#The sacrifice and death never getting brought up was so weird

Tbh the last time bkdk dynamic was so good was season 5. Ever since season 6, it's just Katsuki thinking and worrying about him all the times, dedicating himself to him, and sacrificing/putting himself in dangerous situations for him but never getting the same energy back (except deku getting angry when he's hurt). Like I don't even want the same energy back atp but an acknowledgement would have been great. Like even when he sacrificed himself for him or when later died, deku never once checked up on him but bakugou with his horrible conditions was running in hospital hallways to see if deku is ok
#This is not an attack on anyone or anything I'm just stating my observations#I really loved their dynamic and was waiting for them to talk properly#The sacrifice and death never getting brought up was so weird#I thought maybe in epilogue finally it gets mentioned#Considering how much he was thinking about him and how sfo targeted him for being the closest to deku#Bakugou Katsuki#katsuki bakugou#bakudeku#Dekubaku#Bkdk#Dkbk#Mha#Bnha#my hero academia

âď¸Mild arcane spoilers âď¸
Miiight ruffle some feathers.
Not EVEN going to lie, unnecessary ship wars aside, the fan base has developed such a deep love and understanding for these characters (because letâs be honest, there are some pretty intelligent people giving eye opening analyses) that after the finale, it appears that we have a better understanding of them than the actual writers.
We deserved better as the audience after all the hype over the years, all the waiting, even after some episodes got leaked a while ago, most of us remained respectful and waited to see what this season would bring us. The core characters ABSOLUTELY deserved better as well.
It felt as if I was watching all of the charactersâ development be erased in real time, or become sidelined and nearly mute after being propped up to appear as if they were going to have a significant arc.
With the amount of episodes we had, it felt like they were trying to cram a bunch of different storylines into one 9 episode season and that left us with annoying plot holes and rushed sequences.
And Iâm just gonna say it.
If a certain relationship needed to be sacrificed if it meant that other characters had the proper development they needed and DESERVED, then I would have preferred that much, MUCH more than that undercooked finale.
Donât. Even. Get me started on that caitvi scene. In the cell? Right after that conversation she had with her sister? Donât give me that nonsense about how itâs vi reclaiming her power or something. (An actual weird ass statement from Amanda Overton in a Q&A video about how that was Vi reclaiming and working through her trauma in that cell).
No apology? No groveling for forgiveness? That little argument they had lasted like five seconds and didnât even address the earlier conflict that happened in the show after cait left vi. And before any of you say âcait apologized with her actionsâ
I donât care. Two things can be true at once, she can and should have apologized directly as well as displayed that with her actions.
Moving on to Mel??? We did not nearly have enough time to explore her new abilities as a mage, her armor, and her connection to the black rose. As I said, the storylines this season should have been more refined so we could focus on a central group of characters. They did nothing but hint at her armor from the end of season 1 all the way up until now.
Also maybe Iâm hallucinating, but did we ever find out what happened to the firelightâs tree?? Thatâs one of the main reasons Ekko and Heimerdinger went to the lab isnât it? HELLO?
Next on my list, Jinx. This girl has suffered to no end.
- Lost her whole family except for Vi.
- Almost died once and was brought back to life.
- Tried to end her life several more times
And you slap us all in the face by writing her off?
âOh but she may not be GONE gone, look at the glitching at the end!"
I. Donât. Care. Itâs the principle.
Iâm sick and tired of seeing characters that struggle with mental health and keep having one bad event after another happen to them, never receiving a proper ending. What messages are the writers sending with this? That death is basically the answer because thereâs no hope for them? Cool. That was not an honorable act of self sacrifice, that was plain insulting.
Instead, if they still really wanted to have a Jinx redemption arc and a chance to rekindle her relationship with Vi, having her tap into engineering for the betterment of Zaun would have been the better route.
We should have gotten an extra extended episode since this is last season for the Piltover/Zaun region, and for Jinx and Vi's story. I really want to blame Riot for being greedy and possibly becoming too cocky with the popularity of Arcane that they think anything would suffice because It's Arcane.

You're the one who should live
A/N: I am going through a terrible writer's block for a post so I decided to write about one of my older brainrots. !!This will contain spoilers for lesson 38!!
MC pointing the blade at themself when they had a choice to not point it at anyone all together makes for some fun implications
Warnings: mentions of death, MC contemplating killing themself, self depricating/low self esteem on MC's part.
Summary: After the night dagger incident Lucifer decides to confront MC about their choice in pointing the blade at themself and not at him.
Lucifer x gn!MC
Since the incident with the night dagger there has been something that weighed heavily on Lucifer's mind and that is 'why did MC pointed the night dagger at themself?'. He still has the image of the blade nearly stabbing their stomach, he could still feel how their hands slipped from his, with the knife being pointed at them. Just thinking of what would have happen if Simeon was even one second later sends shivers down his spine.
He went into their room that night to sacrifice himself and give everyone a chance to severe The Ring only to end up nearly losing the one he loves the most.
And that's what brought him back into their room, a few days later after the incident. He would have loved to confront them about their choice to sacrifice themself sooner, but he wanted to give them time to get used to the ring of light. Or at least that's what he kept telling himself.
Not wanting to think about it any longer he decided to knock on their door and get it over with. It was not long before MC opened the door for him. From the look on their face, they didn't expect for Lucifer to be on the other side of the door. It was rare for the avatar of pride to come into their room unannounced, especially since he would usually opt to call MC into his room.
"Lucifer, did something happen? You're not one to really come into my room out of nowhere, not that I mind anyway." MC moved away to let Lucifer enter their room and closing the door behind him.
"Is that weird for me to want to spend time with you? I don't have to always invite you over to my room to be with you." Taking a seat at the table in their room he motioned for them to take a sit right next to him. "But, I guess you are right, I do have something that I need to talk with you."
Making their way to the table, MC took a seat right next to him. Whenever Lucifer had something to talk it was never good. It didn't help that the demon's expression was unreadable, he was neither happy or mad. It was like he was waiting for something to happen, something to react to.
Both of them were on the edge, the silence was too loud and no matter how much they kept on shifting in their seats, they couldn't make themselves comfortable.
"I will get straight to the subject, why did you point the blade at yourself when I told you to use it on me?" MC's whole body went stiff at the mention of the incident.
They were not surprised that Lucifer wanted answers, after all, what they did was reckless and in his eyes, their decision was nothing more than a spur of the moment decision. It just that they weren't expecting to talk about it so soon, especially in their room. They thought they had more time to think about what to tell him.
"Do you really have to ask me why I didn't want to kill you? The same way you want to protect I want to keep you safe and stabbing you is the opposite of that." MC internally slapped themself at how nervous they sounded. They looked expectedly at Lucifer, trying to see if his expression changed somehow but all he did was close his eyes. He looked as if he was contemplating the next move.
"That's not exactly what I asked you, but I suppose the fault lies with me since I was not specific enough." Getting up from his seat he moved to stay in front of MC, towering over them. "Why did you point the blade at yourself? If all you wanted to do was to not kill me then you could have used your pact to make me stay, throw away the knife and refuse to use but instead you chose to point it at yourself, why?"
If MC could be described as something, then it would be a deer caught in headlights. The air around them was suffocating despite Lucifer doing nothing but question them. Taking a slow deep breath they begun to explain themself "I mean, I don't really know?" Lucifer only raised an eyebrow at them but didn't dare to interrupt.
"Wait no...what I meant to say is that I don't know how to explain it. I just saw you guiding my hands into stabbing you and I acted out of reflex. I didn't even realize that I nearly killed myself in the process." It was bullshit, the excuse was bullshit and they knew it, Lucifer knew and MC was sure that Lucifer knew how fake the excuse was.
They were expecting Lucifer to continue pressing them for the truth, to directly call them out on their lie but he did neither of those things. He knelt down before, taking their hands into his. His expression was no longer unreadable and it was not full of annoyance at being being lied to either. Instead he looked tired, even sad if MC paid close attention to him.
