“Kal-El of Krypton! I answered your call. The Beacon reached me across your Galaxy, the only other Kryptonian in existence. And I arrive, only to see you brought me to this...sickening display. [Superman: "You're Kara, you're my cousin?"] And you're a disappointment. I thought I would find a warrior. Instead, I find a joke, a lapdog, serving his entertainment to a weak and dissolute world. I'm not saying that there aren't temptations here. But a true Kryptonian pushes through. This planet it's made you soft. [Superman: "What are you saying?"] You have two choices, join me in conquering this planet, or kneel before your new Kryptonian Empire.” - Kara Zor-El, My Adventures with Superman (Season 2, Ep. 05)
The Toonami Trending Rundown for June 15-16, 2024. We reach the halfway point of My Adventures with Superman season 2 as Clark reunites with his long-lost cousin Kara. And among other great moments, we’re coming down the stretch with three more episodes of Zom 100’s first season after this week, as Akira returns home to his family; while Usopp and the Dwarves attack Sugar to try and stop her control of the toys.
For this week’s trending on Saturday, #Toonami trended in the USA on Twitter alongside My Adventures with Superman and Zom 100. No trends for Toonami Rewind on Friday were spotted this week.
This week’s feature was a new bumper ID titled “Screen Updates.” You can check it out below:

While there have been rumors and inclinations from Adult Swim that they do plan on producing a second season of Ninja Kamui, there is no official word on whether a second season is presently in production at this time. In a since-deleted news release by Business Wire, the article included a passage signifying that a second season of Ninja Kamui was in the works, saying ““NINJA KAMUI” anime series has become the most viewed anime ever in the history of both Adult Swim & MAX,” said Joseph Chou, CEO of Sola Entertainment. “We hope this game will continue to entertain the fans around the world while we work on Season 2 of the anime.””
However, Jason DeMarco has denied such an announcement, saying that “A second season has not been announced.” Chou later clarified to Anime News Network on Wednesday: “that the game's PR staff inserted the quote about Sola Entertainment "working on" a second season. While he said that they are considering new ideas, "there is nothing official at all."”
Next month, the block will be in a bit of a transition period as both Zom 100 and My Adventures with Superman will be completing their respective seasons on July 6 and July 20th respectively. For the nights of July 13 and 20th, both One Piece and Demon Slayer will have doubleheaders on the lineup on 12:30-1:30 a.m. and 3-4 a.m. respectively. Furthermore, on July 27, which ironically enough is Comic-Con week this year, My Adventures with Superman will be getting a marathon of all 10 episodes of its second season, a week after its season finale.
Not much else to say other than we hope you had a great Father's Day and Juneteenth, congratulations to the Boston Celtics on winning their record 18th NBA Championship, and stay gold.

Toonami Trending Rundown for May 7-8, 2022
Toonami Trending Rundown for May 7-8, 2022.
“That look. I love it when he stares dead ahead like that. It’s so intense. Not that long ago, revenge with my whole life. I should have been crushed when my plan failed, but I wasn’t, because it was Nagisa who stopped me. He’s the kindest soul I’ve ever known. Sure, he’s an assassin, but his blood lust filled the hole in my heart.” – Kaede Kayano, Assassination Classroom (Season 2, Episode…

You're the resident Ben 10 expert, do you have any idea when the next series could be announced? I finished everything, including the reboot, twice over and I still have cravings :(
Glad to accept the title (I’m not worthy!!) 😭😆
A few folks have asked Duncan Rouleau and a few other Man Of Action members what the future of Ben 10 is. Answer has been a resounding “something”! The short version is, Duncan gave us an estimate of ‘by the end of 2021’ to expect an announcement or some news in one way or another (though he’d also said the same about Ben 10 Vs The Universe and had been a goooood number of months off).
The way he worded his answer was essentially that something is being developed, but he likely isn’t involved. How much/little he knows is very likely locked behind NDA.
With the nature of shows CN’s greenlit on their lineup mainly consisting of 11-15 min short-format mostly-comedy programming, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if the next show would be similar in that respect. It is however worth noting CN is planning on bringing back (possibly half hour) action shows being overseen via the return of Toonami’s creator.
Ben 10 is a constant case of flip flopping for CN. In the mid 2000’s when it premiered it was just another show amidst its lineup, but approaching the 2010’s, became enough of a cash cow that they were confident enough to have it alongside Generator Rex as the proverbial face of the network. This proved to be short-lived as the popularity of Adventure Time BLEW UP very soon after. Rob Sorcher (chief content) was more intent on green lighting shows in the same vein as AT in any attempt to replicate its success/profitability, which largely resulted in the exodus of half hour plot-driven action on the network.
Additionally of note, Ben 10 has always been far more popular internationally than it has been domestically (put simply, it does better outside the US), though I would largely attribute this to CN US’s lack of promotion for the brand domestically and lack of risk-taking when it comes to very easy opportunities revolving around expanding Ben 10 to the next level (ex: the two canned live action movies Ryan Kelly signed on for initially that were cancelled because CN got cold feet, not wanting to be the only people doing the trend of live action cartoon movie adaptations for television).
After the last 30 episodes of Omniverse were burned up, airing at 5am each day with absolutely zero advertising of its return (to ensure low ratings, which would ensure a tax write-off), that was kind of it for the show… until one of the older CN employees who originally got the ball rolling on Ben 10 stuff ran into Sorcher and scoffed at its cancellation due to how INSANELY PROFITABLE it’s been for the network over the past decade. Thus, the reboot began development.
We got our first look at the reboot at the Annecy Festival in summer 2015 and (I *think*) it began airing internationally in 2016, then domestically in 2017.
TLDR; I would optimistically anticipate a press kit announcement around CN Upfront/Turner Upfront/Annecy around summer of 2022, and then some kind of premiere roughly one year following. Rule of thumb is, if you know it’s in development at the moment, you can expect to see it airing in at LEAST one years’ time from that point with TV animation.

