It had been an awful day.  That probably wasn’t entirely fair to say, but…damn it, it had been.  Luka was back on the road.  Harmony was in Denmark with her Aunt Juleka, accompanying her on her latest shoot because she was starting to take an interest in photography and Juleka thought they could use a girls’ trip.  Mellie was trying, bless her, but she was still young and as bad as the Twins most days – and God, the Twins…they had been so good while their papa was home, but the second the door had closed behind Luka…

She loved her kids.

She did.

…but there were days.  Like today.  Days where she was pretty sure Dewey, her precious little toddler, was the only one she actually liked anymore.

When people say we have anxiety because our brains adapted to it because old us were living in stressful times.

To keep us alive.

But we're not fighting for lives now so it just makes us anxious?

That's Jason Grace.

Because Jason was raised by wolves who would've killed him the second he showed weakness.

And than he was raised at Camp where he was trained a soilder and preparing for war.

Since he was a toddler.

He had to adapt to survive.

Which makes a great soilder.

But makes a very stressed out anxious disaster of a human being when it comes to normal functioning.

He's good at hiding it.

You wouldn't know unless you were looking and knew what to look for.

And Jason wouldn't admit it, because again showing weakness is a big no no for him.

This is a long winded explanation for that I truly believe it someone put a weighted blanket on Jason Grace.

He would just drop to the ground.

Out like a light.

Because he's never felt calm in his life and his brain does not know what to do with this information.

And shuts down.

Just that one scene in Ducktales 2017 when Gandra Dee puts a weighted blanket on Huey.

Circa season 1

The soda stain on Webby’s shin was long dried, and at some point– probably when she and Huey wiped out on the carpeting scrambling for the air hockey table– it’d picked up a bit of fuzz. Webby picked at it idly, swinging her other leg over the edge of the climbing gym overhanging the ball pit as the crackling speakers chimed a tinny Christmas song. Out of the corner of her eye, she watched Dewey twist a rubber band around his fingers. 

Just like he had for the last twenty minutes. 

He sighed, and Webby scanned the mess of greasy, sweaty, children’s heads far down below. 

“So,” she said, “Who am I beating up?”

Dewey shook his head dully.

“No one has to see,” she said, “I’ve been working on a new technique to lure away victims with a really specific drone tone that activates a fear frequency in the brain.”

Dewey twisted the band around his finger until the tip turned red. He slowly pointed down to the spiral slide, where a boy with curly red hair and a too-square head held the end of the slide hostage. Webby had barely moved before Dewey grabbed her skirt, pulling her back down. 

She sighed. 

Dewey’s finger was turning faintly purple, now, and Webby watched the block-headed boy chuck a plastic ornament from the massive fake tree at a toddler’s head as she slid down.

“'Go cry to your mommy,'” Dewey said suddenly to his fingers.

“I...what?”

“That’s what he said,” Dewey muttered, “'Go…'”

He shook his head again. Webby frowned.

“Why…oh.”

Dewey fell silent again, and Webby picked at the fuzz again. Far below, she spotted Huey– the reindeer antler headband on his hat made it easy– and Louie at the face-painting booth. Louie’d picked up a Santa hat somewhere, and it gave her an idea.

“Do you want to bake those Santa cookies when we get home?” she tried, “We don’t have to put them in the traps. They’d be Christmas Eve-Eve cookies. That means we can eat as many as we want.”

Dewey nodded to his knees, and Webby didn’t push, though privately, she hoped Christmas Eve-Eve cookies helped raise his spirits enough that she wouldn’t feel too guilty celebrating. She wanted a perfect holiday.

It was their first Christmas together as a family, after all.

My submission for week 1 of Duckverse June, a bit late, but oh well! (Thanks to @secret-tester, @alexcanine, and @boingodigitalart for hosting it, btw!) I chose to write since drawing is hard. Anyways! Storytime: Donald tells the 4 year old triplets a bedtime story.

