"you can't just pull that out without telling me!"
I didn't know you could do that || Accepting!
Vithren rolled their eyes. The two thugs who thought they’d gotten lucky and scored a double mugging were currently halfway down the alley in a soggy heap. The source of the blast of water? Vithren manipulating the water in the fire hydrant behind them and Margaret. Another motion of their hand had shut the water off again, which was where the woman’s comment had come in.

“If I’d told you, they would have known about it,” they said, folding their arms. “You could always say “thank you for saving me the trouble of an unexpected fight, Tidekeeper, that was nice of you”.”

2. Do you plan each chapter ahead or write as you go?
Hmm.... Little of both, really? Like with Bailey's stories, I have a rough idea of where I want the story to go, and most of a notion about how to knit the story that bridges the scenes I want. I don't know how many chapters it will take, but I know the basic story beats I want to hit. With Tidekeepers -- which I am hoping to start reboot work for within the next few months, cross your fingers -- it was all much more freeform. I had three big arcs conceptualized, and was going to let the story happen as it happened, within that framework.
I guess the easiest metaphor is training vines to grow up a trellis. I don't know how the flowers will branch and tangle over the wood, but I can coax them up a frame, and weave unexpected bits back into the larger mass

Fate, Soul, Space from the ask game!
18. FATE - Have you always wanted to be a writer?
I don't think so, but to be fair I don't remember much of all the things I wanted to be while I was growing up lol I've wanted to do many many things. Main theme is I've always wanted to tell and share stories -- went through 2D animation, comics, illustration and writing interchangeably until I settled back on writing in a more final way. :D
42. SOUL - What is your favourite WIP?
Going for the hardest questions here are ya LOL ummm i mean i'm partial to my original novel, but i have this visual novel about gays and vampires in a canadian college town im pretty obsessed with rn hehe so it's either, by title, Song of the Tidekeeper(fantasy new adult novel), or Vampire Beach Club(just...gay vampires and college shenanigans). Trying very hard to keep this answer short but all i want is to babble about my characters lol
43. SPACE - Do you prefer Sci-Fi or Fantasy?
i've always had a better understanding of fantasy when i write. it's more fun to me to imagine different rules and different ways to do magic. but i've also dabbled in scifi and similar things(like superhero stuff)for fun! i'm more comfortable in fantasy, but i always like to try new things and i mix it up once in a while. sci fi often involves maths and i don't like that but somehow i end up needing to do math research in my fantasy work anyway hahaha
thank you so much for the questions!! :D

My 2022 art summary post, + my art summaries from the last five years, since I don’t think I’ve shared these on tumblr before.   Surprised how much art I actually made in 2022 - I'd thought this year was a bit of a creative drought for me, but there is a Lot of stuff in my files.
2022′s template is by necromoss and 2018 was created by me.  Unfortunately I’ve long since forgotten the credits on the other ones.
Featured artworks (2022):
Jan: Abyssal tidekeeper
Feb: Island of Fire
Mar: Memory's Watch
Apr: Sketches for a commission (Havoc)
May: The Tower

Aug: Pew Pew
Sep: Character design sketches (Bellamy)
Oct: Character design sketch (Dmitri)

I’m an admin for an arpg on deviant art/discord called Realm of Serpents and this is some asset art for it! I’ve been doing a lot lately and having a ton of fun
This is a sea serpent, a non-playable creature from our bestiary.
Sea Serpent: Massive, snake-like creatures with immense ivory tusks and webbed fins. While normally only a danger to human ships, the larger sea-serpents (referred to as Great Serpents by Tidekeepers) may even threaten dragons. Tidekeepers hunt them for their tusks; despite this, their population only seems to grow, as each serpent can spawn hundreds of eggs at a time. (Description by J-Haskell on deviantart/hirundine on tumblr)
[Image ID: an illustration of a sea serpent coiled over itself a few times. It is snake-like, with no limbs and covered in small, slightly shiny scales. It has webbed fins running along its spine from the back of its head to just beyond the tip of its tail, which also line the underside of just the tail. Its mouth is half-open, showing off a row of sharp curved teeth at the back of its jaw, and several much larger forward-pointing teeth sticking out of the front of its mouth. The bottom middle two are more like tusks, being much larger than the rest. The sea serpent is mostly dark blue and green, with a white belly. Its white belly is bordered by bright red, which fans out in little stripes off of the main stripe. The serpents back is covered in dull gold marking that match its eye color. These markings are squiggles that twist around each other and form strange patterns that almost look like writing. End ID]

