Sorry, wrong roommate ChrisMD
Tumblr media
In which fans ship the wrong people.
Y/N had been on YouTube for over a decade, her channel a mix of witty challenges, heartfelt travel vlogs, and occasional collaborations with other creators. With over six million subscribers, Y/N was adored for her authenticity and sharp humour. Over the years, she'd become close friends with Chris Dixon, better known as ChrisMD, a fellow YouTuber with a penchant for football content.
For years, their friendship had been nothing but platonic. They'd filmed countless videos together, shared inside jokes, and supported each other through breakups and career slumps. They both invested into The Fellas Studio’s which meant they had office and production spaces in the building, on the same floor. But three months ago, something shifted. A late-night conversation in Chris’s office turned into a lingering glance, which turned into a kiss, which turned into them falling into a relationship neither of them had seen coming.
Chris lived in a flat with fellow content creators George Clarke and Arthur Hill, Y/N, being a frequent visitor to Chris’s flat, naturally spent time with their pair of them as well. In particular Y/N and George hit it off instantly, their shared sense of humour leading to a fast friendship. However, Y/N and Chris had decided to keep their relationship private for now. They didn’t want the pressure of public opinion or fan theories while they were still navigating the early stages of being a couple. They had both been down that road before with relationships somewhat playing out on screen so they wanted to things to be for themselves for a while until they were ready to share. What they hadn’t anticipated was how quickly the internet would misinterpret Y/N and George’s friendship.
It all started one Friday night Y/N leaned back against the couch in Chris, Arthur and George's living room, scrolling through her phone. George sat beside her, editing a TikTok they'd just filmed a chaotic dance routine that involved several failed attempts and a lot of laughter.
"This is gold," George said, grinning as he watched the video.
"Pure comedy genius," Y/N agreed, sipping her wine as Chris was sat on the other sofa, a bemused smile on his face as he had watched all of the chaos unfold in front of him they did try to rope him into it too but Chris could be very stubborn.
The Tiktok had it’s fans, and they noticed that Y/N and George started posting several photos and videos together over the next few weeks, often tagging each other and teasing back and forth in the comments. Even when the weren’t together To them, it was harmless fun. To their fans, it was evidence of something more.
Tumblr media
George Clarkeey- I’m on a boat MF
Y/N- a Picture of you and all the women you’ve ever chatted up.
Tumblr media
Y/N Loving my new view in my flat.
George Clarkeey- Wear your bloody glasses for once and you’ll be able to see it.
On Twitter, hashtags like #Y/NAndGeorge and #NewYouTubeCouple were started to creep up. Fan edits of their TikToks flooded Instagram, accompanied by captions like, "Their chemistry is undeniable!" and "We ship it!"
Y/N showed one of the posts to George, who burst out laughing.
"They think we’re dating?" he said, eyes wide.
"Apparently," Y/N replied, shaking her head.
Chris walked into the room just then, his hair damp from a shower. "What’s so funny?" he asked, sitting on the armrest of the couch beside Y/N.
"People think I’m dating George," Y/N said, showing him the post.
Chris smirked, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes something like irritation. "Well, that’s... creative."
"Relax, Dixon," George said, clapping Chris on the back. "Your girlfriend's too classy for me."
"True," Y/N teased, earning a playful nudge from George.
As the weeks went on, the rumours only grew. Every time Y/N and George posted something together, fans speculated further. Chris tried to laugh it off, it wasn’t something they had expected to happen when they kept their relationship quiet and in all honesty it was quite a welcome distraction in some ways. He trusted Y/N completely, but seeing fans ship her with someone else—especially his flatmate—was frustrating. He couldn’t say anything publicly without revealing their relationship, and he didn’t want to be the jealous boyfriend, not that he was jealous he wasn’t ready to share things with the world just yet but there was a part of him that was quite it wasn’t him and Y/N who were getting the attention, there was still a big part of him that wanted to shout out his feelings from the rooftops and he felt a little guilty that he couldn’t always show her how much she meant to him in the way that he wanted to.
The rumours reached a fever pitch when a paparazzi photo surfaced of Y/N and George grabbing coffee together. In the picture, George was holding the door open for Y/N, who was laughing at something he’d said. The internet went wild.
“They’re so cute together!”
“Look at my boy all growing up.”
“I swear George has been crushing on her for ages.”
What people didn’t know was George and Y/N were picking up a coffee before going shopping together as George asked Y/N’s help to get him something for Chris’s birthday.
Then came the podcast
Max kicked off the episode with his usual sarcastic charm. "We’ve got a very special guest today—YouTube royalty herself, Y/N! Applause, please."
George clapped dramatically, making Y/N roll her eyes with a laugh.
"Thanks for having me, boys," Y/N said, settling into her seat.
She talked about making Youtube videos, including some of her silliest moments travelling including having three airlines go bust, a ton of lost luggage including a lot of expensive camera equipment and thoughts she was going to die when a plane she was on almost flew into a hurricane.
“People think my personal life is really interesting too,” Y/N started with a grin, a small glint also showed up in George’s eye, they were well aware of what people were saying and while they did nothing to fan the flames they didn’t stoke the fire either. They were friends, friends hung out together that was all it was. Y/N continued “but really I think because I travel a lot when I am home I just tend to hang out really. I do really like to cook actually George I need to give you lessons,” she added with a smile on her face. George sighed and slumped down in his chair slightly.
“It’s not that bad,” he tried to defend himself but it fell on deaf eyes. Max looked with an amused smirk as Y/N sat up straighter in his chair, leaning forward.
"Not that bad? Do you remember last week when you tried to make toast and somehow managed to burn it? Like, the smoke alarm went off, George. It’s toast. It has one job."
Max burst out laughing, while George groaned again. "Why do you have to bring that up? It was one time!"
"Once is all it takes to lose your cooking privileges," Y/N teased.
The conversation quickly shifted to other topics, but fans latched onto Y/N’s comment.
Clips of the episode went viral almost immediately, particularly Y/N’s anecdote about George burning toast. Fans dissected her casual delivery, honing in on one detail: why was Y/N there in the morning to witness it?
Twitter was flooded with speculation.
“Wait, Y/N was at George’s flat in the MORNING? 👀”
“They’re not even trying to hide it anymore!”
“So Y/N and George are definitely dating, right? She’s roasting his cooking like a true girlfriend.”
Y/N saw the posts later that evening and couldn’t help but laugh. She sent a screenshot of one particularly dramatic fan theory to George and Chris in their group chat.
Y/N: Apparently, I’m your girlfriend now because you can’t cook toast.
George: I mean, to be fair, I’d date me too.
