UPDATE:
A judge ruled that Georgia law allows Saturday voting before the runoff for U.S. Senate, finding that polling places can open even though they follow state holidays on Thanksgiving and the day afterward that years ago honored Robert E. Lee’s birthday.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Thomas Cox decided Friday that state law permits counties to offer voting Nov. 26, finding in favor of Democratic U.S. Sen. Raphael Warnock’s campaign in a lawsuit.
County governments may now choose to offer residents an opportunity to vote on that Saturday in addition to five mandatory weekdays of voting the following week.
The judge’s order reversed Republican Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s interpretation that state law barred Saturday voting before the Dec. 6 runoff between Warnock and Republican Herschel Walker.
The plaintiffs argued in court Friday that the law barring Saturday voting after holidays only applies to regularly scheduled elections — not Georgia’s quick runoff election that leaves limited early voting opportunities.
“Eliminating that day of weekend voting reduces voting opportunities,” said Uzoma Nkwonta, an attorney for the Warnock campaign, the Democratic Party of Georgia and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. “The court does not need to find that voting opportunities have been eliminated entirely to demonstrate that there’s been an impairment or infringement or burden on the right to vote.”
Cox had questioned why local election offices couldn’t offer Saturday voting after a holiday as they did in the last U.S. Senate runoffs two years ago.
At the time, early voting was allowed Saturday, Dec. 26, 2020, the day after Christmas when over 15,600 voters in three counties cast their ballots on
“I work during the week, and on the weekend you have more time. There are other Georgians who may only have limited time off, and that may be Saturday. What do you say to that?” Cox asked an attorney for the state.
Charlene McGowan, an assistant attorney general representing the state, responded that Sunday voting is available in counties that choose to offer it, giving voters flexibility on a weekend.
“There are many options available to voters so that no one’s right to vote is being denied here,” McGowan said. “It may be more convenient for some voters to offer a Saturday voting day, but again, that is not the issue before the court.”
An attorney for the plaintiffs said the Georgia General Assembly in 2017 specifically removed the word “runoff” from a law preventing Saturday voting after a holiday, indicating that lawmakers intended for it to be permitted.
Initially, Raffensperger had said that early voting would be available on Saturday, Nov. 26, but his office later reversed course. A bulletin issued last weekend said state law prohibits Saturday voting on that day.
The limitation on Saturday voting after state holidays was passed in 2016, but it was never an issue in runoffs before this year.
Previously, runoffs were held nine weeks after the general election, but Georgia’s voting law passed last year moved runoffs to four weeks after the initial election, creating a scheduling conflict with holidays during Thanksgiving week.
The Republican-majority General Assembly shortened the runoff period after Democrats Warnock and Jon Ossoff won their elections to the Senate, giving their party control of the chamber.
With less time before runoffs, there are also fewer days of early voting available.
Before general and primary elections, 17 days of early voting are required. Before runoffs, five days are mandated.
State law requires early voting to end the Friday before election day, which prevents voting on the Saturday immediately before the election as well as the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
For decades until late 2015, Georgia had a state holiday on the day after Thanksgiving memorializing Robert E. Lee, the Confederate general during the Civil War.
Gov. Nathan Deal changed the day’s name to a more neutral title, “State Holiday,” which is still observed on the same day of the calendar.
You can read the judge's order in full here.

Guilty
[Pairings]: Tara Carpenter x Fem!Reader
[Summary]: The some-what peaceful summer break of you and your friends is over when you're arrested for a murder, you didn't commit.
[Warnings]: talks about murder, my writing, not proof read
--------------------------------------------------------
2023 July 26th, 4:23 pm
“Your honor, I can confidently state that my client is innocent”
Your lawyer speaks seriously, standing up and looking the Judge in the eye.Your leg shakes as you fidget with the rings on your fingers anxiously.
“She is a cold-blooded killer! She murdered 3 people!” The lawyer of a family member from one of the victims’ families says almost aggressively, standing up too.
“Okay. If you could please sit down, Attorney Lee.” The Judge speaks calmly, looking at the lawyer. She sits down and the Judge turns back to your lawyer “please, continue”
And while your lawyer speaks to the Judge, trying to prove your innocence, Tara Carpenter, you dear beloved, is also anxiously waiting for what’s next, her heart racing and her blood rushing through her veins as a few drops of sweat litter her forehead in the hot July afternoon. Beside her is her sister, Sam, her leg bouncing as she bites her fingernail while her gaze is focused entirely on the Judge and your lawyer. Their friends, Mindy and Chad are also there, leaned forward in their seats, worried eyes burning holes into the back of your head.