"MC, don't lie to me, especially with such a lame excuse." Sighing, he started to gently run his thumbs over MC's hands. "I remember everything that happened during the time I had amnesia. That includes the night dagger incident and the look on your face when you switch the blade from pointing in my direction to yours."
His speech was soft, no longer did he resembled the Avatar of Pride, all powerful and intimidating. He just looked like someone worried about his lover and that's because he was. His love nearly killed themself in front of him and he wanted answers on why. "That was not the face of someone acting out on pure instinct. To some extent, you planned to use the blade on yourself so I will ask you again." He took a moment to look at MC before continuing. "Why did you point the blade at yourself?" Seeing Lucifer in that state nearly made MC burst into tears. It felt just like the moment where he collapsed and woke up with no memories of them.
"You see, when Diavolo and Solomon announced that the power within me is the cause of both your amnesia and the weird happenings around the three worlds I didn't know what to make of it at first. It only got worse when they said there were only two ways of stopping it, the night dagger and the ring of light." Looking at the ring on their MC continued to talk. "No one knew where the ring was at the moment, severing the pacts wouldn't stop my powers from going wild and possibly hurting those around me and we weren't sure if the night dagger would even work."
Seeing MC starting to tense, Lucifer squeezed their hands as a way to comfort them. "So I came to the conclusion that if things went south I would simply kill myself, that way The Ring would die out with me." Hearing them talk about killing themself broke his heart but he didn't interrupt them, after all they needed to let out this burden they have been carrying.
"When Solomon told me that the dagger would only work if I would stab you with it, that's when I made up my mind to follow my plan. After all, I couldn't possibly bring myself to kill you..." Despite stopping from talking, it was clear they still had something to say.
Bringing a gloved hand to their face, Lucifer stroked their cheek. "There is more to it, am I right? It won't do you good to keep secrets like that..." He was aware that he sounded like a hypocrite but he could care less. There was something eating MC from the inside and he would not let them continue on like that.
"There is also what Solomon said l, about 'sacrificing a demon for the sake of the human world'...if that was the case wouldn't I be the better choice. Outside of feelings and only looking at ranks, I am only a human that in a few decades would be gone while you're a ruler of the underworld and Diavolo's right hand man. If someone were to die it should have been me-"
"ENOUGH!" The hand that was gently caressing their cheek was now covering their mouth. "I will not have you downplay yourself in any shape or form. You talk about 'leaving feelings aside' but you talk from a place of low self esteem." Lucifer was angry but not at them. He was furious at the way they looked down on themself and with the fact that he never noticed this side of them.
He wanted to say more but one look at MC and he could see how tired they were and honestly, he was in no good shape either. "It's getting, both of us should get some rest. We will continue this conversation another time." Getting up from the floor he extended his hand to MC.
"You're right, it's quite late and you still have to go to your room." MC tried to go and open the door for him but was stopped by the demon holding their hand. "Why should I go to my room? Didn't I say earlier? I don't always have to invite you over to my room, I can spend the night here with you too."
Putting a hand on the small of their back Lucifer started to guide towards the bed. "Besides, I would not dare to leave you alone when you're like this. You've already done so much for everyone, allow me to return the favor."
#obey me lucifer#obey me#obey me shall we date#obey me x mc#obey me x reader#obey me lucifer x reader#obey me lucifer x mc#mc has a shit self esteem#but so do I#I'VE HAD THIS SCENARIO IN MY HEAD FOR MONTHS#more than an year actually#in my mind there was more anger between MC and Lucifer but soft Luci is also nice

El traded herself for Max in the void: a timeline switch crack concept
I'm not saying "theory" because I'm not 100% serious but hear me out anyway because there is something here, I'm just not sure what. if nothing else I get to inflict an angsty scenario on you
so you know how Two Days Later El's behavior irt Max is just so weird?
after everything that happened, you'd expect El to already be screaming "IS MAX OKAY?" as the van door is sliding open. instead, she doesn't ask about her at all.
even when Dustin says Lucas is at the hospital, El goes "is he hurt?" as if Max isn't crossing her mind at all as a reason for him to be at the hospital.
Will's casual inquiry of "where's Lucas" is weird in of itself. Will was there when El hatched the whole "Protect Max" plot and literally spoke to El while she was in Max's memories/the void. he knew Max being in danger was the whole thing. he definitely would've asked about Max before he asked about Lucas.
then Lucas says how it was a miracle that Max's heart started beating again, and Mike and Will give El this look. the obvious interpretation being that they assume El is somehow responsible but didn't say a word about it. (classic El behavior)
call me crazy, but doesn't it kinda fit to say that Two Days Later El does not have Void El's memories?
the El who arrives in Hawkins is NOT acting AT ALL like someone who watched her best friend die, brought her back, and ended the interaction with her in a dubiously-alive-critically-injured state.
this El is behaving like one who succeeded in rescuing Max and therefore isn't especially worried about her current status. maybe even a version where Lucas never got beaten up, the tape never got broken, the plan worked. who never told the boys she revived Max, because she didn't.
there's just something about El being all dirty and bloody during Max's death scene and then visiting Max two days later still wearing the same outfit except a still-clean version of it. like none of that happened to this El.
there's just something about Dustin's "oh God, you don't know." maybe this El doesn't! she looks lost af.
there's just something about Mike's "we came as soon as we heard." El was there and saw it all, but you just now heard it from Dustin? I know El is tight lipped but you're really saying she got out of the pizza freezer and into a TWO DAY LONG van ride and the conversation never got around to, like... how the mission went?
yet as of the cabin end scene, suddenly Mike and Will both know stuff that only El could've told them. so.. she did talk in the van? but didn't mention the Max stuff? that's even weirder.
let's talk about Vecna's 4th gate
so gates open on the exact spot of Vecna's victims' bodies, right?
here's where the Max gate starts to open in the UD attic, corresponding to exactly where Max is lying dead in the RU attic.
except that absolutely cannot be.
because they showed us what instantly happens if even a small part of the gate crack passes beneath a person. it looks like this:
so if that gate originated exactly under Max's body, Lucas would not have any warning. the only way he would've found out about it is by seeing at least a section of Max's corpse suddenly get vaporized Jason-style. (if not also his own body!)
instead, Lucas has time to see it starting to form and pull Max to safety. which means it couldn't have started forming exactly under Max.
the forming gate that Lucas is looking at as he drags Max away is actually sorta between Max and the spider shrine.
now look where El was sitting.
what if the 4th sacrifice was El, not Max?
we never actually saw the results of whatever El did when she put her hand over Max's heart. the easiest assumption is she just did magic cpr and started Max's heart again. but what if she was doing something to trade places with Max?
"but wtf are you talking about, because El continues being alive for the rest of the episode?"
for this concept I'm borrowing an idea from @heroesbyler that's had me clawing the walls of my cell lately - in case you missed her recent big brain posts, she pointed out some weird discrepancies in actual vs void versions of scenes throughout the show, suggesting that when El visits the void, she could actually be looking into different timelines. I'd definitely submit the Creel attic as another example.
so when I say what if El traded herself for Max, I'm talking Void El and Void Max.
I'm talking something about Max's death, or revival, or the opening of the gates, throwing some kind of trolley dilemma train tracks switch between timelines. idk there are too many details to iron out before I pitch this in seriousness but idk I just. I swear to you Two Days Later El and Void El aren't lining up.
some discrepancies in the real vs void Creel attic (not all. this could be a whole post itself)
void vs UD:
according to the UD shot, the origin point of the death gate is perfectly centered relative to the rug, and, say, a foot away. here's my hasty approximation of where I'd expect it:
this is why I'm not taking the L about how honestly El's location doesn't perfectly align with the UD origin point - because neither does Max's.
void vs RU:
IRL, Lucas is cradling Max across his lap. his legs are more or less parallel to the spider shrine while Max is angled at, very roughly, 45 degrees to it. the bug lamp is centered on it.
in the void version, the bug light is far towards one end of the table. while Lucas and Max's positions feel fairly consistent, their placement relative to the SS is not.
if you follow the lines of the floorboards in the IRL shot, his butt is aligned nearly with the far right edge of the SS. but here, don't they all seem decidedly further towards the left of it?:
as soon as Max dies, things get differenter. now they're further right again, only Lucas and Max's positions are more spoony, pointed the same direction. she's nearly parallel with the SS now. her feet also seem jacked up at more severe angles.
overhead shot also makes that bug light's off-centeredness very clear.
also you notice how we don't see El hearing Max in the void? I mean, she must have, otherwise she wouldn't reply "No, you're not going", but it's just odd how WE don't see that.
