Tuberculosis is curable, yet 1.6 million people die of tuberculosis every year while Danaher grossly overcharges for diagnostic tests for the people who can least afford it.

I'm not really active on any social media and this probably won't do much on tumblr but I am enraged that Danaher and Cepheid use a printer ink model to sell overpriced cartridges to test for TB and multi resistant drug TB causing many people to not getting treatment early enough and fucking die!
So drop those prices!!

Hey all TB fighters has been pressuring Danaher(a publicly traded company) to lower the prices on its various tests for diseases. These tests make it possible to screen for diseases such as TB, HIV, Ebola, and many more. Unfortunately, they are extremely overpriced, which makes them very hard to access in lower income countries. A few months ago, TB fighters(and John Green) led an online campaign that successfully lowered the price of its MDR-TB test, but now they're pushing for the same thing on all of its tests. If you want to help, you can sign the petition below(also linked a video explaining why it'll work).

is Tuberculosis a bacteria that will infect 10 million people this year and kill 1.5million, the WHO recommends that a rapid test be administered by anyone presenting with symptoms and signs of TB one of these tests is the GeneXpert test from Danaher/Cepheid a test which is being sold for more then twice its manufacturing cost, and at least three times cost for Ebola, Covid19, HIV and Hepatitis tests.

I'm lucky that, despite being on medication that compromises my immune system, I live a nation with somewhat affordable access to TB tests that help keep me safe. Millions of others don't get that cosmic luck.
Danaher is 132nd on the Fortune 500 list. It’s no surprise; they are making a killing on their company Cepheid's tests. Cepheid marks up these tests by 100-300% for countries that need them the most. It’s time to drop the price of these tests to $5.

So: starting tomorrow, there's a coordinated pressure campaign to get Danaher, the giant company that makes diagnostic test cartridges for tuberculosis and other diseases of poverty, to lower their prices. This would increase access to testing and help prevent a great deal of suffering and death around the world. The campaign has already seen some success (Danaher agreed to lower the price of one particular TB cartridge, just not far enough, and not all of them), so we are ramping things up over the next few weeks. Your task, if you choose to accept it, is to be as annoying as possible (without being abusive to the staff you directly interface with, who don't have any decision-making power). The goal is for the bad publicity and criticism to become an overwhelming liability for the company.
Above is a list of various actions you can take over the next 3 days.
Here is a link to the social media accounts of all Danaher-owned companies and another page with the company's e-mail, e-mail templates, phone number, and more
Here is a library of social media graphics you can use
Here is a petition for you to sign
And here is a goofy-ass meme template featuring Pantone (a Danaher subsidiary) and their "color of the year" thing

share this video widely and you may end up saving millions of lives throughout this century, this worked when the internet pressured johnson&johnson over its TB drug patents and it can work again, social media can be a force for good

You've probably never heard of the corporation Danaher.
That's how they like it. It allows them to Reverse Robin Hood their way to profits gleaned from the world's poorest people.
But that ends today. We're shining a light on Danaher's business practices. And we're gonna keep shining that light--and make Danaher and their Very Private Executives famous--until they stop price-gouging the world's poorest countries for lifesaving TB diagnostics.

Please sign this petition to tell @DanaherCorp that their test prices are too much. Why should someone have to spend ALL their money just to get a test? Medicine should not be a luxury. #TimeFor5 #PeopleOverProfits

image ID: the destiel breaking news meme, but after cas says "i love you", dean replies:
cas, danaher corporation and it’s subsidiary company cepheid are still charging tuberculosis (TB) patients in low- and middle-income countries $10–$20 to access quick and accurate testing despite the fact that cepheid’s genexpert machine tests were developed with at least $252 million in taxpayer money and doctors without borders found out that the tests only cost $3–$4.50 to produce. TB is a major cause of death and disability, not to mention that the inaccessibility of these tests leads to the spread of drug resistant TB around the globe.
