My dad was Bruce-ing again today.
Dad: Where are your keys? I'm gonna go put more air in your tire.
Me: I already filled it up this week.
Dad: Oh okay.
Dad goes upstairs for a second and comes back with a bag in his hand.
Dad: Here, take this poncho and put it in your glove compartment. In case you have to pull over in the rain, put it on so other cars can see you.
So then I took my new bright ass orange poncho to my car, bypassing the three water bottles my dad had stuffed in the door pocket as well as the emergency phone battery pack charger he stuffed in another pocket.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Cauldron burn and fire bubble.
Fillet of a Harlem Shake,
In The Attic, The Light doth bake;
Eye of tower and prince of frog,
Breadstick purse and bark of dog,
Blitzo's fork and fish-sword swing,
Metta's leg and Mothman's wing,
For battery acid of powerful trouble,
Like ,' , |,'_' boil and bubble.
Trouble, double soil and bubble;
Cow Tools burn and Elphaba bubble.
Cool it with YMCA's blood,
Then the spaghetti is firm and gun.

Bluey Merch: 6V Ride On Car
I see the November issue of the Bluey magazine includes this ad for a kids ride-on car.

Maybe this will make its way into the Power Wheels modding community… for those who want Muffin-level performance…

oh also funny thing happened to me yesterday. neighbor came over to ask for an allen wrench so he could remove the core charge on his car's battery (immediately made me go ? but whatever) anyways I was rifling through my dads tool cart trying to find his allen wrenches and this guy is right next to me and eventually he goes oh HERE they are :) [he proceeds to pick up a socket wrench (makes much more sense than an allen wrench in this situation)] he then proceeds to try to explain to me how taking a car battery out of a car works (something I know how to do). He's a nice enough guy it was just a funny situation.

when i was younger i fully internalised that i had learned helplessness but struggled to find real solutions because probably i was just poor with little to no resources or support. but going through my old stuff makes me wonder sometimes if maybe i was just stupid. i bought a wiimote at the flea market and couldn't get it to work but i kept it in case i could fix it later. just started troubleshooting it one last time so i can finally throw it out but. it simply works. did i not know how to sync it? i desperately wanted it to work. i didn't have the money to buy a second wiimote online and didn't know how to fix this one so i simply only had one wiimote and me and my friend had to take turns. but the whole time it just worked? 🫨 was i stupid??

standing by the baking supplies looking at dinosaur sprinkles while your dad starts contemplating the battery powered circular saw or whatever immediately behind you is the reason lidl is more fun than sainsbury’s

when considering buying power tools or really anything that's using rechargeable batteries
you need to realize that most manufacturers of such things consider the tool itself to be something that motivates battery sales
the customer thinks the tool is the expensive part, but really for the most part you buy the tool and you're going to be investing in a set of batteries
it's quite common that you'll end up with two or three batteries so that you're certain to be able to use the tool without major interruption
the good thing is that if you end up with multiple tools using the same battery set (save brand basically, like dewalt, ryobi, etc) you don't need 2-3 batteries for each tool - you'll find at some point that four or five is enough even if you have six compatible tools, since you really can't use more than one tool at the same time (or two, counting a helper)
still though the batteries don't last forever, and the sellers are hoping to get you hooked on their battery, so if there's a new tool you need then you'll just default to the same battery system... and once you have a few of their tools, if you're finding that the batteries only last a couple years? well it's too late, are you really going to ditch all of those tools that use that shitty battery?
no, you're going to roll over and just buy another
so my point is
when buying tools
consider the cost of the batteries because especially if you're just starting on your tools, you're quickly going to need two maybe three more batteries
and if you're looking at a rechargeable tool and you can't take the battery out
that's a sign that like a macbook replacing the battery is going to cost an arm and a leg, register

Oh goddamnitalltohell.
My phone needs a new battery after a little over a year. This one is beginning to expand a little. It will cost as much as a new phone to repair.
I fucking miss my old phone. All that one needed was to pop off the back, and I could replace the battery myself. I did when the old one started not taking a charge.
These anti repair electronics suck.
I want the right to repair again!