Custom Toonami Block Week 70 Rundown
Code Geass: So Lelouch is gonna go join Nunally’s ‘let’s all hold hands and get along’ area but literally no one wants to go after Euphy murdered everyone last time. You’d think there’d be at least one dumbass like “Maybe it won’t be a massacre.” But yeah Zero’s like “Oh well I just happen to have a million people I can give to the zone if you exile me and let me go scott free” and everyone’s like “that’s a super shitty thing to do but okay” so then Zero tells Suzaku that culture is stored in the titty and all the one million people do their I am Spartacus thing and wear Zero’s costume which had to be a logistical nightmare, like Zero’s outfit already is pretty expensive with the fancy clothes and the helmet and shit and some of them are randomly customized even though that defeats the purpose like how do you do this on a terrorist budget in a few days without anyone in the government finding out. Like “we received an order for a million pounds of the thing used in Zero’s helmet on the black market” seems like it’d stand out. But yeah, the million Zeros get away, partially because of the “dogs playing basketball” rule that they’re all Zero because their culture of being Zero is stored in their titty which wouldn’t hold up in court but also because if they just kill a million people who’re just trying to leave that’d be bad for the government, not that they’re not used to genocide and being hated as Imperialists but Suzaku specifically doesn’t want that on his and Nunally’s hands while they’re trying to actually do shit for Japan for once. Feel like there’s probably a good cause for peaceful detainment and not letting them just walk out but it’s not like they’d find Lelouch or whoever the supposed second Zero was anyway even if they strip-searched everyone since he was never there and if it isn’t Lelouch the only thing that makes him Zero sight-wise is the mask.
Inuyasha: So yeah we get the conclusion of Shiori’s story for Inuyasha and I just can’t help thinking about how nice it is that she went on to help a lot of other half-demons in Yashahime because of an act of kindness that Inuyasha showed her right here, really good ripple effect shit. But yeah Shiori gets pissed that her grandpa killed her dad and Kekkaishi YEETs him and his followers out of the barrier so Inuyasha can backlash wave the lot of them. We still got fifteen minutes left though so even after Inuyasha says he’s not going to murder a little girl for a powerup that’ll get power crept in a few seasons, Shiori offers him the blood coral crystal to break to give him the powerup instead as thanks for not fucking murdering her. We can’t have the climax of the episode just be Inuyasha smacking a crystal ball though so Taigokumaru’s spirit yeets itself out of the crystal and fights with Inuyasha and attacks Shiori but her dad makes a barrier to bounce him off of so Inuyasha can kill him a second time and get the Red Tessaiga. There’s some navelgazing about how life as a half demon is rough but how Inuyasha thinks that hardship will be good for Shiori and he’s rooting for her in his own way and in Yashahime we see he’s right and all in all that’s pretty nice. Anyway next time we have the Panther Demon filler arc which is honestly probably one of my favorite filler arcs in Inuyasha so that’ll be fun.
Yu Yu Hakusho: Yusuke continues his fight with Suzaku and Suzaku splits himself into seven, which this doesn’t seem to be the Multi-Form or Shadow Clones deal where it divides his energy, each one seems as strong as the original so that’s just kind of broken. Keiko pulls a bait and switch on the zombies which neither Suzaku nor Yusuke see coming despite watching the whole thing on Spirit TV, guess Suzaku had the camera point at the door instead of on Keiko for some reason even though the point is to make Yusuke watch her die. Anyway Yusuke flashes back to Genkai telling him he’s a little bitch that always doubts himself and splits his energy across multiple plans instead of having the confidence to go for something with everything he has and make it work instead of holding back in case it doesn’t. This and remembering his mom crying over his death and all the relationships he’s formed makes him go Super Saiyan in what I can only describe as a Fully Body Shotgun which I don’t think ever comes up again. He knocks down all the Suzakus but it’s just time to start the real fight since Yusuke’s lifted his limiter again like he does in every fight.
Fate Zero: So the clusterfuck in the middle of Saber and Lancer’s battle continues to grow as Iskandar just fucking dares everyone to come at him and five of the seven servants actually do. Gilgamesh is all like “Ugh, why do I have to do this shit, breathing sucks, I’m a king, someone breathe for me.” And tries to murder everyone with spears and shit but turns out Berserker is Darth Vader this time around and uses the force to steal his stolen weapons until Rin’s dad is all like “Dude you’re showing the whole world our fucking moveset, get the fuck out of there. Which given that Gilgamesh is an archer which are supposed to be independent and he’s a fucking snobby asshole, even with a Command Seal I’m surprised that worked. Also Waver’s racist teacher is all “hah wow, I was supposed to have Rider and the token teenager character stole it from me” and Iskandar’s like “I like this kid that’s ride or die with me even though he cries all the time way more than someone who doesn’t even step onto the battlefield you stuck up prick” and then Lancer and Berserker double-team Saber (giggity) and Lancer’s not happy about it because he was fighting Saber first and doesn’t wanna just jump her with Darth Vader but more Command Seals are thrown around until Iskander runs over Darth Vader with his fucking Lightning Chariot and that’s kind of shitty because Racist Teacher man wasted a Command Seal to have Lancer attack Saber for like five seconds before making him retreat. Bug Dude is also kinda freaked out that Berserker just kinda went for Saber meaning she must be pretty pissed at Saber about something anyway so basically everyone runs away and nothing is really accomplished, we didn’t even really need Kiritsugu’s sniper shit or Assassins’s Ninja Bullshit for this everyone’s just had enough and goes home. Also Caster is a creepy yandere simp for Saber but really who isn’t in this series.
Konosuba: So Aqua’s ready to sit in a lake for a few hours to make some money but for the first time in her live her divine booty is not enough to solve this problem. She gets traumatized by getting attacked by demon alligators and Kazuma and co. are honestly uncharacteristically worried about her and ready to try and help her. Meanwhile generic isekai protagonist has a crush on Aqua despite already having his own harem of bland girls and wants to steal Aqua back but basically the whole group is so totally anti-White Knight they can see right through his shit and turn him down. Kazuma beats him up in the most Kazuma way possible and steals his magic sword, proving that not only is he not doing anything to defeat the devil king but he’s actively sabotaging those that are. Aqua fucking decks the guy and blackmails him so she’s rich now and Kazuma’s rich from selling his OP Isekai Cheat Sword. Also the Dullahan dude is back for revenge about bombing his castle and Kazuma’s like “Wait were we still doing that? Thought we stopped, oh well everyone in this world’s problems are our fault somehow so it sounds about right.”
Sailor Moon Crystal: So this time we get Makoto’s story who’s probably my favorite thus far because her job is punching shit and making sure Usagi doesn’t die from the hundreds of things ready to hit her on a daily basis. I have sort of found a redeeming trait for Usaig in that she’s willing to reach out to anyone and everyone, like she’s not what I would call traditionally ‘nice’ but she is friendly and that ability to pull disparate people together does kind of make more sense for why she’d be the leader rather than the other girls who have useful but more specific talents. But yeah continuing with the trend of things teen girls like trying to destroy the world, haunted bridal shop that also reveals Makoto’s tragic backstory of being a more believable version of Tall Girl. Makoto transforms and beats up the Bride lady with a combination of Zenbonzakura Kageyoshi and Azula’s lightning bending, no fair that she gets two powers but I guess she is the tough one so it make sense. Now we’ve basically got the whole crew except for the one that we already know is active but hasn’t joined the group yet so we’ll see how this goes.
Durarara!!: So Mikado’s in deep shit after stealing the girl away that half the town is looking for, all because he has it hammered into his head that whenever a girl asks for his help he has to give it. There’s a bit of discussion about the nature of the Dollars that I’m sure won’t be important later but both Izaya and Celty show up outside Mikado’s school and he’s kind of in an awkward position since there’s nowhere he can really go but home and lead them to the girl. So he decides to find out about them, or at least Celty, Izaya’s just kinda along for the ride. He gets Celty’s backstory and agrees to take her to the other girl only to get jumped by Yagiri thugs and pull out some Death Note animation internet shit that has even Izaya stunned, Mikado about to actually become the main character of this anime for a bit.

