neil originally was very annoyed with perry! he didn’t expect her creation and even when he tried to see her Scientific Value (🤓☝️), he was overall disappointed because she was incapable of most things and very wild - which in hindsight, shouldn’t have surprised him. he tries to set her free into the woods but fails lol

perry always really likes neil! he’s the first person she ever saw so she got attached to him

after he accepts that perry’s here to stay, neil feels like its his duty to at least teach her how to do Basic Human things , because it’s his fault she turned into one. this is what kicked off their bond! as annoyed as he tries to be with her, she’s got silly charm and she’s doing her best, he starts to like her more.

perry follows neil like a duck and is basically an extra member to science camp now, helping (in a way lmao) with neil’s weird experiments and tests. she sleeps at the foot of his bed like a dog and once she figures out how to talk she’s always blabbing to him. he thinks its really interesting how she can eat practically anything, so it turns into a fun thing for them to study.

at the end of summer it kinda hits neil that perry doesn’t have anywhere to go after this. he sorta reflects on their relationship over the months, realizes she’s gone from experiment disaster -> pet -> sibling to him emotionally, so he decides to take her home.