Chris: This is getting ridiculous. You should’ve just told them you were there because of me. Plus George I can still smell burnt toast, whenever I walk into the kitchen I think I’m having a stroke, I’m useless.
Y/N: And ruin the mystery? Never.
George: Chris I thought you had Y/N to give you a stroke now?
Y/N:FFS George
Despite their lighthearted texts, Chris couldn’t shake the unease that lingered after the episode aired. Fans were taking Y/N’s story and running with it, creating elaborate timelines and theories about her supposed relationship with George.
One evening, as Chris and Y/N curled up on the couch watching a movie, he sighed.
"What’s wrong?" Y/N asked, glancing up at him.
"Just... all this George stuff," he admitted. "I know it’s dumb, but I hate that people think you’re with him. Like, we’re together, and no one knows."
Y/N’s expression softened. "Chris, they’re just having fun with their theories. It doesn’t change anything between us."
"I know," he said, running a hand through his hair. "It’s just hard sometimes, seeing people say stuff like that."
Y/N pressed a kiss to his cheek. "Well, if it helps, I’m planning something that’ll clear everything up soon."
Chris raised an eyebrow. "Should I be worried?"
"Probably," she said with a grin.
It took another couple of week but Chris and Y/N decided enough was enough, they were ready to share. Plus the rumours were becoming too ridiculous to ignore. Fans were dissecting every interaction between her and George, claiming they were secretly in love, there was even one rumour the pair were getting engaged, it was definitely going too far.
She drafted an Instagram post, carefully choosing her words. Then, with a mischievous smile, she typed the caption:
“Sorry, been f**ing the wrong flatmate 🙃.”*
Tumblr media
Y/N hit “post” and set her phone down.
Within minutes, her notifications exploded.
Fans were in a frenzy.
“WAIT WHAT?!”
“We’ve been duped!”
“I knew it was Chris all along!”
“The flatmate comment has me dead 💀.”
“Great cover story, I never would have predicted this.”
With their relationship public, Y/N and Chris felt a weight lift off their shoulders. They no longer had to hide their affection, and the rumours about Y/N and George quickly faded.
As for George, he milked the situation for all it was worth, joking in videos about being the “rejected flatmate” and pretending to be heartbroken. He posted his own photo of him and Arthur Hill, with the caption trying to make a certain someone jealous.
In the end, the chaos only brought them closer together. Y/N and Chris continued to share glimpses of their relationship with their fans, proving that sometimes, the best stories are the ones you don’t see coming.

One aspect of TikTok that's faded, but which was the major driver of panic about it for most of its life, was the TikTok Challenge: the moral panic about dangerous or offensive trends on TikTok that were taking over.
And I do mean moral panic because even basic research turns up that the majority of TikTok Challenge stories were unfounded, or exaggerated.
Many of them straight-up didn't happen. There are trends that never had a challenge attached at all, like Momo, but others were never a thing on TikTok at all. The stories have a similar form to them. For instance, there was once the "shoot up your school challenge" that sparked a huge series of warnings and cries to repeal Section 230 and ban this sick filth...and then, at the very end of those stories, an acknowledgement that there was no source video - that no one had found evidence it existed on TikTok at all.
Let's define a "challenge", because any bad thing that happens on TikTok was branded a "challenge". But in my view, it has to contain, well, a challenge: some element of showing yourself doing it, and then daring others to do it, too. As we'll see, it's actually pretty difficult to find evidence many challenges ever existed
One of the more well-documented is the alleged Benadryl challenge. In mid-2020, a trio of teens overdosed on Benadryl and claimed they got the idea from a TikTok claiming you can get high off taking it. They were treated at the hospital, and TikTok deleted the video in question and blocked the relevant hashtags. But then a couple months later stories about Benadryl overdose deaths started attributing it to the "Benadryl challenge". But...all they were doing was citing the original story as proof the challenge existed. A story that doesn't include a challenge, and where the TikTok video referenced had been deleted and the topic blocked. When a reporter actually investigated, they found no evidence of any challenge videos, and found that, just as TikTok had said, the search itself was blocked. In other words, and this is a trend you see a lot in coverage, the existence of a panic about something on TikTok meant everything sprang from TikTok: because of that story, any teen overdosing on Benadryl *had* to have gotten the idea from a TikTok challenge - TikTok had to be grafted on to every relevant story regardless of relevance, and each new story including it became more evidence it was all down to TikTok. Because teens would never do something irresponsible without an app...would they?
So let's talk about the elephant in the room. Tide pods. The Tide pod challenge was a thing, but it was not a thing to the extent that the media made it into a thing. So how many teens ate Tide pods?
86. Non-stop global media coverage for months over 86 teens doing a stupid stunt. While over 10,000 kids were accidentally exposed to laundry detergent in the year before with hardly any coverage. Discussions over, hey, maybe memes aside it's bad for children to have this dangerous thing look so colorful essentially stopped completely thanks to this panic, during which time stories about children unknowingly eating Tide pods were folded into the panic and attributed to the Tide Pod Challenge. Discussion of actual product safety, discussion of how to prevent harm to over TEN THOUSAND people, had to give way to a moral panic about 86
86 sounds bad, but is a really small number in the scheme of things - and absolutely disproportionate to the media coverage, which lasted for months and endlessly blasted all young people for eating Tide Pods.
There are others. For instance, after Kia failed to include an anti-theft device in their cars, thefts of Kia cars skyrocketed, and some young joyriders posted videos of this on TikTok and other platforms - and posted guides on how to do it yourself. These videos were removed, but somehow "someone posted a guide to steal an easy-to-steal car online" turned into "there's a challenge on TikTok daring you to steal cars" which then turned into attributing all thefts of the car without anti-theft tech in it to TikTok. But in this case, there is a source video, an original video that made stealing Kias look cool.
It was posted on Youtube.
"Slap a Teacher" went viral, and was a complete hoax, as was NyQuil Chicken. Many of the videos in the "Devious Licks" challenge were, as well, hoaxes. These stories go viral enough to spark a well-meaning FDA warning saying hey, don't do this, which is taken as evidence that people were doing it. But in just about every case, it's relatively few people, or the challenge didn't exist. The stories have a familiar form: description of death or incident, statement from concerned parents, interviews with cops and maybe a child psychologist, and then a denial from TikTok. What these stories rarely, if ever, include is any citations of where on TikTok the challenge began, or any independent research into them. Notably, even stories admitting it's a hoax often go on to talk about how we need to control it anyway. When TikTok said a video didn't exist on their platform, it's natural to suspect the social media corporation of lying, but oddly they appear to have been telling the truth most of the time, and were rightly saying content didn't exist or only made up a few videos stopped early on.
