watching bizly joke about tidalwave is so funny because i think this man is not Aware enough that. every single relationship and romance on this podcast has started off as a bit and has snowballed into reality. he's going to trick himself into making it canon. he's going to make some joke about it and accidentally imply something and it's going to trigger a domino effect. this happens all the time.

Personally I love ship names and duo names that aren't just names mashed together. For example like,, GhostKnife, TidalWave or Angelstone (jrwi fandom are amazing at ship names <3) BUTTT the utter comedy of weirdly thrown together mashed names is gold too...

Tangoman will always be famous to me... though Top and Bottom is a close contender for Tango & Skizz, purely because ya can't pass up a bit of Tango Top action <3

hey heres a fun plot thing that I can't remember if we made a decision on: were the wards present for the overlord fight, or did ashe run away and do that on his own (terrifying scenario)? I've been picking away at the tidalwave fic again and I realized I have been picturing him there. by himself. aauagh

BUT. i think we were also bouncing the idea around of the wards being there & helping him + seeing ashe breaker state trigger for the first time & kill overlord badly into like, a red smear on the walls + after ashe comes down his horror & shame & fear that they are going to never want to see him again & hate him after seeing him do that he runs + that's when the trickster Gets Him........ hey whats up. are you okay you're covered in blood and crying and shaking. it's like, 5am. can i help? can i call your parents? i haaaaave so many emotions about nhw tide the more i think about him.

i am still so MASSIVELY undecided on the whole clone thing but i do feel so strongly about the endbringer thing i brought up one time. i dont remember the way they are in canon but i have a lot of thoughts about tide and his siblings and their "ages" (magma is the oldest, tide is VERY close second (theyre not twins, but theyre probably only a year or less apart so they are The Oldest as a unit to the others. magma still plays the "im older than you" card to tide though). whirlwind and seismic ARE twins and they have such middle child energy. shockwave is the youngest until elle and has a complex about not being the youngest anymore. elle is the beloved baby girl. trust me i have experience in this this is basically the way my dads side of the family is) . anyway im getting distracted. anyway. tide and magma being the oldest and also being given powers specifically to counter leviathan and behemoth. i have emotions about this !!!! (i actually still dont really know whether behemoth is specifically fire coded but he does sleep in volcanoes so let me dream until worm proves me wrong). so like. even if theyre not clones they still get the whole "i was created for a purpose and i feel like i have the weight of the world on my shoulders because of it and its my only purpose and without it im lost and i dont know what to do with myself"

anyway. thinking about. tidalwave first meeting or like. early stages of meeting or whatever. tide is fucking INTIMIDATING. hes REALLY powerful, and also including that thing i put in my one liveblog the other day about Sere- if tide Wasnt A Hero it could be a goddamn disaster because his powers have the potential to be so fucking scary and bad and dangerous. luckily he is also the worlds biggest softie. tide is marginally less emotionally repressed than mark is, so he's more willing to initiate things.

i constantly think about tide in the context of that one post thats like "i hate when people say it costs nothing to be kind. it costs so much. i mean i'll pay it but damn" (im so mad i cant find that rn but. nhw tide thesis statement) hes not naive!!!!!!!! he knows how awful and shitty the world and the whole cape system is. but hes trying so so so hard to do the right thing and help people. that fucking gets on marks nerves so bad. tide is Too Nice and he hates it. "why cant you be more of an asshole so its easier for me to hate you" etc etc etc.

ANYWAY. early tidalwave. tide looks at wavelength and immediately sees a difference between him and some of the other villains hes fought. theres this almost feral desperation to him. outwardly hes cold and calculating and brutal but like. just a little bit beneath the surface he is. like a cornered animal. he doesnt Want to be doing this, but he Has To. and tide can. really sympathize with that and understand that i think. Mark Also Hates This, He Does Not Like To Be Perceived. i imagine theres a lot of back and forth like "i understand" "how could you possibly understand"

