Inktober 2023 Day 24 - WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS: SANDA vs. GAIRA!
-The pseudo-sequel/reboot of Frankenstein vs. Baragon, sees not one, but TWO new giant humanoids! Born mutated from the previous giant Frankenstein monster’s cells, they are: SANDA, a orange-brown mountain dwelling giant who is sympathetic to humans, and his brother, Gaira, a green, amphibious, ocean dwelling giant who sees humans as food! Thus, Japan becomes the battle ground for the two titans to duke it out, brother vs. brother, good vs evil, with everyone else caught in the middle!
-Fun facts: for those not in the know, this particular film has been hailed by many as one of the greatest kaiju films ever, is a favorite of legendary director Guillermo del Toro, Tim Burton and has been cited by manga creator Hajime Isayama as one of the main inspirations for Attack on Titan!!

[Latest Trailer] "Godzilla Minus Zero" November 3, 2023, starring Ryunosuke Kamiki (Rurouni Kenshin) and Minami Hamabe (Shin Kamen Rider).
Post World War II, as Japan struggles with economic depression trying to rebuild itself, a curse is unleashed upon the country in the form of Godzilla.
From the trailer, it looks like it’s going to be the most darkest Godzilla films of them all, coupled with the post-war era atmosphere and environment.
You can sense the helplessness and tiredness of the people who I think probably see it as a curse for what the Imperial government did in World War II.
USA probably knew about Godzilla towards the end of the war in the Pacific, which is why they occupy Japan for a few years after the war to monitor.
I don’t know what this is but it would be tragic if USA dropped a third atomic bomb on Japan but this time to wipe out Godzilla.
Of course, it’s just my own speculation. I’m really excited to watch this in the cinema. Hope there’ll be a worldwide theatrical release.

Monster Review- A Perfectly Written, Acted An Crafter Film By Kore-eda
Monster is the latest film from legendary Japanese Hirokazu Kore-eda, the filmmaker behind Shoplifters, The Broker, and The Third Murder in recent years. He’s a director who has made films about fascinating subject matters. He puts a thought-provoking angle on them. In this film, he examines the perception of how one event is depicted by different people in different ways. An interconnected story…

Yes, I do indeed enjoy King Kong's magnificent franchise – let alone the main character himself. I mean, what is there not to love about his film series and other? He rules over a mystical island with dinosaurs and gigantic insects and arachnids, he can take on military crafts like they were merely mechanical mosquitoes (even though not all of his incarnations survived), he faced off against a robotic counterpart of himself as well as Godzilla, the King of the Monsters, and even HIS robotic counterpart. Kong, regardless if he is the last of his species, is simply that godly beast among primates. And you would think that mankind dominated the realm of great apes until seeing this bad boy in action on a screen or on stage. I truthfully do not understand how this monstrous superstar doesn't yet have his name on the Hollywood Walk of Fame unlike his Japanese rival of the monster subgenre, which absolutely surprises me.
Not only has King Kong given so much influence for other giant monster films like "Godzilla" and "Gamera," but had managed to change the way of Hollywood-filmmaking itself. Granted, his first motion picture in history was rather controversial, but nevertheless, it was a stop-motion phenomenon for adventure, horror and science fiction. To this day, I am always going to feel proud to have known the Eighth Wonder of the World since I was a three-year-old boy. I even remember when my mother first gave me that little black T-shirt of the Peter Jackson iteration of Kong fighting a Vastatosaurus rex (the 2005 film's supposed descendant species of Tyrannosaurus rex). I even played with an action figure of that same version of the King Kong character until it somehow got damaged one day.
Oh, how those memories glide through my brain every now and then. I can not possibly be any happier with life in popular culture knowing that I won't get away from the righteous ruler of Skull Island (and Hollow Earth) anytime soon. And although I may not expect myself to be a father one day, if I eventually become one, I wish my children might carry on the fanatic spirit for such a tremendously fantastic franchise if they were to start getting into monster fiction.
But enough of these extended thoughts. Feel welcome to hit this post up with a Like (❤️) if you are also enthusiastic about the legendary King of the Primates.

People: Wah, the 2014 Godzilla film is a military propaganda film!
Me:
Okay,
1) Godzilla movies in the past have a fair share of military presence.
2) The military has been shown to be very ineffective in the 2014 movie, so if it were a propaganda about military, it was showcasing just how useless it'd be against Kaiju.
3) We've had Godzilla media which had members of the military as main/supporting characters (Steven Woods, Ota Murakami, Akane Yashiro, Kiriko Tsujimori, Taizo Tachibana, Douglas Gordon, Shinkichi Ozaki, and, most recently Koichi Shikishima). Didn't see you guys bat an eye regarding those characters.
