I love that Nightwing has files on how to take down all of his friends and they're okay with it, because it's a reasonable point to be made and because he trusts his team to tell them about it. I love that this is one of those crystal clear examples of Dick taking the things Batman does and doing them better, that he's not Batman Lite, but instead that he's Better Than Batman, that's the whole purpose of Nightwing's character, that's everything that Bruce wanted for him, to be the kind of Bat that Bruce sees himself as too damaged to be.

When the only thing that can stop the Necrostar is Starro, Beast Boy has no choice but to transform into his own version of Starro. Typically, Starro uses smaller versions of himself to control people's minds, and it seems that Beast Boy retains this ability as well, but instead of mind control, it transforms people into animal forms. This is likely why Batman transforms into his horrifying beast form. While Beast Boy obviously doesn't intend for this to happen, it seems neither Beast Boy nor Batman can control themselves in their new bestial form.

So we have Dick as a fox

Bruce and Jason are wolves

Damian is a cat

Harley is a bunny

A redesign of Nightwing’s beast world look

In my rewrite of Beast World, the beasts are symbols of what the characters hate most about themselves (i.e. parts of themselves they see as “beastly”) and for Dick I chose his guilt. Outsiders 2003 was a big inspiration for that specifically, with his guilt about leading the people he loves to their deaths, which is symbolized by a black bird as an omen of death
