There’s a new puppet in town! And that puppet is you, you look almost exactly like the neighbors! How curious!

Wally Darling

“Welcome to the neighborhood… Me…?”

Oh, he’d be quite confused and especially so curious! You had his yellow tone, his blue swirly hair, and your clothing colors matched his! Just who were you?

“How odd… Do you know me?”

Wally would be so fascinated! He’d think that you must have seen him before somehow, or maybe you were just another Wally!

“You look quite nice, other me….”

He would think you look the absolute most! Wally would absolutely adore you, seeing as you are- well… Him!

Barnaby Beagle

“Well, isn’t this just the most silliest thing I’ve ever seen!”

Barnaby would think it is an absolute riot! Especially if you’re the kind to make all kinds of jokes! He wouldn’t be able to help himself and burst out laughing, he’d find it quite funny!

“This outfit’s missing just one more thing!”

Out of seemingly nowhere, he pulls out a smaller version of his hat. Barnaby would place it very carefully atop your head in juuuust the right way.

Now you really looked like a Barnaby!

“Hilarious! I gotta show this to the entire neighborhood!”

This would be the start of a very lovely friendship! He’d be so happy to introduce you to the rest of the neighborhood, he’ll even joke around about the two of you being long lost siblings!

Eddie Dear

“Whoa there!”

Eddie would flip his hat off! Staring at you with such curiosity and wonder, he wouldn’t know what to even say!

“Say, uh- you come from the same family?”

With how alike you were, he’d believe you were family, maybe distant cousins? Even if you weren’t a Dear, he’d still find it absolutely fascinating! The new neighbor looking like him?? Now that’s something that’s never happened before!

“Ya gotta meet Frank! He’s in for a ride when he sees you, neighbor!”

Of course, Eddie would want to introduce you to Frank right away after getting the introductions all over with. He’d definitely treat you just like family, he’d see you as his sibling and he is not afraid to show it!

Frank Frankly

“What in the…”

For a moment, they were absolutely dumbfounded. They just didn’t know what to think of it!

You had their gray color, the floppy black hair, and even the same patterns they had on their vest!

How uncanny!

“Where in the world did you come from?”

They’d feel quite curious, studying you from head to toe. Frank would be startled by your existence, wondering just how this came to be. The similarities were just so on point! You might as well have come from the same family they did… But they’ve never even heard of you!

“What a curious, curious creature you are…”

They couldn’t help but feel so strange about you! They wanted to learn all about you and Frank would absolutely love to get closer to you!

Julie Joyful

“Oh, my me!”

Julie would be so very excited! Your hair, your clothes, your eyes! Oh, all those traits just reminded her of.. her!

She’d be over the moon and so excited to get to know you! It’s not every day you get to meet someone so identical to you!

“You look amazing! OhH! I love it!”

Julie would love to play dress up with you, wanting to try and wear the same outfits with you! She’d call the both of you twins and would feel an almost familial kind of connection with you!

“Let’s both play business partners! Come on, come on! Let’s get Frank out to play!”

She’s absolutely happy to introduce you to her best friend Frank and even more happy to be playing one of her most favorite games! Such a lovely start to an especially lovely friendship!

Howdy Pillar

“Howdy there!… Huh?”

It was quite the shock for the bodega owner! You looked like some other kind of version of him- you even had the same four pairs of limbs!

He’d be scratching his head, trying to figure out if you were one of his siblings or not… He’s just never seen you before!

“Well! How’s it like having those extra pair of limbs, neighbor?”

Howdy would be quite humorous! He’d think it was nice to have someone he could relate to and he’d be ever so curious as to how you could look so alike with him! Admittedly, he’d feel a little guilty at first since he’d think maybe he’s forgotten about one of his siblings but would very quickly cheer up when realizing you just happened to look like him!

“Us four arms better stick together, eh?”

He’d think you’re an absolute joy! And he would really love your company, Howdy would definitely treat you as if you were one of his siblings!

