Kinda bugs me when people act like the whole gang apart from Pony and Darry are dumb or illiterate or bad at school. Like yeah, Soda and Dally dropped out and Two’s been held back twice, but Steve and Johnny haven’t. I’m not saying they’re geniuses or anything but the 1960s were way befor No Child Left Behind. If they failed enough classes they’d have been held back and if they failed one or two they’d have to repeat them, which isn’t the case so academically Johnny Cade is absolutely holding his own and so is Steve Randle. They don’t have marks like Pony’s that could get them scholarships but they’re probably pretty solid B and C students like c’mon guys let’s get away from the stereotype that poor kids with shit parents are automatically stupid.

What do you think about Tavros and Dave's relationship? they interact quite interestingly in the first acts, and it seems to me that people undeservedly overlook this

Dave c3< Tavros c3< Equius is one of my endgame ships.

I also don't really mind Dave <3< Tavros because they definitely have a contentious relationship, but I think the Dave/Tavros/Equius throuple suits all three of them better and is also a more healthy and positive force for Dave overall. Especially because parallels are already there - Dave and Tavros's interaction is largely Dave making Tavros really uncomfortable, and then Tavros trying to get back at him via rap; meanwhile, Dave encourages Equius to rap, and is then made really uncomfortable. Together, they can be miserable while rapping at each other together.

But more seriously, one of Dave's biggest problems on the meteor was how fucking lonely he was. After basically ruining things with Terezi because he didn't understand troll quadrants and didn't want to learn, he had pretty much nobody to talk to, and especially nobody to rap with (the activity he's constantly seen doing to try and pass the time), which is why he became so obsessively clingy to the Mayor. Gamzee stopped talking to everyone except Terezi, Rose and Kanaya were busy being codependent and/or having substance abuse problems, and Karkat just thinks Dave's rap shit is dumb and cringe. It was like, really bad for him.

In a hypothetical situation where Tavros and Equius are both brought back to life, a lot of problems are actually solved for Dave - he has two rap buddies (three if you count redeemed Gamzee, who's <> with Tavros in this scenario) and is made to accept troll polyamory... by FORCE. I pretty much imagine that he kind of falls ass backwards into this auspicetism without even realizing it, and when someone breaks the news to him that he's dating the two worst trolls, he'd be like NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! and go crawling back to Terezi on his hands and knees like babe im so sorry please take me back. don't let my defining relationship be this unforgivable threesome

But it'd also be good for Tavros and Equius. Equius is genuinely polite, even if he is bossy, and if he tries to get all weird at Tavros about... y'know, the stuff Equius is weird about, Dave would feel the need to step in, and be like, bro, you two are literally the two biggest weirdos on this meteor, why tf are you beefing (and then theyd be like was that a livestock pun and dave would be like stfu)

Meanwhile, Tavros doesn't seem to be able to stop himself from bugging Dave, and to be frank, Dave's kind of out of Tavros's league? like their first interaction went so badly for Tavros that he BLOCKED Dave, which is hilarious. But Equius doesn't stand for 100dness and crassness, so there's no way he wouldn't feel the need to intervene and prevent things from going that far, inadvertently turning their throuple into a safe space for Tavros to practice self-assertion

And Dave also keeps goading Equius into doing shit, and it backfires horrifically every single time, but you know what? Dave is TAVROS's rival, okay, Tavros called dibs, and with Equius being... the way that he is... he WOULD listen to Tavros and back off. And of course that just sets Dave off, and the beautiful cycle continues. Like they all kind of vaguely hate each other and need to meddle with each other, but in a way that all three of them walk away as better, healthier people.

Also the way Karkat would be like holy fucking shit, this is the most stable auspicetism ive ever seen, i mean this from the bottom of my pusher, like completely genuinely and sincerely, congratulations & dave would be like shut UP!!! 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Ekko and Mel......now that was personal. They really gave them the Magical Negro™ treatment and no time to explore it. And oh boy, am I tired of it. I hate the narrative of black characters having to self-sacrifice for people who would not do the same for them. Could you imagine being fucked with by something like the Arcane or LeBlanc for allegedly a year or so,just to immediately go to war the moment you're back in normal surroundings? Do they get a break at all? Like damn.