—---------
2023 June 4th, 3:45 pm
You are sitting on the couch in the Carpenter apartment, watching a movie while Tara and Mindy are trying to cook something, Sam is shouting at them for almost burning the kitchen down and Chad is sitting beside you, the loud sounds of shots fired in the game he's playing adding to the chaos.
Groaning when your head starts to hurt from both the loud noise and the heat in the apartment. So you pick up a magazine from the coffee table and start fanning yourself, sighing when your body is no longer on fire.
Soon, you hear a small scoff from the kitchen then loud steps approaching the couch and in a moment, Tara is seated on the other side of your body.
“Hey, Tar. What’s up?”
She groans and leans her head on your shoulder, which causes you to scrunch your face up as her sweaty forehead touches your bare shoulder, but you don’T say anything. “Sam’s annoying as always.”
You chuckle and nod. “What are you watching?” She asks, her eyes on the TV screen, tying to figure out what’s playing.
Your eyes widen and you turn to her “Are you serious? “She nods, her eyebrows furrowed in confusion “The Expendables, of course. How do you not know that?” You say, rolling your eyes, before mumbling “Or at least trying to” You side eye Chad who’s too invested in his phone to notice it.
“I’m sorry, the what now?” Tara sits up, looking at you.
“See, this is why you need to watch movies from other genres, not just horror!”
Tara laughs sarcastically while you scoff and look back at the screen. Your little bickering is however interrupted by loud banging on the front door of the apartment.
Suddenly, everything is quiet and Sam slowly heads to the door, opening it only to be pushed aside roughly by a large man in a police uniform. Everyone stands up in confusion as two other men barge inside. As soon as the first one makes eye contact with you, he shouts and points at you, making the other too run towards you as you’re frozen in place and grab you, cuffing you. There is a loud ringing in your ears that muffle Tara’s confused screams as Sam holds her back. The first man steps in front of you, an emotionless expression on his face as he speaks.
“Y/N L/N, you are under arrest for the murder of Adam Cooper, Lucas Murphy and 11 year old child Thomas Jones”
—-------
2023 July 26th 5:12
You zoned out for almost an hour while the Judge spoke to both of the lawyers and the jury. It’s when you hear the sound of the Judge’s hammer hitting the table that you pick up your head and the judge speaks.
“The judgment is final. Y/N L/N has been proven guilty and will serve time in Folsom State Prison….for life”
Your eyes fill with tears and your breathing is unsteady as you stand up when guards approach you, cuffing you and dragging you slowly out of the courtroom. Your lawyer puts his head in his hands and sits back down, Sam, Mindy and Chad stand up and start protesting. Tara already has tears streaming down her cheeks as she starts running towards you.
“NO!No! You can’t take her! She’s innocent!” She sobs while Sam rushes to her and holds her back.
And there’s that. On July 26th, 2023. Your life was officially changed. But a little bit, deep down, everyone in that room knew that the real killer was there, watching and sitting quietly with a barely noticeable smirk on his face.
As soon as you’re dragged out, he stands up, buttons his suit jacket -that he chose to wear even in the hot afternoon- and proudly walks out of the courtroom, noticed by no one, because the chaos has settled in.
A/N: again, it's very short but i'm getting back into it.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024/sep/17/samuel-alito-leonard-leo-gloria-von-thurn-und-taxis-napa-institute
Well then.
The supreme court justice Samuel Alito and a German aristocrat and “networker of the far right” from whom Alito accepted expensive concert tickets, are both linked to an ultra-conservative Catholic US group whose board members include the dark money impresario Leonard Leo and the founder of a hardline anti-abortion Christian group, documentation reviewed by the Guardian shows.
In 2018, Gloria von Thurn und Taxis, told the New York Times about attending a dinner hosted in Rome by James Harvey, an American cardinal and hardliner, and sponsored by the Napa Institute, a group founded by Timothy R Busch, a conservative Catholic businessman and political activist.
Leo, 59, is an activist and fundraiser who worked on the confirmations of all six rightwing justices who now dominate the supreme court, Alito among them. Now controlling billions of dollars in funding for rightwing groups, Leo is a director of the Napa Institute Legal Foundation, also known as Napa Legal Institute, and the Napa Institute Support Foundation.