Donald was exhausted. After a long shift of getting yelled at by entitled old ladies for ‘not bagging fast enough!’ and by his manager for ‘looking too depressed!’ Donald was finally able to make it back to his home on the marina.

He relieves the babysitter of her duties and hands over the money he owes her. Then he steps through the doorway and greets his nephews, who nearly tackle him in a three-way hug, ecstatic to see their father figure again.

“Hi, boys,” he says warmly, but with a hint of tiredness seeping in.

“Unca Donald! We missed you sooooo much!” Huey exclaims, squeezing tighter on Donald’s leg for emphasis.

“Yeah!” Dewey agrees. Louie simply nods to show his agreement. “Guess how much we missed ya, Unca Donald!” Dewey continues, looking up at his uncle.

“I don’t know, Dewey, how much did you miss me?” he plays along.

Letting go of his uncle’s leg, Dewey steps back and extends his arms all the way outwards. “Dis much!” he answers, grinning.

“Wow, that’s a lot!” Donald laughs, ruffling Dewey’s hair, which makes the boy giggle with delight.

He tries to take a step forward, towards the houseboat’s kitchenette, but Huey and Louie’s combined weight stops him.

“Huey, Louie, can you let go of me please? I need to make dinner,” he gently requests, looking down at the red and green clad toddlers clinging to his legs.

They both reluctantly let go, and Donald sets about making dinner as fast as he can.

Around 30 minutes later, the triplets have scarfed down their dinners, while Donald has abandoned his for the moment, noticing the time: 7:28.

“Kids, bedtime!” he calls out, and after a couple minutes, he heads to the triplets’ room to make sure everything is going smoothly. He helps Huey get his shirt on the right way, helps Dewey get his feet into his onesie’s footies, and helps Louie with his shirt’s buttons.

After each kid has changed, brushed their teeth, and gotten into their shared bed, Donald sits down on the rickety chair next to the bed and pulls out a small book.

“Wha’ stowy awe you gonna read us tonight, Unca Donald?” Louie asks quietly.

“It’s one of your favorites, Lou-bear,” he replies, turning the book around to show them all the cover.

“Yay!” Louie cheers. “Da Catpiller!”

Donald laughs from Louie’s infectious excitement before turning the book back around and opening it up.

“In the light of the moon a little egg lay on a leaf,” Donald begins. “One Sunday morning the warm sun came up and- pop!- out of the egg came a tiny…”

The boys listen to the story with rapture, yawning more and more as it continues. Huey falls asleep first, holding his favorite stuffed animal, a lion. Then Dewey falls asleep, curled up into a tight ball, leaving only Louie awake.

“Then he nibbled a small hole in the cocoon, pushed his way out, and became a beautiful butterfly! The end.” Donald read, closing the book and placing it back under the chair with the few other books he’s collected for the boys. He then looks up at them and sees Huey and Dewey fast asleep, and Louie staring wide-eyed at him.

“That’s all for tonight, Lou-bear. Get some rest now, you’ve got another big day of preschool tomorrow, I’m sure.”

Louie yawns before responding, “Okay, Unca Donald.” The youngest triplet then closes his eyes and turns to face his brothers, falling asleep shortly after.

Donald, seeing this, gets up and turns on the nightlight in the corner of the room. He then turns off the room’s main light and steps into the doorway.

“Goodnight, boys,” he whispers. “I love you.”

He closes the door and makes his way back to the dinner he left behind earlier.

Donald was exhausted. But he would take his boys’ happiness over a good night of sleep or a calm shift at work any day.

Folks have been pointing out abuse and manipulation tactics used online for the last several years, 10 years ago if someone said that they were being gaslighted most people wouldn't have known what that meant, but now they do.

And they're recognizing it when things are happening themselves now, whoopsie for the folks that are angry that it's not working anymore.

