#also I should acknowledge#I am getting some déjà vu. I feel like I've vented about this topic before#the difference is. back then it was a potential concern. now the concern has materialised into reality and rendered the situation desperate

When American politicians discuss doing universal healthcare in their country and start whining about the possibility of "medical tourism" where people would theoretically go to America to get healthcare I want to scream and shake them. That already exists- Canada is where Americans went to get their fucking insulin because their own government failed them so hard another country nearly had an insulin shortage a few times over the course of the pandemic alone.
If you want to talk about medical tourism and that """"straining""""" the American healthcare system then maybe take a look at the way Americans are consistently causing strains to Canada's healthcare!! And I assume Americans don't just travel here for healthcare either, so when American politicians act like they're Just The Best and everyone will go to America for healthcare I want to be like THE ISSUE YOURE BITCHING ABOUT EXISTS AND ITS NOT HAPPENING TO YOU ITS HAPPENING TO CANADA AND ITS BECAUSE YOU REFUSE TO ADEQUATELY SERVICE YOUR POPULATION AND MORE THAN ONCE CANADIAN DIABETICS WERE THE ONES WHO'D SUFFER FOR IT. Like you want to talk medical tourism without ever acknowledging your population using other countries healthcare, which I guess is fine because it's not America footing the bill, really?
#winters ramblings#and to be VERY CLEAR this is NOT hate about Americans getting canadian insulin OF FUCKING COURSE theyre coming here#to get LIFE SAVING NON NEGOTIABLE MEDS. of COURSE they are who could possibly blame them for that??#but American politicians yapping about medical tourism like americans arent DYING from not using their bullshit health system#or otherwise going to OTHER COUNTRIES for care like getthe FUCK out of here you people KNOW the strain you cause to canada#American politicians just dont want to take responsibility for their own fucking population to the point of that population LITERALLY DYING#before going and using AMERICAN healthcare. also to access another countrys healthcare thats already a huge privilege#not everyone can even CONSIDER doing that and i know people coming for insulin were coming from FAR to get it#which is a FAILURE to that population from their eugenicist ass government but even these people scrapping for NECESSARY meds#are of the most privileged people looking for those meds. but like youre REALLY gunna talk about kedical tourism#like its not YOUR population doing the tourism because YOU FAILED THEM?? really??!?

Update 6/22/23: They have passed. 💔
And exactly, one of them was a literal teenager.
And another one wasn’t “just some rich guy who didn’t know any better” - he was a former French Navy diver and avid researcher of the Titanic, and had made the trip 37 times before. He was even part of the first expedition in 1987.
The lost OceanGate "sub" is especially horrifying to me, because I actually went into the Titan itself while it was on land. At the time it had only been used for research, but while talking to the OceanGate staff they said they had plans to take civilians down to see the wreckage.
It's not a submarine, it's a tiny, virtually featureless tube. You cannot stand. You can barely sit without touching knees to another person. There is one teeny tiny peephole to see the ocean, and a few screens. And you get locked in it from the outside. It was terrifying, and I was only in it for ten minutes. As someone with thlassophobia, I could never imagine someone would willingly entering the Titan to go to the depths of the ocean, even for research purposes.
I've seen people saying those on board deserve what happened to them because they decided to pay to visit/desecrate a grave site. Let me be clear- I wouldn't wish that upon my worst enemies. One of the people on board is a TEENAGER. I desperately hope the vessel will be found on the surface and the people will be able to be rescued, but I think it is unlikely. This tiny 22- foot craft would have had to been able to surface, and then it will have to be found in a vast ocean within 2 days now, or else everyone will suffocate. Even if they're found at the bottom of the ocean alive, getting them to the surface within the current time limit will be near impossible.
Spending four days in the Titan, knowing rescue is unlikely and you will choke when oxygen runs out, would be hell on earth. To me, it would be preferable to die instantly in a depressurization scenario.
Anyways, that's just my two cents. I'm open to questions about my personal experience with OceanGate, but obviously be respectful in regards to the people currently stuck in the Titan.
#i agree that 250k is absolutely ridiculous in terms of ‘tourism’ (plus it’s a gravesite have some respect tbh)#but this is still a tragedy. and of course so are the other drownings/accidents/‘accidents’ that occur#titanic#oceangate#paul-henri nargeolet#and this guy in particular was doing his job and something to advance research so…..lumping him in these little hot takes or whatever#seems a bit crass to me#rip 💔