We’ve gotten a lot of interest and a lot of questions about this zine project, so we thought we’d provide an update on who we are and where we’re trending based on initial feedback.
Our team lead / head mod for this effort is @lifeaftermeteor. She’s been a fan of Gundam Wing since the initial airing on Toonami nearly 20 years ago and has been an active contributor in the fandom since 2014, producing playlists, fanfic, meta, and a slew of headcanons. She also wrangles (one of) the Gundam Wing Discord Servers alongside @amyole and @simulacraryn. She’s only recently gotten off of a four-month sprint working with 16 exceptional fans on the @acworldbuildingzine (which was released in May in all its 140-page glory) and is ready for more! Judging by brainstorming sessions with the last zine crew, she’s not alone. ;)
@rose--whip has been a fan of Gundam Wing since its debut on Toonami. Though not always active in the fandom, they have returned to the series in celebration of the 25th anniversary. In addition to joining forces with @lifeaftermeteor on this project, they also are head mod for @yuyuzine.
Gundam Wing has been a cornerstone for our fandom experience, and we expect it’s been much the same for all of you. We want to celebrate this milestone year and do something special for the show’s 25th anniversary with all of you: as a family, as a team, as a fandom.
@roscwhip posted an interest check trying to see if there was an interest among the fandom to do a 25th anniversary zine. As it turns out, @lifeaftermeteor had been ginning up a similar zine project with the folks on the Discord Server. Rather than duplicate efforts, we’ve opted to combine forces and produce an exceptional product that pulls in as many corners of the fandom that we can reach.
What’s that mean in practice? Well… more content! Based on initial discussions this spring, we’re aiming at two zine products. The primary zine will be a “milestones/history/celebration” focus; the “bonus” zine will leverage feedback from the interest check and be focused on that chosen theme. In both instances we plan to cast a wide net for content creation and participation!
Right now, we are also looking at this project resulting in a FREE PDF digital release and will work with contributors to determine a (list of) charity organization(s) which we would encourage folks donate to should they be able to do so. This is what the community did for the @acworldbuildingzine, and we think it was a really good idea.
As energized and excited as we are about this project, we can’t do it alone! We’re going to be looking for some fellow mods to help shoulder the burden and will be posting a Mod Application form on July 1. Once we have full team on deck, we’ll be able to follow up with more fidelity on everything from timelines to content parameters. Stay tuned!! And don’t forget about the interest check!

Toonami Night Review: A Night of Flashbacks, Farewell August 2017!
Ladies and gentleman, the last Toonami run for August 2017 has come to past, and it was a blast! As we continue to get settled in with our new lineup, and summer comes to a close, we add another night to our memories. A night of fun, humor, and maybe a little bit of feels.
There was also a trend of flashbacks among the shows last night. From a fun flashback of young Bulma joy riding Jaco’s ship, to a touching moment flashback of Ymir and Historia during training. Not to mention a bad ass flashback of Goemon slicing a dictator in half, as well as a sort of flashback filler of young Naruto and crew going on a treasure hunt (the treasure being friendship).
Of course there was plenty of tragic flashbacks as well. Tragic flashbacks such as Jean Pierre Polnareff’s sister getting murdered by a killer with two right hands, Yoshimura’s backstory as a ghoul assassin that lost both his wife and child, and of Gene Starwind’s traumatic childhood of his father’s death.
Yep, gotta love it when Toonami ends up with an unintentional recurring theme during its run. But I digress, it’s getting late, and I’m getting tired. So let’s wrapped this up with a recap!
Dragon Ball Super: Bulma heads off to get answers from strange men with big heads, Jaco actually does his job for once, and Vegeta worries about Jaco doing any funny business to his feisty scientist wife.
DBZ Kai: Buu continues his rampage, some lives are restored via Dragon Balls, and Goku and the gang reunite at Kami’s look out.
Stardust Crusaders: Avdol and his Stand take on Polnareff’s Stand, and beats the Frenchman honorably. After JoJo removes the mind control bug on his head, Polnareff soon joins as a new member of the Stardust Crusaders.
Tokyo Ghoul: As the calml before the storm begins to pass, Yoshimura and his top two employees begin preparing to close down the shop and move their friends to somewhere safe, before the CCG has its investigators raid the cafe.
Hunter x Hunter: As Lady Bisky continues to train Gon and Killua in Nen, as well as explain the history of Rock/Paper/Scissors, a mad bomber of sorts tries to extort spell cards for himself and his henchman from the other players. And if that’s not enough, the rest of the Phantom Troupe have arrived on Greed Island.
Lupin the Third: In the past, Goemon and a bunch of other assassins had been hired by an Italian politician Flago to kill an African dictator, and his bodyguard/sniper Zora. During the assassination, the samurai befriends a young sniper by the name of Belladonna, and together they take down their targets.
Cut to the present, each of those assassins hired years ago are being taken done by a sniper, assumed to be Zora still alive. But as Goemon searches for him, he discovers that it was not the old sniper that he been killing off everyone else, but Belladonna under orders of Flago.
While Belladonna does have the chance to kill the samurai, she couldn’t go through killing her friend, and leaves him. Later, Goemon goes to rescue her, cutting down many of Flago’s men in the process. Upon finding him, Flago has Belladonna under his control via a bomb in her chest.
Planning on having his “doll” shoot Goemon, Flago is instead shot down by Belladonna, causing the countdown to begin. With not much time left, Goemon tries to remove the bomb with his sword, but Belladonna protests that she’s not worth saving.
But despite Belladonna’s protests, it doesn’t stop Goemon from breaking his promise to look out for her. And in one swift stroke, the samurai removes the bomb from her chase, just before it detonates. Both having survived, Goemon goes back to Lupin, while Belladonna moves on with her life.
Naruto Shippuden: The continuation and conclusion of the old Naruto filler, with Naruto and the others learning a valuable lesson from the Fourth Hokage’s Legacy, which was nothing more than a training exercise set up by Might Guy to hone their skills.
Outlaw Star: As Melfina wakes up from her long slumber, Gene and the others defend her from pirates, and manage to take off into space via Hilda’s dropship. After docking with Hilda’s main ship Horus, they then head to the asteroid outpost, Blue Heaven, to get repairs and resupply. During their stay, Gene and Hilda run into trouble with some thugs while Jim looks after Melfina, and two are soon cornered by a mech wielding a torch.
Attack on Titan: As Ymir in titan form defends Krista and the others from the titans, the stone tower collapses, and the 104th cadets jump onto the titan shifter for dear life. As it falls, Ymir gets everyone to safety, but is soon attacked by titans that survived the crumbling stone tower.
Krista tries to save her, but is almost eaten herself. Fortunately, Mikasa and the rest of the Scouts arrives to take down the remaining titans. Afterwards, Krista sits by the injured Ymir’s side, revealing to her her real name, Historia.
And that’s it for the recap! Next Toonami is on a holiday weekend once again, so that means another night of marathons. This time it’s a marathon of DBZ Kai, following the recent episodes of the Majin Buu saga. So if you had missed any episodes, or want to get another chance at cracking jokes during your live blog, don’t miss out on the event this coming Saturday night.
And lastly before ending this review, hopes and prayers to those dealing with Tropical Storm Harvey. I noticed some of the other live bloggers in our Toonami tumblr community weren’t able to watch last night, and I hope they and their families are and will be alright as the storm continues.
Until next time, hope you all have a good week, and Stay Gold!

