Lies of P sequel spoilers/theory
Yo, I know we're all anticipating the next game of the Lies of P franchise to have the main focus shifted to The Wizard of Oz, but i cant help but wonder....
The first pic is from the Wizard of Oz movie, the Wicked Witch of the East, crushed by Dorothy's house when she arrives in Oz.
The second pic is from the cut scene at the end of the first game. The girl is wearing the iconic ruby shoes but she wears a red dress. (I honestly haven't delved deeper into TWO lore if Dorothy's really depicted with a blue/silver dress as the Judy Garland movie plays out)
My theory is that we may be playing a sort of "prequel" to Lies of P or... That the game can be happening simultaneously with the LOP storyline (similar to the Little Nightmares DLC)
The only reason why i think of it is because
1.) the ending cut scene shows Krat not being destroyed at all. And i doubt that everything would be fixed by the time Paracelsus leaves. And
2.) the girl might be the Witch of the East. Just from her dress color and socks.
If we meet/challenge the witch of the east, it would tie nicely to the sequel game that would focus on The Wizard of Oz. (We might defeat her then enter Dorothy: "Toto, i have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore." Scene cuts to black).
Even though i strongly believe the DLC will still focus on Pinocchio based on the teaser images. (Hopefully we'll get some Carlo/Legendary Stalker/Gemini lore!) I guess it wouldn't hurt for a little more teaser stuff for the sequel. Like meeting an Npc or so.

For the fanfic writers ask game
Hi @bakewrite!! Thanks for the ask :)
🙋♀️ Do any irl people know you write fanfic?
Yes, some do! Partner and assorted trusted friends.
Funnily enough---I went to a wedding last week and was sitting next to someone I didn't know, and we had a perfectly lovely normal conversation and that was the end of it. But the next morning, the bride, our mutual friend, asked me how dinner was and if this person and I ended up talking about fic.
"NO, WHAT, WHY," says I.
"YOU BOTH WRITE FANFICTION," says the bride.
So I tracked down this person again and was like YOU DID NOT SAY YOU WROTE FIC and they said WELL NEITHER DID YOU and then we had a much more productive and authentic conversation after that. Also, now we're mutuals. Hi @soloorganaas lmfao
🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
Here is a little sneak peek from my upcoming Shore Leave fic that I thought was cute:
Jim stared at the forest around them for 3.5 seconds, brow furrowed, before he grinned wryly and said, “Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore.” “We were not in Kansas to begin with. Who is Toto?”
Thanks for the ask!! I hope you're doing well!!

Everyone's been going off the rails about the Wizard of Oz comparisons, so here's my contribution.
More thoughts under the cut. Many, many thoughts.
Canon references I've seen to Wizard of Oz:
"Coach, I've got a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore."
The Wizard of Oz pinball machine.
Rebecca's red-soled shoes immediately after.
"No place like home" on the pitch banner during a match.
The yellow lego brick under Ted's chair.
Roy's tie-dye shirt looking exactly like the swirl that begins the yellow brick road. (Unhinged, frankly.)
The biscuits being yellow bricks. (A stretch, but even so.)
The fact that in the upcoming episode, it LOOKS LIKE they might be watching The Wizard of Oz for movie night.
Further thoughts regarding character comparisons:
You could argue Ted and Beard are Dorothy and Toto. That's valid. Since we see Rebecca with the red shoes, maybe they're both Dorothy? They are soulmates after all. But...
Ted as Wizard because he's the one helping Jamie/Roy/Nate find their brains/heart/courage that they had in them all along.
And because the Wizard was originally also from Earth, then bumbled his way to Oz and became their leader, despite not knowing what he was doing, nor belonging there.
"You've got some sort of food that can teleport you back home?" Rebecca looks at the biscuits, which are yellow bricks, guiding her to the wizard aka Ted.
We've seen Rebecca wear red-soled shoes twice, and you need to click the ruby slippers THREE TIMES to go home.
You can have Rupert be the Wicked Witch if you want, I'm not currently sold on that beyond being the antagonist to Dorothy. (Does that mean Toto is Keeley?? I mean she's equally adorable.)
Nate being the cowardly lion also supports my theory that he'll return to coach Richmond when Ted leaves. (If you wanna be a stickler for the comparison, Jamie/scarecrow would be the coach with Nate and Roy assisting, but that seems highly unlikely.)
The wizard returns home, but accidentally leaves Dorothy behind. When Ted returns to Kansas, will Rebecca follow? (The Wizard/Professor does show up Dorothy's house at the end.)
Some of this feels far-fetched, which is the same thing I've had a problem with all along. I'm certain Ted's returning to Kansas, and I feel like they really have built up Tedbecca so hard. But how does it make sense for Rebecca to give up Richmond?
Please please share your own ridiculous theorycrafting. ♥
(Thank you to Kat and Ro for helping me go full rabbit hole on this theory, and also to twitter people sharing the canon references.)