(I'm mainly talking about America, but this happened internationally, too. There was, as I understand it, a major panic about the "Charlie Charlie" challenge in Latin America - indeed, it was the panic that brought it to the Anglosphere - but it was, you know. Literally just Ouija boards/Bloody Mary. Meanwhile, the "Blue Whale" challenge started in Russia, off a reporter essentially imagining a game because two teens who died by suicide had images of blue whales on their computers, but there's no evidence of any challenge - but the press, normally reluctant to report on suicides, rushed to give breathless coverage to teen suicides - which, after all, only happen due to the Blue Whale game - likely causing copycats of a game that never existed. Most ridiculously, when a video of a creepy statue of Michael Jackson went viral, Mexican police warned parents about the "Ayuwoki Challenge". Which was...looking at a creepy statue of Michael Jackson online)
But let's address the real elephant in the room. Of the TikTok challenges that really took place to some degree, what are they? Devious Licks was about vandalizing school property. The Tide Pod challenge and its ilk were about eating something stupid. The Milk Crate challenge and its like were about doing dangerous stunts.
And I experienced TikTok challenges like this when I was in high school. I remember this group of kids who egged one of their number on to punch glass, which shredded their hand; I remember people being dared to snort pixie stix dust off the table; I remember people stealing the soap dispensers from the bathroom and the mouse balls out of the mice, because oh wait, it wasn't TikTok challenges, all that happened when I was in 9th grade in 2004
The TikTok challenges that are *real* are just...routine teen misbehavior? Being attributed to an app ruining the kid's minds. Teenagers have been peer pressuring each other into doing stupid things since time immemorial; it didn't start because of phones.
The people who spread these panics did or saw equally dumb things when they were that age. Now that they're older, and parents themselves, it's scary and dangerous. How do you reconcile that? You don't - what you did as a kid was an innocent prank, the same acts happening now are scary and Never Happened When I Was A Kid. So there must be some explanation. In the 80s it was metal music, in the 90s & 00s it was video games, and in the 2020s it was TikTok Challenges. There always has to be some media corrupting the youth into doing what the youth have always done, because "you grew up and became more mature and aware of your own mortality" is not an option you want to dwell on. Meanwhile, actual harmful trends go unnoticed; most of the people who spent a year dunking on teens bc 86 people ate Tide Pods have no idea about how many teen boys have become, essentially, cultists for figures like Andrew Tate or how hard they're being recruited; coverage was lavished on challenges that never existed, but not on true crime obsessives starting a hate campaign claiming a trans woman on TikTok was a serial killer
There are two other factors here. One is a drive to not take the issues facing young people seriously. This has been a long-term function for moral panics - since it's easier to say kids don't face any real problems, they're just being corrupted by outsiders, and we just need to ban video games or "Satanic" music or Slenderman or TikTok challenges to 'fix' it. You had real problems as a teen; but these kids today, they're just whiners. If teens no longer overdose or act out or harm themselves for any reason but Being Told To Online, then there's no need to look any deeper at society
The other is that the defining moral panic since 2020 has been the idea that young people are a barely-literate fascistic mob of unruly hooligans who are acting out More Than Ever, a moral panic that's being used to push legislation that harshly cracks down on the rights of young people and their access to society and their ability to be independent from their parents. But I heard some anecdotes that kids are, like, totally mean now when they never were before so it's probably true, and we should make them their parent's property to stop it

WELCOME TO OC HALLOWEEN CHALLENGE 2O24!
SMILE because it's time for the annual oc halloween challenge! We will see the evil, hear the evil, and speak the evil with these spooky challenges brought to you by @aliverse, @astarionbae, @endless-oc-creations, and @come-along-pond!
If this is your first time, here's the lowdown; This is an event that takes place over the 31 days of October and presents oc creators with Halloween-themed challenges to encourage creativity, foster community, and have fun! Some of these have guidelines/suggestions, but this is very much a free-for-all so you can ignore them if they don't fit with your interpretations.
RULES
DO NOT copy others edits.
If you are doing crossovers, PLEASE make sure that the creator of the other oc is okay with crossovers.
If you want your post to be reblogged onto this blog, it must contain the hashtag ohc2024.
Feel free to ask questions, I promise I’m more treat than trick.
Everything is up to the creators interpretation, although I have tried to include some examples for help!
Have fun!
Day One: Godly Parent
Whether Greek, Roman, Norse, Egyptian, or any other; What "God" could have created your oc?
Day Two: Mystical Communication
There are tons of ways we think we can communicate with those beyond our realm such as Tarot Cards, Oujia Boards, Prayer, EMFs, or even through other people with otherworldly powers. Which method would your oc use? Or maybe they are the communication tool?
Day Three: Merch/Memorabilia
When we really love something, we want a piece of it with us. What merch would people buy of your ocs? Ex. Dolls (like funkos or Barbie crossovers), Clothes (like shirts or sweatshirts), Buttons/Patches, Dishware (like cups or plates), trading cards, posters, or even spin-off books of the show they star in.
Day Four: If They Were Canon AU
You could create an actor oc who plays your character or even make edits about how you think your ocs faceclaim would promote/interpret their character and get along with fellow cast members.
Day Five: Social Media AU
Within their canon, what would your ocs Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, Tumblr, Snapchat, and/or YouTube look like?
Day Six: Role Swap AU
Give your oc a role in their story that is different than the one they already have. Whether this is making a hero a villain or vice versa, your victim a survivor or vice versa, or anything else you can think of.
Day Seven: Butterfly Effect
One choice could change the trajectory of our lives or any game we play. Show us the effects of your oc making the wrong choice when they originally made the right choice, befriending someone they originally hated, or even just missing their alarm.
Day Eight: Multiverse
Maybe you have multiple ocs with the same faceclaim, maybe you have a friend(s) who have ocs with the same faceclaim that you've wanted to do a crossover with, or maybe you want your oc to meet some of the actual characters their faceclaim has played. No matter what it is, it's time for your ocs to meet their multiverse counterparts!
Day Nine: Literature AU
Put your oc into an alternate universe based off a book you enjoy whether it be a classic or a newer one, no matter the genre.
Day Ten: Dungeons & Dragons AU
Have your ocs play DND, make an au based off a classic DND campaign, or just tell us the stats of your oc in DND terms.
Day Eleven: Ghost AU
Sometimes when we die, we don't leave. Tell us the unfinished business that keeps your ocs ghost on Earth, who your oc would haunt, how they would haunt, or anything else related to your oc being a ghost!
Day Twelve: Supernatural AU
Make your human oc a supernatural creature or your supernatural oc a different supernatural character.