The ARPG is called Realm of Serpents, and it's run by J-Haskell (their tumblr is hirundine). The character here's name is Etzli Makkoia (iirc), and they're not Finnish, they're Padwellan, a fantasy counterpart culture that has some Finnish aspects. Padwell is divided into two culutrally distinct regions, the lowland swamps and High Heart, a mountainous region which has it's own government and distinct culture, though the two nations are closely tied and act together on the global stage. Lowland Padwell (Where Etzli is from) is a unique mix of cultural traits, mostly from South America and Mesoamerica, while High Heart has a lot of Andean influences, but also a lot of Finnish ones, particularly in the language (place-names such as Sähkötuuli and Laulaalunta, cultural terms like the names of the Perhe and the Vuorikuningatar Nousu, person-names which are usually related to weather, mountains, or birds, etc). Some characters from High Heart include Kieunta "Zoom" Varislalu, Starling Rupikonna, and Rey Ukonilma (Biracial, Xocrian-High Heart). As a culture, High Heart's big claim to fame is that they're the only people to successfully domesticate griffons (including a breed that is only to be found in captivity with them, the Vaudikas griffon) - everyone else has got to raise theirs from the eggs or tame as adults, which is notoriously difficult.
Padwell - Realm of Serpents (weebly.com) Here's a link to their lore pages (also includes links to Lowland Padwell's pages and to the rest of the site- based on your interests, I'd advise checking out the Shipwrecker and Tidekeeper dragons, as well as some of the seagoing critters in the Bestiary!)
Glad to pique your interest!

tidekeeper replied to your post: you cant jus say 'THIS IS BULLSHIT FEARMONGERING...
ngl I was one of the people who panic-reblogged when that article was first circulating, but I should’ve done research first; there’s some unfortunate things to the article, sure, but nowhere near the DOOMSDAY SCENARIO that was originally touted, thankfully
I think everyone does that sometimes. I do it sometimes too, but we all have to make an effort to stop and think for a moment when somebody puts up a complete doomsday scenario like this and ideally correct ourselves if we initially misunderstood something.
And when I say “RAAHH THIS MAKES ME ANGRY” I don’t mean I hate every person who has ever reblogged that post, I mean that it makes me angry that it is allowed to spread misinformation and panic to several thousand people without anyone questioning it right away, because the op clearly hasn’t researched the topic enough to even understand basic copyright law or that basic copyright law is not what will possibly be changed with this article.

Thank you!! It needs a title, but it's sitting in the WIP pile alongside Tidekeepers, Starlight Knights, and Hat Tricks. Hopefully one day I'll be able to get all of them out of my brain and where other people can see them
I would LOVE to hear about your Nuku Nuku inspired OCs if you're willing!
Oh gosh!! Okay, so they're more than a decade old, and I've forgotten most of what I had for them. I honestly remember as much about them as I do Nuku Nuku.
...Please keep in mind that I wrote these girls up in middle school
But they were a pair of genetically engineered catgirls who were the result of a scientist's project to create the perfect bride. He wanted someone who could be both a badass tough-as-nails fighter, and a hyper feminine doll. The only two that lived long enough to develop their own personalities hit the extreme ends of this. But by that time, the scientist was found out and the project shut down. The girls were taken in by this shady government organization, and... I don't remember the next part. But they were going to join a cast of characters in a webcomic that my highly ambitious 12yo self never got off the ground
The violent badass one (I do not remember either of their names) declared herself the older twin, and was very protective of her "younger" sister. She was short-tempered and standoffish, while the younger one was a sweetheart and very friendly. The younger one was also kind of a ditz and... Honestly, I'd have such a different approach to them now. Far less bitterness and internalized bull.
There's a bit of them in one of my mahou projects, actually, about a group of feline-humanoid aliens, who crash on Earth and have to become pop idols in order to get enough positive emotional energy to restore their ship and find a way home. The protagonists are twin princesses, Stella and Dawn, and I don't have much more yet. They fled their home planet after a coup, and the enemy ship that was chasing them conveniently also crashes on Earth. That crew also has to become a magical idol group, Because Reasons, and it turns into a rivalry