Season 15 Of One Piece Is Not Returning To Toonami
Well there were rumors lately about the releasing something about the season 15 of the One Piece Manga. And many anime and Japanese manga lovers was excited about this. Because as we know One Piece is an all time favorite Japanese Manga since 1997 and up until now many kids and adults are still hook with this Manga even if we are already 2019. Imagine that 22 years of existing of the Manga World and never goes out of style or trend of the people’s eyes.
So now we are going to get down about the news that is plentiful more often than not, and it can be difficult sorting through what’s what. The unfortunate proliferation of fake news has managed to infect the fandom as rumors try their best to become fact. So, we need to know which is which and was it fake or legit. So let’s get basis of the Toonami report...
No, One Piece is not set to return to the late night block. Sorry for the inconvenience though!
Recently, reports began cropping up online after a reported press release from Funimation was made public. The piece said One Piece was slated to make a Toonami return with season 15, and fans were asked to stay tuned for details about its premiere date. And fans are really on hook by this and constantly waiting.
The staff at Toonami Faithful also received this press release. So Toonami news reached out to the Funimation to confirm whether is it real or not. This press released was shared to several online forums as well as news sites before a staffer with Toonami News reached out to Funimation for comment.
And the result were .. “The staff at Toonami Faithful also received this press release. We reached out to FUNimation and was told this is fake,” CJ Maffris shared. So as you can see there were evidence or testimony from a liable source that season 15 has no premier date and it is not releasing.
So when the press knew about this they release and blasted out fake news in order that fans would be alarm and stop waiting for nothing. There are no plans to bring back One Piece to Toonami at the moment, and fans admit they are not surprised to hear this news while still disappointed. After all, the press release did have a couple major discrepancies which made fans double take. For instance, the anime’s synopsis for season 15 does not align with the one Funimation fans are familiar with, and no official announcement was shared on the legit social media pages.
Now, fans know that never happened because there’s no truth behind the report. For now, Toonami will remain without the Straw Hat crew as Monkey D. Luffy prepares to tackle a new anime arc this summer. And that will keep the fans heads up for the moment.
Eiichiro Oda's One Piece first began serialization in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in 1997. It is already in 80 volumes collected so far, and has been a critical and commercial success worldwide with many of the volumes breaking printing records in Japan. The manga has even set a Guinness World Record for the most copies published for the same comic book by a single author, and is the best-selling manga series worldwide with over 430 million copies sold. The series still ranked number one in manga sales in 2018, which surprised fans of major new entries.
So therefore to conclude, NO ONE PIECE SEASON 15 IS ANNOUNCED TO BE RELEASED YET OR PUBLISH.

