I’ve already said it, I’ll say it again, Mal du Pays is such a visceral and clever word to describe Siffrin’s Sadness. When I first saw it in game it genuinely made me pause like. Yes, it translates to homesickness. But it has the literal word for country in it. “Country sickness”. For a guy whose core problem is that his childhood, his culture, his country is missing. One could argue it’s a twisted pun. I’m obsessed with it.

Just adding to everything that’s been said: both the importance of Hen and Michael as preplanned queer characters and of Buck as an unplanned one are being underestimated. They’re both so so special, in so so different ways.

I love Hen, Karen, Michael, and David. they are part of a growing group of positive media representation for queer people.

Bi, trans, ace, and other kinds of queer people simply don’t get as much positive media rep. So when it happens, it’s a big deal.

Buck being an unplanned character coming out as bi is a big deal. Honestly it’s kinda monumental. Do I want it to be? No I don’t. I wish this was the norm. But the harsh truth is that it isn’t. It’s not the norm, and this is a small step towards normalization. And it is massive.

The fact that 911 started with multiple queer people of color some of which are main cast is a big deal.

This show is a big deal. So yeah, join in because Buck is bi but please appreciate all that came before that. Appreciate how we got to bi Buck. Appreciate how we have seen Hen and Karen (and Michael and David) go through so much. Because all these people worked so hard to bring this to us. And they’re all amazing.

i'm trying to be really... gracious... toward people who are just now starting the show because of bi!Buck (and if you know me, you know i'm absolutely thrilled about that beyond articulation) because this is a new thing for ALL of us. but it feels so fucking hurtful that 911 is only considered "gay" now when there have been canonically queer, BLACK people on the show since the very beginning. that shit hurts. is queerness only valid when it's a pretty white boy kissing another pretty white boy? guess so. and, like, i know fandom (as in, every fandom) is inherently racist and i know this fandom (911) we've had our own problems with racism as well. but seeing the world en masse get hyped for 9-1-1 because buck kissed a boy as if hen, karen, michael, and david are somehow afterthoughts is really hitting me harder than i thought as a queer black person. but. you know. anyways.

once again thinking about jason as duke’s robin. he’s ~4 years younger than jason, and that puts him at 8-12 during Jason’s time as robin. that’s prime time to get attached to your local kid vigilante before your own life goes downhill.

and if we try to keep duke’s meeting with bruce in zero year + duke’s age (so he can remember the meeting and hold that conversation with bruce), he has to be around 8. if he starts following batman through the news at that time because of the mess that just happened, the robin he sees is probably jason. Also. ALSO. I noticed a while ago that Prowl has the habit of..like…constantly frowning. So. I did a bit of research and made this graph.

In 70 chapters, Prowl frowns rougly 104 times. And the intensity of this gesture is very clearly correlated with the development of his relationship with Jazz, as you can see ahahahahah It might be wrong tho don’t take me seriously I’m not good with graphs

Honestly, I love it when characters relapse. When someone who’s gotten over their anger issues falls into a situation so out of their depth they fall back on their old habits. When someone who’s learned to open up becomes a recluse again in order to cope with something outside their control.

There’s just something so horrible, so toxic, about watching a character grow and then slip back into their old selves in order to cope, bc you know they still care, that they’re the same inside, but watching them hurt so hard they don’t know what else to do brings a sense of catharsis.
