Something I’ve been thinking about recently in terms of right v left people and has been shown since Biden stepped down from re-election, is the idea of improvisation.

Conservatives just don’t have that ability, or if they do, it is so atrophied as to be useless. They create 900 page plans for overthrowing every non-straight/non-white/non-christian nationalist persons rights, but those plans are built on every single thing going exactly how they see it going, and if you pull one card, the whole house crumbles. They’ve been working toward these goals for decades, and certainly while Kamala or whoever else is not a guaranteed win, with Biden dropping out you can see the wind pulled from their sails and they have no idea what to do. They didn’t plan for this, and they can’t improvise. They showed their hand with project 2025 because they were certain they couldn’t lose because everything has been going to plan, so to speak.

But you can also see it in their humor. It’s why they’ve been railing on the same pronoun jokes for a decade. It’s why conservative comedians play for applause instead of laughs, because they don’t write anything that subverts anyone’s expectations, and they aren’t generally that good at improvising.

You see it in the very nature of their political positions. Conservative positions are generally in opposition to change. It is the ideology of the status quo. They HATE change to the system they occupy because they cannot cope with it. They don’t know how to roll with the punches and adapt.

Conservatives strength comes from their ability to manage the presentation of a unified front, consistent messaging (see the culture war talking points from top down), and to be oppositional defiant for long enough to wear down their opponents who are trying to do something.

Their weakness is within that strength. They dig their heels in so deep that when something shifts, the momentum changes, they fall on their face and their illusions of unity collapse as well (conservative media is now debating whether Vance is the right choice for VP) Even messaging gets scattered and has a hard time remaining consistent (see Trump still attacking Joe Biden even though he’s no longer running).

The lesson here, is that fascists rely on presenting the idea that you’ve already lost against them. Too often people on the left and liberals fall into that despondency and believe them. The power to defeat them lies in putting them off balance, work asymmetrically, because they cannot improvise. They imprison themselves with order, despite railing against the prevailing rules.

While they go about manicuring the front yard, be a vine in the back yard and go fucking wild.

Political magic is some of the hardest magic.

I missed the first Bind Trump but I joined Bind Trump 2016 and he still managed to win this election.

I did a sickness ritual toward an abusive company. They got sued months later and employees (after I already quite) joined to unionize. It didn't happen because they all got fired. Fuck 'at will' states.

They demand a two week notice but can terminate you at their leisure. Fuck. That.

Dayside Ways to Make Change

There are a number of ways to fight the oppressors, be they political or corporate.

Firstly, you can be a kind person but take no shit from bigots and bad bosses. Things are a bit complicated in the work world, but you can do little things like uplift fellow coworkers, go to higher management, Human Resources, and review them on Glassdoor and Indeed as a current or former employee. It puts your experience in the infosphere where others can make an actual informed choice.

You can donate time by volunteering or giving money to groups seeking to make a change. Shop locally, buy produce at Farmer's Markets if you have it, and share information on social media. You can also just be kind to others, donate clothes and food to shelters, and participate in holiday drives.

You can heckle your representatives with non stop emails and go to protests and join the marches.

Magically, you can use the above sigil (used with permission) by making stickers, wheat paste, or stencils, and pasting them around. On banks, major corporations, trains, bus stops, etc.

They call this the Assault on Reality. The purpose is to make the world more magical for everyone of us, to use magic to bring about positive change.

This sigil is built with anti-fascist safeguards and ideals in mind. Use it to bring forth the witch ancestors, the city-faeries, the magic that flows in your blood to unleash a collective power of hope and a war on fascism and concensus reality.