Neither of these characters nor their trauma was ever taken seriously. I haven't forgotten how this fandom acted towards Mel in season one because of her entanglement with Jayce and the blatant slut-shaming and misogynoir that came with it. Nor have I forgotten how Ekko and his dynamic with Jinx was hyped up for the past three years to market season 2, just to barely get screen time in said season (outside saving everyone's ass in the finale).

ok so there are some aspects of this that i agree and disagree with

- the self-sacrificing part i disagree with. yes both characters have miserable endings but other characters also sacrificed themselves for others i.e. jinx, viktor, jayce so i don’t think this specifically is just a mel and ekko thing. i also do believe that atleast ekko has characters who would 100% sacrifice themselves for him aka jinx, maybe vi. as for mel, she is very alone and it’s miserable but she’s also the character most likely to be in the show forwards (noxus seasons) so i doubt this is the end for her.

- i agree that we should’ve seen more consequences of what they went through. the black rose and mel and leblanc deffo should’ve had more emphasis and it’s really annoying we didn’t actually learn shit about that. again, hopefully the noxus show will elaborate. as for ekko, we did get an entire episode focused on him but i still agree that we should’ve seen more from when he got back. with the amount that timebomb was hyped up we absolutely should’ve seen more of it and the fact we didn’t was a massive shame and entirely netflix’s fault (the finale was supposed to be over an hour but was forced to be cut down). i rlly hope they release those scenes :((

- i agree that the fandom definitely needs to fix up on mel. i understand people disliking her when season 1 released because there were a lot of unknowns but anyone who hates on mel just to serve jayvik deserves to be shot maddie style. you don’t have to like a character but people also need to learn to not be a misogynistic twat too.

generally, i get where your coming from because things were really rushed and we didn’t get to see as much development as was actually written, but i don’t see it as a race issue since it’s not only mel and ekko who were done dirty like this but also many others (vi, jinx, isha, sevika) who didn’t get the on screen time they deserved. idk lol

FitzSimmons. If you don't have this as your top, I DON'T TRUST YOU. They are the blueprint, the very epitome of romance. If someone doesn't dive through a space rock to reach me on another planet, I don't want them

Dousy. Ik some people much prefer Sousa and Peggy, and they have a great relationship, but I don't know, I just like Dousy more. Maybe bc I want Daisy to be in a healthy relationship for once? But for only appearing in around half the episodes of s7, they don't feel rushed, and Chloe and Enver have great chemistry. They're so sweet together, I can't say much else other than I love them

Skimmons. Okay okay ik what a lot of people are gonna say, but I just think they're wonderful together. I've drifted a bit from shipping this, I do see the sisters aspect of them (I don't see them as sisters and romantically at the same time, that is WEIRD), but I still have a small soft spot for it. I think it's mostly Chloe and Elizabeth's love for the ship that sells it

Philinda. Tbh this and Skimmons could be switched, they're very close in my brain. While I don't necessarily feel too bad about them splitting up in s7, I like both the platonic and romantic versions of them, I think they were really great. They so obviously love each other, and what more can I say to that?

Huntingbird. 100% compatible 50% of the time, as Hunter puts it. I don't believe this to be the healthiest of AoS relationships, but not everything has to be perfect all the time. One moment they could be making jabs at one another, the next they're making out. Who knows? Their moments are a fun time either way

MackElena. I think what this ship needs is more time. Compared to the other relationships, MackElena doesn't get to share the screen all that much. I do love how they learn from one another, and they've always given me a kind of comforting type of vibe. They're just cute together

Simmorse. This feels like a relatively newer ship in the fandom, and I am all for it. I don't ship it massively, but I 100% see the potential, I think it's very easy to see that Jemma was crushing on Bobbi a couple times

QuakeRider. Just like Simmorse, I do see it, but I've never really been a big fan of it. Not that there's anything wrong with it, it has great vibes, I love the rogue x rogue type ship, I just don't ship it that much. I personally see them closer to older brother, younger sister type of dynamic. But I do see the potential

Staticquake. HEAR ME OUT OKAY? I used to like Staticquake a lot, but on my rewatches I see myself getting farther and farther away from it. It's not that they don't have good chemistry or that I don't think they're really in love, oh no, they have all of it, it's just not the best relationship for Daisy. There are more than a few moments where they're arguing, majority of the time Lincoln being in the wrong, and later Daisy apologizing for it? It always struck me as odd. I also feel like resolved too many issues behind the scenes, relying on exposition to make the audience believe they had gone further in their relationship

DekeDaisy. Idk if they have an actual ship name, so I'm going with this one for now. It's just wayyy too one-sided and doesn't seem like it would work anyway. Daisy was not in the right frame of mind for a relationship, and she seemed relatively blind to Deke's advances. Also considering that Deke sold her to the Kree earlier... yeah, it was never gonna work