How I would do Dragonball Super
I’m 40+ episodes into Dragon Ball Super on Toonami and it’s mostly not very good. But there are some elements of it that I do enjoy, so I’m going to write down how I would do the series if I was in charge.
- I won’t get bogged down thinking about how I would do it from scratch, no one would want to read that anyway. It’d just be fanfiction. I’m going to use what we already have as a base. - The overarching thing connecting most of the plots in Super is the focus on gods and the higher workings of the DB universe. This is a good idea. There’s always been sort of an upward trend of that through the entire franchise, where we start thinking Shenron is a sort of god, then meeting Kami and Piccolo who are like god and the devil, learning how heaven works at the beginning of Z, and so on until we get to Supreme and Elder Kai. This works especially because the power levels at the end of Z are so high that it feels right that we need to go into those higher strata and eventually into other universes to find higher power levels. - Starting from there, I’m going to go through the whole show and say what I would keep and not keep.
- So, for Battle of Gods, I like that Goku never actually matches Beerus’s power. It sets a goal for him to continually get to throughout Super and it feels very cosmic. What I don’t like is the lack of explanation about almost anything interesting that’s introduced here. Heck, there’s explanations for things that we didn’t need, like how Beerus met Vegeta’s dad, but there’s no explanation on how the Saiyans have this insane ritual that lets them become gods. - Remember how Dragonball Z was much more serious than Dragonball? Well, the change from DBZ to my DB Super is that a lot more is explained. There’s more mythology, so we can explain where all these super high power levels come from. They can’t just get away with having them go higher and higher with no real change in how they train, or no explanation for how Super Saiyan God works. That’s one of the most annoying things about Super to me. They just throw any real sense of progression out the window. It’s almost like a challenge to the writers: So you want to make a new Dragonball series. How do you justify having powers continually grow beyond their already insane amounts (there’s a hint of this in the Buu arc, where almost every powerup in that arc is due to magic)? I think that warrants explanation, and I myself am explaining this choice a lot because I know it’s kind of controversial to think of DB with a bunch of exposition. But think how much cooler Super Saiyan God would be if it got more buildup than “I heard this thing exists?” and then asking Shenron about it? What if Bulma actually had to do some kind of intergalactic research about this, like she does a bit later in the show? The Saiyans need to have some concrete connection with the gods in order for SSG to be a thing. There’s talk in that arc about “Divine Power” and it seems to almost be different from regular power. That’s never explored, but it’s interesting.
Surprise Note: Between the time I started writing this and the time I posted it, Toriyama actually tried to explain a little bit about Super Saiyan God in an interview, which is amazing. However, the explanation is more related to the original SS form, and also is about as good as the one I come up with here, so I’m keeping the following in the post. The Saiyans are this race that are wildly amazing warriors, turn into giant monkeys, and get stronger every time they heal from injuries. What if there was a battle-obsessed Kai a long time ago who made this race somehow, and SSG was invoking his spirit? That doesn’t sound too complicated, right? - You can keep the ritual itself and especially Videl’s involvement, which is the most creative thing in Super thus far. You can keep the cruise ship setting because that’s new and interesting. You can even keep Pilaf’s involvement because why not. - We need to explain why Goku can still breathe in space and retain the god power after it supposedly runs out, or just have it not run out at all. We need to change the scene where Beerus hits Bulma, because it doesn’t really amount to anything except another declaration from Vegeta that he loves his family, which we know. That could easily be a smaller more subtle moment where he simply takes that hit for her without saying anything. And we need to change those weird-ass energy waves created by Goku and Beerus clashing that threaten to destroy the world or universe or whatever. Those were so stupid. Where did they come from? Why do we never see them again? They’re unneeded because this arc should be about Goku proving himself and realizing how much further there is still to ascend. And Beerus threatening to destroy the world is enough, we don’t need these energy waves. - One final thing we need to get into is what exactly being a Destroyer means. I don’t mind them existing, but we need to get into what the Kais do that counteracts the destroying - do they create new worlds? - And we need to understand how it is that Beerus can seemingly stop destroying anything after this arc, when that’s supposedly his purpose. In one of the more recent episodes that aired on Toonami, Zeno actually says that it is their purpose to destroy. So why aren’t they doing it anymore? Yes, it would be weird to have him still running around destroying entire civilizations in a show with a light tone like this, but that’s just something that needs to be reconciled with what we know about Beerus. We saw him destroying planets early on in the show, and that was also weirdly lighthearted when it should be a bigger deal. You can’t just introduce a character who blows up billions of people every day and treat it like it ain’t no thing. So just, figure that stuff out I guess. - I don’t have too many problems with the beginning of the Golden Frieza arc. It’s fine to have a plotline focusing around Pan’s birth. I would say the Mr. Satan stuff is unneeded - it’s yet another story about him being confused for being stronger than he is. Just have him be more involved in the Pan storyline, he’s her grandfather after all. Mr. Satan can be funny without doing that one thing. -I don’t mind that Whis trains Vegeta and Goku either. It’s kind of a cool twist to have him be Beerus’s teacher, and gives you the idea that there’s stuff about the higher workings of the universe that still have yet to be explained (and of course, at this point, there are). I think Beerus should also still be relatively hostile to Goku and Vegeta at this point, because I assume we don’t want to make him not a destroyer, so the other option is that he’s still planning to go around destroying at this point, which means he should be less quick to be friends with them. This isn’t too hard to do since he’s a pretty ornery guy anyway. But the training itself needs to be more interesting. They get into this a little bit, with Whis teaching them to move without taking the time to sense ki and stuff. There should be more unique methods and things like that - these are crazy levels of power, it has to be unorthodox. Also, if we’re going to do Super Saiyan Blue in this arc (and I’m not sure that we will), hint at that a little bit beforehand. - Don’t show Champa and Vados so early though. They distract from the main threat this arc, and sort of make you want it to end so you can see what’s up with them. Or actually, maybe you could show them and...Hold on, I’ll get to this in a minute. - So, Frieza. Some stuff about his reintroduction can be improved. In Super, he just has some remnants of his army running around, and they use the Dragonballs to wish for pieces of his body, and then reform him using technology. I just feel like this should be more hard-fought. I see why the Dragonballs need to be used, so we can keep those. But instead of his army just running around in a ship somewhere, we should see what it’s like still pledging your life to this dead empire. What have they been doing in the many intervening years? Are they space pirates? Do they recruit people? Are they viewed as something like a cult on other planets? Let’s see how far they had to come to get to this point. Then, after they use the Dragonballs, they shouldn’t just be able to get Freiza into tip-top shape just like that. Maybe once they revive him he’s in a much weaker, almost emaciated state, and has to train harder than ever to even get back to how strong he was before. And yes, we’re removing that stupid bit about Freiza never having to had to train before. The dude had three different forms to conserve his power because he had so much. You can say that he was born with some of that, but don’t say that he didn’t train at all. Since he’s weak, we can also have him be a bit more grateful to the people that revived him, and I’m either-or on whether he should still shoot Tagama or not because I tend not to like it when villains hurt their henchmen, having seen it eighty billion times in One Piece. So, now, instead of making a new form to conserve his power, he’s making a new form to attain higher power, which he’s never done before. Of course, we don’t know about Golden Freiza until he transforms into it later, but we can hint that that’s what he’s trying to do. I think we should see a little bit of his training, and that technology should be a big part of it. Instead of it completely reviving him to his former strength, it can revive him into a weaker form and then help him get back to normal, and further. He’d be like Ivan Drago from Rocky. Golden Frieza would be a testament to the power of technology, that it could be used to get Frieza to the level of gods. But if he comes back weaker, it could take him a long time to train. Longer than it takes in the show, which is already awhile. Maybe we could have something happen during his and Goku and Vegeta’s training. Maybe something like...A Tournament? - Yes, I’m thinking about putting the Beerus Vs. Champa arc here, before Frieza comes to earth and before Super Saiyan Blue. I don’t think it’s a terrible idea, though I’m not married to it. Let’s just think about it. - You would lose almost nothing by doing it. Don’t want to lose the surprise reveal of SS Blue during the Frieza fight? No one said putting the tournament before it meant that Goku uses that instead of Kaio-Ken at the end. Just make him use the Kaio-Ken with regular SS God. It’s a Super Red Super Saiyan, and you still get your surprise reveal. Frieza’s eventual comeback may only be made more interesting by having Frost show up before him (or before he comes to Earth in any case). Seeing who is essentially a more powerful Frieza get put down easily by Vegeta shows you how far our Frieza has to go. It’s not too important that Jaco’s introduction is when it is, he’s not that good of a character anyway. Introducing the revelation of multiple universes and King Zeno’s promise of a tournament in the future might serve to make viewers impatient during Frieza’s return, but I’m pretty sure Goku Black doesn’t have much to do with the Tournament of Power either, so why not two arcs that don’t? The Frieza thing is pretty short anyway. - I don’t really know if there’d be a net gain from putting this tournament where it is. I think part of why I want to do it is so we can have more time with SS God before it stops being used completely. And after the tournament arc, Goku and Vegeta continue to train with Whis and everything continues like normal. So, it’s just something to think about. I’ll get to what I would change about the 6&7 Tournament later. First I have a few more things to say about Frieza. - I think the leadup to the Frieza fight itself should generally be more intresting but I’m not sure how. It’s just a battle with a bunch of Frieza’s henchmen, and Tagama is the only one that really gives them any trouble. Even just having the army attack a city instead of some random place would be more interesting. - Since it might seem like I’m being pretty hard on the series here I just want to say that a lot of Frieza’s dialogue is really good. At least (maybe especially) in the dub. He has a lot of really great and funny lines about how pissed off he is. I hope Chris Ayres can recover quick and continue voicing the character because I know he shows up again. I also like the hell Frieza was in. That can stay also. - The main thing I want changed about Resurrection F is that it should be Vegeta’s big win. Super tries to use Vegeta well, I can tell, but they still don’t use him the right way. This second Frieza fight is his opportunity to have a real win, against the guy that destroyed his planet no less. I know this is something some fans wanted when the movie came out, and I agree with them. The whole time reversal thing is bullcrap the writers did so they could have both Vegeta AND Goku win, but that’s not really how it works. Goku’s win is second, Goku’s win is final, so it’s Goku’s win in the end. No. Keep the time reversal and switch their roles, or do something else, I don’t know. Vegeta should deal the final blow here. - Golden Frieza could probably be changed a bit. Make him look slightly different, or make it so it’s made of nanites or something, like a weird upgrade of Cyborg Frieza. I don’t mind the gold and purple coloring itself though. - Piccolo dying is a bit overdone, also. Kill Kr- wait he died twice. Kill Yam- wait he also died twice. Kill Tien. - The arc isn’t that long so there’s not much more to comment on. Moving on. - Okay, so let’s talk about the 6&7 tournament now that we’re at the point where it is in the real Super. - Surprise: I don’t mind Monaka. This is actually pretty funny because I was under the impression that he was actually a strong fighter, because when these episodes first aired my friends showed me a picture of him on the wiki and said “This guy is supposed to be stronger than Goku!” He’s a gag character and he doesn’t hurt anybody, so whatever. - But I really don’t like Zuno-sama. The only saving grace of that whole episode is them randomly running into the dine-and-dashing frogman that Jaco was looking for. The rest of the episode is mean jokes about Bulma being old and other uselessness. Zuno lives on this weird planet that’s shaped like some piece of Japanese esoterica that makes no sense, and he knows all. Why? We don’t know. He’s lame and Bulma can just learn about the Super Dragonballs some other way. - The Super Dragonballs are fine, though it’s a bit weird that they’re used this early on. I guess they’ll probably be used again in the final arc? And where did these things even come from? It’s said that the Namekian ones were carved from these, but I thought that Kami created the Earth dragonballs - shouldn’t that mean Guru the Namekian elder created the Namekian ones, with magic or something? This isn’t something I necessarily want explained, but it is weird. - Goku should use his other Super Saiyan forms more. These are cool-looking forms, let’s see them. Goku’s in base form for most of this. Why? - I don’t really mind the fights and fighters from this arc. The first guy could maybe be replaced with someone more interesting, but everyone else is cool. Frost’s thing where he seems nice and turns out to be evil is good. There are some pretty good wins for Vegeta this arc, though they didn’t quite satisfy me as I said previously. The Cabba fight, especially, is another “Vegeta is cool/cares about stuff” moment that isn’t handled as well as it could be. The audience actually thinking Vegeta might be turning evil again is so damn stupid. I don’t really like the alternative - the classic battle shonen thing where the hero’s friends deduce his true actions and nod their heads and smile knowingly - but these people know Vegeta pretty well by now, it’s been like two decades since the Frieza arc where he started to turn good. There doesn’t need to be any real tension here. This fight is like a break from the tension. - The Magetta battle is pretty good, though I have no idea if you were supposed to understand what he was saying most of the time. I guess that’s a dub issue. - And then we come to Hit. Hit’s cool, but his look needs an update. He’s just a purple man in some clothes. Give him some tattoos, or something. Some indication that this guy has been through a lot. Also, as the strongest man from his universe, assassin is a pretty interesting job for him. He could be pretty much anything he wanted, so I wonder if there’s a story behind that. - And his ability is also pretty cool, but it was weird - he essentially uses it to close the distance between him and an enemy, right? But when he’s going, like, half a second or one second, well, that’s probably more than it would take him to just fly to the enemy....I’m not really sure how it works. Is it like King Crimson from Jojo? Maybe just make this a little more clear. Also have it so his body gets pretty effed up when he continues improving it near the end of the fight. That’s gotta take a toll on him. But I don’t really need an explanation for how he learned it or anything. It’s just one of those weird abilities that a single character will have in Dragonball. - Goku’s way of winning the fight is fine I guess. Though, it’s weird that he went Kaio Ken x20 when fighting Frieza, but now x3 or 4 is okay. If we’re putting this arc before Golden Frieza, I definitely think that having him just do Kaio Ken with regular SSG is a better move than having him go Blue right there. - Grand Zeno can be introduced here, but maybe make it after the Super Dragonballs are used? It kind of depends on which one you consider more important. Just something to think about. - The Super Dragon should look slightly different. Its design is fine but its arms especially are weird. At the current point, we’re one episode after that, which was a fillerish episode where Goku fought Beerus who was disguised as Monaka. I don’t know if I would make that a full episode, but it’s not insulting enough for me to be mad about it or anything. The show, to its credit, does try to involve side characters a fair amount. It’s not surprising that this is the Goku and Vegeta show at this point, so I’m not going to complain that I want to see others more - I do personally wish Uub could have been in this series, but I understand why they set it when they did, too. Obviously though, there’s still one elephant in the room: The show looks kinda bad most of the time. It’s regular Toei crap, where even though they should be able to hire the best in the biz, they hire people who don’t seem to care that much. It’s lame. The show just looks kind of glossy most of the time which kind of hurts it. The old anime had this sort of rough look to it that a lot of old anime have, and it might partially be nostalgia that I like that better,t surely they could have tried to be evocative of that here, in HD? I don’t know. The show could definitely look better and be better animated. There should be effects everywhere to showcase the massive power levels. And maybe, just maybe, the characters could.....look a little closer to their actual age. Just a little, maybe!!! I dunno. That’s it. Thanks for reading.