Day Thirteen: Video Game AU
Show us some of what your story would look like as a video game or put your ocs into your favorite game.
Day Fourteen: Musical AU
The doctor said I couldn't talk, he didn't say I couldn't siiinnnggg! Put your oc into your favorite musical such as Hamilton or Mean Girls, or come up with some original lyrics to show what you think your story would look like if it were written as a musical.
Day Fifteen: Nostalgia
Take the books, shows, or movies you enjoyed as a child and put your oc into them! Or, show us what your oc enjoyed as a child.
Day Sixteen: Fairytale AU
One of the most classics of classics. Make your oc a character in your favorite fairytale, whether you prefer the Grimm or Disney version, or make up a fairytale about your oc!
Day Seventeen: Being is Believing
For day seventeen, think about superstitions, urban legends, or folklore and either make your oc a part of them, make your oc experience them, or tell us which ones your oc believes.
Day Eighteen: Beloved Pet or Object Turned Human
It's not unusual for someone to grow an emotional attatchment to an animal or an inanimate object. What would your ocs beloved pet or object say if they turned human and could speak your ocs langauge?
Day Nineteen: Genre Switch
Whatever the genre of your story is, swap it with another one. Maybe your romance story is now a horror story, your comedy is now a tragedy, or your historical realism story is now future sci-fi.
Day Twenty: Darkest After Dawn
Things can go so right for so long and then suddenly so wrong. Show us what happens when something rains on your ocs parade, when a perfect day turns into a horrible night, or a dream vacation turns into a nightmare trap.
Day Twenty-One: Apocalypse AU
Put your oc into an alternate universe that's been thrust into an apocalypse whether that be because of zombies, aliens, radiation, or the Earth trying to reclaim its land.
Day Twenty-Two: Time Problems
Let's play with time for this challenge. Picture your story as if it has always taken place in a different time, throw your oc into a time loop, or have them somehow travel through time.
Day Twenty-Three: Horrorify A Song
Take your favorite Halloween song and tell it's story, or even take a perfectly innocent song and give it a horrifying meaning! Both using your ocs, obviously.
Day Twenty-Four: What's Your Favorite Scary Movie?
It wouldn't be Halloween without some good scary movies. Put your ocs into one of your favorite scary movies!
Day Twenty-Five: Horror Location
This is an easier throwback to one of the week long challenges we've done for this event. Make something that tells a horror story of your oc at a certain location such as a Hospital/Asylum, Summer Camp, Place of Worship, Cemetery/Tomb, House/Apartment, Hotel/Cabin, or Farm/Ranch.
Day Twenty-Six: Horror Subgenres
Another throwback to a week long challenge we've done for this event. Make something that tells a horror story of your oc within a horror subgenre such as extraterrestrial, apocalypse, monster, time loop, isolation, time loop, cult, doppleganger, or anything else you can think of.
Day Twenty-Seven: Horror Archetypes
Which horror character tropes do your ocs embody? The Final Girl or The Killer? The Accomplice or The Harmless Antagonist? The Harbinger or The Nonbeliever? The Comedic Relief or The Hysteric Annoyance?
Day Twenty-Eight: Solo Costume
Show us what your oc would dress up as for Halloween! Would they dress sexy? Scary? Lazy? Practical?
Day Twenty-Nine: Couples Costume
Show us what matching costume your oc and their love interest would wear! Peanut Butter & Jelly? Morticia & Gomez? Bert & Ernie?
Day Thirty: Group Costume
Show us what costumes your oc and their friend group would coordinate. Are they the Scooby Gang? The Wiggles? Mario Party Characters?
Day Thirty-One: Here's A Treat!
The Halloween potluck isn't happening this year but we still want to encourage interaction and giving. So, choose someone to give a treat! This could be an ask, an edit, some writing, or even a playlist.

I need them to make another season of House MD with all the same cast members reprising their roles. there are so many “new” aspects they could explore now with how much things and technology changed since the last ep aired.
someone here literally mentioned Chase secretly having an OF account if the show aired today. absolutely yes. absolutely in character for him.
imagine House saying how much he hates TikTok but secretly has a TikTok account where he trash talks Cuddy and Wilson, but because he has them blocked, they didn’t know he trash talked about them on TikTok to millions of his followers until a patient came in one day and went “omg you’re doctor House with the Cane (capital C). and omg is that Wilson? THEE Wilson?! omg are you doctor Cuddy? I’ve heard so much about you!!” and House was just “no, I didn’t block either of you because I was talking shit about you. I blocked you because you’re annoying and I don’t want your presence on my TikTok. it is my personal space. do I hate the app? of course, I do. that doesn’t mean I can’t use it to tell millions of my followers how annoying you two are.”
Cameron trying to tell House the severity of Cancel Culture and how they can ruin his career if he doesn’t stop being insensitive about everything. and House insisting that he’s “above Cancel Culture”. maybe he is. or maybe he’s not. but the point is that he doesn’t give a shit if a bunch of teenagers try to cancel him on twitter / x. Cuddy can’t fire him just because he’s “cancelled”. and he’s not going to jail or losing his license for being an ass and getting “cancelled” with the hashtag #DoctorHouseIsOverParty on twitter every other week.
a patient who live streams everything and making it difficult for House and the team to treat them?
a dumb TikTok challenge that ended in dozens of people being rushed to the hospital?
House eventually getting accused of being addicted to TikTok by Cuddy and trying to prove her wrong only to end up proving her right and that he is, in fact, addicted to the app he “can’t stand”?
Foreman and Cameron being the only ones who actually dislike social media like TikTok and how distracting they are / how they’re the reason people (idiots) got rushed to the hospital?
Chase losing a bet and having to do a TikTok dance for House to post?
I need a modern version of House MD (but with the same cast) please. they can completely ignore the original ending and pretend it didn’t happen if that’s what it takes. idc I just need 2025 House

Sexy driver pt2. One hand on the wheel, the other holding yours. Just watching his arms flex as he changes gears is enough to have you flustered. Always opens your door for you and helps you get in. Let’s you pick the music and pulls over if you want takeout
Concedes the aux cord but has pretty good taste in music. Prefers more mellow sounds. Indie, jazz, soft rock. He takes you to local shows as dates and will either watch you dance, or hold you close to slow jams. FestivalDaichi! is a new man. Get him drunk and he gets handsy. (Drunk kisses 🤤)
Just loves to spend time with you. The best day out partner. Breakfast at a cafe in the morning, holds your bags and your hand. He doesn't complain if you wanna try on clothes or shoes or browse games, he’s just genuinely happy to be there
A handyman. Owns a tool belt that you bought him and looks damn good in it too. Puts up shelves, fixes sinks, cleans gutters, mows lawns. And if it’s summer, then you have a shirtless handyman to boot. (Note to self: handman Daichi 😌)
Speaking of shirtless Daichi, because of his rota at the firestation (hashtag: FiremanDaichiForLife) he prefers to workout at home. He works out in the garden when it’s warm, and in the living room when it’s cooler. Either way, you have a free show at least twice a week. He will let you sit on his back while he does push ups, or hold you while he squats
Will indulge all your couple tiktok challenges with a sheepish grin, and fondness in your eyes. The comments are full of ‘get you a man who looks at you like that’
This man is romantic. I’m talking candlelit dinner, flowers for no reason, surprise lunch at your workplace. He’s just a modern, old-fashioned man who treats you like a treasure
The king of soft intimacy. Cooking together. Baths together. Wine and candles in your living room. Cuddles, cuddles, cuddles. Play with his hair and you risk just putting him straight to sleep, but who can resist the world’s best weighted blanket.
