My dad was Bruce-ing again today.

Dad: Where are your keys? I'm gonna go put more air in your tire.

Me: I already filled it up this week.

Dad: Oh okay.

Dad goes upstairs for a second and comes back with a bag in his hand.

Dad: Here, take this poncho and put it in your glove compartment. In case you have to pull over in the rain, put it on so other cars can see you.

So then I took my new bright ass orange poncho to my car, bypassing the three water bottles my dad had stuffed in the door pocket as well as the emergency phone battery pack charger he stuffed in another pocket.

Lrb honestly one of the most important things I've learned in this fandom is to not worry about "being annoying" or "worrying people".

I've been asking literally every person I could think of, to the point I should earn infamy amongst Soulsborne dataminers as that autist you really hope you won't attract the attention of XD And yet, one person DID answer my request for checking every Dark Souls 1 NPC properly and clarifying the three that supposedly don't have faces! Not only Rayan was so kind despite (what seems like) Dark Souls 1 being tedious to hack, but we even discovered curious unused content character and extra lore for Lautrec! But even just faces should have been shot properly a DECADE ago!

And that would not have happened, had I gave up after several times of receiving cicada noises on my questions, even from people who normally talked to me! Just remember to never give up, there is always a person who will help just because they can!

oh also funny thing happened to me yesterday. neighbor came over to ask for an allen wrench so he could remove the core charge on his car's battery (immediately made me go ? but whatever) anyways I was rifling through my dads tool cart trying to find his allen wrenches and this guy is right next to me and eventually he goes oh HERE they are :) [he proceeds to pick up a socket wrench (makes much more sense than an allen wrench in this situation)] he then proceeds to try to explain to me how taking a car battery out of a car works (something I know how to do). He's a nice enough guy it was just a funny situation.

I got a battery-operated gardening hoe for Christmas, and it absolutely DESTROYS weeds (and anything else in its path). I am so looking forward to releasing it on my garden and the overgrown grass in front of my crawlspace door tomorrow.

(Yes, this is the south, we get weeds in winter. Hell, my daffodils are coming up already. I have an extremely confused gladiola coming up as well.)

I have now arrived at that point in life where one must Choose A Power Tool Brand. Because they all make their own giant reusable batteries, and none of them are interchangeable, because capitalism. Thus, I am now a Ryobi person. Apparently.

(Honestly, I just went with what my dad has--and has extra batteries for--because this is very likely the only power tool I will ever own. I have a cordless drill...somewhere...that's just like a couple rechargeable D cells, and that covers pretty much anything handy I ever plan to do myself. Speaking of which, I really need to find someone to blow some new insulation into my attic...)

Anyway, I tried it out with my parents and they both looked at each other and were like, "You [Dad] are getting one of these for your birthday next month and we're going to use the hell out of it."

when i was younger i fully internalised that i had learned helplessness but struggled to find real solutions because probably i was just poor with little to no resources or support. but going through my old stuff makes me wonder sometimes if maybe i was just stupid. i bought a wiimote at the flea market and couldn't get it to work but i kept it in case i could fix it later. just started troubleshooting it one last time so i can finally throw it out but. it simply works. did i not know how to sync it? i desperately wanted it to work. i didn't have the money to buy a second wiimote online and didn't know how to fix this one so i simply only had one wiimote and me and my friend had to take turns. but the whole time it just worked? 🫨 was i stupid??

Oh goddamnitalltohell.

My phone needs a new battery after a little over a year. This one is beginning to expand a little. It will cost as much as a new phone to repair.

I fucking miss my old phone. All that one needed was to pop off the back, and I could replace the battery myself. I did when the old one started not taking a charge.

These anti repair electronics suck.

I want the right to repair again!