Master the Basics: 10 Techniques to Elevate Your Bakery Art
Baking is more than just following a recipe; it's an art form that requires precision, creativity, and a deep understanding of the techniques that bring ingredients to life. Whether you are an aspiring baker or a seasoned professional, mastering the basics is essential to creating delicious and visually stunning baked goods. Here are ten techniques that will elevate your bakery art and set you apart in the competitive world of baking.
1. Understanding Ingredients and Their Functions
Every ingredient in baking serves a specific purpose, and understanding these roles is crucial for any baker. Flour provides structure, sugar adds sweetness and browning, eggs contribute to structure and moisture, while fats add tenderness and flavor. Learning the science behind each ingredient will help you adjust recipes and create your own unique baked goods.
Learn about different types of flour and their gluten content.
Understand the role of leavening agents like baking powder and yeast.
Explore the effects of temperature on baking outcomes.
2. Mastering the Art of Mixing
Proper mixing techniques can significantly affect the texture and consistency of your baked goods. Overmixing can lead to dense, tough cakes, while undermixing can result in uneven textures.
Understand the creaming method for light and fluffy cakes.
Learn the folding technique to retain air in delicate batters.
Explore the one-bowl method for quick and easy recipes.
3. Perfecting Dough Handling
Handling dough correctly is essential for achieving the right texture in bread, pastries, and other baked goods. Dough can be sensitive to overworking, which can lead to tough products.
Learn the importance of kneading and how it develops gluten.
Understand the role of resting dough for better elasticity.
Practice rolling techniques for even thickness.
4. The Science of Proofing
Proofing, or allowing the dough to rise, is a critical step in baking, particularly for bread. This process allows yeast to ferment, producing carbon dioxide that helps the dough expand.
Learn the optimal temperature for proofing dough.
Explore different proofing times for various types of bread.
Understand how to use a proofing box for consistent results.
5. Temperature Control and Baking Times
Accurate temperature control is essential for baking success. Too hot, and you risk burning your products; too cool, and they may not bake through properly.
Invest in a good oven thermometer to ensure accurate temperatures.
Learn about the different baking times for cakes, cookies, and bread.
Understand the importance of preheating the oven.
6. Decorating and Presentation Skills
The visual appeal of baked goods is just as important as their taste. Mastering decoration techniques can elevate your bakery art and make your products stand out.
Explore piping techniques for beautiful frosting designs.
Learn about glazing and drizzling for elegant finishes.
Understand the basics of fondant work for sculpted cakes.
7. Flavor Pairing and Enhancements
Baking is not just about sweetness; it's about creating a balance of flavors that complement each other. Understanding how to pair flavors can take your baked goods to the next level.
Experiment with different spices and herbs.
Learn about the use of extracts and essences.
Explore the combination of sweet and savory elements.
8. The Role of Measurement Precision
Baking is often described as a science because of the precision required in measuring ingredients. Even small deviations can lead to significant changes in the final product.
Use a digital scale for accurate measurements.
Understand the difference between dry and liquid measuring cups.
Learn the importance of sifting flour for accurate measurement.
9. Understanding Oven Types and Their Effects
Different ovens can produce varying results due to differences in heat distribution. Knowing your oven's characteristics can help you adjust your baking process for better outcomes.
Learn the difference between conventional and convection ovens.
Understand how to rotate pans for even baking.
Explore the impact of oven hotspots and how to manage them.
10. Continuous Practice and Experimentation
Like any other art form, baking requires continuous practice and experimentation. Trying new recipes, techniques, and ingredients will help you grow and refine your skills.
Keep a baking journal to track your experiments.
Join baking communities for inspiration and feedback.
Enroll in a bakery course in Kolkata to gain professional insights and hands-on experience.
Conclusion
Mastering the basics of baking is a journey that involves continuous learning and practice. By honing these ten techniques, you can elevate your bakery art and create products that are not only delicious but also visually captivating. Institutions like the Krystal School of Excellence offer comprehensive programs that cover these foundational skills and beyond, preparing students for successful careers in the baking industry. Whether you're pursuing a hospitality management diploma in Kolkata or training at a culinary institute in Kolkata, these techniques are essential building blocks for your future in baking.