Daichi is forever your personal cheerleader. He supports all your choices, dreams, and goals. He’ll give you advice, or talk through anything you’re hesitant on. Even if they’re whimsical. You wanna start dance classes. He’ll go to any recital. You decide to switch to marathon running, he’ll be there with a sign and a gallon of water. Cosplay, chocolate making, fanfiction 😉. He doesn’t care, as long as you’re happy
Call. Him. Daddy. And let him fuck you into the mattress or kitchen table, or sofa, or floor as a result
I touched on this briefly once, but choke him. You are Not in charge, but he just loves the feeling of your hand on his throat. The flutter of your fingers as he makes you cum
An ass man through and through. At this point his fingerprints are embedded in your ass cheeks from the way he grips them. Doggy; he’s spanking you. Missionary; he’s using your ass as leverage. Riding him; better believe he’s squeezing it as he makes you bounce harder.
Speaking of handy men, he has big hands and puts them to good use. Sits you on his lap and fingers you until he thinks you’re ready
Thick thighs save lives, and Daichi wants you to ride his. He’ll lick your nipples while you do, and basks in the mess you make on his thighs as a result (clearly my thoughts revolve around sitting in his lap and having a great time)
Without fail, will pull them panties to the side. Even on days when you have time to get naked. Loves the way you look in lingerie and loves the way you soak the fabric when he makes you cum
Daichi just make brain go brrr. Nothing but respect for my husband captain

Witchcraft in the Digital Age
Tumblr media
The 21st century didn’t just bring us smartphones, social media, and memes—it also ushered witchcraft into the technological spotlight. With the power of Wi-Fi and a little keyboard magic, witches from all over the world can connect, learn, and cast spells in ways that our broomstick-riding ancestors couldn’t have dreamed of. Let’s explore how the digital age has revolutionized witchcraft, from online covens to the rise of TikTok witches, and everything in between.
From Grimoires to Google Docs: Sharing Knowledge in the Digital Realm
In the pre-internet days, learning witchcraft often required finding a mentor, stumbling upon the right dusty book in the back of a shop, or deciphering cryptic information passed down orally. Now, a quick Google search can teach you how to cleanse your crystals, create moon water, or banish negative energy—all without leaving your couch.
The internet has democratized access to witchcraft, tearing down barriers that once kept this knowledge elusive. Blogs, YouTube channels, and digital libraries offer endless resources on every kind of practice imaginable. Whether you’re into Wicca, Hoodoo, traditional witchcraft, or chaos magic, there’s a treasure trove of information waiting to be explored. This accessibility has also helped reclaim and preserve marginalized magical traditions, giving practitioners a platform to share their practices and connect with others.
Hashtag Hexes: Social Media and the Rise of the Digital Witch
Social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Pinterest have given witchcraft a visually stunning makeover. Witchy influencers share photos of perfectly curated altars, short how-to videos, and aesthetic spell tutorials that look as good as they (hopefully) work. But it’s TikTok, affectionately nicknamed “WitchTok,” that has truly taken the digital cauldron by storm.
On WitchTok, creators share everything from beginner tips to elaborate rituals, often condensed into bite-sized videos with trending audio tracks. Want to learn about planetary correspondences or the best herbs for protection spells? There’s a TikTok for that. Need a quick guide to reading tarot? Someone’s already made a video with helpful graphics and snarky commentary.
While WitchTok has made witchcraft more accessible and engaging for younger generations, it’s not without its quirks (or curses, depending on who you ask). Viral trends like the infamous “hexing the moon” incident highlight the occasional clash between traditional practitioners and younger, less experienced witches. However, these moments also spark important discussions about respect, responsibility, and the need for deeper knowledge.
Digital Covens: Finding Your Community Online
Gone are the days when witches had to rely solely on local communities or secret gatherings to find their covens. Today, online forums, Discord servers, and Facebook groups have become virtual meeting spaces for witches of all paths. These digital covens offer a space to share spells, ask questions, and support one another, all while sipping tea in your pajamas.
The inclusivity of online spaces has been a game-changer for those who might not have access to in-person communities. Witches in conservative areas, individuals with disabilities, and those who prefer solitary practice can still feel connected to a broader magical network. Platforms like Reddit’s r/witchcraft or specialized apps like Amino provide spaces for open dialogue, mentorship, and collaboration.
Of course, online communities have their challenges. Differing opinions, misinformation, and the occasional “gatekeeper” can make these spaces tricky to navigate. But for many witches, the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.
The Curse of Misinformation
While the internet has made witchcraft more accessible, it’s also created a breeding ground for misinformation. Not every TikTok spell or Pinterest graphic is accurate—or safe. Some “quick fixes” can lead to unintended consequences (like burning cinnamon on charcoal and nearly setting off the fire alarm) or appropriating practices without understanding their cultural significance.
It’s become increasingly important for modern witches to verify their sources, cross-reference information, and approach their craft with respect and curiosity. The digital age might make learning easier, but it also requires a critical eye to separate authentic wisdom from clickbait magic.
The E-Commerce Boom: Spell Kits, Crystals, and Online Witch Shops
The rise of e-commerce has transformed how witches gather their tools. Need ethically sourced sage, a crescent moon-shaped candle, or a deck of oracle cards? Etsy, Amazon, and countless independent online shops have got you covered. You can even have spell kits delivered to your doorstep, complete with instructions and pre-measured ingredients.
While this convenience is undeniably appealing, it’s also sparked debates within the community. Concerns about over-harvesting herbs like white sage, the exploitation of crystal miners, and the commercialization of spiritual practices have led many witches to seek sustainable and ethical alternatives. Supporting small businesses and researching sourcing practices are key ways to ensure your magic aligns with your values.