I've talked before about how Max says both "I don't want to die" and "I don't want to go," which are two different concepts in ST universe, and that Lucas and El each get to respond to one of them. so why not show us El hearing the one that's hers?
IRL Max is begging for her life, but when we switch to the void, she's abruptly silent and much more still. El only hears Lucas. back to IRL, Max is still more actively struggling and vocalizing a little before she dies. the energy doesn't match super well.
other bits
on the subject of El's "No. You're not going." if you really wanted to, you could interpret that in a "- because I'm going instead" way. I know, she didn't especially say it with that inflection. but it does have me thinking about how incredibly in character it is for El to be willing to trade herself like that.
it made me think of this moment:
yeah we've all demanded to know what was the reason for having Owens assume Max was a boy. but has anyone talked about how El, in her reply to that very line ("no, do not send your men. send me.") does the same thing? Owens just said "people". El assumes they are men.
there's just something about El saying "do not send your men[?], send me" immediately after Owens referring to Max as a him[?]. it gives kind of a "don't take Max, take me" flavor.
there's also something about how Max wasn't supposed to be the 4th sacrifice anyway.
and by this point El has heard the monologue about how all this time, it's all been about getting to her. so she's definitely feeling that Max is dead in the crossfire because of her. you don't think that if she only could, she would take Max's place and face Vecna directly, whatever that entails? whether it's death or some ambiguous awful fate?
can you tell me this kid
wouldn't trade herself for Max?
also just curious that the very first time they played Running Up That Hill, it actually began on a shot of a distraught El walking down her school hallway before it transitioned to Max walking the opposite way down her school hallway. with the song edited to skip straight from the opening to the chorus about swapping places.
don't worry I'm sure there's no way that means anything đ
finally, El is distraught not to be able to find Max in the void when she goes looking for her. but it's weird because El has located corpses, flayed people, and inanimate objects in the void before. there's no reason she shouldn't be able to locate Max due to her being in a coma/"trapped".
what if it's not Max who's offline? what if El can't see into that timeline anymore because she's dead in it?
#this is crackpot but also there's something here#elmax#<- kinda#givehimthemedicine analysis#mine#and yes there are issues about how an El-gate should form where El was sitting when she revived Max which is a different spot#but if I'm entertaining alternate timelines I can also entertain time backing up a minute

Arcane is over (đ) and I have some criticisms so here are my lists of who Won and who Lost in no particular order
LOST SEASON 2
1. Isha
Literally wasn't even mentioned after she died, like wtf was that
We couldn't have a memorial or anything? Come on
Her sacrifice was ultimately meaningless because Warwick got brought back anyway
2. Sevika
Didn't get a single line through all of Act 3
Where is my wife
At least she didn't die?
3. The entire Undercity, to be honest
Where did the independence thread go
Giving Sevika a council seat wasn't enough
I don't like that so many of them had to fight in Enforcer uniforms, that felt wrong
That was the MAIN CONFLICT for most of the show. It felt so weird to gloss over it at the end
4. Vander/Warwick
Gonna be real I wasn't super crazy about most of his presence here, I don't feel like it actually contributed much to anyone's development, except MAYBE Viktor's
We would not have lost anything if they didn't have the flashback scene with their mom
Super didn't like Jinx's ending as it pertained to him
5. Jinx
Hey I super don't like that every character who had a moment of suicide ideation or attempt ended up dead or "dead"
I don't like the way she "died" it didn't feel earned
I don't feel like the ending she got aligned well with her character at all. She spiraled and then just. stayed at the bottom of the spiral :(
They put a TON of family stuff in act 1 and 2 that didn't get resolution in 3
I think they kinda did my girl dirty I'm sorry
6. Loris
Clearly would have had more of a role if they didn't have to cut him for time
NEITHER WON NOR LOST SEASON 2
1. Vi
I want to say she won because she got to bang her cop girlfriend in a prison cell and the sex scene was good as hell but
She also was just taking massive L's the whole time
Like it never felt like she ever had any real wins other than that and that bummed me out
Didn't get enough time to be a dumbfuck with Jayce :(
Caitlyn
Didn't get enough proper resolution for her wonderful fascist arc
She felt a little dropped in Act 3 as well
Glad she got that Vussy tho, good for her
And I did like the vs Ambessa fight, that was also good
I honestly feel like Viktor and Jayce's romance was written better than her and Vi's, and as a gay woman who is constantly watching mlm relationships get so much more attention, it rubs me the wrong way
WON SEASON 2
1. Viktor (OBVIOUSLY)
The fucked up robot army. The religious imagery. The body horror. His robot alien design is scary as fuck. Absolutely incredible work
Got to be taller and stronger than Jayce hooray
They're canon. That was the gayest shit I've ever seen in my life
I do wish they had spent more time overall fleshing out more of the disability commentary, I feel like it was a little lacking in the end
Nevertheless BEAUTIFUL and HORRIFYING and TRAGIC
2. Jayce
See above
Yeah he also got to be a big hero and got to be resolved really well
Did NOT see his death coming that was crazy
They Magnus 200'd his ass, damn
He chose Viktor over everything I'm emo
They made a heart when they touched their foreheads together fuck OFF
3. Heimerdinger
Literally just living his best life
Love that he didn't tell Ekko he can't die, he just let the poor boy think he got fuckin atomized, king shit, that's hilarious
I would have stayed in that universe too tbh
4. Ambessa
The single tear over Kino. Her love for her children at direct odds with her need for control. Her arc was explored so well
Died a warrior's death at the hands of her brilliant daughter, I know that's how she would have wanted to go
Also was very hot in every scene. Good for her (and good for me)
She just got a lot of love from the writers and I'm very happy to see that effort put into an older Black woman character
5. Mel
Speaking of gorgeous Black women
I was so worried she was going to get dropped but her ending was SO good
Her glow up with the gold is fantastic, she looks amazing in the white hood
Love that they gave her abilities that would inherently change her priorities AND gave her the throne of Noxus, I have high hopes that she'll be prominent in another show in the future
They made her such a powerful badass but still let her be merciful and forgiving. Absolutely amazing. She is the wolf
6. Ekko (?)
On the fence about him
LOVED the au scene. Perfect
And I loved that our boy savior got to be the one that set off the bomb that stopped Viktor
But he was kind of dropped otherwise? Like what happened with his tree?
Generally wish he had more development and screentime in this season
But I'm happy he was so pivotal to the climax
AND I'm happy he got to kiss Powder. He and Jinx would never have worked out
7. Maddie
Haha I never liked you. Get fucked you horrible little bootlicker. Typical cop
8. Singed
How come YOU get everything you want?
Fuck you.
Basically all my criticisms boil down to it feeling rushed overall. It's clear that they intended to have more time, and that breaks my heart. We all know Netflix's reputation for cancelling stuff out of the blue, and I've heard that maybe certain parties were unhappy with the depictions of gay romance and realistic social revolution. Whatever the reasons, I wish they had a third season, because I think they could have solved every problem I have with it. Regardless, it's an incredible work of art and very likely one of if not THE best animated series ever made.

Ok here are my thoughts about arcane season 2, buckle up
I wana say, I liked the second season, less about what we saw, more about the story they wanted to tell.
It started fine but as soon as episode 4 came the problem was clear. The pacing was bad. Everything was happening too fast, there was no time for smaller moments. A lot of character development was off screen too.