“Usagi, I need you to listen to me. Strange things are happening in the city. Even the Police can't handle what's going on. A dangerous enemy has appeared. You're the only one who can defeat this enemy. You're the guardian that's been chosen for this mission. But there's more than just that. you also have to find the other Guardians and our Princess.” - Luna, Sailor Moon (Ep. 01)
The Toonami Trending Rundown for May 31 and June 1-2, 2024. For the first time since April 15, 2004, Toonami would return to airing on a weekday timeslot on Fridays with Toonami Rewind as part of Adult Swim’s expansion to 5pm to showcase classic Cartoon Network programming. The inaugural lineup featured the return of Sailor Moon to Toonami for the first time in 23 years alongside an hour of DBZ Kai and OG Naruto.
And fans on social media responded very positively to Toonami Rerun’s debut. On Twitter, #ToonamiRewind trended in the USA alongside Sailor Moon and DBZ Kai.
Meanwhile on the regular Toonami late night lineup, Zom 100 returned from its three-week hiatus, and Demon Slayer begun its rerun of the Entertainment District arc in the meantime. In terms of trends, #Toonami trended in the USA on Twitter alongside My Adventures with Superman and Zom 100. #Toonami also trended on Tumblr.
This week’s feature was a game review of Dave the Diver, developed by Mintrocket studios. It received an 8.5 out of 10 score.