✒️ 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒗𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒂𝒈
thank ya for tagging me, @foxclcves >:3c
rules: rewrite the line of dialogue from the person who tagged you into the voice of your OC! pass on the tag with a new line of dialogue.
my line: "this... isn't where i parked my car." / aka: what painfully awkward and humorous thing would your OC(s) say when they walk in on something they shouldn't have?
---
cassia
"--OH! ...oh-ho, no. *nervous laugh* toto, we're so not in kansas anymore, and we need to GO!" [she flees the room]
"--oOPSIE-daisy--haha!--have no fear, my memory's hazy!" [she double-fingerguns at you and winks, backing out of the room]
nyxram
[she says nothing; she just stands there and stares you down until it feels as though the roles were somehow reversed and you were the one who walked in on something you shouldn't have; there is also a 50/50 chance she's pointing a gun at you]
gwyn
"--... ... *in the most judgmental tone possible* ...huh. ... ..." [she steps back, chin raised, and closes the door again]
"... this'll be useful later. thanks." [she steps back and closes the door again]
ash (i will be kind & include her as though she had a body)
"--!!!" [high-pitched squeak as she fumbles to shut the door again]
"--OH! --oh, gods--sorry! sorry!! *hiding her face* i'm so sorry!" [she scrambles to shut the door and skitters away]

the line i give to you: "congrats, lil buddy, that's the worst anyone's ever done it." // aka: how would your OC(s) tell someone they did an absolutely terrible job?

Character ask: Dorothy Gale (The Wizard of Oz)
I answered this ask a while back, but I felt like sharing it again.
Favorite thing about them: She's an all-around likable character; a nice, warm-hearted, relatable every-girl, whose "heroine's journey" is engaging and enjoyable to follow.
Least favorite thing about them: Hmmm... there's not much to dislike about her. Maybe that she tries to run away from home without considering at first how much her aunt and uncle will miss her and worry about her. But since she's just (approximately) a 12-year-old girl and desperate to save her dog's life, it can be excused, especially because she feels so guilty about it later.
Three things I have in common with them:
*I have brown hair.
*I'm sensitive and a bit of a dreamer.
*I love dogs.
Three things I don't have in common with them:
*I've never lived with an aunt and uncle.
*I don't live on a farm.
*I could never manage a long journey on foot in high heels (though maybe if they were magic, I could).
Favorite line:
"Someplace where there isn't any trouble. Do you suppose there is such a place, Toto? There must be. It's not a place you can get to by a boat or a train. It's far, far away. Behind the moon, beyond the rain..."
All the lyrics to "Over the Rainbow."
To Miss Gulch when she comes to take Toto away – a good scene to remember whenever critics accuse the screenwriters of robbing Baum's young heroine of her spunk:
"I won't let you take him! You go away, you....! Oooh, I'll bite you myself! You wicked old witch!"
To the fearsome giant head of the Wizard – more good lines to remember any time a critic labels her a weakling:
"You ought to be ashamed of yourself, frightening him like that when he came for you to help!"
"If you were really great and powerful, you'd keep your promises!"
And of course, the iconic line when she first arrives in Munchkinland:
"Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore!"
brOTP: The Scarecrow, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, and their real-world equivalents, Hunk, Hickory, and Zeke.
OTP: Safety and happiness.
nOTP: Any of the other characters; they're all too old for her.
Random headcanon: Her parents died in a fire. This explains why fire and smoke are associated both with the Wicked Witch and with the Wizard's initial frightening appearance in her dream.
Unpopular opinion: I don't think she's too much of a damsel in distress or a crybaby. Now, I understand why feminists complain that she's less spunky and no-nonsense than Baum's original Dorothy. But (a) she's older than Baum's Dorothy – it's natural for an adolescent-ish girl to be more emotional than a small child, (b) she's not without her own spunk – she still stands up to people who behave badly or threaten her friends, and even slaps the nose of a lion (not yet knowing that he's a coward) in Toto's defense, (c) Baum's Dorothy cries fairly often too – I don't know where the myth that she hardly ever cries came from, and (d) with all the danger and turmoil she goes through, I think she's entitled to a little terror and a few tears!
Song I associate with them: What else?
youtube
Favorite pictures of them:

I feel like my OFMD thoughts would be more coherent if I weren't sleep deprived.
Spoilery take:
Good so far, but much, MUCH darker. Almost to the point of mixed feelings tbh, but I think I'm actually good with it being darker. But we're not in Kansas anymore. Toto went to Doggy Heaven.
That said, it's really not unusual for shows like OFMD to have more comedic first seasons, only to grow the gentlebeard. And it's not as though we didn't end even S1 with Lucius being "killed" and Ed cutting off Izzy's toe. (The first of many, apparently.) I do hope that things are a little less intense moving forward, though. I'm also torn because I like Jim with Archie, but I was really rooting them with Olu! I'm having a ship war with myself. So that's a mood. :P
Love Stede and Ed swimming together in Ed's dream. Ed's dream overall was a trip. It'll be interesting to see where this goes, because the trailers suggest less than smooth sailing. Which makes sense.
And Izzy. I liked him here.