OZZY - huey: oz loves messing with him, but he and his habits get on huey's nerves a whole hell of a lot - dewey: bit of a bad influence, oz may or may not have let him smoke once or twice; they get along otherwise - webby: hates the smoking and dark humor; constantly tries to get ozzy to be better

JUNIPER - huey: little too much energy for him, but he appreciates her input on machinery; juniper likes rambling about random things with him - dewey: they act like they're both on crack when together- they get along pretty well - webby: can be too cutesy in juniper's opinion, but otherwise get along as she reminds her a little of ximena; webby loves how fierce she is

ADEN - huey: aden and him play mystery games together; huey inadvertently helps aden elevate his detective skills - dewey: he finds aden a little boring-until there's a legitimate mystery at hand; aden tolerates him - webby: oddly get along; once he starts smoking, she becomes like a scolding parent to him

EVERETT - huey: everett finds him annoying, but sometimes likes his preparation and organization; huey doesn't like his judging looks, but he does appreciate his forwardness - dewey: everett finds him annoying, but sometimes likes his lively spirit; dewey likes his humor - webby: everett finds her annoying, but she reminds him of certain qualities of whittany and only then can he tolerate her; webby thinks he has his quirks

XIMENA - huey: both love nerding out about chemistry together - dewey: dewey loves her secret competitiveness and is always out to best her; ximena thinks it's cute he thinks he can be better than her - webby: both love gushing about animals and exchanging exercises

KIWI - huey: she is way too high energy in huey's opinion, but he likes her; kiwi loves messing with him- it was misread at a point that she might have like liked him; she did not - dewey: even kiwi's a little too much for dewey at times, but they act like toddlers on one thousand pounds of sugar; kiwi likes messing with him and poking fun at his moments of... not smart-ness - webby: never be in the same room as these two, you will not survive their elevating energy

NIX - huey: she's a bitch towards him, but loves his protectiveness; they get along through their roles of the oldest sibling; he feels sympathy for her and tries to hide it, but she can tell and finds it incredibly annoying - dewey: she's not as much of a bitch towards him, but she does love his ability to lighten up a room; he feels sympathy for her, but doesn't let it show - webby: webby's a little too grating in nix's opinion- she tolerates her and does like her protectiveness; webby feels sympathy for her, and really lets it known, which infuriates nix to no end and is what's preventing them from having a friendship

DEAN - huey: they get along super well; they could be considered best friends - dewey: dewey constantly tries to make dean feel included- it is a notion that doesn't go unnoticed; they aren't "friends", but they don't dislike each other - webby: dean likes her caring nature, it reminds him of his cousin; she loves discussing astronomy and having healthy debates of astrology with him

ASH - huey: they poke fun at each other, though it took huey a while to actually grow fond of them; he likes that they, like lena, try to help him stand up for himself; they like working in the lab with him by writing reports and interviewing the science team - dewey: they remind him of louie, so he does a lot of activities he would do with louie with them; oddly enough, ash finds him endearing; they like each other - webby: ash loves saying incredibly sarcastic and borderline offensive things to webby to see how she reacts; webby takes it as ash educating her on social interactions; despite this, they do get along

WHITTANY - huey: huey's learned a lot about everett through whittany, but he doesn't find her ramblings annoying; whittany likes that he listens and doesn't get bored or annoyed - dewey: they oftentimes jump into ideas without getting a second opinion from others; this can lead to disaster - webby: webby can keep whittany on the ground of reality... most of the time

MARSHALL - huey: marshall pokes fun at him, which usually get on huey's nerves; marshall thinks he's cute, huey honestly doesn't like him all that much - dewey: marshall pokes fun at him, which dewey matches energy; sometimes marshall invites dewey out with him and/or the others; louie has little to no qualms about this - webby: she serves as his wingman and he gives her advice; they get along