they become sort of like unofficial rivals- tide knows how the hero system works and how fucking nasty things could end up for mark if he fights someone who doesnt care about what happens to a villain, so its always tide seeking him out (fight to maim, not kill. sorry that sentence lives in my mind forever now). tide maybe lets him slip away and escape way easier than he should. because he Gets It. he genuinely does want to help mark, not in an "i can fix him" way, but in more of an "i can see youre in a horrible situation and i dont want to kill you just because of that, so im helping in the small way i can without making things worse for you" way. mark knows hes doing this. they never talk about it. they talk more than people who are supposed to be intent on killing each other should talk. neither of them will ever say it out loud but. the human connection outside of their respective Situations is kind of nice. regardless of how fucked up the whole thing is. ill-advised hookups, unmasking, etc etc all of that. but They Dont Talk About It Ever. next day theyre back to trying to kill each other like nothing happened. tide maybe privately mourns this, but still never says anything about it. tide visits mark in the hospital because no one else will. tide tells mark about ashe because no one else will, even if he knows that will basically shatter everything between them (its not tides fault, why would it be, but mark is a very "shoot the messenger, ask questions later" kind of guy)

So I was thinking, would genshin ever make a duo element character? Because we know there are elemental creatures like wind whips and Oceanid and probably others we're unaware of, but what if, for example, an Oceanid got a vision and it wasn't by chance hydro.

The only way I think they could make this work is by having it function some how similar to Childes ranged vs melee playstyle.

Like, either the skill or burst switches your element for a certain duration, and perhaps fighting style? Like imagine an Oceanid sword user with a pyro vision. Their default is a hydro sword since that's their natural affinity. But when you use skill or burst, it switches them to their pyro kit for say 30 seconds (ideally the duration doesn't end if you swap out to someone else) Feel like this would prevent a broken self vaporise character, since the elemental application from the first element would get used up pretty quickly.

Example

Tidalwave: tap elemental skill deals aoe hydro damage. Hold E to switch to the Earthshaker state. While in the Earthshaker state, the characters elemental and burst will deal pyro damage. Duration: 30s

And I thought of this too

Ascension 4 passive: While in the Earthshaker state, energy regeneration is increased based on the characters max hp (because hydro default)

That, or their normal attack is one element and their skill/burst is another by default, but I feel like that's a bit too wonky for a functional kit. Also the reason we can't, and probably shouldn't be able to, mix and match the travelers elemental skill and burst. Kinda feels like it has to be two modes like childe

Honestly, this could be really cool, but also feels like it'd be hard to pull off well. (Also artifacts would be an absolute pain to figure out. You wouldn't want to use an elemental dmg goblet unless you're focusing really specifically one one element.)

Or, you know. It could be like the traveler where they can only use one element at a time with no access to the other unless you switch them. But that's boring.

Okay, now I actually kinda want to design a dual-element kit.

So, Onto terms of actual Comic Hobie fluff. I actually have a couple things for this, surprisingly it might be after that analysis. (HEHEeh) Because brain is hyperfixating on both Hobie and Moxie, I'm throwing them both in here interchangeably.

-Someone had the headcanon that hobie would make guitar picks out of everything and anything, and I loved that. I also heard that when you go to band-practice, you pick up like fucking everyone's picks from your guitar case. I love both these Ideas, you know what I absolutely love even more, though is the thought of him specifically making pics because of the idea of someone comforting and then using those comfort pics interchangeably through a set.

-Hobie actually has several very healthy coping mechanisms. First you ever see him is his ready willingness to ask for help, his comfort blanket (I'm refering to spider-man because that's what it is to him, an emotional crutch, armor for his soft bits during spider-punk) I feel like you can very easily get him started on a work life balance simply by giving him another one separate from his work. Imagine hobie walking around in a knitted sweater, and that's what makes him feel safe. In my head, I had actually imagined it'd be bright pink because it wasn't his. In my head, after Hobie goes back to his own world Moxie and Hobie would've made such an impact on each others lives that even if they don't speak about each other (Because private moments, not romantic but emotionally intimate.) they visibly are changed after meeting each other. Moxie learns to be themselves expressively without fear, or regret just like Hobie, and Hobie learns how to carve time out of his day for soft, kind moments just for himself. To try and find beauty in a rainy day.

-It actually came with a thought that after Hobie had gone home, he realized one of the bags Moxie threw at him for him to take his shit with him actually had other things in it, and one of them was a change of warmer, softer clothes for when it gets colder. Cue actual literal 3 foot avalanche of shit when he decides to throw the bag off to the side without closing the lid. Imagine an entire tidalwave of fucking highlighters, markers both permanent and washable, sticky-notes of literally fucking every single goddamn color, an entire boombox with a box of cassettes, yarn balls falling out of it, a set of knitting needles, empty notebooks falling out of it, a goddamn earth-shattering amount of fucking guitar picks and paintbrushes, an entire collection of knitted sweaters and scarves and cardigans. The instant fucking regret he feels when he realizes he has to clean that shit. On the positive side, he will literally never need to make a pick ever in his entire life, and he'll never be cold. So...

