uno cards

A bunch of artworks of some of my characters for a set of Uno cards I'm making with friends.

Top row:

A representation of the 'two ladies', two divine sisters that embody opposites and are the main religion of Fin-es-mal.

Morrowmin Colt. Son and secretary to a powerful spirit known as 'the queen of all'. Half human Tall tall silly man who flits about the place.

Thomas Linn. Little immortal puritan man. Technically the true king of Sā-foer and kind of Hymire's wars.

2nd row

Hymire Hymire. Evil little vampire/bird thing who's powers stem around life/blood - and the pain of it (very nature red in tooth and claw energy). Delights in tormenting people and showing off how clever he is.

the silver herald. Part of the living statues of the earthen court. Self proclaimed righteous/moral/good person who tends to be protective over humans

the giant Yā-minteria, warlord type figure who likes fighting and all that and her husband (tiny moth man) Alithanthus.

3rd row

Conrad - one of Yā-minteria's two sons. Grumpy and proud prince who got his eye stabbed out by his brother and now can't do much magic

Daltin Keen. Serious faced eccentric wizard who thinks too much and not at all at the same time.

Robert Finch. Royal wizard to Fin-es-mal and nervous serious large eyed man who is way too stressed about most things

Bewarice Wren. A small and determined minded child who gains her confidence due to her isolated upbringing

Jaski and iolnus. A fire spirit and a weird forest man who are looking after bewarice for the time being. Possibly only they understand what they're saying half the time

Lacey Cotingir. Sweet voiced stubborn Noble woman who would fight a bear unarmed if you let her.

Last row

Faibius Cotingir. Wizard to the crown and general soppy sort of fellow. Will not think badly of anyone and is eternally sad that he cannot be friends with everyone.

Misenbough Hareing. Faibius' much older sister. Very much a force of nature within the family (in many ways everyone does what she says) very anxious and maybe overbearing but well intentioned

(Edward) Harrolds Hareing. Deeply wry and sarcastic man who talks in a really sinister drawl. Currently staying at his brother's (Westrowe) house he mainly hangs out with misenbough and often acts as her right hand man.

Reverse Gondolin Tyelpe!

outfit inspired by this post by @thelien-art

#silm #silmarillion #reverse gondolin au #celebrimbor #tyelpe #tyelperinquar #decided he goes by his quenya name for ondolindrim purposes #fun facts abt his design!#when he formally disowned the feanorians he switched bloodred for pale slate and gold for bright silver #and changed his accent colors to finwe's dark fuschia-red #his outfit is somewhat referencing turgons w the black underlayer and the light outer robe with red accents #the heraldic belt is somewhat referencing gils device since in the au lomion & tyelpe adopted gil #the pattern on the hem of the outer robe is similar to the YT valian fashion though the cut of the sleeves is a rev gondolin style #his hair is unusually short- at this point he wears it in a simple bun #he picks up his signature half style after lomions death :(#the double necklace thing forms a similar shape to the YT era mantles/shoulderpieces #and the shape of his second dark layer is like a more modern version of the heavily layered tirion style formalwear #basically his style is 'slightly updated finwe' in a darkened version of lomion's color palette #the feanorian star in silver is his specifically #the feanorian star in gold is feanor's #(sorry curufin you don't get your own star)#he also accidentally spawns a new linguistic rift via the addition of the Gondolin Accent to the Thorn Problem #gnomish seems to have some weirdness around th- words (ie sorontar (Q. N) /thorondor (S) /thorndor (G) )#so theres def going to be a fight or three over the gondolin/gnomish pronunciation in relation to therinde

you can't "just add a few codexes". you have to write those codexes. you have to write them in the proper voice and style and so it doesn't just fit ONE specific person's worldstate but anyone who also may have made the same decision as them. (you might even have to write multiple variations of the SAME CODEX to account for gender/race/class/romance) you have to edit them. you have to decide where those codexes are going to appear. you have to put them somewhere where people who want to read them will find them. you have to program them showing up. you have to flag it so it only shows up in sPECIFIC versions of the game. (because god forbid it doesn't and breaks someone else's immersion) you have to bug test that. you have to hope it still works when it ships.

and after all that the people complaining might still pick up said codex and close out the window immediately. or run past it entirely and complain that they made a selection in the worldstate that never paid off.

and then you've just spent all that time fleshing out something that's just a small nod to a very small percentage of players. time you could have spent on the current plot or companions. time you could have spent on making *active* decisions matter. these things can easily take up weeks or months like you wouldn't fucking believe.

#i challenge anyone complaining about this to try doing it for themselves #really pick up a pen and write these codexes you want so bad #and have it up to the same level of quality it should be for the game #then actually wait until the game comes out and you play it *for yourself* and see if this is still a 'valid criticism'#and hey maybe you do at the end of it all and that would be fine and valid!#until then complain all you want but criticism requires you to make evaluations with context so this is not 'valid criticism'#preparing to get repremanded by my friends for Posting but this is eating away at me inside as someone who takes critique very seriously #esp now that im replaying inquisition and realizing how unfinished and empty it is bc they cut so much stuff to account for worldstates #do you ever think about how upgrading skyhold is almost purely cosmetic and doesn't fucking matter in the end fight #just so some npc in the herald's rest can talk about what happened to merrill's clan or i can get letters from zevran at the war table #granted this prob would have made varric killable and deprived us of silver fox varric so it is what it is #obligatory its fine to be mad/upset/whatever but stop talking like this was a decision made lightly or to spite you The Player #they are not rubbing their hands together maliciously in the writers room like some evil cabal get a grip #dragon age