Skyeward. It might get up one spot for the Framework version of them, but as it stands, the real life version of them is AWFUL. Ward lied to Skye on almost everything, hurt her, hurt her loved ones, kidnapped her, became obsessed with her, and countless other things I can't remember rn. They're so toxic and if you ship them (not Framework or pre-betrayal), I have genuine concern in your love life

James: has a chaser in hand but ends up not needing it bc “guys it’s really not that bad…”

Remus: takes the shot in one go, pours another and pounds it. Straight face the entire time

Sirius: with a lime. Gives a little shiver but otherwise he’s a pro

Peter: has a lime and a chaser but he can hold his tequila better than the other marauders/skittles combined he just prefers to sip it

Regulus: is a big wuss at first but he also prefers to sip it, taking the shot whole makes him gag

Dorcas: takes body shots off of Marlene with salt and lime

Marlene: takes body shots off of Dorcas with salt and lime

Barty: has 2 shots. Is sloshed. Cant hold his tequila, prefers vodka

Let’s talk Poseidon.

I recently got into EPIC, which then kicked me back into the Percy Jackson fandom and here we are.

Poseidon in Epic and any other myth is incredibly ruthless (heh) and terrifying. I’ve been watching come reactions and a Greek mythology enthusiast explained that this reflection was due to how the ancients Greeks understood the sea of the Mediterranean.

Which was none at all. When they first began building boats to sail at that time, they didn’t have all the tech we have to predict the weather and current patterns of the sea.

Which is why to them, the sea (cough Poseidon cough) is very unpredictable. Ruthless. Dangerous. Lethal. They literally did not understand the sea at that time.

Now I was rereading Percy Jackson and, well, if anyone if familiar, Poseidon is much calmer, gentler, seems in general to be more at ease. And I was wondering why.

What if, due to the perception and knowledge of the sea, Poseidon became someone that reflects something/someone that can be understood, negotiated with, etc.

That’s why Poseidon is calmer.

did you know there's a whole subset of tiktok dedicated to people reviewing the fanfics they read? a part of me does like fanfic getting more mainstream and accepted but the other part of me is absolutely mortified by the idea of someone filming themselves and talking about a fic i wrote for fun and them just lambasting it the way that tiktokers seem so quick to do

I’ve seen a few of those! Some folks have sent me reviews of my own fics a couple times.

I usually just hope they’re done in good faith and as respectful to the author as possible. Nobody wants to stumble onto a video of unsolicited criticism about a fic you worked hard on.

Is it kind? Is it useful? Will giving a full fledged review of this fic hurt people more than it will help? Just some questions i hope tiktok creators are considering.

Hello, I am a rather new Warhammer fan and I would have a question. Is Nostraman culture inspired more by Romanian or Slavic cultures? I know Konrad Curze's main inspiration was Vlad Țepeș, otherwise, I don't know of any other Romanian cultural factors. From the art I seen, the Night Lords are usually depicted stereotypically Slavic.

This is going to be my take so take it with scrutiny.

Night Lords take inspiration from all over. I know Nostramo itself, and by extension the legion, took aesthetic inspiration from Slavic cultures, but I think the Night Lords themselves structurally are actually more similar to the mafia and cartels. Curze is definitely Vlad flavored, but terror tactics themselves cannot be assigned to a singular human culture. Everyone everywhere has used them in one form or another.

I personally don't like the notion of just saying Night Lords are Slavic or Romanian inspired regardless of parallels due to the already negative stereotypes of those areas of Europe, so I will stick with my tried and true of, "The Night Lords are what humanity historically tried to justify as necessary evil." The more you learn about them and the more you read about the Night Haunter, you'll see how he's constantly trying to justify his atrocities whilst simultaneously wishing that the Emperor would hold him accountable for them.

The new eddsworld episodes dont work because they arnt writing them in a format. Its literally “uhh lets do a beach episode, and we will put beach related jokes in” every beyond episode feels circled around the bits (that often fall flat) rather than telling a story.

It was dreadfully obvious to me that surf and turf part 1 and 2 were NOT written at the same time 😬…

Thats why i think the comics are superior. The writing team can make funny jokes. But not episodes(stories) everything (minus the animation) lacks a-lot of enthusiasm and passion

There is no reason for me to want to use gen-AI because I will never want to give up my autonomy in creating art. I never want to become reliant on an inhuman object for expression, least of all if that object is created and controlled by tech companies. I draw not because I want a drawing but because I love the process of drawing. So even in a future where everyone’s accepted it, I’m never gonna sway on this.