I've heard they were supposed to have more seasons but decided last minute to cut the show short because 'there are more stories to be told'.
Caitlyn had most of her arc off screen which is such a shame, I really wanted to see how she realized she was being manipulated, I wanted to see her dictatorship era. But we got none of that, it's implied it happened but we didn't get to see it.
Sevika was relevant up until ep4 and then we see her again in ep8. I don't think she has any speaking lines after ep4. Such a waste of her character, she was really interesting.
Isha. She came to the series as suddenly as she left. I have a lot of problems with her character, one of them being that she wasn't introduced organically. She randomly fell on Jinx (by accident). Arcane relies way too much on 'right place right time', on coincidences so, when that can be avoided, it definitely should. Make her fall on top of the first person that passed through on purpose so she won't get hurt (that person being Jinx is the only coincidence here). Her sacrifice felt a bit unearned because we didn't get to see her a lot, and after ep6, they never speak of her again (it affected Jinx sure but they don't even mention her once).
Mel. They did her dirty this season. They speedruned her arc (and the whole thing felt so out of place). I've heard that maybe the next show was going to be focused on Noxus etc which, if it turns out to be true, would be a bad decision. If they are actually planning on making something about Noxus, I'd at least expect Ambessa to be there and also, it would be a great opportunity to learn about Mel and her powers in greater detail instead of whatever we got.
Viktor as the herald, ultimate life form or whatever was so short lived. Make you wonder why they decided to include it only in the last episode instead of implementing a bit earlier.
Vi was also so, useless this season. She did almost nothing. She was a punching bag for the most of it.
Jinx felt a bit ooc, less about what she was doing and more about how there wasn't any time to see her get over Silco's death. Silco had such a negative effect on her mental health (all these hallucinations from s01) but he dies and boom, mentally stable? I would have liked to see her become healthier (it would also tie nicely with getting to know Isha better).
Vander. They brought him back. It was actually foreshadowed in the first season. Him being back is not my problem, on the contrary I think it was a great way to naturally bring Vi and Jinx back together. My problem was how we see him for 2 episodes (and then he 'dies'). It felt like a waste of time honestly, time that could have been used to see something else.
Episode 6 has to be the worst episode of the whole show. The pacing is pretty bad. The events that take place in it feel like 3 episodes, not 1. We get not 1 but 2 different artstyle montages, making the episode look, weird...
The best episodes were probably ep03 and ep07. Both had nice pacing (especially ep07, it felt like it was straight out of s01) and the story explored in them was pretty captivating. But I do have a problem with ep07. It's where Ekko got his 'time powers' from and honestly, they were pretty underwhelming? Also not at all well implemented to the story. We literally see him use them 3 times. 1: when he finds out about them, 2: when he saves Jinx and 3: when he goes back to try not to get captured by Viktor's mannequins. The last 2 on the same episode. That 4-second-limit was never really relevant (at least I don't think it's was). They wasted an entire episode giving him powers only for him to never really use them and for the machine to act as a bomb.
Also I didn't like the dancing scene with Powder and Ekko. I understand the vision behind it but I felt like my TV was dropping frames. It felt choppy, cheap (such a shame for a beautiful scene).
Now, I liked the lesbian sex scene in ep8, I really did, but it felt so out of place. Jinx basically implied she was going to kill herself, Vi was on the verge of tears because she was insecure about how she seemed to only make the wrong choices and then, that scene happens. It leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. I've seen people compare it to the s01 'Jayce/Mel vs Viktor dying' scene and while I understand where the comparison is coming from it's definitely not the same. In that scene, Jayce didn't know Viktor was dying (he knew about his deteriorating health, but he was clearly shocked and left Mel to go check out on him etc etc).
Also, Caitlyn should have gone down on Vi. I think they image would have been stronger. Vi was at the bottom of the barrel her entire life (literal plot point, being from the undercity etc) so seeing Caitlyn, someone of higher status and power, being the one to 'bow' would just be more powerful. Just a thought.
I just feel like I liked their relationship and dynamics more in s01. They had more casual moments, more natural dialogue. Yes we won but at what cost? Their relationship was so sweet in s01. In s02 it started sweet, turned out to be manipulative on Caitlyns side*, they break up and then they're fine again.
*in ep3 it's clearly shown that while Caitlyn loves Vi she's willing to manipulate her to reach her own goals. That first kiss we see was definitely more of a 'I'm gonna play with your emotions so you don't doubt me' rather than 'let's just kiss now'.
I liked how Jinx cut her hair. The whole 'hair holds memories' and how she was ready to move on. Too sad that scene didn't have the proper gravity it deserved because the lesbian sex was happening (probably) the same time.
Ep9 was, something. I'm conflicted about it. On one hand I really liked how they tied up Viktor's and Jayce's plot lines, on the other hand everything else was so rushed. Caitlyn and Mel were a team (they didn't feel like one honestly), they fought Ambessa and then she randomly died from the black rose. It felt like they just wanted an excuse to kill her. 'She needed to die so Mel could become the wolf' no, not really. She could still be alive, have Mel 'spare her life' or something. It would be more on track with Mel's ideals that way.
Jinx sacrificing herself to save Vi was also so forced**. It felt specifically written so she could 'die'. I do believe that 'Jinx is alive' theory because Caitlyn looking at the vents while holding that monkey head Jinx's bomb had + that air balloon Powder said she'd fly away with are all too specific to be coincidences.
**her sacrifice was forced but foreshadowed. Isha was acting as an 'archetype' of what Jinx had to become. Her whole existence in the show was so Jinx could become an icon for Zauns revolution and for her to sacrifice herself so Jinx could see and do the same, break the cycle.
What really bothered me was how Jayce and Viktor seemed to be the only characters who had a complete story, everyone else had a lot missing scenes (they did too but way less, there never was a point where I thought 'where does this come from?', everythingwas explained about them. I wish I could say the same about the 'arcane', magic). It's so unfair, on the female lead show about 2 sisters for the male characters to be the final focus. Also another thing that bothered me how they did a seemingly better job at writing Ekko/Powder, the straight ship we got to see for 1 episode on a different timeline, rather that Vi/Caitlyn, the lesbian ship AND main focus since they're both main characters from the timeline were following.
Something else, I feel like the score for s01 was better/more memorable than s02. Sure s02 has some pretty good songs but s01 felt more diverse on that? Maybe that's just me.
Kinda lazy how they used the same song for the opening credits while using visuals way too similar (if not the same) to the artstyle of the show. Although, truth to be told, the s01 opening was way too good for any standards, it would be very hard if not impossible to make something better. Still, I feel like they could have done a better job.
Also maybe that's just me but there were a lot of predicable moments. Sometimes a scene would start playing and I'd know exactly where it was going (something I can't say for season 1).
I really liked in s01 how in each episode, before the opening, we got to see some glimpses from the past of each character. It was a great way not to have too many random flashbacks and include these scenes organically in each episode. In season 2 we don't get that. I understand that we already know these characters but it's still something I adored from s01.
What made s01 so appealing was how they handled the story, didn't rush things. How they took their time to make us understand and like the characters. With s02 we didn't get that luxury.
Season 1 was a masterpiece and unfortunately, season 2 didn't meet the expectations.
I still enjoyed watching it but it was definitely not as good as the experience of watching s01.
#I can't think of anything else to add right now. maybe I'll update this#feel free to share your opinion too. I'd love to hear it#I really wish they had more time. s02 really suffered because of it#arcane#arcane season 2 spoilers#arcane spoilers#arcane critical#arcane criticism#arcane critique#not art#I had to rewatch it to write this post. some parts are better upon a rewatch some are worse#no one asked for my opinion but I'm giving it anyway

"Basing all of Lloyd's trauma with his dad based on the one incident of him getting thrown through a wall is weird."
