I was wondering how you got into some of the Barbara Gordon ships you like because I feel like she's a very unpopular character to ship with others and most people don't really bother having fun shipping with her.

I have this nsfw hc about Barbara where I feel like because she is someone who always has to be in control of situations that when she is sharing intimacy with a partner she likes to be controlled/dominated. Which is ironic because I have a nsfw hc about Jason Todd where I feel like because he didn't have control of situations in his life that he needs control and would seek out control in intimate situations with partners and would need to dominate.

I'm just an observant viewer who pays attention to character dynamics I think are interesting and the ship grows in me naturally. I don't give two cents about what other people on this fandom think it should be banned, cancelled or not allowed to ship for dumb idiotic reasons.

All background annoying noise in my ears. Weak reasons crafted by childish people not worth obeying. They're also hypocritical. Like, many of them would love to see a gangbang between Dick and the batboys. Hell, they headcanon Dick as a slut who likes to get banged by every older man on this universe and that's ok (I'm not judging. I'm ok with those headcanons as well, since I ship JayDick, SlaDick and BruDick with passion), but for Barbara to headcanon her the same way is morally wrong? Screw them.

Don't they realize the problem is DC putting mediocre writters to write Barbara into fucking DickBabs of all things and not the fans who dream about their own stories featuring this character? All the problems they try to inject into BruBabs, JayBabs, TimBabs, etc are already present on canon DickBabs lol.

-She got deaged and her personality got reduced into forever hormonal silly teen girl so she could be paired up with Dick and fullfill the trope of the americanized shoujo-like romance in comics.

-She changed from being Batman's love interest and an indepentent hero to be "like a daughter" to Bruce and subjugated to the Bat-family so she can be a pretty accesory to Dick.

-When she isn't dating Dick, she has to be thinking about him, mentioning him, comparing him to her current love interest. She also needs to be thinking about him and talking about him when she's working.

-She doesn't have any agenda of her own anymore, she only exists to be Dick's love interest and get comicbros horny by fullfilling the rol of being a female Batman with tits and ass.

All those problems are DickBabs problems, not JayBabs'. Not BruBabs'. Not TimBabs'. When BruBabs was a thing, Barbara was not a deaged insufferable idiot. She was independent. She was an equal comrade in arms to Bruce. When JayBabs got a few issues back in Batman Ethernal (I'm not counting Three Jokers because that's a whole other can of worms), she helped Jason go into a little arc and their bond progressed naturally from working together on screen. When TimBabs was a thing in the Arkham games, she was the best version of herself there's around, period. She was professional, a computer genius as Oracle, who was focused on the mission and being Tim's love interest was just a small part of her, not her defining core. And also OH. LOOK. Those devs proved you can cut DickBabs from the equation and have Barbara and Dick be themselves and their core character traits remain untouched LMAO. GET REKT YOU PIECE OF SHIT PAIRING.

So yeah, considering alll those points I just expanded upon, I say I'm in my right to ship JayBabs and TimBabs. And BardBabs too. Jason Bard also got disrespected and fucked over DickBabs and I don't fogive nor forget.

And I love Arkham Tim Drake and I think every creator is on their right to create their own AU story. The Arkham devs created their own thing and I love it. Barbara stopped typing, caught her breath. Tim went still. The moment drew itself out, each second marked by the Clock Tower’s mechanical heartbeat.

Okay I just want to say that the thing I hate the most about the Arkham games is how they work perfectly to demonstrate that what makes Gotham soo dangerous is the systems of power and opression built upon the city and that Arkham (as the bigger representation of this system) is literally making the criminals worse and being tormented by constant violence and torture turn the Rogues into psychotic paranoid violent messes that kill civilians and turn the population on general into a constant state of paranoia that worsen everyones mental health while also making them aclimatized to violence and therefore more likely to commit violent acts creating a cycle of violence and pain and than after all that the games try to convince us that Bruce becoming a new more brutal hero that uses fear toxin as a weapon will somehow improve things?!

Excuse me but I assure you that this will only make everything worse. And again I will use Riddler as an example here because I think he fits the games thematics pretty well and that's why he ends up having so much screem time even though he supposidly isn't a major characther in the games. Okay let's take someone like Edward who is cleary now motivated mostly by a mist of extreme delusions and paranoia (things that are a result of trauma, a trauma that is being treated by sending him repeditly to CREEPY GHOTIC CASTLE THAT IS CLEARLY A TORTURE PLACE to give him more PTSD) now Edward isn't the exception here he is simply the extreme example of the rule and how Bruce is going to deal with it? By constatly gassing him with a drug that causes even more paranoia and induces a psychotic break! He is basically doing the equivalent of using gasoline to stop a fire. Is soo dumb and it frustrates me soo much.

The only other thing I hate about the Arkham games ( there are things I dislike besides those two but I don't hate them) is TimBabs. God I hate TimBabs

The whole idea around "batcest" makes no sense. These are people who did not grow up together, aren't related and never even lived under the same roof. Their relationship is the exact same as the boys' when it comes to shared experiences. Steph has even been a Robin. But nobody cares because 1, DC is not pushing the "family rhetoric" with the girls all that much since they treat them as lower importance characters (when they're there at all), and 2, it's not queer relationships.

And this is ultimately what makes me go insane about queer kids parroting anti bullshit. Censorship is the weapon used by bigots to criminalize, punish and ultimately erase queer people from existence, it takes to study queer history for five minutes to understand this. You can see it happening in every fandom space where every type of queer ship gets put through some sort of moral sieve, and they WILL find reasons why it's unethical to ship it. Did you know that now shipping Dick/Wally is problematic because "Wally has a wife" ? So basically they're turning the very reason why fandom was born (exploring something different from the standardized heteronormative/amatonormative way of doing everything when it comes to narrative) into something pRoBLeMaTiC.