Also among Napa Legal Institute directors is Alan Sears, founder of the Alliance Defending Freedom. The ADF was the principal driver of Dobbs v Jackson Women’s Health Organization, the case in which the supreme court ended the federal right to abortion, with Alito writing the ruling handed down in June 2022.
In 2017, the Napa Institute hosted a two-day symposium at the Trump hotel in Washington, during which Alito attended a dinner.
Writing for the Washington Post, John Gehring, an author and reporter, said the symposium “mixed traditional Catholic religious practices with moments that felt uncomfortably nationalistic”, including a “reading in the rosary booklet from [the Confederate general] Robert E Lee that [seemed] … stunningly insensitive at best … at a time when the ‘alt-right’ and white nationalism are basking in the glow of renewed attention and proximity to power”.
Alito is not the only supreme court justice with links to the Napa Institute. In September 2021, as part of a series sponsored by the group, Justice Clarence Thomas spoke at the University of Notre Dame.
“The court was thought to be the least dangerous branch and we may have become the most dangerous,” Thomas said, attacking judges he deemed to be “venturing into areas we should not have entered into” – meaning politics.
Thomas and Alito, however, have been the subject of numerous reports about undeclared gifts from rightwing donors, fueling an ethics crisis now stoked by news of Alito’s acceptance of concert tickets valued at $900 from von Thurn und Taxis.
Von Thurn und Taxis, 64, is a former punk turned billionaire, also known as Princess TNT, with close links to the far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party. News of her gift to Alito was accompanied by reporting of further links between the two, including a picture of Alito and another rightwing justice, Brett Kavanaugh, posing at the supreme court in 2019 with the German socialite; Cardinal Gerhard Ludwig Müller, a German hardliner; and Brian Brown, a prominent US anti-LGBTQ+ campaigner.
Von Thurn und Taxis told German media that Alito and his wife, Martha-Ann, attended a concert at her castle in Bavaria last year as “private friends”. In emails to the Guardian, the aristocrat clarified: “We never speak about politics nor religion at the table, because we believe it limits the possibility to make friends.”
The socialite, who rejects the label “networker of the far right”, also said it would “never occur” to her to speak about “touchy subjects” like abortion with someone she knew socially, and claimed not to know that “the Dobbs decision” referred to the supreme court abortion rights ruling written by Alito.
In a speech at the National Conservatism Conference in Brussels last April, von Thurn und Taxis said European leaders were “financ[ing] the killing of our offspring” in an apparent reference to the availability of reproductive rights in Europe. She added: “Does this make any sense? Is there some kind of racism? Are we not supposed to reproduce?”
Alito and his wife have also been outspoken about abortion and other hot-button cultural issues. In June, the progressive activist Lauren Windsor released recordings in which Justice Alito agreed that the US should “return … to a place of godliness” and said, “I don’t know that we can negotiate with the left”. Regarding her supposed persecution from those on the left, his wife said: “Look at me, look at me. I’m German. I’m from Germany. My heritage is German. You come after me, I’m gonna give it back to you.”
Caroline Ciccone, president of Accountable.US, which campaigns for court reform and which highlighted links between the German socialite, the Napa Institute and Alito, said: “When a supreme court justice like Samuel Alito pals around with influential rightwing figures like Princess Gloria von Thurn und Taxis and Leonard Leo, it raises concerns about fairness and impartiality.
“These relationships aren’t just about gifts. They reflect a deeper effort to manipulate our legal system in ways that could impact the rights of everyday people.”
Ciccone added, “What’s disturbing is that this happens behind closed doors – at parties at the Bavarian castle – away from public scrutiny. We’re talking about relationships that can affect everything, from reproductive rights to environmental protections” – both the subject of recent supreme court rulings widely seen as victories for the political right.
“The American people deserve a judiciary that serves justice impartially,” Ciccone said, “not one that can be bought.”

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE DIVINE 9 (Pt. 1) BLACK SECRET SOCIETIES BEFORE THE DIVINE 9
"Many filmmakers have tried to recreate the Black College Experience for the big screen, but few have done it successfully (with the exception of Spike Lee's "School Daze" (1988) and the 2002 hit "Drumline"). So this part of being Black is not widely understood or known. The Black college experience is a huge part of African-American culture, which was on full display during singer Beyoncé's historic and epic performance at the 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio, CA....From the marching band to the step show, and moments of pledging, Beyoncé's tribute showcasing Black university life is much appreciated. For anyone not in the know, a student can have that experience at an HBCU (Historically Black College and University) or also on any campus with Black Fraternities and Sororities..."
Hey @aeltri don't say I never feed you anything.