I don't think this is the exact quote, but it's been on my mind a lot since someone commented it under one of my posts. I want to make a quick disclaimer: I am not intending this to be rude, to belittle anyone's opinions, or to start any fights or discourse. I just want to elaborate on why myself and so many other people use that moment as a jumping point for Lloyd's post SoG daddy issues.
The quick version of Lloyd and Garmadon's relationship timeline is as follows: destined hero of the world must fight his evil father. Neither of them want to fight, but both must because it's foretold. Garmadon is redeemed by his son, and they build a relationship, making up for lost time. Garmadon must sacrifice himself, leaving Lloyd (at Lloyd's own hands), and was thought to be gone forever. A few years later, the blackest part of Garmadon's soul was brought back from the grave with the soul purpose of making Lloyd suffer.
Okay, that wasn't quick. But the point is, Lloyd and Garmadon don't have a traditional father/son relationship.
In Legacy of the Green Ninja, Garmadon was posessed by the Overlord. Lloyd was able to purify Garmadon's heart when defeating the Overlord, giving their relationship as father and son a new beginning. Lloyd had saved his father and he had forgiven him for the things that weren't his fault.
In Sons of Garmadon, we see Lloyd wrestling with that moment the entirety of the episode "True Potential". The fact that he was able to cleanse his father's soul was eating away at him. He wanted to believe he could do it again. He so desperately wanted his father back that it caused him to act irrationally. He manipulated his friends and hurt the people he loved because they wouldn't let him bring his father back to the light.
Then the fight at Kryptarium happens. Lloyd pleads with Garmadon to change; to see who he is deep inside. Even as he is ragdolled by his father, he begs for him to stop.
"You wouldn't hurt me; your son." "I have no son." - Lloyd and Garmadon; SoG (True Potential)
Lloyd had been beaten and thrown around (and was definitely bleeding and bruised at this point) and was still unwilling to give up on the fact that his father was really gone.
Then Garmadon throws him through the walls. Lloyd couldn't move, he could barely breathe, and he would have have died had the ninja not saved him.
This moment is when Lloyd's view of his father shifted. He no longer saw a man that could be saved; he saw the man who had hurt him, who had destroyed the good person his father was.
"I'll never place my trust in that of which is only a mere twisted shadow of the good man my father once was." - Lloyd, Splinter in the Blind Man's Eye
In his own words, Lloyd describes Garmadon as a "twisted shadow". This is not the man he saved all those years ago. This is a monster. A man who had no remorse for almost taking his sons' life. A man who tried to kill him again after Harumi's death.
And while we, the audience can see the shift in Garmadon's emotions after March of the Oni, we have to realize that it would be harder for Lloyd to see that shift. Garmadon almost took his life. Of course he would be unwilling to trust him in Crystalized.
To close this out, I'll get back to the main point. It's true that not all of his daddy issues came from being thrown through the Kryptarium walls. However, this is where the definite shift in Lloyd's perception of Garmadon takes place, therefore, it is a good basis for his trauma.
#in defense of crystalized lloyd#can you tell i care a lot about lloyd??#because i sure can't#have i finally said all i need to say about lloyd and his trauma?#but this is it for a while#i think...#probably not#ninjago#lloyd garmadon#garmadon#ninjago textpost

FOLKS I FINISHED BEAST WARS (thoughts and spoilers under cut)
1. The timeline is absolutely unique, i love how optimus and megatron aren't even optimus and megatron and how bw relates to g1
2. The graphics will never be an issue to me, it's more than enough for the time period and it's much more than watchable. I'm in love with the slimy cgi and didn't pay much attention to the quality. All i can see is designers and animators having fun
3. I think that the designs gradually got a little fucked up but it's okay
4. I really enjoyed Blackarachnia's character, she was so interesting for me! I'm not aware of the fandom's general opinion on her but she's my special girl now
5. There was like at least 5 times more on-screen gay kissing than straight kissing
6. If you didn't understand how insane i am about dinotrap from my previous posts then now i can say it's my #1 pairing,, i rarely have a fav ship when i watch something because of The Multishipper Curse that makes me think about too much characters together but for bw specifically i have a favourite. Usually I'm a little turned away from dynamics that are built on characters insulting each other but it's a special case, because they definitely share a bond and i can ramble for hours
7. Bw optimus is my 3rd place fav after tfp and tfa respectively (because they're a classic) (even though i know it's not even him) he's very much of a Some Guy who is Hungry And Needs a Nap and i like how he's just. a person. like a leader but he's just a guy come on. probably for the same reasons i love tfa op, i like seeing him get mean and angry and worried and yelling at his team and then understanding that he was wrong. my man
8. The predacons are so chaotic it's insane. The lack of a (main character i mean) Starscream is not noticed because there's not one con trying to take over, not two, not three, but I'm pretty sure everyone in the whole goddamn team has attempted it at least one time during the show.
9. And, with lack of Starscream, Megatron took all the cuntiness for himself. He stands out insanely among other continuities (again it's not him so). That voice? Thanks David Kaye!!! He's doing the whole dramatic hot villain thing that Tumblr loves, with blood baths and everything, and it deserves to be noticed. Megop is the classic tumblr dramatic villain x tired hero stuff you see in like 2016 writing prompts and everything. Megatron is insane here
10. I really enjoyed Dinobot. I cannot say this loud enough but he is my second fav after Rattrap because he's a really interesting and conflicted character. You see him as inherently evil? He does a beautiful gesture of kindness. You see him as good? He fails to disobey his nature. It goes on and on until his last eps. The betrayal? I was sobbing. That scene when he's on his knees with a sword? It fucked me up. The episode ending had me on the FLOOR.
11. I'm conflicted on dinobot 2 because on one hand, i do appreciate how it is shown how actually fucked up megatron and his schemes are. He's insane, and he's obsessed: he doesn't try to make any super soldier or whatever, but specifically wants to bring back dinobot and make him stay. And he fails, because it *is* dinobot deep inside, and that brings him down; his real sense of honor. He won't stay. His sacrifice was insane. But on the other hand, i actually didn't want Dinobot to be actually brought back. Sounds very nice but i think his actual death was really a point to his character that made me love him more. And when i saw Dinobot 2, i was kinda hoping that he would be an empty shell, an attempt, that it would be a plan Megatron put too much hope into, and that it's *not* dinobot, just a copy without a mind. Maybe im just weird sorey
12. Transmutate is gender
13. I love rhinox but it's sad that they didn't make him stand out as a character like the other maximals. He rarely got to be a main character, and even when he got to, he was just the butt of a joke and didn't get to build relationships and resolve personal problems like his teammates did. Or maybe i just wasn't looking at the screen when he did who knows. He's my big weird man
14. I enjoyed Tigatron and his conflict about the conflict so much
15. I'm actually sometimes a little disoriented/lost when watching something so i just straight up didn't notice half the character deaths??? I was just wondering where they went and then went oh.
16. who the Vok are the Vok. I wish they weren't Just Mysterious Aliens but more than that
17. Why did they keep making all of the characters so trans it's not funny im in tears
18. Beast wars was absolutely made for goddamn freaks im sorry. i loved it
19. I think everyone at the studio was gay for megatron. Why else did they animate the scene where he's in the bath wiggling his dinosaur toes
20. WASPINATOR FUCKING HAPPY AT LAST

so with the show gone, what's your headcanon on the ventures's future? have the creators mentioned anything about it?
A few things in passing but not too much. Namely just that Dean is gonna lose his hair and that Hank will eventually step foot in Mars as an adventurer. I think Doc and Jackson said as much that they want to keep the door open for future stories in case they do get to come back, and that they'll always have new things they'll want to do, but anyway yes okay, post-show headcanons:
Doc burns through Jonas Jr's fortune and for the most part remains the same, but he eventually achieves a true breakthrough of his own: a permanent solution to hair loss. It comes with a few little side effect mutations but for the most part it does work and Doc is, reasonably pretty happy that for once he gets something to his name that he actually made and isn't something horrible done to him. "Reasonably happy" is as happy as Rusty is ever allowed to get, and he dies a few weeks later by something predictably stupid, like auto-erotic asphyxiation.
