a thunderstorm woke me up and now my veins are running on pure caffeine and (unfortunately) i have jamil on the mind.

so now i'm thinking about what if yuu has an extreme fear of thunder

imagine there's a thunderstorm in the middle of the night.

you've just been weirdly anxious, and when jamil inquired, you begrudgingly admit that you're afraid of thunder.

it's embarrassing. why would you be scared of thunder, they're just loud sounds. it’ll pass.

jamil had to stop himself from making a judgmental remark. even if jokingly.

he’s deathly afraid of bugs, he literally has no place to make fun of you for it.

at least with bugs you can get rid of them, but you can’t just fight the weather unless you’re a powerful mage.

so the least jamil can do is to comfort you.

maybe listening to music sharing headphones.

or make you focus on his voice instead so you don’t pay attention to the loud noises. either by chatting or reading a book together.

of course, maybe he could also use snake whisper on you so your mind would effortlessly cease those fears.

jamil would if you asked. but he’s not going to offer it himself.

(besides, it’s a bit weird if he’s using his unique magic on you again, considering whatever your relationship is at this point.)

and it’s not like that idea would even cross your mind when all you could think about was the agonizing dread of oncoming thunder.

plus it kinda sounds crazy knowingly asking someone to put you under mind control.

every time thunder boomed you found yourself clinging to jamil's clothes. burying your face in his chest. as if you were holding onto him for dear life.

he'd laugh if he knew you weren't deathly afraid of it. so he'd make soothing gestures instead.

the thunder was still unbearable, but eventually you found comfort in jamil’s warmth.

it really helped to drown it out. at least mostly.

this seemed to be a better outcome anyway than forcing you to just forget about it.

and it would’ve been easier, sure. but how many times could you get the chance to cozy up to jamil

and on the other hand, jamil kinda wanted this moment to last. how many times could he have an excuse for "relaxing" with you.

as much as it makes you suffer, him wanting this moment to last longer meant wishing for the thunderstorm to last longer as well.

jamil hopes you can forgive him for being selfish in that regard.

one of my fav things about iwtv is how the script is constructed so that characters are sometimes having two completely different conversations at once, and how they'll sometimes overlap each other with what they're saying because the characters are more interested in saying what they have to say than they are in it being heard/in listening to the other character

COOL LEGENDS BB!CATS HAVE ABOUT THE DAWN ERA:

Generally, stories from this time are heavily mythologized. It is the era of legends and high fantasy, with its founders being remembered as abstractions more than real cats.

So ideally I'd love to tell arcs where every appearance of the founders in StarClan is like seeing angels. Monstrous, powerful beings that are more elemental than feline. Then, suddenly, you get to go back and see them before their appearances were twisted by generations of fantasy.

The Red Squirrels and the Gray Squirrels (Pishkaf om Chakchak) A ThunderClan myth, especially popular after the exile of SkyClan. The story goes that the wretched gray squirrels once decided to persecute the humble red squirrels. So the red squirrels appealed to Thunderstar to save them, but Skystar decreed that might makes right, and refused to manage the gray squirrels in his territory. It's treated as a kitten story, a parable about the importance of managing one's territory and defending things with low threat level.

Bumble Mumble and the Rogue of Rot The Clan cat version of a tower of babel story. It's the story of an unnamed rogue who steals the kittens of Turtle Heart and Bumble Mumble, killing Turtle Heart in the process. In response, Bumble lets out a mournful wail that strips the Rogue's words away and scrambles language forever.

Sun Shadow Steals the Sun The story of One Eye's defeat, slowly morphed into a cute tale about why you can't stare at the sun. The legend goes that One Eye was unbeatable, wearing a pelt that could not be scratched, even as all the founders united to defeat him. Sun Shadow realized that the only thing that could defeat him was the power within him, and so he challenged him to "show all of his might." Through this, his flesh was burned, but he gained a power above all. He guards this now as the sun itself, but would have to give it up to the next person who defeats him in a staring contest. So don't look!

Snake Claw's Serpents Newest one I'm still working on; but once upon a time, in his hatred of serpents, Snake Claw slew all of them from the deadliest adder down to the most defenseless slowworm. But without snakes to fear coming into their burrows, all the prey hid there, and all the cats of the Clans went hungry. He begged StarClan to return the serpents, and they agreed-- but he would need to craft them again, from memory. He spun his hate into love, but each one still came out endearingly wonky. It's why a grass snake has no venom, a slowworm's tail can fall off, and some adders are green. And most importantly, it is why "Snakes" (serpent in Clanmew, "Sis") have scales despite being "Worms." He forgor.

That last one's still changing though, I think it's very cute but I also want to make sure to put Snake as a character rework before the fun legend I want him to have, lmao.

I JUST HAD AN AWFUL IDEA [For Victim]- Untitled is steadily learning Victim's attack patterns and strategy and every loop Victim is increasingly frustrated because it's slowly getting harder to kill him. Untitled is slowly getting faster and better than Victim and it's driving them Insane.

MAN..... yeah...... and untitled probably is trying not to hurt victim as well which only makes it MORE infuriating, because he won't fight back, he refuses to die, what is the fucking POINT?

Oh look it’s another post about power rangers

So, Ninja storm. Love it. It’s great, even if it’s not the grand all end all power rangers series (that honor goes to RPM) and it has placed itself in a very fond spot in my heart.

Anyways, the main trio, right? Dustin, Tori, and Shane have the elemental powers of earth, water, and air respectively, but something I like about the show is that, similar to a post I saw about ATLA, is that they don’t act like their elements.

Dustin is earth, but he’s a bit “airheaded” (read: undiagnosed Adhd) and goes with the flow, rolls with the punches, is an overall chill dude who I relate to on a personal, physical, and spiritual level.

Tori is water but I would argue is both the most grounded and levelheaded member while also being hotheaded (I know there’s technically not a fire elemental in the show, but Shane’s red is throwing me off so shush). She’s actually the one I would say is most set in her ways while keeping an air of understanding and compassion. She’s an interesting character to dissect is what I’m saying.

And Shane is air while also being stubborn and almost unmovable in his opinions or his instincts while also being carefree in a way that takes away some of that “I’m the boss you must always listen to me” kind of leader.

And while there personalities are both a) more complicated than just whatever relation we make with different elements and b) are very limited based on screen time and how the writers decided was most important to show for them, I still think that there is a lot of potential with having your characters acting outside of stereotypes linked with their powers.

It’s nice to think about. I like it a lot.

I don't even know how to summarize what's going on here because this series is a pastiche on a pastiche of a pastiche: a Warren Ellis revival of Alan Moore's SUPREME — an extended pastiche of/homage to the Silver Age Superman, and Silver Age DC more broadly, based on Rob Liefeld's '90s Superman pastiche/parody — framed as a pastiche of William Gibson's Blue Ant trilogy (PATTERN RECOGNITION, SPOOK COUNTRY, and ZERO HISTORY), and featuring some of the most jaw-dropping artwork I've seen in a modern comic book. It will probably not make any sense at all if you're not familiar with the things I've just named, but if you are, it is unaccountably, exceptionally good.
