So today’s been a hard day. I feel poorly as anything, I’ve got sky high bone pain, and was struggling with my depression; there was no particular reason, today was just a bad day. My psychologist says my mental health is a bully; it waits until I’m already down with my physical health, then it comes along and kicks me. Which is about as fun as it sounds tbh. But I dragged myself up, even though I felt like hiding in bed. I did my longest run ever; 4km 🥳🙌🏻!!! I did have to have an emergency wee in the bushes 😂🙈 and I fell over... mam was an excellent rescue team taking photos of me sprawled on the grass 😂👍🏻!! I also did my dance class, and walked the dogs, and did guitar class. And I do feel better this evening. I am still tired and worn down by pain and physical symptoms. My depression is still here. I was gonna post this with some quirky, sarcastic comment last night, which was when it was taken. Now I'm kind of glad I didn't, because I needed the smile, however small, that seeing this evoked tonight. Today was one of the hard ones: we had a kid run today and due to her circumstances she very likely will not ever be coming back to us. The rest of our youth were amazing all day, which is, I think, the only reason I didn't totally lose my shit until I got home. I've been crying for the last 30 minutes straight, ugly crying, and all I want to do is hide under my blankets for a month. Instead, I will let myself fall apart and then find my super glue, and next week, I (and my lovely work wives) will walk back into that house and keep caring for these kids. • Today for me was a meh 😒 day. We are all human and this is normal. Not everything is always sunshine 🌞 and rainbows 🌈. I was sleepy and tired all day, had some bad news and on top of that I ate half of my fridge today 🙃. Buuuuut whatever goes on in our lives we should always remember that tomorrow is a new day! Had hell of a scare today, not gonna lie. I spasmed so violently, for so long, they thought I would stop breathing and/or suffer a cardiac arrest. They couldn’t even find a blood pressure, my resps were 40, and my heart rate was 186. I got blue-lighted to UHW Resus for treatment, and spent a few hours on the Major Trauma unit. I’ve had salbutamol nebulisers, 15 litre oxygen, IV fentanyl, IV diazepam, and IV fluids. I’ve had two IVs put in, lots of blood taken, and a chest X Ray. Everything hurts; my body has spent the day literally beating itself up and trying to tear itself apart. There are no words to describe the terror you feel when you can’t breathe. Tonight, there have been tears and fears. But I’m really glad I’m still here. Today was just one bad day amongst many, many more good ones. And I will not let the bad days, the hard days, win.