It's shitty, Dr Orpheus cries over it, but everyone kinda saw it coming.
Most of Doc's assets get seized and the boys actually don't get much, he forgot to put them in the will because he made it back when he still had the clone farm. Rusty's last wish is to be cremated so nobody gets to clone him, and for his ashes to be scattered at Spanakopita, which has become a big White Lotus-esque resort island since Doc's last visit, built by Giorgo almost entirely off the Venture fortune. On the boat ride to Spanakopita, (WHITE LOTUS SEASON 2 SPOILERS) Sgt Hatred dies exactly like Tanya did and nobody bothers to fish his body back up.
Eventually some Rusty clones will pop up over the years, one of which is gonna be on that offscreen Rusty that went on the Cleveland Time Machine adventure with Billy. Once they leave Rusty's science basement, Billy and Pete White will never make it to the big leagues, but they'll pretty much be together until the end, and they are gonna go on some real weird adventures, like freaky Doom Patrol stuff, St.Cloud is gonna get up to some shit in the future once he bumbles into becoming rich enough to warp space-time around him just by existing and turn into the world's first Level 100 antagonist by the least amount of effort humanly possible. Actually the whole world is gonna get a lot weirder in the future, when stuff like the cloning tech and anti-gravity music boxes bleed over into general public use.
At some point the Earth will be menaced by the return of General Treister, who has absorbed enough cosmic radiation to become Galactus (this one was mentioned in the artbook as something they'd play around with, if they ever brought Treister back). He will be stopped from devouring the planet by a joint effort between Hank Venture, the Guild and the OSI, and Hunter Gathers will sacrifice herself in the process, passing the OSI's leadership to Shore Leave, who will bring SPHINX back every few months just so he has an excuse to interject SPHINX! into sentences again for funsies. Brock essentially becomes the OSI's equivalent to Red Death: basically retired, but he goes on assignments a couple times per year or gets brought onboard for decision-making, some part of him actually does kinda like this life and he stands by the friends he's made in it. He keeps touch with the Ventures but for the most part he flies solo. At some point he will have enough illegitimate children across the world for them to start their own super spy group.
Hank becomes an adventurer, and for the most part he just remains Hank as always. He makes a lot of strange alliances all over the place, he doesn't resort as much to his entourage of personas but some still come up on occasion (the double life of Enrico Matassa is one for the history books), he reforms Shallow Gravy with Dermott (who is totally 100% getting kicked out of the OSI) and Gary and HELPeR and Scare Bear playing the triangle, for the most part he lives up to the idea of being more "Rusty Venture" than Rusty himself ever was and he becomes like the first major Venture adventurer who's not some kind of monster. He completely and totally blows out any chance at settling down into normalcy, but he lives an exciting life. 50/50 on him either dying young doing something incredibly stupid and careless, or somehow stumbling his way into full-blown Highlander immortality just as 21 foresaw.
Dean I think stays in New York full time and is another 50/50 on him: he's either gonna succeed in having a normal life, or he's becoming a villain, I'm taking the fandom side on this one, villain Dean is not the most exciting idea in the world but it has some legs to it and I can't see him being anything else if he's gotta be a part of that binary whether he likes it or not. In the former, I imagine he finishes college, maybe gets a degree in something lowkey, probably changes his name and settles down with somebody and stops answering most calls, basically makes it like Professor Van Helping in that his life is okay and that's just how he wants it. Villain Dean I think happens in largely a similar way to how it happened to Dr Girlfriend taking over the Guild: not something they wanted or planned to, but it's the best way to keep things stable and keep themselves afloat amidst the chaos that surrounds them whether they want it or not. Maybe he finally listens to King Crimson and it breaks his brain into mad science a bit, as it tends to do, or maybe he invokes his blood right to appoint himself Sovereign but otherwise keeps hands-free of the Guild, and only does it so the Guild leaves him alone and he can boss other villains into standing down. He's gonna have freaks in costume trying to get him for the rest of his life so, fuck it, when in Rome or something.
At some point in the very near future Mantilla takes over the Peril Partnership and guts it to make ARCH a real thing, and maybe in the future ARCH kinda replaces the Guild at the forefront of supervillain institutions, with the Guild having the final word in matters of diplomacy and the old guard and ARCH as the new high-tech face of things. She never succeeds in getting to be besties with Dr Girlfriend, but she does hit it off nicely with Sirena, who takes over after Wide Wale and fires basically everyone that was still around after the Morpho saga. The Order of the Triad actually does succeed in making it pretty big, with comparatively few players but some very powerful additions like Lila, Red Death's daughter, and some of Jefferson's old buddies. Definitely not Triana though, she's got better to do than run with her dad's crew. Somehow HELPeR winds up joining and gets married to the Pants Golem.
Gary is gonna keep on being Henchman 21 up until the moment The Monarch dies, at which point he might actually undergo another big transformation of the self and will probably just outright become a sidekick to the heroes. He's never going to truly be a hero or a villain himself, he gave those a try and he's pretty firmly the kind of guy that only comes to life when someone else tells him what to do, so I imagine he's gonna bounce around until he finds something he finds fulfilling, will probably go on plenty of adventures with Hank. Really by this point he's already an honorary Venture, with The Monarch out of the picture so goes the pretense. Sheila, I think she just runs the Guild for as long as she can, probably reformulates it into something more sustainable by the end of her run. Sheila's arc in the show is about her climbing the ranks and moving away from her role as a number two, and distancing herself more from The Monarch because of it, and she's not going back to her old life so I think she's just fully going to remain The Sovereign up until she gets too sick of it, possibly moves into politics at Radical Left's suggestion and hands the Guild off to Phantom Limb. Maybe even becomes President of the United States for a bit, if anyone in the cast is becoming president it's really gotta be her. Or maybe not since she's overqualified, but still, if she does, in the process she hands the Guild to Phantom Limb, who basically makes it a drinking buddies gentleman's club and is too retired and rich and old to care much about anything anymore.
The movie ends with a pretty firm statement that The Monarch is just going to keep on being The Monarch no matter what and that he will in fact never stop trying to arch Rusty, and he's had like a million chances to kill Doc by now and didn't seize any of them so really yes he will just keep doing this until one or both pass. And I'm definitely thinking Doc goes first, Malcolm is torn between celebrating and flipping the fuck out that Doc DARED to not let The Mighty Monarch kill him, and for a brief moment he's completely and totally unsure as to what the fuck is he going to do with his life. He's like this close to genuinely trying to turn his life around and try to be a Blue Morpho-esque hero again if only because he and Gary had some good times and, y'know by this point he hates the Guild more so than the OSI, but then the Rusty clones show up and, you know what, fine, I can work with this, THE SWEET RELEASE OF DEATH IS NO MATCH FOR THE ACID CUMSHOT OF VENGEANCE, DOCTOR VENTURE, MUUUHAHAHAHAHAHAH!! and then he crashes his new butterglider into a cliffside Wile E.Coyote style and he dies like two weeks into a new plan.
Gary cries, Sheila's heartbroken, but again, they and everyone totally saw this coming.

While we're at random opinions nobody asked for, some Arcane season 2 spoilers (and also content warning for suicide):
I don't think I mind Jinx dying necessarily, but that particular death wasn't very good.
At the end of episode 8 and the start of the episode nine, she's struggling with death, cycles of violence, guilt, her impact on others and specifically those she loves, and she decides to kill herself. I don't think that's necessarily the most interesting thing to do with her, but you know, I get it. The weird thing is that the show functionally goes, "yes, you're right about that, but could you please pop into a hot air balloon and show up in the big action scene first? After that, feel free to die."
Okay, that's mean. There is a meaningful difference between killing yourself out of grief and dying to protect someone you love, and that's what she does at the end. In many ways, Jinx dying to save the people she loves, in particular Vi, is perfect. I just hate how it's written. It feels like the bland store brand version of this arc.