The Rise of Witchcraft Apps and Digital Tools
In the digital age, there’s an app for everything—including witchcraft. Astrology apps like Co-Star and The Pattern provide daily horoscopes and personalized birth chart insights, while moon phase trackers help witches plan their rituals around lunar cycles. Tarot apps, spell planners, and even virtual altars make it easier than ever to integrate magic into everyday life.
These tools are especially useful for witches on the go or those looking to organize their practice in a more structured way. However, as with all technology, it’s important to balance convenience with mindfulness. After all, no app can replace the personal connection and intuition that lie at the heart of witchcraft.
Social Justice and Activism in the Digital Age
The internet has also amplified witchcraft’s role in social justice and activism. Modern witches often use their platforms to advocate for causes like climate change, racial justice, and LGBTQ+ rights, blending their magical practices with activism. Hexing political figures, creating protection spells for protestors, and fundraising for marginalized communities are just a few examples of how digital witches are making their voices heard.
This intersection of magic and activism has strengthened witchcraft’s position as a tool for empowerment and resistance. The digital age has given witches the power not just to connect with each other, but to amplify their collective voices and effect real-world change.
The Future of Witchcraft in the Digital Era
As technology continues to evolve, so too will witchcraft. Virtual reality rituals, AI-powered tarot readings, and blockchain-based spell trading might sound like something out of a sci-fi novel, but they’re closer than you think. The digital age has opened up endless possibilities for innovation, creativity, and connection in the magical community.
But even as witchcraft embraces the future, its essence remains timeless. At its core, magic is about intention, connection, and transformation—whether you’re casting a spell by candlelight or clicking “like” on a WitchTok video.
Witchcraft in the digital age is a vibrant, dynamic blend of ancient tradition and modern innovation. It’s a world where hashtags meet history, and technology bridges the gap between solitary practitioners and global communities. While the digital realm presents its share of challenges, it’s ultimately given witches a platform to thrive, connect, and reimagine what it means to practice magic in the 21st century.

Tumblr media
On Tuesday morning, celebrities like Stephen Curry, Olivia Rodrigo, and Kerry Washington used their social media platforms to mark National Voter Registration Day, a nonpartisan effort to get Americans to sign up to vote in November’s election.
But at the same time, a group of MAGA influencers were rolling out a very different message about voting to their followers.
“Millions of illegals have been crossing our southern border, many of them who are coming are drug traffickers and sex traffickers. But what I’m worried about is the illegal voting,” Danielle D'Souza Gill said in an Instagram video she shared to her 255,000 followers, alongside the hashtag #OnlyCitizensVote. D’Souza Gill is the daughter of election conspiracist and right-wing pundit Dinesh D’Souza and wife to Brandon Gill, a Trump-endorsed election denier who recently won the GOP nomination to run for Congress in Texas’ 26th district.
Her video about immigrants voting is not a one-off. It’s part of a coordinated effort called “National Only Citizens Vote” week that has been rolling out since Monday. The campaign has been coordinated by a network of election denial groups who created the Only Citizens Vote Coalition to centralize their efforts. A WIRED review of recordings of half a dozen meetings to plan out “National Only Citizens Vote” week has revealed that the organizers, guest speakers, and volunteers who are participating are pushing conspiracies about immigrants, planning to post threatening signs at polling places, and blaming the “evil left” for stealing the election even before a vote has been cast.
The coalition was spearheaded by Cleta Mitchell, a former Trump adviser and attorney who was on the infamous call in 2020 when Trump asked Georgia state officials to reverse the election results. Mitchell has personally hosted online Zoom calls for the last several months where hundreds of local volunteers were given marching orders about how to spread the conspiracy about immigrants voting.
For the week, the coalition created a website filled with resources including PowerPoint presentations, handouts, posters, and printable signs in Spanish and English warning: “If you are NOT a citizen of the United States of America, it is ILLEGAL for you to vote.” Across platforms like X, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube, volunteers and GOP influencers with huge followings have been encouraged to post memes and videos pushing the conspiracy. The campaign also incorporates offline activities, encouraging supporters to attend flag-waving events on street corners, hand out bumper stickers and yard signs, write to their local representatives, and seek airtime on local TV and radio stations to spread the conspiracy.
Monday was dedicated to “shining a light” on noncitizen voting, Tuesday “celebrated citizenship, and Wednesday focused on “federal action.” Friday is, unironically it seems, dedicated to “protecting noncitizen voters” when the activists will push the message that voting when not a citizen could get you deported.
It’s the culmination of the last six months of work from election denial groups like Mitchell’s Election Integrity Network, which has been spreading election conspiracies for the last four years, as well as organizations like the Tea Party Patriots and the Election Transparency Initiative, a group headed up by former Virginia attorney general Ken Cuccinelli and backed by far-right billionaire Dick Uihlein. Their work hasn’t been in a vacuum: Former president Donald Trump, Republican lawmakers, conservative activists, and right-wing pundits have been strenuously pushing the lie that a flood of immigrants pose a threat to the integrity of the 2024 elections.
The connective tissue between the Trump campaign and the grassroots activists spreading the conspiracy is the Election Integrity Network, a group established in the wake of the 2020 election by Mitchell. The Election Integrity Network, which earlier this year was involved in mass voter roll challenges, has established a huge network of regional, state, and county-level groups with tens of thousands of activists who attend regular online information sessions about everything from poll worker recruitment to media training.
In recent weeks, Mitchell and her staff have been laser-focused on the threat of noncitizens voting, according to WIRED’s review of recordings of more than half a dozen meetings. In a series of online webinars, each attended by hundreds of volunteers, Mitchell and her colleagues have spoken at length about the supposed threat posed by immigrants, while providing no evidence to back up their claims.
“The noncitizen voting has become one of the top talking points this election cycle, despite effectively zero evidence of it being a widespread problem. They're just going on vibes,” Brendan Fischer, deputy executive director at Documented, tells WIRED. “It's become a centerpiece of MAGA-oriented messaging in the run-up to the 2024 election, embraced by everybody from Donald Trump, House speaker Mike Johnson, to Elon Musk, in part because it links together two of the right's biggest talking points for this election: immigration and the big lie that the 2020 election was stolen.”
All the available evidence suggests that noncitizen voting accounts for a vanishingly small fraction of a percent of the votes cast in US elections. The GOP push to suggest this is a problem echoes much of the rhetoric around the great replacement conspiracy, which falsely suggests that a “cabal of global elites” is encouraging people of color to immigrate and replace white voters. Experts also believe the narrative is being seeded as a scare tactic designed to lay the groundwork for Trump and his allies to once again question the outcome of the vote.
