Solo Woman Designs Dream 1 Level Tiny House while Battling Cancer

Meet Cheryl, a nurse who designed her 10' wide tiny house on wheels while battling cancer. Her treatments have gone well, and she's loving every moment of her simple life. 

A big motivation for tiny home living came from wanting to live more affordably in her dream mountain town. She had already downsized from a large house into a studio apartment, but the rising bills just didn't make sense long-term. So, she designed a single-level tiny house customized to fit her needs. It's full of fantastic small space design hacks!

Cheryl secured her ideal parking spot at Island Cove Mobile Home & Tiny House Community, within walking distance of downtown Durango, CO.

OMG, I love the little pink A-Frame so much! And, it's so cute and colorful inside, but so tiny. Built in 1972 in Cleveland, GA. 1bd, 1ba, $215,750. It comes totally furnished, BTW.

Look at the beams and the purple door. I don't like the bed there, though.

Pretty kitchen counter.

Love the turquoise kitchen. I would have to get a small stove or oven.

It has a small cooktop and a dishwasher.

This is so nice- look at the shelving under the stairs.

Bath is so colorful. Too bad there's no place for a washer/dryer.

Small desk in the corner. Hmm... the w/d unit could go in there, one of the single unit ones. Is that the only storage?

They have a futon in the loft and a regular bed downstairs. Where are their clothes, though?

And, there's a small yard. The lot is .69 acres, so you could probably expand a little if you want to.

Shizaya Week 2023

Day 8 Free Day Part 7/8

Shizaya: "The last place we have is the yard. Where I play soccer and just have fun. The flea wouldn't want anyone to REALLY know but he loves fall and the leaves. Watching him have fun... I not so secretly love it."

Izaya: "Don't tell people about my love for leaves!"

Izaya: "Nothing is better than my humans but I have to say plants are pretty great. I love to water them. Shizu-chan and I spent a lot of time to plant them all."

Shizuo: "Hey, you remember that time you sprayed me with the hose?"

Izaya: "I refuse to turn around."

Izaya: "You know, I don't think we have ever using this fire pit."

Shizuo: "Naw, looks good though. We spend a lot of time on this yard for looks. I rake, you throw leaves and I rake some more."

Shizuo: "I love coming out here to do some reading."

Izaya: "Are you still reading that childrens book?!"

Shizuo: "You know, as much as the flea annoys me. His knowledge never ceases to amaze."

Izaya: "And that is the little dipper! Hey what are you looking at?"

Shizuo: "Something prettier than the stars."

Izaya: "...."

The grass is made from sticky moss sheets that I stuck to some foam board. The sky and stars are scrapbook paper. The stars are on foam board so I can switch day to night. I don't use night very often though.

One of the leaves in the yard is a real one I found outside. I felt it needed to be here. It's so cute.

I love how your mind works I genuinely hope a house tour is in our future😭 i do think that them recording from the bamboo art room is a good sign that they are starting to soften up on how much they show of the house

but yes, i got that feeling too! at least some rooms they're comfortable with i think they would want to show off! i feel like they both actually do really want to show us what they've worked so hard on together (the house) but obviously privacy, and some things that took longer, and just general "right time" of it all would put a stop to things. also, unless they have a two bedroom situation in this house, how comfy they are with being that blatant about ~things also plays a part in their decision making i'm sure.

buuuut if i was their manager and didn't care about anything i'd be like yeah just drop a one hour long house tour with ads in december to get paid guys 😭

just back from a short anniversary excursion and I wanna a) sleep for a week b) do absolutely nothing but play zoldo c) go through vacation odds n ends and pics we took and think about putting together the scrapbook page(s) for this trip in the ADVENTURE SCRAPBOOK Justin got for our anniversary d) think about dnd and maybe do some art e) did I mention sleeping

Retired Couple's Dream Tiny House designed to be their Forever Home

🏡 Meet Kathleen & Byron, retirees living in a gorgeous tiny house with a main floor bedroom. They worked with their builder, Minimaliste, to thoughtfully futureproof their tiny house design to meet their needs now and later in life. The result is incredible. Their 10' wide by 36' long tiny house on wheels balances beauty & function with a mind-blowing amount of storage space!

They absolutely love living at the Acony Bell Tiny Home Community. A neighbor recently helped to save Kathleen's life! It's a supportive, beautiful, and affordable place to call home.

I love the outside of this little house. It's like an art piece and is even signed by the artist, muralist Jules Muck. How cute is that? But, it's so bare inside. 1bd. 1ba, in Wonder Valley, CA, the desert, but it's only $87K.

The tiny living room/kitchen. It's just a kitchenette but I don't even see a cooktop or sink. I think that they could've done better.

I can't tell if the bedroom is separate or if it's all one room, like a studio.

The bathroom is outside. I really would rather have it inside.

There's not even a direct door to the bathroom, so you'd have to go out the side door in the bedroom in the middle of the night.

I thought that this door went to bath, but no.

There's a firepit outside.

The current owner has the 5 acre property divided into camp sites to rent out.

I don't know what to think, it's disappointing. I'd have to expand it.

im so sad that i went on a tour of westminster before i got into the thick of it i would appreciate it so much more now i need to go back so i can fully visualise where exactly ollie was getting railed. i swear that wasnt how this post was supposed to end i didnt even mean to go there sorry its one of the only things on my mind i cant help it

Built no wider than a parking space in the heart of Tokyo, the striking 6 Tsubo House stands out among the more traditional houses on the narrow street. Arte-1 Architect's designed the 56 square metres, three storey home based on a brief for a small but open house with a connection to the outdoors. To maximise space in the home, rooms on the upper levels were staggered, allowing a 5m high ceiling in the living space and additional storage within the stairway and underneath the kitchen. The staircase itself winds up through the home's fully equipped kitchen and generous main bathroom where instead of partitioning spaces, Arte-1 has created separation using colour and materials, giving each space a unique ambience. These carefully considered choices make this small building a truly functional home for a family; with priority given to simple things like room for children to play, and a cosy living & dining area.