And these little fucking idiots keep spouting queerphobic nonsense while feeling morally righteous, not understanding that they are playing the game of the same people who if they could would shoot them in the street for being anything but straight and cis. I swear this ship only enjoyed by Bruce Timm. Literally anytime this ship shows up anything you can bet most people are groaning and expressing their disgust in the comment section. Most versions of Barbara are a lot younger than Bruce. Like he’ll be Batman (a grown man), and she’ll be young enough to be playing with dolls. He’s also a close friend of her father’s so it super weird of him to take the opportunity to fuck on her with that dynamic and the age gap. She also is sometimes in a relationship with his son. Why would you be in a love triangle with this girl who is way younger than you and your own damn child? It just so fucking weird and it grosses me out every time. He once wrote a story where she was having sex with both him and his son in the same time period, and she ended up pregnant with batman’s kid. It is always seems like Barbara is super clingy towards him which is super uncomfortable and then you’re why Bruce would even entertain this shit at all. Makes him weird as hell. This was probably fine in the very earliest iteration of Barbara as a character, but it will always be a stain on the DCAU and anything it appears in in modern times.

Dickbabs:

Believe it or not, I actually used to like this ship!!! Their first go around at a relationship was fine! Not amazing and it had issues but it had its cute moments! But there was the retconning. Oh, was there retconning. They had to age Barbara down just to make the relationship even possible, since she was in Congress when Dick was still a teenager. And then it got worse. Suddenly Barbara was Dick’s first crush/love. Suddenly all of his other relationships were explicitly inferior and his awesome longterm ex is being villified and shit talked and dismissed as a fling in-text. They broke up and stayed broken up for over a decade. Then suddenly Barbara had use of her legs back and was out of her wheelchair, and it was like every character spent a few years going “oh those two belong together!!” Without any of the stories ever demonstrating WHY. Then they suddenly got back together (after having Dick break up with yet another cool love interest!!!!) and immediately became characters I did not and do not recognize. Babs became a girlboss (derogatory) and Dick became a himbo (derogatory) and I hate it so so so so much it makes me so angry I can’t even keep talking about this I need to go before I explode

I'm sorry but everytime I see someone say something about JayTim or JayDick or just BatCest in general I just want to say:

Unpopular opinion but Barbara and Stephanie are part of the BatFam even if Bruce didn't adopt them and as such DickBabs, JayBabs, TimBabs, JaySteph, TimSteph, and StephCass are BatCest

Barbara is more like Bruce's niece but Stephanie definitely borders the line between daughter and niece.

You could maybe make an argument that DickBabs and TimSteph aren't because both boys started dating the girls before they joined the BatFam but every other ship doesn't have that defense. Since the girls only meet the others after they part of the BatFam.

I can't remember which hero, but there's another whose popular pairing is his foster sister. How is that not incest? (it's the Flash, right? I think it is) but because it's hetero they ignore it.

HAHA YES. very vaguely related but when i played arkham knight everytime timbabs came up i was like. yeah. those two go to cons in couples cosplay together. hi welcome to my timbabs cosplayer agenda.

there's so much exposition going on, but i'm not too surprised with the... everything that rw/by has going on. still a bit of a trudge to get through. the long and short of it: team rw/by and some of their world's monsters are thrown into gotham. exposure to the rw/by stuff can cause people to develop powers like characters from rw/by's world have, and being in gotham uh. gives team rw/by new outfits? they also try to cram in a conflict between team rw/by and batman, but they make it a really shallow and stupidly easy to resolve conflict so that they can get to working together immediately after.

(in case you missed my previous rw/by related reads: rw/by is partially censored bc theres enough uh. poorly behaved rw/by fans out there that i decided to do what i can to avoid any chance at coming up in rw/by related searches.)

I think, with accuracy, it all depends on if the changes to the source material work. What effort do they put in to making the change work. Does it work at all in the first place, was it just a bad change conceptually?

Disney's Hercules is pretty mythologically inaccurate. Hera is not his mom, Alcmene is. Pegasus is not his steed, he's Bellerophon's. There are traditionally nine Olympian Muses, not five. Hades is not evil, stop it with the Christianity. But, for the story they're telling, it works. It's fun! I love this movie to bits. And I am a bit forgiving. Of course they're going to sanitize Greek myth, just a bit. Scrub out all the murder and whatnot. Whatever. Like, I understand why Hades is villainized in works. He's not the best guy in the source, no deity is with very few exceptions. To this extent, eh. But I can see it. Hera is his mom now? I mean, blegh, but they do have a weird sort of relationship. Not mother-son, of course, but, like, more like an evil wicked stepmother but not really. And again, sanitized.

The live-action Percy Jackson films are bad. We all know this. I'm specifically going to be taking about the first film. It does not feel like Percy Jackson. The Hydra scene is whatever. Nothing with Ares. Why is Persephone here? The changes detract from the story and don't make sense. But, they don't have to. You could tell The Lightning Thief sans Ares, maybe. But there still needs to be someone in his role of instigator. Why the Hydra? it's weird. But eh. I like visiting Nashville enough, but like... it doesn't work as good as St. Louis. Going off to collect the pearls rather than just getting them. Idk. Thoughts.

I am beating a dead horse here, but Batman: Arkham Knight's weird thing with TimBabs is bad, as I've said. They hardly feel like a real couple, it's shoehorned in and doesn't work. Even if there was build-up in previous games and such, it just won't work, at least for me, personally. It doesn't make sense why they would be a couple. Conceptually, bad. Two characters who initially are more like unofficial siblings in the source material are now in a romance in this? Bad. In fact, to be another dead horse, this game's Tim is bad. The changes go against core traits of the original character. Basically a new character with his name slapped on (like New 52 Tim).
