Had hell of a scare today, not gonna lie. I spasmed so violently, for so long, they thought I would stop breathing and/or suffer a cardiac arrest. They couldn’t even find a blood pressure, my resps were 40, and my heart rate was 186. I got blue-lighted to UHW Resus for treatment, and spent a few hours on the Major Trauma unit. I’ve had salbutamol nebulisers, 15 litre oxygen, IV fentanyl, IV diazepam, and IV fluids. I’ve had two IVs put in, lots of blood taken, and a chest X Ray. Everything hurts; my body has spent the day literally beating itself up and trying to tear itself apart. There are no words to describe the terror you feel when you can’t breathe. Tonight, there have been tears and fears. But I’m really glad I’m still here. Today was just one bad day amongst many, many more good ones. And I will not let the bad days, the hard days, win.