SYLVIA - huey: huey supplies her with whatever knowledge he knows when she asks, and is surprisingly patient with her; sylvia really likes him- no, not like that - dewey: dewey often offers unwanted inputs on her ideas that have a 50/50 shot of being used; sylvia appreciates the help, but it can get annoying when he's hovering over her shoulder; he thinks everything she makes his pretty and amazing and just wants to help; outside of this, they are the ultimate dumbasses - webby: also gives unwanted inputs, but there's a 70/30 shot of being used; other than this, they have literally never been seen on bad terms

VIVIAN - huey: he thinks she as a person is misleading- how can someone so childish say things like that?; vivian thinks it's hilarious to watch huey's eyes go wide - dewey: she confuses him, but he rolls with it; she thinks it's fun to watch the gears turn and break in his head - webby: she somehow understands vivian; vivian awaits the day she says something that confuses webby

DOTTIE - huey: dottie oftentimes tells him to "toughen the fuck up", and will take him out on her bike to teach him street skills since louie has given up; huey is sometimes terrified of her - dewey: he so badly wants to ride her bike, but she doesn't trust him; dewey thinks she's really, really cool; she loves to show off around him just to see his eyes sparkle - webby: she's a little annoying to dottie, but they get along really well (think very early webby/lena dynamic)

HUNTER - huey: they nerd out about history and do homework together; they also relate through talking about their "rage modes"- it's nice to have someone who understands - dewey: dewey finds him as a formidable foe in sports; hunter thinks he's funny - webby: she loves how sweet and kind he is; he appreciates her teaching him proper moves

Jack

A stout pitbull (you know the ones with the big ass heads and tiny ears) named something like Chopper, Chopper is very afraid of Suzy's tiny dogs and whines during thunder storms

A Basset hound, I don't know how I particularly justify this one it just seems like an old rural person dog, his name is like Charlie or Huey

A big ol Saint Bernard that thinks it's a lap dog which Jack loves, the toddlers love taking piggy back rides on it. His name is probably Bulldozer

Suzy

Catherine the Great the Yorkshire Terrier of course, Suzy has more bows for her than her actual daughters.

A poodle, with the classic continental cut of course, her name is Marie Antionette

She has a pitbull as well because she thought it would be cute if her dog was Jack's dog's "wife" and they had puppies together. Her name is Doily and she is a monster of a dog she is not safe around children her and Suzy eat babies together

Santa

I know this was just one dog but the dog was just standing there and Santa's a huge dick so I'm gonna say he's just not a dog person

He has a Norwegian Forest cat named Alvis which means wise dwarf because he's fat little (compared to Santa, these cats are actually fucking huge) baby and the only son Santa actually wanted

He constantly makes jokes about Doily eating one of Jack and Suzy's babies

Virginia

A Dalmatian named Cookies n Cream! They're smart, love to run, and can kind of be dicks.

An American Bulldog, supposedly they don't do very well with other animals and their high prey drive makes them common in fighting rings. She would name it Cinnamon

An itty bitty Papillon because that means butterfly in french and Ginny's hyperfixation didn't let her not get the dog, it's name is Cupcake

in the meantime i've been playing roblox. club roblox specifically. and i named my children huey dewey and louie and because i can't equip three children at once i've been raising huey and dewey. they're toddlers now and huey enjoys asking what we're doing next and telling me he loves me and i keep freaking out. dewey, however, likes to talk about... monkeys??

Other Branches of the Mizrahi Tree

Outside of the main family line of the tree lies a number of spare branches that have their own minor legacies. Below is the list of these legacies, their role in the main plot, as well as their current heir.

Mizrahi Farm (Nathaniel Tabor) - During the Antique Generation Uriah Mizrahi inherited his father's farm after the untimely death of his older brother. He later purchased the neighboring Hoffman Farm which belonged to his brother-in-law giving him control of all of Old New Henford. He left the land to his son David. While David is considered to be the heir of that time it was his twin brother who actually produced the next heir so David was able to leave the land to his own biological son Reuben who never had children of his own but his twin sister did and he adopted her youngest son Nathaniel as heir.