Oh, Vander's here, and he's mad! And also there's this platform about to fall down! You see the screws popping, right!? Platform! Giant Monster! Giant Monster is technically her father, not that it really matters. It just feels like a very basic version of that idea. The show doesn't know how to end Vi's and Jinx's arcs, so it just respawns a random monster with a familiar name, creating peril ex machina, and thus providing an opportunity for self-sacrifice.
Maybe the idea was to give an end to Vander's plot, but Vander didn't have a plot, he wasn't even a character. The Vander subplot brought Vi and Jinx back together and made them question the roads their lives were on, but he himself was merely a catalyst of that. He didn't have any real internality. So whether he dies here or earlier in the camp doesn't really matter. It feels artificial.
I think it also sucks that we never learned what Ekko said that changed her mind, and that she didn't get much of a talk with Vi. The finale of season 1 was mostly her talking about herself and Vi in a dinner scene, because her state of mind was the crucial centrepiece of everything, but here, at the end of her story, we don't see any real conclusion to that. On the list of missing conversations, these two rank even higher than Cait and Mel before and/or after the battle.
Jinx deserved a better end to her story than this.

Jashinâs Angel

Warnings and/or Pre-Notes:
I learn the most unneeded shit for some of my fics
Also a lot of my fics involve sleeping. Maybe it's a sign I need to sleep more
Tad bit unhinged
Threats/talk of death
Toxic Religious Themes
âââââââââââââââââââââââ
My eyes roll over the heap of bedding and limbs curled up on my bed. It's weird, seeing someone using my bed after leaving it untouched for so long. I've always insisted Pain remove it from my room since it has no use. All it does is take up space but I guess it's a good thing it wasn't removed.
I don't know what I'm supposed to do with myself. Usually, I sharpen my scythe or pray to Jashin while the others sleep. Occasionally, I sit outside or walk the forest edges with Itachi since it seems he doesn't need sleep either. Despite all that, I can't bring myself to leave the room in search of my fellow nocturnal member. Or to perform either of my usual nightly habits. What if it wakes her?
What do I care if it wakes her? She fell asleep in my room, if my routine wakes her, it's her fault.
My eyes scan the darkness, searching for the place I left my scythe as I make my mental checklist. Scythe, stone, water, sandpaper, rag. I repeat the list to myself, slowly collecting the items, and leaving them to rest on my desk.
I'm moving slowly because I want to, because there's no point rushing around, that is all. I freeze when my scythe clicks against the floor because I want to, because I want to prepare for any complaint or bitching that might have followed. No other reason.
I need to head toward the kitchen to collect my bowl of water, then I can sharpen my weapon. Unlike before, I stall in front of my bedroom door, my hand resting on the handle. I turn to the side, sights wandering my bed, the red bedsheets that have never been used before tonight, and the unhidden snip bits of the woman sleeping in it.
The longer I look at her, the longer I think about leaving her alone in my room, the more uneasy I get. My stomach feels upset like it did that time Kakuzu and I had bad sushi. It feels like I'm shaking to the point that my eyes glance at the door handle to make sure I'm not. My heart thumps against my chest too, harder than it ever has, an annoying reminder that I am not a God like Jashin. The longer I stare, the more irritated I get, and the more I believe something will happen to her while I'm away.
What do I care if something happens to her? It would be a waste of a sacrifice, yes, but she is not irreplaceable. It would be even better if someone attacked her while I was away. That would mean I had more sacrifices to offer my God.
I finally push the handle down, letting my door creak open. I turn my head again, checking on her - because I want to pick a fight, not because I care if the sound woke her. Sadly, there will be no fight, seeing how she doesn't even stir in her sleep.
I let out a sigh, of annoyance, as I walk out of my room. The further I walk away from my room, the more sick my stomach feels. Maybe something was wrong with the food Kakuzu and I brought back to the hideout today. I'm sure that's what it is.
I move quickly around the kitchen, eager to get back to my room. To see if my gut is right, that's why. I want to see if there is an unwanted person within the walls of the hideout. I want to see if I have another sacrifice for Jashin. That is all.
My walk back to my room is as irritating as walking out of my room was. If I move too fast the bowl of water will spill, leaving me out of my room longer. I will miss my extra sacrifice, the extra offering to my God. That is why I'm so eager to get back to my room, why I'm so annoyed that I filled the bowl too full.
I open my door slowly, so the water doesn't spill, not so I don't wake her. Like I said before, she fell asleep in my room. If I wake her, it's her fault. She should sleep in her room, that's what it's there for.
When my attention falls on my bed again, I don't feel sick anymore. I bet she's a witch, one that places a curse on me. I shall ask Jashin to rid me of her curse.
I settle the bowl on the desk, glancing at the inconvenience in my bed once again. Still, no fight brewing, what a waste. As much of a waste as my bed and her taking up space in my room. In the morning I shall tell her I will present her with death if she falls asleep in my bed ever again.
I place myself in the chair by my desk, letting the stone soak in water as I wipe down the blade of my scythe. As is work, I notice myself slowly inching toward my bed, toward the woman sleeping in my sheets. I'm interested in what sleep is, that is the reason I wish to be close to her, to watch what it is to sleep.
She will die, in the morning. She can be my next sacrifice. A good one at that. That is why I'm drawn toward her so often because Jashin wishes to have her.
I repeat the words - and my actions - as I sit next to my bed, spending the passing hours watching the night slowly bleed into the day. Watching the way the sunrise dances across her skin, the way it makes her hair glow.
Yes, she's an angel, one of Jashin's. That is why He wants her back. His angel escaped His heavens and lost her way upon her path. I do not blame Him for wanting her back. As soon as she wakes, I'll return her to Jashin, I'll give back what is His.
As the yellow of the sun starts to seep into the blue of the sky, she stirs. Her limbs move slowly like they haven't been oiled in a long time. A delicate wrist shifts upward, glowing beautifully in the sunlight as she rubs her eyes. It looks fragile like I could snap it without thinking, like my scythe could slice through it easier than water. Seeing her like this makes it hard to believe she's survived with the Akatsuki this long, that she spends her time among murderers and assassins, and that Pain's pet isn't a kitten.
"Hidan?" Her voice slides out. It's jagged, not as smooth but still as soft as it is during the day.
I'm going to rid the Earth of this witch that curses me with sickness, this freeloader that finds root in my bed, the dead weight clinging to the leader of the Akatsuki -
"Good morning. I'm sorry I fell asleep in your bed. I didn't mean to." Her voice cuts my thoughts off, her words wrapping themselves around my lungs and squeezing them.
- but not this morning. Perhaps I'll return her to Jashin this afternoon.
"Good morning," I echo, climbing to my feet. "Did you sleep well, Angel?" The word slips out before I can stop it, my voice being the one to strangle my lungs now.
Her head tilts, making the curtain of hair slide across her face. Her pink dusted, teeth grinned face. "Better than I have in a while."
"Why is that?"
"Because your bed smells like you."
I change my mind, I'm going to kill her after breakfast.
ââââââââââââ
I'm irritable today, and it only seems to get worse every time Pain touches Jashin's angel. I am not a man of science, I completely offer myself to my religion. Still, even I know how genetics work, and the longer I look at the two of them, the less similar they seem.
Is that why you're here, Jashin's Angel? Because a member of blood is in charge of all of us? Or is he your life partner? Do you love him? Why do you love such a person like Pain? Because his eyes search for you in every room? Because he pats your head when he finds you? Because the only time he smiles is when he speaks to you? If another performed those actions, would you love them too? Is mortal love that shallow? Does it waiver so much easier than my love for Jashin?
Pain's sights cross mine, his eyes freezing over when he figures out where I'm staring. His hand slithers up, wrapping around his pet's eyes, cutting off my view of their sparkle. He tilts her head back, making her neck extend. I swear the sun makes her skin shimmer like stones in a river.