@defenseonly sent "i can see you thinking. / for miguel <3"
miguel wasn't surprised to look up and see mr. lawrusso watching him. he had been the one to stress mindfulness during their lessons after all. "yeah. just thinking about how big this all feels," he said. "we're not in kansas anymore, toto," he added with a smile, thinking back to the movie he watched with his mom and yaya when he was in elementary school. "i'm just relieved that most of my friends are here, i don't think i could do this alone." while it definitely wasn't ideal having everyone from miyagi-do here, he could see why the people in charge had set a limit on participants. the place was packed. and with him, sam, robby, and hawk all fighting together they probably had a chance. he tried not to think too much about tory. he knew sensei silver was vicious, so he was hoping that he had somehow manipulated her into joining cobra kai again. no way would she go back on her own. would she?

It's a toss up between Scooby, Snoopy, and Toto.
Snoopy is third, but for Scooby and Toto? Who doesn't know of either of them?
"Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore" is one of the most iconic lines, in history. Way more than anything shitty-doo ever said or did. However, much as I loath that cartoon as the worst thing ever made, I do not dispute how much more recognizable Scooby is than anything else on that list.
So... The dog being addressed in one of the most quoted and recognizable lines of all time, or the most recognizable character on the list?
Although, how otto, doge, (who are those?) and Spot (assuming best known generic name?) made the list when Wishbone, Benji, and Eddie (Frasier) didn't is a travesty.
(and why is it otto)