The push to make immigrant voting an issue began to gather steam in April when, standing alongside Trump at Mar-a-Lago, House speaker Mike Johnson said he was working on some voter suppression legislation to make it illegal for noncitizens to vote—which it already is. That legislation became the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act—better known as the SAVE Act—which not only seeks to make it illegal for noncitizens to vote (again, it is already illegal) but to also introduce a requirement for people registering to vote to provide documentary proof that they are citizens.
According to a June survey by the Center for Democracy and Civic Engagement, this measure would disenfranchise one in 10 voters, or around 18 million people, who for various reasons have difficulty accessing the documents like passports and birth certificates necessary to prove they are citizens. The White House dismissed the bill in July as “based on easily disproven falsehoods.”
These claims have made it to the mainstream: Last month, Fox News host Maria Bartiromo posted on X about a friend of a friend who claims to have seen “a massive line of immigrants getting licenses and had a tent and table outside the front door of the DMV registering them to vote.” The claims were quickly debunked, with Texas Department of Public Safety spokesperson Sergeant William Lockridge telling The Fort Worth Star-Telegram that “none of it is true” and that the claims were “kind of racist.”
X owner Elon Musk has also helped the conspiracy theory go viral. In July, he wrote on X that the Democratic party’s “goal all along has been to import as many illegal voters as possible.” Trump even repeated the claim last week during the presidential debate. “Our elections are bad,” said Trump. “And lots of these illegal immigrants coming in, they're trying to get them to vote.”
Now, as Trump’s acolytes push this lie at a hyper-local level, experts are concerned about the danger to voters and nonvoters alike.
“There is the potential for intimidation that results from these efforts, [such as] the [Election Integrity Network] activists showing up at the polls and calling into question the eligibility of non-English speakers or nonwhite voters,” Fischer says.
Many of the volunteers participating in the calls organized by the Election Integrity Network also repeated rumors and conspiracies, some in relation to the claims that pro-Democrat NGOs were registering immigrants across the country.
“I would also like to see something like television ads or billboards in Spanish specifically warning, if you are not a citizen and you vote, that is a felony and you would be subject to immediate deportation, something like that, very crisply stated,” an attendee named Pat said at one meeting. She added that the message should be targeted directly at Spanish-speaking communities, resulting in “a lot of people saying, ‘I'm not going to the polls.’”
In some cases, speakers voiced entirely new conspiracies. One woman named Patty King from Tennessee, on a call on August 22, claimed they had “identified illegal immigrants that have registered through the homeless shelters. I have over 564 of them,” adding in the next breath: “Proving that and then proving that they voted is another very big problem.”
A number of participants on the calls self-identified as election officials, poll workers, and representatives of their local Republican Party.
One attendee on a recent call was Deanna De’Liberto, who was recently named by her local Republican Party as the presidential elector for North Carolina's 5th District. De’Liberto raised a conspiracy about immigrants skewing the electoral maps in favor of the Democrats.
The meetings have also featured a number of prominent guest speakers, including Mike Howell, executive director of the Heritage Foundation's Oversight Project. The Heritage Foundation, the ultra-conservative group behind the dystopian Project 2025 plan, has been at the forefront of pushing the lie that noncitizens are voting in huge numbers. The group has also posted a number of “explosive” undercover videos claiming to show how noncitizens can obtain fake documents; a recent New York Times investigation debunked the claims made in a number of those videos.
“[The Biden administration] is mobilizing this huge, targeted, [get out the vote] government-funded operation at their preferred demographics, which obviously includes illegal aliens,” Howell told those listening, without providing any evidence to back up this claim.
And just last week, representative Chip Roy, a Republican from Texas who is the main sponsor of the SAVE Act in the House, spoke to the weekly meeting, answering questions from attendees and urging them all to continue pushing the conspiracy theory. Days earlier, Mitchell had appeared at a Judiciary Committee Hearing chaired by Roy on Capitol Hill, discussing the very same topic.
While the activists behind Only Citizens Vote week claim the initiative is meant to be about protecting US democracy, the reality is that pushing these conspiracies disenfranchises voters, or worse.
Last month, officers from Texas attorney general Ken Paxton’s Election Integrity Unit conducted early morning raids on the homes of Latino civil rights activists, including multiple members of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), as part of “ongoing election integrity investigations.” While the press release announcing the raids did not mention noncitizens specifically, Paxton has been among the loudest voices pushing the conspiracy about immigrants voting.
The noncitizen voting conspiracy “is certainly part of the reason that Latino nonprofit organizations, civic leaders, and LULAC members were targeted,” Juan Proaño, the CEO of LULAC, told WIRED about his organization’s members being attacked. “This is setting a precedent in the courts to normalize these tactics, so they can be copied in other Republican states.”
“There’s a reason Joe Biden brought people here illegally,” Paxton said on The Joe Pags Show last month. “I’m convinced that that’s how they’re going to do it this time, they’re going to use the illegal vote. Why were they brought in, why did he bring in 14 million people? He brought them here to vote.”
“It's hard to think of anything more intimidating than having someone who's involved in civic activism and voter turnout have their home raided, and it appears that those raids have been motivated by these noncitizen-voting conspiracy theories,” Fischer says.
Beyond all the bluster and divisive rhetoric, another possible reason that the GOP is so focused on this non-issue, experts believe, is that they are simply laying the groundwork to question the outcome of November’s vote.
“Why is it happening now?’ Michael Waldman, CEO of the Brennan Center for Justice, said last month during a House committee hearing on the SAVE Act. “It’s being pushed preemptively, I believe, to set the stage for undermining the legitimacy of the 2024 election this year. The Big Lie is being pre-deployed.”

okay okay okay I know you said no stories (understandable the holidays wiped me out too agshwsj) but I just got this random idea in my head and I could wait...!
So you know how voice filters are so normal now? even copying VA's to a seriously convincing level. What if people started using L's usual voice filter? Like nothing malicious, just people posting the craziest shit using THE detective L voice.
voice clips, shit posts, thirst traps, tiktok sounds of his public challenge on kira, people hating and simping on main and L can only helplessly watch. His pride won't allow him to change the filter he uses he made that himself it's his damnit! it'd be useless anyways, they'd just copy that too .
What can he do? are there legal repercussions? can he even copyright that? or is he doomed to be the biggest meme for the next 3 months like all public figures are subject to in life? Does L even notice?
So can I request an L-centric headcanon for this? You don't have to do it right away! Write whenever you feel like it! I just thought it'd be funny. Have a happy holiday!✨
–🍰 anon
That's My Voice! ╾ L
PFFTJSBAHHAHA CAN YOU IMAGINE?! this is the best way to start of 2024 pfft
also I have rested and relaxationed™ so I am doing a hc/story snippet mix!
okay okay yes. let's go.