Henford Crime Ring (Hayden Noble) - During the Juice Prohibition during the Burnished Generation Esther Mizrahi married Gilbert Hough who opened a speakeasy (that David worked in). With his wife's full support he became a powerful figurehead in Henford that no one wanted to cross. His son-in-law Jonathan picked up the mantel after Gilbert's death in WWII leading to both sons working to break free of the family after Alexander's daughter was severly injured as a toddler. Samuel continued to work for the HCR while keeping his family a secret in hopes of protecting them from a similar fate. It wasn't until the 60's when the HCR got tangled up with the Oasis Springs Syndicate (OSS) and they met Detective Nikolas Layne that both brother's were able to get out and be moved to other Worlds

Henford Citizens (Batiste/Harris) - During the Antique Generation, Uriah's older brother passed away but not before he had 3 sons. His middle son had two children. His daughter Kinley Batiste was the heart and soul of Henford and passed that down to her 7 children. Her oldest daughter Rosalie Harris has now passed that down to her own 6 children. Together they keep Henford running and grounded to it's roots.

Pigulock Manor (Huey Pigulock) - During the Classic Generation Lizbeth Mizrahi married William Pigulock who later inherited his grandparents estate in Evergreen Harbor. The house was a safe place for the women (including Kailee Greenburg who founded the Greenburg Rehabilitation Center) to raise their families while their husbands served in WWII. After William died in the war his children struggled to get their feet under them. His son Frankie was a deadbeat who never had children while his son Blaine (who he never met) was in and out of rehab and eventually OD'd. He had a son with a stripper who seems to have a good head on his shoulders. Though Huey currently lives in San My with his wife and son he is set to inherit both the Pigulock fortune and the Greenburg Rehibilitation Center (see below)

Greenburg Rehibilitation Center (Amira Greenburg) - After the Hoffman Purchase during the Antique Generation, Imram Hoffman continued to work for his brother-in-law Uriah and he and his wife were great supports for their nephew David during the Burnished Generation. During the Classic Generation their daughter Kailee went to Evergreen Harbor with her cousin where they lived in a hobo camp and she met Knox Greenburg. Knox had big dreams of changing Evergreen, dreams that she brought to fruition on her own while he was fighting in WWII. Their children halfheartedly continued their dreams but after Amira's death the Center will close unless someone finds a heart to continue.

Scavengers (Elisha Gagnon) - During the Antique Generation, Jeb Mizrahi (Uriah's nephew) was disowned and cast out of Henford for getting a woman pregnant. After his death in WWI and his wife's death a few years later their 3 unmarried daughters were left with nothing. When the economy collapsed during the Classic Generation they became homeless and lived in a junkyard. While Hannah's son Cohen continued that lifestyle her 3 daughters were raised in an orphanage and given a bit of a better chance at life. Two of her grandchildren have even managed to make a name for themselves with Katlin being a prestegious scientist who's research helped cure Esteban Beltran during the Expressionist Generation and Derrick Parson who became the music agent for Johnny Zest during the Fast Generation.

Oasis Springs Syndicate? (Major Blanton) - During the Burnished Generation David's other cousin Gabriel (Kinley's older brother) took to a life of crime. But rather than stay in Henford and get involved in the HCR he moved to Oasis Springs and got involved in something shadier. He met Rowan who was [redacted] and they had two sons. While Gabriel was eventually arrested and spent his last days in prison, Rowan continued pursuing her own goals. She worked as a double agent for both the Syndicate and the HCR while completing her own mission. She was sent to retrieve Sofia from her foster home during the Classic Generation at which point she gave her a cypher disguised as a book which she later sent a Syndicate agent to retrieve during the Dandy Generation. Though she died before achieving her goal of [redacted] she passed her aspirations on to her son and grandson who launched OMI during the Fast Generation in preparation for [redacted]