No 20. TOTO, I HAVE A FEELING WE’RE NOT IN KANSAS ANYMORE Lost | Field Medicine | Medieval
_________________
Jason rubbed hard at Clay’s sternum, hoping to wake the youngest member of their team.
Hazed blue eyes blinked up at him and a pained grunt escaped the blond guy.
“Hey, how are you feeling?”
“Toto, I have a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore…”
“How is he?” Trent asked from where he was tending to one of the other guys.
“Think he hit his head.” Jason frowned, “Unfocused eyes, and thinks he’s Dorothy from the wizard of Oz…”
Trent nodded, “I’ll take a look at him later. -Ready to roll?”
“Yes.” Brock nodded as he tilted the litter at an angle so they wouldn’t have to physically lift Metal to get him on it. He also held a rolled up shirt in place so it would land behind the small of Metal’s back and give some support there, if it was needed.
Sonny and Ray had their hands wrapped in the fabric of Metal’s uniform, Sonny’s left hand at his shoulder, Ray’s left hand at his waist, Sonny’s right hand on his hip, Ray’s right hand near his knees.
“Ready.” Both Bravo 2 and 3 nodded.
“Roll up!” Trent ordered as he held Metal’s head in line with the rest of his spine.
They moved as one. Trent, Sonny and Ray rolling Metal onto his side and Brock lifting the litter in right behind Alpha-1’s back.
“Ready to roll back?” Trent asked.
The guys let him know they were.
“Roll back.”
Trent held Metal’s head until Sonny had placed something under the man’s head and neck so his head wouldn’t fall back from the current position, and something on each side to make sure they could secure his head completely.
“How are you doing?” Trent asked looking down at Metal.
“The neck brace and all of that is overkill…” Metal frowned as he pointed towards his head. “Told you it’s my lower back which is hurting.”
“Better safe than sorry…” Trent shrugged, “And I don’t like that you’re moving your arms either. Just in case…”
Metal rolled his eyes and let his right hand fall back to his side.
“Can you still feel your legs?”
“Yeah…” Metal paused, “Think I still can wiggle my toes as well”
“Let’s see it then…” Trent nodded towards Metal’s feet, and waited for the man to attempt, “Congrats, you’re right.”
“You should look to Clay…” Metal paused, “Pretty sure one of the others can secure me to this litter without you.”
* * *
“How is he?” Sonny asked as he stepped over to where Trent was checking on Clay.
“He called me Tinman…” Trent frowned, “Asked if I wanted to come with him to Oz to get a heart…”
Sonny chuckled a bit, “What does that make me?”
“Definitely the scarecrow…” Trent chuckled, “-Or the cowardly lion… You could be that as well…”
“Okay, not gonna take that personally…” Sonny frowned, “So he got his bell rung, anything else?”
“He yelped when I bumped into his leg…” Jason shot in, “Looked swollen above his ankle, but wasn’t able to get him to tell us if he was hurt anywhere else…”
“See if you find another neck brace in the chopper.” Trent ordered, “Just in case he injured his neck as well as his head.”
Sonny nodded and limped over to the downed helicopter they had crash landed with.
* * *
“So…” Metal sighed, looking over at Brock by only moving his eyes, “How are you feeling?”
“I’m not the one on a stretcher…” Brock tilted his head a little.
“No, but you also took a hard landing with a helicopter. And Sonny had to pop your shoulder back in place…”
Brock nodded.
“So, how are you?”
“Shoulder’s gonna be sore for a while…” Brock shrugged the shoulder which hadn’t been dislocated recently, “Glad Cerberus didn’t come on this mission.”
“Yeah, that’s luck…”
Brock nodded, “And you?”
“All this is probably blown way out of proportion…” Metal sighed, “Pretty sure my back is fine. Just a bit beaten up…”
“Well, Trent’s got a point with that ‘better safe than sorry’ way of thinking…” Brock offered up a quick smile.
“Yup, wouldn’t be the first time he was right about something…”
Brock nodded.
* * *
The rescue chopper came for them. They were loaded in and some of the other guys had to strap in, not getting a place to sit down.
They were almost back to the base when he realized that he no longer felt his legs.
He reached down with one hand and squeezed his thigh. Nothing.
The feeling in his legs hadn’t disappeared in the blink of an eye. It was more like they had gradually gotten more and more numb. And now it was like his legs didn’t exist.
He knew it was a bad sign.
He wanted to tell someone. But the chopper was too loud, and he didn’t have a headset to speak to the others to.
How life could be from now on started playing across his retinas, he felt some sort of panic grip at him. He wasn’t ready for this. What the heck was he going to do if he couldn’t be an operator anymore?
His eyes were stinging. He couldn’t cry right now. He couldn’t.
He squeezed his other leg. Also nothing.
Then he caught Sonny’s concerned eyes.
“Can’t feel?” the Texan mouthed.
If it hadn’t been for the neck brace, he would’ve shook his head in return, but he had to resort to mouth ‘no’ back.
He saw the concern multiply in Sonny’s face, before the Texan schooled his expression, “Gonna be fine…”
He knew neither of them believed it.
* * *
“Why am I on a stretcher?” Clay asked once the helicopter engine shut off.
“We were in a heli-crash. You hit your head really bad.” Trent winked.
“Why is my neck stuck?”
“Put a neck brace on you in case you hurt your neck as well…”
“Oh…”
Trent nodded, “You feel any pain?”
“Now that you mention it, my head feels like I got in a headbutting match with an ox.” Clay frowned, “And pretty sure my ankle’s broken…”
“Good.”
“How’s that good?” Clay frowned.
“Trust me, if you feel your legs, that’s good.” Trent winked, “You really hit your head bad.”
“I had this weird dream…”
“Wizard of Oz?” Trent asked.
“How’d you know?”
“Apparently Jase is Toto, and I’m Tinman…”
“Oh no…” Clay frowned.
“Oh yes…” Trent chuckled, “Dorothy…”
* * *
“…Why are you here?” Clay frowned as Full Metal was rolled into the same room he was resting in.
“Was in the same crash as you…” Metal sighed, not looking away from the ceiling.
“Did you get hurt as well?”
“I think everyone did.”
“But you’re the only other one here. The rest is resting up on their own.”
Metal sighed.
“Come on…”
Metal tilted his head a little, to look over at the younger team member. He saw Clay had his right leg in cast, rested high on a mountain of pillows, and bruising on large areas of the left side of his face.
“You look like shit.” He almost chuckled.
“Feel like it too, if you wondered…” Clay admitted, “What are you here for?”
Metal sighed, “I broke something… Had surgery to fix it.”
“That’s vague…”
Metal nodded a little, “Broke something in my back.”
“Oh…”
Metal offered up a tired smile, “I can’t feel my legs. But the professionals said they couldn’t see any injury to the spinal cord. They think it might be because it’s swollen right now, and that it might go back to normal… Or it might not…”
Clay swallowed, “Sorry…”
Metal nodded a little.
“You broke your back, but it didn’t cut the spinal cord?”
“I broke one of those spikes…” Metal shrugged a little, “The canal the spinal cord is in was unaffected by the break. But of course everything near it swelled up. Hopefully it’ll return to normal in a few weeks or months.”
Clay nodded, “Fingers crossed.”
“Yeah, fingers crossed.”