These paid buffoons have been dragging the Black community down into the dirt, by acting as voices of truth, and all just to help provide more cover and distraction for the NFL. I know they're not the only ones, but they also gave free promo to Tyler Perry by pretending....PRETENDING to go after him. But, really, what is just a bunch of bought off talking heads going to accomplish against a man who is still getting one deal after another for his toxic films, while sitting in his billion dollar mansion, on a hill. Not much!
And during all of this, repeatedly exposing the public and very likely, children to graphic, violent porn. I say, we are truly living in post racial world when THIS MANY Black and POC, like #Valderrama are willing to do so much to uphold a sick system run by sick men, that ultimately hurts their own communities. The NFL and Silicon Valley are in league, have been and that explains why so many football blogs on Twitter are constantly involved in Hate Spamming and general attacks, including the ones against Disney for years. Because Sports Betting uses AI.
The Entertainment Industry stopped hiring real actors, real comedians and real musicians. Instead, they hire Propagandists, now.

Sanders Sides Theory
This theory is about "What makes the perfect gift".
Mostly at the end, with Thomas and Nico hanging out (date)/the message that Thomas wanted to say to Nico. (I know that it is May, don't judge me!)
Thomas was planning to ask Nico to be his boyfriend.
This got me thinking/this theory: what's their state of their relationship before the video?
Here's what I noticed:
In the 5 year anniversary video: Roman said that they should be at the millionth base with Nico. (Which is apparently "Space marriage officiated by Gandolf and Dumbledore")
Also In the 5 year anniversary video: Patton (who did look unsure, maybe still misses Thomas' ex or thought that they're not ready at the time yet) says "looking forward to getting to know him!" Meaning that Thomas and Nico just started to date/hang out, getting to know each other.
Also, by the look of What makes the perfect gift video, it's like a hang out/coffee date. It's something simple.
Those are the things that I noticed.
To me, Nico and Thomas would go out every once in a while and things are going smoothly!
In the Christmas video, Thomas wants to make the next big step in the relationship, which is boyfriends. That's what the message was with his gift(s) to Nico. (The question is probably on a page instead of the back of the front, just in case it was a no).
Now, you might be wondering how long they could have been in this hang out/date.
According to the timeline of Sander Sides, it's still 2019 and Thomas and Nico met a few days after the wedding of Mary Lee and Lee, which was in April.
So, Nico and Thomas have been hanging out/dating for about nine months before Thomas asked Nico to be his boyfriend.
If you think about it, it gives Thomas enough time to sort some things out with his sides and his mental health instead of rushing into a relationship so quickly, which is nice when you think about it.
That's all. That's my theory.
#sanders sides#sanders sides theory#pintroverts#karrot kings#nico flores#thomas sanders#I know this isnt what I normally post#but I had this theory since December and I wanted to share it#a big thanks to everyone who voted on the poll and everyone reading!!!

All named characters I straight up forgot to mention
---
A note: I have purposefully excluded the children but not the characters based on IRL people.
The children are excluded because as in real life, they are constantly changing and are more prone to feeling judged by society if we try to bog them down with answering a question with a straight answer versus letting them vibe however they are.
The characters based on IRL people were included because the people they were based on may be queer, we just don't know, we also wont assume. Also because once a character is created, they belong to the public and the public will assign any headcanons to them regardless of what was intended or what is true.
---
Further note: if the point of this post flew past you, its that anyone can be queer, there are no signs, someone may be in closet.
You never know who around is queer, even if they seem to scream "I am not queer" there's always a chance they are, whether they know it or not
And if you as a person, decide to spout off your hatred of anything queer, because you think, "there's no way someone near me is queer", I want you to think again
Because there are many flavors of being queer
And all you're doing by being hateful, is ensuring that when you need help, no one will be around and no one will want to be around

W A T C H I N G
I saw this as a kid on TV, it's the first time I felt myself start understand that the kids who weren't white in my school were treated different. Sometimes by whispers between white kids.
Strange way to learn a lesson about society.
My best friend was a VERY white passing biracial Puerto Rican. But his father was very dark. And the kids snickered and murmured the n-word when he came to pick him up. They told him often, "you must be adopted."
It was confusing for me because I didn't get it. He was just my friend's dad. Like my dad had a European accent, and I didn't.
I just remember I was about 8 or 9 and even teared up at the at the speech that James Earl Jones gives at the end. It really stuck with me for while. It effected me kind of deeply. That even thinking about that day, I'm choked up.