 ★━━─・‥…━━━☆
It's hard to say how quickly L would notice if this happened. Perhaps on the first day; perhaps he'd remain oblivious until it all blew over. the former is more likely than the latter.
but oh gosh once he notices...
Putting the key in the lock and turning it, you expected to find L standing right in the doorframe to greet you, the affectionate weirdo that he is. But he's staring in horror at one of the monitors lighting the room, mouth wide open and a lollipop forgotten in his mouth.
"y/n, they've stolen my voice!"
he probably hasn't encountered this kind of technology outside of like, criminals faking voices to commit crime or whatever so he's completely confused as to how and why ordinary citizens are using the voice filter he spent months of his childhood tinkering with.
they should make their own! can't he use copyright or something?!
"Oh, don't worry so much, L. It's just a trend, it will blow over quickly! There is no harm in them having fun."
He throws his arms in the air and for a moment you're concerned he's going to tip his seat over again. "What do you mean there's no harm?! They are 'simping,'" with the most dramatic air quotes you have ever seenー L must have learnt the term and immediately decided it did not deserve to be a wordー "for a cartoon man named Miguel from Arachnid-Man! In my voice, y/n!"
And you burst out laughing, which doesn't seem to help at all.
L goes silent and furious for a good hour as he desperately searches for a way to stop this from happening. I don't know the copyright laws myself, but I imagine as it isn't L's real voice and he likely wouldn't have seen the need to apply for a patent (or whatever equivalent there is to protect a voice filter), he wouldn't be able to do anything about it.
he would still seriously consider taking these good-for-nothings to court though...
You watch with both a- and bemusement as L taps his bottom lip over and over, fast.
"L," you say, "what are you thinking?"
It's not a good sign when that British accent begins to fall over his words. "I am weighing up how likely it is I would win a court case to sue for millions, strip these imbeciles of the right to technology, and publicly humiliate them. Do you think we could bring back tar-and-feathering...?"
DO NO T LET HIM. hahags it will take a solid hour or more of convincing but L will eventually give up, pouting and dedicatedly following the hashtag #iamLtoo
he might actually learn a lot about popular culture
he might also fall out of his chair in shock and cry
so, you win some, you lose some. maybe it's best to just take away his browsing privileges and remind him of whatever case he's working on. DISTRACT DISTRACT!
you're right, his pride would definitely stop him from trying to stop these "trollers" (he called them trolleys at least three times) via changing his voice filter. He made it himself, he won't give it up because of some teen living in their parents' garage!!! Though he might try to rig a program to detect people using it and delete their accounts or whatever
not sure how to segue into this one but here's another story bit
After finally calming L down and reminding him the tar-and-feather punishment was abolished for a reason, you manage to get into bed for some rest. To your surprise, L joins you, staring expressionlessly at the ceiling. This is what he always does when thinking, so you assume his mind is on the case and he's forgotten about the whole voice fiasco until he starts... cackling.
"L..."
Yep, there's a good chance he'll swing from "this is the most horrible thing that's ever happened to me ever!!??'!;;'!;';!!;"! :(" to quoting the memes.
he might actually really enjoy some of them.
though it's hard to tell if he genuinely thinks some of what these "trolleys" are doing is creative and amusing or if it's just a coping strategy for the next few months.
well, that is until he makes a subtle reference to the most viral of the videos in his next address to the public...
after that I'm afraid the craze sets off once again
L will sit back and watch with a smile
though if one of the uses of his voice filter insults him the whole thing is shut down faster than you can say tar-and-feathers
"You're a strange man, you know that?"
"So is this 'Miguel' character."
 ★━━─・‥…━━━☆

Privacy Concerns: How Gen Z is Protecting Their Data?
What’s the first thing you do when a pop-up asks, “Do you accept cookies?”—immediately click “Accept” or hesitate as if pondering the secrets of the universe?
If you’re Gen Z, the answer might surprise you. While they’re often labelled as the oversharing Snapchat generation, they’re also becoming the poster children for digital privacy warriors. Want to know how? Stick around. By the end of this blog, you’ll not only uncover Gen Z’s surprising strategies for safeguarding their data but also pick up a few tips to reclaim control of your own.
Tumblr media
The Paradox of Gen Z: Masters of Oversharing, Yet Privacy-Conscious
On the surface, Gen Z seems like the generation that lives for Instagram reels, TikTok challenges, and viral tweets. But underneath the filters and hashtags lies a surprising truth: they care—deeply—about their digital footprints. They may post a dance video on TikTok but won’t hesitate to use pseudonyms on Facebook or create private Instagram accounts (finstas) to keep their personal lives personal.
Tumblr media
How Did Gen Z Get So Privacy-Savvy?
Growing Up With Data Breaches
From hearing about massive breaches (remember the infamous Cambridge Analytica scandal?) to watching documentaries like The Social Dilemma, Gen Z grew up knowing that even their memes could fuel someone’s data-mining empire. Lesson learned? Share strategically.
Tumblr media
Cybersecurity 101 Is Their Second Nature
For this generation, two-factor authentication isn’t optional—it’s a lifestyle. “123456” as a password? Please, that’s so 2010. Gen Z knows their passwords should look like they smashed their keyboard in frustration.
Tumblr media
Tech Education in Schools
Unlike older generations, who stumbled their way through the internet’s dark corners, Gen Z often received digital literacy education. They know the difference between a phishing scam and an actual email from their bank. (Pro tip: If it starts with “Dear Customer,” run.)
Tumblr media
Privacy Tips We Can All Steal (Ethically, of Course)
Gen Z is showing us the way, and here are some of their best practices:
Think Before You Link
Clicking on that shady “You’ve Won a Free iPhone!” ad is the digital equivalent of walking into a trap. Gen Z gets it—they avoid suspicious links like the plague.
Tumblr media
Limit Permissions
Why should a weather app need access to your contacts? Gen Z regularly audits app permissions, keeping unnecessary snoopers at bay.
Tumblr media
Use Burners for Fun
They know that creating a “throwaway” email address for subscriptions keeps spam out of their primary inbox.
Tumblr media
The Ironic Humor of Gen Z’s Privacy Stance
Isn’t it ironic that the generation branded as addicted to screens is leading the charge for digital privacy? They’ll meme about data breaches but won’t let companies snoop on their Spotify playlists.
Tumblr media
Conclusion: A Balancing Act
Gen Z proves you can live your best digital life and protect your data. Whether it’s using VPNs, switching to encrypted messaging apps, or simply saying no to invasive permissions, they’re rewriting the rules for online privacy.