Sally Starlet

“Wow! Did you come from the sky, too??”

Sally would think you had come from the same patch of stars, but if you didn’t then she’d get all the more curious! She would want to know all about you and she’d love to have you join her plays!

“Would you like to sing with me? You have such a nice voice!”

The two of you would click so well! She could talk and talk and talk and you’d listen! Sally would be ever so excited to become closer to you, she just couldn’t help but feel so familiar with you!

“We make such a good team!”

Sally would be even more joyful if you were to accept her proposal with joining one of her plays! She’d absolutely love to share the spotlight with you, seeing as both of you are stars!

Poppy Partridge

“Oh, my!”

Poppy would be wonderstruck.

Such lovely colors you have! Especially if you has a few feathers on you!

She would be absolutely enamored by you and she would love to get to know more about you!

“You look so delightful, neighbor. Absolutely lovely.”

Poppy would definitely invite you for a baking session! She wants to share her hobbies with you and would love to talk on and on with you about this and that and those!

“How about crochet? Would you perhaps like to do that?”

You’d definitely become one of Poppy’s most closest and dearest friends! She’d love to try your hobbies too! Oh, she would just love to know everything about you! She is just so fascinated!

Cylas wasn't sure how many times exactly she'd read this fic - or the parts that were available - but it was on her mind a lot, and she kept coming back to check if there had been an update. The author was still writing, which was nice, and they hoped that the story was only on break due to a temporary loss of inspiration, and not abandoned forever. Part of them wanted to comment or message the author, asking if he'd planned on continuing, but she didn't want to seem annoying or put pressure on him.

Still, one day after a particularly frustrating day at work, they decided to just say "fuck it" and to at least show their interest by leaving long in-depth reviews of every. single. chapter. Pointing out her favourite parts, lines that were in her head all the time, and scenes she could read over and over. She'd had some exchanges in comment sections of other fics and the author did seem nice enough, so she hoped that this would make him happy rather than make him feel stressed or overwhelmed.

It took the better part of their evening, and by the time they were done, they felt both exhausted and had a sense of accomplishment. Whether or not they got a response would have to wait for the next day. And even then, chances are she'd put off checking on it for a while, being somewhat anxious about the possible reaction.

After feeding the cats - all three of which were looking at her disapprovingly, for their usual dinner time had long since passed - she brushed her teeth, put on her pyjamas, and went to bed. She really hoped that she hadn't or wouldn't upset the author.

Max yawned as he threw his keys in the usual plant pot, still tired and sore from work. Still… The one thing that wouldn’t let him alone was his mind. He may have been fatigued, but he’d been thinking about doing that new update all day!

After lounging around and eating, he finally got around to opening his laptop and his blue eyes blew wide open when he discovered the amount of notifications that had accumulated. It hadn’t been that long since he’d checked his inbox… Max soon realised it was all from the same person. Someone had taken the time to leave comments on every chapter of one of his stories.

Oh… I remember that username…

Specifically it had been one he’d been having a bit of difficulty continuing for a while. He didn’t know whether to feel guilty or elated at this person’s enthusiasm, but in the end he settled for grateful. It wasn’t everyday he got such an involved reader, after all!

He spent time reading through all the comments, sipping at a little beer. It reminded him again of how much fun he had writing this story, all the times they mentioned things they enjoyed or that were thrilling…

Max felt a real sense of appreciation by the time he was done, and slightly giddy at how much work this person put into letting him know their thoughts. He decided to message them back, since they’d brought up a few points he thought were interesting and hadn’t thought of before:

“Hey, I just wanted to thank you for all your kind words! Also I apologise for how long it’s taken me to update lol I have a bad habit of just getting super sidetracked on different projects lately. Hope to get back to it at some point though. Your insight was really great! I hadn’t thought of some of this before. You reminded me of why I love fan works in the first place and especially this one.”