It was a goofy 80s comedy, but for a suburban white kid like me, the message hit me how it was meant to.
Professor Banks: You've learned something I can't teach them. You've learned what it feels like to be black.
Mark: No sir.
Professor Banks: Beg your pardon?
Mark: I don't really know what it feels like, sir. If I didn't like it, I could always get out. It's not the same, sir.
Professor Banks: You've learned a great deal more than I thought.

Legacy & input by actors from the movie:
———————
Rae Dawn Chong defended the film, saying of the controversy:
It was only controversial because Spike Lee made a thing of it. He'd never seen the movie and he just jumped all over it… He was just starting and pulling everything down in his wake. If you watch the movie, it's really making white people look stupid… [The film] is adorable and it didn't deserve it... I always tried to be an actor who was doing a part that was a character versus what I call 'blackting,' or playing my race, because I knew that I would fail because I was mixed [Chong is of African, Chinese and European ancestry]. I was the black actor for sure, but I didn't lead with my epidermis, and that offended people like Spike Lee, I think. You're either militant or you're not and he decided to just attack. I've never forgiven him for that because it really hurt me. I didn't realize [at the time] that not pushing the afro-centric agenda was going to bite me. When you start to do well people start to say you're a Tom [as in Uncle Tom] because you're acceptable.
Spike Lee responded by saying, "In my film career, any comment or criticism has never been based on jealousy."
"A white man donning blackface is taboo," said C. Thomas Howell. "Conversation over — you can't win. But our intentions were pure: We wanted to make a funny movie that had a message about racism."
Howell later expanded:
I'm shocked at how truly harmless that movie is, and how the anti-racial message involved in it is so prevalent... This isn't a movie about blackface. This isn't a movie that should be considered irresponsible on any level... It's very funny... It made me much more aware of the issues we face on a day-to-day basis, and it made me much more sensitive to racism... It's an innocent movie, it's got innocent messages, and it's got some very, very deep messages. And I think the people that haven't seen it that judge it are horribly wrong. I think that's more offensive than anything. Judging something you haven’t seen is the worst thing you can really do. In fact, Soul Man sort of represents that all the way through. I think it's a really innocent movie with a very powerful message, and it's an important part of my life. I'm proud of the performance, and I'm proud of the people that were in it. A lot of people ask me today, 'Could that movie be made today?'... Robert Downey Jr. just did it in Tropic Thunder!... The difference is that he was just playing a character in Tropic Thunder, and there was no magnifying glass on racism, which is so prevalent in our country. I guess that's what makes people more uncomfortable about Soul Man. But I think it's an important movie.
Robert Downey Jr. referenced Howell and Soul Man when addressing the potential controversy over his role in Tropic Thunder: "At the end of the day, it's always about how well you commit to the character. If I didn't feel [the role in Tropic Thunder] was morally sound, or that it would be easily misinterpreted that I'm just C. Thomas Howell [in Soul Man], I would've stayed home."
Mathcore band Botch has a track named "C. Thomas Howell as the 'Soul Man'" on their album We Are the Romans (1999).

ANOTHER AU!? I know what you're saying... Gwen, you're nuts. But not only are you absolutely right, I think this one might be my most ambitious one yet. As a young nerd, there were two groups. The Marvel fans and the DC fans. And while the rivalry certainly has calmed down a bit, I was almost always torn. So, earlier in the week, I decided to do the one thing that every fanfic writer has tried at least once.
A Marvel/DC crossover.
But unlike the typical realm merger, to put it in Mortal Kombat terms, this is a universe where both properties coexist. For example, picture a group of people walking to a Big Belly Burger while listening to Just the Facts with J. Jonah Jameson. That's just a fraction. I have an ENTIRE starting cast as well.

ANIMATED LUCY!
Lucille Ball & Animation
Lucille Ball worked with many performers, and many of them were just as famous for their voices as their faces! As well as working for Desilu, actors worked for Warner Brothers, Disney, and other producers of animation - some of which is still popular today.
DISNEY
Walt Disney himself turned up on "Hedda Hopper's Hollywood" (1960), one of the gossip columnist's television specials that also featured Lucille Ball, among many others.