Despite the present upheaval at Warner Bros Discovery, the current success of Toonami was paramount to Cartoon Network and Adult Swim creating Toonami Rewind. According to Jason DeMarco on Blue Sky, “It was the network’s idea to try a second Toonami block since they are very happy with the performance of the Saturday night version. They wondered if a throwback Toonami would be interesting. We liked the idea!” And assuming things go well, Jason says he has “all kinds of cool plans to bring more shows in” including shows Toonami has aired in the past, Adult Swim action shows, western animated action classics and more.
Of course, that all depends on if people continue to watch Toonami Rewind every Friday as with regular Toonami every Saturday. So be sure to keep watching (or at least set your DVRs) and help contribute to the social media buzz if you’re into it. And as with any potential Toonami show, if you do wish to see a show air on Toonami or Toonami Rewind, feel free to let Toonami know on their Facebook page as well as letting Jason DeMarco know on his Bluesky @clarknova.bsky.social. It also doesn’t hurt to let your favorite show’s respective licensor(s) know (whether it’s Crunchyroll, Toei, Viz Media, and the like) on their respective social media outlets as well. On a related note, Jason DeMarco no longer posts on Twitter outside of “promotional information related to my work,” and has privatized his account (after previously deleting it) for archival purposes, so we’re not sure if he’ll still read any show requests and feedback that is sent to @clarknova1.
Finally, this past week was the birthday of yours truly, so I’d like to give a huge thank you to Jason, Steve, Dana, and everyone at Cartoon Network who are doing their part to rebuild the better cartoon show. as well as those that watch, record, and live tweet and blog this great block. No doubt that Toonami is the gift that keeps on giving and showing that hope springs eternal for the mainstream success of anime and action cartoons overall.

Guide to Toonami Trending: The reason I made this guide is so everyone will have a better understanding of why we try to trend shows every Saturday night during Toonami. First of all the reason we trend shows is to show the popularity and interest of the show which is counted toward ratings, when trending you use a hashtag in your tweet (Ex: #ShowName is on Toonami!) we only hashtag and trend the show name because that is what actually counts, in order for a show to better trend we all must use the same hashtag when tweeting, using different hashtags and multiple hashtags limits the ability of getting a show to trend, by everyone using different versions of hashtags we are just essentially fighting ourselves trying to get the shows trending, I see a lot of people using different versions of hashtags and that needs to stop, everyone needs to use the official hashtags that toonami uses. Rules for Trending: ONLY HASHTAG AND TREND THE SHOW NAME: EX: #DBZKai is on Toonami! 1. Don't over tag your tweets, only one hashtag per tweet, more than one hash tag makes a tweet spam and won't help with trending. Don’t used the same hash tag multiple times in the same tweet as it will be counted as spam. 2. Your tweet must be relevant to your hashtag, in other words don't tweet anything off topic with the hashtag or it will not be counted. Also hashtags cannot be tweeted by themselves are they will not be counted as well. 3. Do not repeatedly tweet the same tweet over and over as it will also be consider spam. 4. Your account must be public if it is private your tweets will not count toward trending, you can change your account back to private after Toonami is over if you wish to do so. 5. Retweeting does not count toward trending unless you quote/manually retweet the tweet. (Ex: “@Username: #ShowName is on Toonami!”) Submitting Trends: When submitting screens captures to @AnimeSavior or @ToonamiNews for the trending rundown you must make sure your trends list are set to United States or Worldwide, Tailored trends do not count as anything, so please make sure you trends list are set properly. TOONAMI TRENDING SCHEDULE: Here is the trending schedule. Remember: 1. Only use the hashtag for shows and no hashtag for Toonami. 2. This is for Eastern Time. Subtract 1 hour for your time zone. 8:00 pm: #DBZKai is on AdultSwim 11:00 PM - 12:00 AM: Tweet #WatchToonami. 12:00 AM: #DBZKai is on Toonami 12:30 AM: #KillLAKill is on Toonami 1:00 AM: #SwordArtOnlineII is on Toonami 1:30 AM: #InuYashaTheFinalAct is on Toonami 2:00 AM: #Shippuden is on Toonami 2:30 AM: #OnePiece is on Toonami 3:00 AM: #AttackOnTitan is on Toonami This about covers everything there is to know about Trending, Please read and share the trending schedule and guide, If you have any questions be sure to tweet me @JMB_70056 or @PaulPescrillo on twitter.