-Moxie has a shit ton of muses, but the catcher with them is that they don't paint people or objects. Moxie has a specific self-made qualification, they paint emotion and experience. Most of time when they meet people, they ask them to sit down with them and explain to them what it felt like to experience something. They paint a visual representation of what they gathered from that person. Hobie would be one of their muses because they'e spent time around people long enough to know the fear and anger rule. (anger is secondary to fear) They paint alot of rose bushes on the sea side when they think of Hobie, pretty and red and very prickly with a vastly underestimated depth. Very much not meant to be touched, but cared for from a shorter distance before you step further into a world unknown. It's the emotion and vulnerability that makes him "pretty" to them.

-Hobie, I think would knit to get out frustration into a repeated, simple and tedious task.

-He's a younger runaway, having decided the streets were better. He still doesn't talk to his family or even know what's happened to them since he's been gone.

-Moxie keeps paintings that remind them of people around their space. They have one of the first assault they ever witnessed. (the police brutality that spurred them down the vigilantee route) It's covered, but it hangs above their work bench. Can't take it down because it's too important, can't look at it without feeling angry and afraid.

-Hobie in the comics isn't as touchy as movie hobie, he only ever reached for someone in a way that wasn't kicking their ass when he met gwen stacy (who he fanboyed over like hell because gwen stacy in his universe was a rockstar who died epicly) and when gwen stacy returned during spider-verse in a very "I lived bitch" way after thought dead. (ran straight for the hug) He doesn't mind when someone else puts their arms around him, though. Possibly incredibly touch-based person when he's being vulnerable in a way that isn't crying his eyes out.

Ok so context, I [25?M] am a clone and I was made a bit more than half a year ago, so I'm pretty new at this whole life thing.

My first mission was tailing this guy [24M], he was suspected of making illegal weapons and selling them to villains and vigilantes. Long story short, I tried to do my job, ended up stalking him, befriending him and yeah for transparency's sake, I did sleep with him. I genuinely do care about him, that bit's not a lie, I tried to put his arrest away as much as I could but I really couldn't do much, and tbh I kinda thought it might be good for him ? He's an heavy drug addict (torpor, if you know anything about it, please contact me, there's pretty much no info online, promise I won't sell you out) and homeless. I thought he'd be forced to go sober if he got arrested, and that it'd be better for him in the long run ? He ended up having an heart attack (and then some weird shit happened but I think that's a whole other can of worm), so yeah that's my bad. He kept telling me that's what would happen too, I should have listened. You know, the more I'm typing this out the clearer it is to me that I am in fact the asshole. Welp.

Anyways, I made sure he was okay after that, I got the best lawyers I could, he only got five years (for weapons trafficking and drug possession charges, thats pretty good). I'm planning on getting him an apartment as soon as he gets out, but I don't know if he'll accept, I sent him a few letters apologizing and they were all sent back without being opened (it says 'Refused by Incarcerated Individual – Return to Sender' so yeah I know it's not the jail refusing them to go through). I guess my question is more 'Would I be more the asshole if I left him alone after his release or if I got back in contact even though I know he probably won't want me too ?' Sorry this situation is so complicated ahah.

if you're trying to get into the head of your story's antagonist, try writing an "Am I the Asshole" reddit post from their perspective, explaining their problems and their plans for solving them. Let the voice and logic come through.

the jrwi fandom is the only place I like the majority of the duo/ship names because they're cool and fun and make sense

Like the PD crew each having an assigned word (Dakota - kicks/William - ghost/Vyncent - knife/Ashe - demon) so when you want to talk about a specific duo you just mash their words together (like ghostknife or demonkicks)

Or in riptide some of them are fun and made by the characters themselves (fish and chips)

But overall each campaign has very creatively made duo/ship names by the fanbase (pistolwhip, navyseal, fightingchance, swordfish, angelstone, tidalwave, keeperschampion)

These are all very fun, creative and descriptive names that give me a decent chance at guessing at which characters are being discussed if I happen to not be familiar with it! They're not just a single word with -duo tagged on the end that gives me zero idea of who's being talked about unless it's made obvious in the post or I caught whatever miniscule bit that happened one time that the word is referring to!!!