VERNA FELTON
Verna Felton (1890-1966) made her professional stage debut at the age of 10 as ‘Little Verna Felton,’ working extensively on stage. On “I Love Lucy” Felton portrayed Mrs. Porter, the no-nonsense housekeeper in “Lucy Hires a Maid” (1953). and Mrs. Simpson in "Sales Resistance” (1953), a housewife to whom Lucy tries to sell a Handy Dandy vacuum cleaner - only to find out that she has no electricity! She received two Emmy nominations for her role in the Desilu series “December Bride,” playing Hilda Crocker from 1955 to 1959 opposite Spring Byington as Lily. In one episode, producer Desi Arnaz guest-starred as himself.
For Walt Disney, Felton voiced three elephants: Elephant Matriarch and Mrs. Jumbo in Dumbo (1941), as well as Winifred in The Jungle Book (1967). She played two Queens: The Queen of Hearts in Disney’s Alice in Wonderland (1951) and Queen Leah in Sleeping Beauty (1959). Her more human characters included Aunt Sarah in Lady and the Tramp (1955) and - a rare non-Disney female - Pearl Slaghoople, Wilma’s mother, on “The Flintstones”. She also voiced two wand-wavers: Flora in Sleeping Beauty and - perhaps most famously - The Fairy Godmother in Disney’s Cinderella (1950), where she introduced the song “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” to the world.
Her son, Lee Millar Jr., made four appearances on “I Love Lucy" and one episode of "The Lucy Show." He appeared with his mother in the 1955 animated feature Lady and the Tramp as Jim Dear and the Dogcatcher. Felton's husband and Millar's father, who did not appear with Lucy during his career, was most famous as the voice of Disney's Pluto from 1930 until his death in 1941.
ELEANOR AUDLEY
Eleanor Audley (1905-1991) played Lucille Ball’s mother-in-law on “My Favorite Husband.” She would later play Eleanor Spalding, owner of the Westport home the Ricardos buy in “Lucy Wants To Move to the Country” (1957) as well as one of the Garden Club judges in “Lucy Raises Tulips” (1957). She was seen as a Society Reporter on a 1965 episode of "The Lucy Show."
She is probably best known, however, as the voice of two of Disney’s most memorable animated villainesses: Lady Tremaine, the wicked stepmother in Cinderella (1950); and the evil Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty (1959). She served as the physical model for both characters.
HANS CONRIED
Hans Conried (1917-1982) first worked with Lucille Ball in the 1942 film The Big Street and played a myriad of roles on her radio show “My Favorite Husband.” On “I Love Lucy” he had just played Mr. Jenkins, used furniture salesman (above), a month earlier in "Redecorating" (1952) and returned to play Percy Livermore, "The English Tutor" (1952).
Early in the episode, Ricky reads from a children's book. While the story he reads is Little Red Riding Hood, the book cover is definitely Peter Pan. Coincidentally (or not), Conried had just finished voicing Captain Hook / Mr. Darling for Disney's animated feature Peter Pan, which would be released just a month later, in February 1953. That same year he voiced Thomas Jefferson in Disney's animated short, Ben and Me. Perhaps his best loved voice was that of Snidely Whiplash on the Bullwinkle and Dudley Do-Right cartoons starting in 1959. Conried made two appearances on "The Lucy Show" (both as acting / voice coach Dr. Gitterman) and on "Here's Lucy" with his long-time co-star Danny Thomas.
PINTO COLVIG
Pinto Colvig (1892-1967) was the original voice of Disney’s Pluto and Goofy. He provided the neighs for Gulliver the horse in "Horseback Riding" (1949), an episode of Lucille Ball's radio series "My Favorite Husband". He also did all the dog barks for “Lucy is Her Own Lawyer” (1964).
GINNY TYLER
Ginny Tyler (1925-2012) voiced Clementine the sheep in “Lucy Buys a Sheep” (1962), Greenback, Mr. Mooney's cockatiel, in "Lucy Gets the Bird" (1964), and Polly the Parrot in "Lucy in the Jungle" (1971). She also did the voices of the sheep in Disney’s Mary Poppins and the singing squirrel in The Sword in the Stone. She started out narrating record albums for Disney, including “Bambi” and “Babes in Toyland.”
JUNE FORAY
June Foray (1917-2017) was one of Hollywood's most famous and busiest voice actors. She did the voice of Lucifer the cat in Disney's Cinderella (1950), and voiced a mermaid and a squaw in Disney's Peter Pan (1953), among others. In 1957, she did the barks of Fred the dog on "I Love Lucy." She is probably best remembered as Rocky the Flying Squirrel and Natasha Fatale in the "Bullwinkle" cartoons.
CLEO
When "The Ricardos Change Apartments" (1953), Lucy fills the flat with as many toys as possible, including a bathtub toy called Cleo, the goldfish from the Disney Pinocchio (1940). When Ricky squeezes her, Cleo spits in his face!
SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS
In 1938, Lucy modeled ladies' hats based on the characters Prince Charming and Sneezy from Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. Needless to say, she looked “charming”.
In a 1949 episode of "My Favorite Husband," Liz and Iris bemoan that they won't be going anywhere sunny for summer vacation. They say their goodbyes.
LIZ: “Goodbye, Paleface!”
IRIS: “See you later, Snow White!”
The Paleface was a Bob Hope / Jane Russell film released at the very end of 1948. Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937) featured the voices of future “Lucy” cast members Pinto Colvig and Moroni Olsen.
"LUCY AND THE MONSTERS" (1965) involves a shared horror movie dream. To find out who is the prettiest witch, Lucy and Viv ask the magic mirror: “Mirror, mirror on the wall; Who’s the fairest of them all?” This is the same query the Evil Queen asks her magic mirror in the Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. In the film, the voice was that of Moroni Olsen, who played the Judge in the "I Love Lucy" episode "The Courtroom" (1952).
CINDERELLA
“Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo” a song written in 1948 by Al Hoffman, Mack David, and Jerry Livingston for the 1950 Disney animated film Cinderella, was heard in a 1950 episode of "My Favorite Husband" titled "Liz Writes a Song". For inspiration, George suggests they listen to the radio and hears "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo”. Mr. Atterbury (Gale Gordon) questions what the nonsense lyrics mean. In "CHER...AND OTHER FANTASIES" (1979) a Cleaning Lady (Lucille Ball) pushes a cart and sings “Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo,” Cher just wants to get out of the building. The Cleaning Lady suggests she wait till midnight when her white mice and pumpkin turn into a coach and horses. The special also includes a reference to....
BAMBI
Winding her way through the warehouse, Cher encounters Shelley Winters, a purveyor of movie memorabilia.
CHER: “Do you have 'Bambi’?”
SHELLEY: “I don’t have that in stock, but I’ve got a rifle from 'Winchester 73.'”
Winchester 73 was a 1950 film about a prized rifle that starred Shelley Winters and James Stewart. Shelley fires the rifle in the air and Cher takes on the roles of Bambi’s mother and father.
DUMBO
"Liz and the Green Wig" (1950), an episode of "My Favorite Husband" includes a mention of Dumbo, Disney's 1941 animated film about a flying circus elephant.
KATIE: “Well, maybe he’s forgotten.”
LIZ: “Not George. He has the memory of an elephant.”
GEORGE (from the other room): “Liz, is that you? Come on in the breakfast room.”
LIZ: “There’s Dumbo now.”
In a 1948 episode of the radio sitcom, Sarah Selby played Louise Elliott, Liz’s Mother. Selby made her screen debut voicing Prissy the Elephant in Dumbo.
DONALD DUCK
"LUCY, THE DISC JOCKEY" (1965) Mr. Mooney deems any voice contest between him and Lucy like comparing Walter Cronkite to Donald Duck, one of Walt Disney’s most enduring cartoon creations. He first appeared in 1934 and his squawking raspy voice was provided by Clarence Nash.
Other "Lucy" performers who voiced Disney animated characters:
Paul Winchell (Winnie the Pooh / The Aristocats / The Fox and the Hound)
Phil Harris (The Jungle Book / The Aristocats / Robin Hood)
Buddy Hackett (The Little Mermaid)
James Hong (Mulan)
Charles Lane (The Aristocats)
Ruth Buzzi (The Aristocats)
Mickey Rooney (The Fox and the Hound)
Nancy Kulp (The Aristocats)
Hal Smith (several roles)
Joseph Kearns (Alice in Wonderland)
Norma Zimmer (Alice in Wonderland)
WARNER BROTHERS & OTHERS
ARTHUR Q. BRYAN ~ ELMER FUDD
Arthur Q. Bryan (1899-1959) had appeared with Lucille Ball in Look Who's Laughing (1941). He is best remembered as the original voice of Elmer Fudd in the Warner Brothers cartoons. He played Mr. Chambers, new owner of the Tropicana, in "Ricky Loses His Voice" (1952).
"MOTHER OF THE BRIDE" (1986) ~ The final episode of Lucille Ball's final sitcom, "Life With Lucy."
LUCY: "When Margo was little she found my dress in the attic and she called it 'the most bootiful dwess in the world'! When she was little she talked a lot like Elmer Fudd.”