"The Earth just draw the attention of some of the most despicable beings the universe has to offer. If something isn't done soon, we could find ourselves in a lot of trouble. what can we do? We could try to wish our enemies away, but even the great Shenron might be powerless against their tremendous strength. Goku is the greatest Warrior the Earth has ever known. Yet to these Saiyans, he's nothing more than an inconvenience. I wonder if King Kai's instruction will even help? Until Goku returns, it seems Gohan is our best hope. He's young though, and there's so little time." - Kami, Dragon Ball Z Kai (Ep. 04)
The Toonami Trending Rundown for March 2-4, 9-10, and 16-17, 2024. The 27th anniversary of the better cartoon came on a somber note, as it was reported on March 8th that Akira Toriyama, the creator of the Dragon Ball franchise, had passed away on March 1st at the age of 68 due to acute subdural hematoma. Dragon Ball is considered to be Toonami’s greatest success story, as since DBZ first aired in the lineup back in 1999, the show led the charge to bring about the 90’s-2000’s anime boom and the overall popularity of anime in the west today.
And as the anime world paid their respects to a legend, Toonami fans celebrated the life and legacy of Toriyama the best way they knew how, by enjoying Dragon Ball Z on Toonami.
Toonami made a quick tribute to Toriyama during the night of March 9 as the news came on short notice for the Toonami staff. But for the following week on the night of March 16-17, following the regular schedule (save for One Piece and Naruto which took the night off), Toonami aired a marathon of the first eight episodes of DBZ Kai.
youtube
In regards to social media buzz, For the night of March 2-3, #Toonami trended in the United States on Twitter alongside Ninja Kamui, Demon Slayer, and Lycoris Recoil. #Toonami also trended on Tumblr alongside Naruto Shippuden. Later, on the night of March 9-10, #Toonami also trended alongside Ninja Kamui, Demon Slayer, and Lycoris Recoil; with #Toonami and Demon Slayer trending alongside the late Akira Toriyama, Dragon Ball Z, and DBZ. And on the night of March 16-17, #Toonami trended on Twitter alongside Ninja Kamui, Lycoris Recoil and DBZ Kai. #Toonami also trended on Tumblr.
As a bonus, this rundown includes a list of trends that occurred when we got the news of Toriyama’s passing to showcase his impact to the world. Besides Akira Toriyama, #Toonami and other Dragon Ball related content trended as fans made their tributes to Toriyama.
On a more positive note, on March 8, Viz Media and Toonami announced that Zom 100, the hit new anime series by Haro Aso and Kotaro Takata, will be airing on Toonami beginning this March 30, 2024 at 12:30 a.m. Zom 100 will be replacing Demon Slayer on the lineup, which will be going on hiatus from the block after completing the Entertainment District Arc the week before on March 23. There is no word when Toonami and Aniplex plan on airing the show’s next season, the Swordsmith Village Arc, at this time.
In an interview with Variety released on March 22, James Gibbons, President of Warner Bros Discovery’s Asia-Pacific division, revealed that WBD plans on increasing its anime output for 2024 and beyond, saying “We have a Japanese anime studio, which has been producing five or ten anime series per year, over the last few years. [...] We’ve approved expansion to take that to more than ten series per year.” How many of those titles Toonami itself will get to broadcast is yet to be seen, but it's a good sign that WBD remains committed to anime overall.
Tune in tonight for the finale of Demon Slayer’s Entertainment District Arc, among other great moments. Do note that as the season finale of Demon Slayer is 45 minutes long, every show after will air 15 minutes later than usual tonight. Stay gold as always, and Toriyama-san, may you rest in peace in the Other World and thank you for everything. Until we meet again.

“It’s an Oni [mask]. I heard they’re scary demons from Japan. Oni are big baddies, and they’re mean.” - Kyle Logan, Ninja Kamui (Ep. 01)

On Monday, Toonami revealed the schedule for the night of February 24th, announcing that DBZ Kai will be returning to the lineup at 2:30 a.m. EST. This also means that Toonami will be deferring airing the second season of IGPX remastered, as the season 1 finale will be airing tonight, February 17. In regards to if and when Toonami plans on airing it, Jose Argumedo, whom is in charge remastering the show, has said that: “Season 2’s done and turned into the network. Up to them when and if they want to air it.”
Not much else to say other than congratulations to the Kansas City Chiefs on winning back-to-back Super Bowl titles and their fourth overall, and we'll see you again next time for another round of the better cartoon show. Later.

“There's nothing guaranteeing tomorrow. We could die today or we could die 60 years from now. Either way there's never enough time to do everything we want. With that in mind...I'm gonna...” - Akira Tendou, Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead (Ep. 01)
The Toonami Trending Rundown for March 30-31, 2024.
With a zombie apocalypse striking Tokyo, Akira is freed from the toxic environment of his former job to complete his bucket list of things he wants to do, as Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead makes its premiere on Toonami.
On Twitter, #Toonami trended in the United States alongside Ninja Kamui, Zom 100, and Lycoris Recoil. #Toonami also trended on Tumblr.
This past Monday marked the 12th anniversary of “The Night no 90’s Kid Slept.” When on April Fools Day 2012, what was originally thought was another rerun of The Room turned out to be a sudden revival of Toonami after being cancelled for over four years. Thanks to incredible fan support, the block would be resurrected for real nearly two months later, which has now surpassed the lifespan of its original 1997-2008 run. Here’s to many more years of Toonami to come.

Last week, Toho Animation released a new trailer for the upcoming 7th season of My Hero Academia, which will begin airing on May 4th. You can see an English translated version of the trailer below. In addition, four special recap episodes titled My Hero Academia: Memories, will be airing weekly beginning on April 6 and through the weeks up to the season premiere. As with previous seasons, Crunchyroll will simulcast the new season and will be producing dubs for season 7.

Toho has also announced this morning that a new My Hero Academia film is also in the works. Titled “You’re Next”, the film will be premiering in Japanese theaters on August 2, 2024. Plans for a release stateside have yet to be revealed as of this writing.

On Tuesday, the anime world bid adieu to Funimation, as Sony has shut down the FunimationNow service (with funimation.com now redirecting to crunchyroll.com), completing its merger with Crunchyroll. Funimation is one of Toonami's long time media partners, going back as far as when DBZ first aired on the block in 1999.
And on that note, if you missed it, I posted an Op-Ed this week titled "The 2020’s Anime and Streaming Service Bubble Burst," as I look into the controversies regarding the Warner Bros Discovery merger, the Funimation-Crunchyroll merger, their respective effects on Toonami, and how what's going on with both could lead to another anime bubble burst, and one for streaming services overall.

“We did it! And we all lived to see it, too.” - Tanjiro Kamado, Demon Slayer: Entertainment District Arc (Ep. 11)
The Toonami Trending Rundown for March 23-24, 2024. This week marked the season finale of Demon Slayer, as Toonami aired the final episode of the Entertainment District Arc.
For this week’s social media buzz, #Toonami trended in the United States on Twitter alongside Ninja Kamui and Lycoris Recoil. Meanwhile, #Toonami also trended on Tumblr alongside Demon Slayer.
This week’s feature was the promo for Zom 100, which will air Saturdays at 12:30 a.m. EDT/PDT; taking over Demon Slayer’s spot on the lineup as that show goes on a hiatus. There is no word at this time when Toonami and Aniplex plans on airing Demon Slayer's next season, the Swordsmith Village Arc. Let’s hope that wait for season 3 isn’t as long as last time.

If you missed it, this week, I posted an Op-Ed on Toonami Squad titled "The 2020’s Anime and Streaming Service Bubble Burst," as I look into the controversies regarding the Warner Bros Discovery merger, the Funimation-Crunchyroll merger, their respective effects on Toonami, and how what's going on with both could lead to another anime bubble burst, and one for streaming services overall.
I’m unfortunately running a bit late on Trending Rundowns, so expect the March 30-31 edition to be posted tomorrow. Until next time, stay gold as always.