MEL BLANC ~ BUGS BUNNY / PORKY PIG
One of the most famous voices in show business belonged to Mel Blanc, who was most famous for voicing Bugs Bunny. Lucy worked with Blanc in her 1950 film The Fuller Brush Girl portraying a parrot. Blanc and Ball had also teamed for an Armed Services Radio broadcast in 1944.
"LUCY GETS AMNESIA" (1964) involves a rabbit fur coat, causing Viv to say "What's up, Doc?", which was Bugs Bunny's famous tag line. Lucy's last line of the episode also mentions Bugs Bunny.
"LUCY AND TENNESSEE ERNIE'S FUN FARM" (1969) Doing a commercial for the farm, Lucy plays a slovenly housewife who calls her husband Porky Pig and the Jolly Green Giant.
In 1969, Mel Blanc did ADR (automatic dialogue replacement) for two characters on location footage in "LUCY GOES TO THE AIR FORCED ACADEMY: PART 2".
Elvia Allman, who made multiple appearances on "I Love Lucy" and "The Lucy Show", did the voices of several cartoon characters for Warner Brothers, most notably Little Red Riding Hood.
In 1960, Blanc joined Alan Reed, Bea Benadaret and Jean Vander Pyl (all of whom had worked with Lucille Ball) as Barney Rubble in TV's first animated sitcom Hanna Barbera's...
"THE FLINTSTONES"
Although ostensibly modeled on "The Honeymooners," "The Flintstones" owed a great debt to Lucille Ball. Many of the Bedrock storylines were borrowed from Lucycoms. Wilma Flintstone bore more than a passing resemblance to the famous redhead. Others who acted live with Lucy that loaned their voices to prehistoric characters: Janet Waldo, Harvey Korman, Howard Morris, Hal Smith, Verna Felton, June Foray, Howard McNear, Herb Vigran, Sandra Gould, Jerry Hausner, Paul Winchell, and many others.
"THE JETSONS"
In the wake of the success of "The Flintstones", Hanna Barbera rocketing to the other end of the spectrum - from caves to space - with "The Jetsons"(1962). Leading the cast as Dad George Jetson was George O'Hanlon, who had played Charley Appleby on "I Love Lucy." His daughter Judy was played by Janet Waldo, who played Peggy Dawson on "I Love Lucy" and Lucy's sister Marge on "The Lucy Show". Jean Vander Pyl and Mel Blanc turned up as Mr. and Mrs. Spacely.
"TOP CAT"
Allen Jenkins appeared with Lucille Ball in the film Five Came Back. He then did three episodes of "I Love Lucy," all as policemen. It was natural that his animation legacy was as Officer Dibble on the Hanna-Barbera TV cartoon, “Top Cat” (1961–62). Other Lucy alumni who appeared frequently on the show included Jean Vander Pyl, Bea Benadaret, Hal Smith, Gege Pearson, and Herb Vigran.
Select episodes of Lucille Ball's radio sitcom "My Favorite Husband" have been computer animated and are available to view on Vimeo. They were animated by Wayne Wilson using the soundtracks of the original broadcasts.
In “Lucy and the Soap Opera” (1965), soap actor Mr. Vernon (John Gregory) brags his daytime drama role of Roger Gregory is the best part he’s played since doing the voice Oink-Oink in the [fictional] “Piggy Pete” cartoons! Lucy says she’d like to say Richard Burton go from playing “a pig in a poke to a teller in a bank.”
Oh, and don't forget "The Simpsons"! Lucille Ball has had several representations on the long-running show, including as Oyster Shell Lucy, a handicraft sold by Moe in “Homer’s Barber Shop Quartet” (1993).
Lastly, Lucy herself was an animated character. The original opening credits and commercial intros for "I Love Lucy" featured stick-figure animation of Lucy and Desi. The tradition continued during "The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hours", adding Little Ricky. "The Lucy Show" also opened with stick figure animation, but it only lasted for one season. "Here's Lucy" took animation to the next level, with a stop-motion doll of Lucy presenting the opening credits.

In a significant win for LGBTQ advocates, a federal judge has tossed out Tennessee's controversial law restricting drag performances, after hearings in which the law's necessity and broad language were questioned.
Judge Thomas Parker issued his ruling just after midnight Friday, writing that, "the Court finds that — despiteTennessee’s compelling interest in protecting the psychological and physical wellbeing of children — the Adult Entertainment Act (“AEA”) is an UNCONSTITUTIONAL (sic) restriction on the freedom of speech."