I don't understand my Lord. Is this a test of my loyalty to you or a reward for my dedication? Perhaps my earlier thoughts were right. Perhaps she is a witch using spells to mess with my functions, my thoughts. Or perhaps she's a talented shinobi, able to use justus most cannot, just like Pain.
Pain, who has Jashin's Angel pressed against him, who has his hand around her eyes, has her head on his shoulder, whose lips are whispering things into her ear. Pain who I want to tear into pieces for myself, and not for Jashin. Pain who finally lets the wingless Angel go.
Her eyes aren't shiny like before, they're rather dull, a milked color from whatever he was telling her. Her smile is present, as always, but it doesn't affect me like it did this morning. No. This morning I wanted to cut the smile off of her face for the way it made me feel, but now? Now it makes me want to hurt Pain, makes me want to figure out what he said to dull the Heavens that seep for the Angel's being.
"I'm going on a walk," she starts, the noise in the room instantly falling mute. "I hope you all return safely from your missions." She bows her head, her hair curling around her again, and somehow picking up every ray of sun. 'Thank you's spill from the room as she stands straight, her smile different once again, just a drop of the one I saw this morning present in the one she's wearing.
She leaves the room, unlike usual, without Pain following her nor him waving Kakuzu after her; his silent command to my partner to watch his pet from the shadows as she adventurous outside 'alone'.
The longer she's gone without Kakuzu being sent after her, the harder it is to breathe. Again, this time it's different from this morning. It's not the lightheaded lack of air I felt when she wished me a good morning. It's... just different. It's the lack of air I felt leaving her alone in my room.
I don't care if she gets attacked, if she lives or dies, but it would be a waste of a sacrifice. If she is one of His angels, it might upset Him if a non-believer killed her. Yes. That's why I am uneasy about the situation. That is all, nothing else.
Once again, I do not understand my Lord. Why is Pain sending her alone? No one leaves the hideout alone, not even Pain. I do not understand what I am supposed to do. Have I been sent here to kill her? Or am I here to protect her? I need a sign, a hint in the direction you wish for me to follow. I do not understand. Please, Jashin.
I let out a soft sigh, finally pulling my eyes away from the exit, and letting them settle on the window outside. Perched on a branch is an oval-shaped bird. Its face marked with round eyes and almost horn-like feathers gives way to what it is; an owl, out in the daylight. I guess you can't be any more clear, can you, Jashin?
I go to move, my mind set on my orders to protect the Angel, but I'm stopped before I can even stand. Kakuzu's hand is wrapped around the arm of my chair, keeping it - and me - in place. He leans toward me, most of his focus still on the words Pain is saying. "It's a trap," he husks out, tone low and his body not daring to move even an inch.
"What?"
"It's a trap," he repeats, slowly letting go of my chair. "If you leave the meeting, he will use it to justify killing you, or as close to killing as you can get. He will spin it as you lacking loyalty," Kakuzu says, the words spilling out like slime from his mouth.
"Why?"
"He does not take kindly to his... Dearest getting attached to someone other than him."
I think over Kakuzu's words for a moment, my eyes locked on the Owl still perched outside. Jashin, I cannot follow after your Angel this time. I can't protect her if I am not around, please forgive me.
ââââââââââââ
I'm tucked around the corner from the open door, sitting in one of the shadows, my eyes locked on the Angel as she sits on the porch. Her hair is down, lightly swirling around because of the breeze running through it. It's going to the storm, but despite the greying air and the dark clouds in the sky, she still seems to glow. Maybe my Lord's Heavens does seep from her body.
"You're creeping me out," she says, her words carried backward by the breeze, catching me off guard. "You have been, all afternoon. Come sit or go find someone else to peep on."
Slowly I leave the darkness I failed to hide in, letting the sun envelope me the same way it doesn't her. I stand behind her, careful not to touch her in fear of Jashin becoming unhappy, in fear of her bursting into a pile of feathers before she leaves me for the Lord's Heavens.
"Phillipa - the owl that sleeps in the old dying tree," she starts, tilling her head up so her words reach me better. "He's very active this morning."
"Phillipa?"
She hums a yes, nodding her head a bit in agreement. "It's a foreigner's name. One from across the seas. I read it in a book once and thought it sounded cool when Pain said it."
That is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. "I don't understand you mortals," I mumble, scanning the tree branches for this 'Phillipa', my hand buried in my hair so I can scratch my head. My Lord, your Angel is not the smartest person you've crossed my path with.
"What don't you understand about us?"
"Why you bother naming an owl, especially a name such as that. It's a waste naming something that's going to die so soon."
A soft "hmph" exits her lips, her head tilting to the side instead of being tilted towards me. "I guess you and Nag - er - Pain have a lot more in common than I thought."
"I don't understand." I'm starting to get ticked off with the day. It seems there's not much happening today I do understand.
"Hidan? Do you know my name?"
   "No."
"No one does, not even Pain. He never bothered naming me. He's just always called me Dearest, since the very beginning."
Maybe my thoughts from earlier were wrong, maybe she is Pain's blood. That's what she's making it seem like. "Oh."
"I'm sorry," she whispers, her head snapping to the left. Angel is suddenly perky, her eyes scanning the hidden path that leads to the main paths of the forest.
"For what?" I ask, my eyes flickering between her and the area she's locked in so intensely.
"My brother's attempt at a trap this morning. He's quite upset I fell asleep in your bed last night. Give it a few days and he'll be back to normal again."
They are blood, and for whatever reason, it gives me that lightheaded airlessness from this morning. "There is something else I do not understand."
"What might that be?" Angel asks, balling herself up, knees to chest, and arms around her legs. Her eyes are still stuck on the edge of the forest. What might it be that has her so entranced?
"Why are you here? You do not go on missions, you do not work, you do not do house chores, and it seems you are not Pain's life partner, at least not an appropriate one. Why is it that Pain keeps you around?"
   "Because we're family."
"That is not an answer!" I bark at her, my temper quickly slipping from my grasp. I hate this Angel you have sent me Jashin. She makes me sick, she makes it hard to breathe, she makes me feel lost, and she confuses me. I do not understand my Lord. What is it that you could see in her? What is it that you see me needing her for?
Her position doesn't change from my yelling or me fuming behind her. Her eyes don't even blink. "I'd be careful yelling. He doesn't take too kindly to people that raise their voices at me."
   "Who?"
"Me." The single word sends shivers down my spine, Pain's low voice being the main cause of it, and his closeness to my ear being the backup cause. Forgive me for my anger towards you, Jashin, and please grant me the ability to survive whatever I'm about to be put through.
"Hidan?" His Angel calls again, her voice feeling like a cure to some of the dread-filled anticipation brewing in my veins. "Love."
   "What?"
"The answer to your question. It's love. My brother keeps me around because he loves me."
"No, I don't," Pain grumbles, his hand gripping the back of my neck, fingernails digging into my skin.
Angel's cure no longer works as I'm being dragged backward, but still, she's the last thing I see before the door slams closed. Please Jashin, forgive me for my anger and help me survive the actions about to be taken against me so I can continue learning from and watching over your Angel.
ââââââââââââ
Being buried alive hasn't been all that bad. It's given me a lot of time to talk to Jashin. A lot. It's also given me a lot of time to think about... Jashin's Angel.
Maybe I'm reading into it too much. Maybe it's all been a coincidence. Maybe my thoughts are just my disconnection from Jashin since I haven't been able to make a sacrifice in... a while. Maybe. I don't know how long I've been down here. Long enough to make my stomach grumble. Perhaps Pain will succeed at killing me.
What about His Angel though? What is His plan for us? She doesn't talk much. Most of the time I'm not even sure she's breathing. She doesn't even have a name. Even I have a name. That is something everybody has. Perhaps Dearest is her name. Tell me, Angel, are you Jashin's Dearest too?
The sound of shifting dirt rattles through the small space Pain left me with. It's not an uncommon sound, I've come to learn. I have thought about the cause of the noise for a while too; footsteps over me, the Earth adjusting itself, animals catching my scent and attempting to dig me up, shovels.
Shovels? The curved metal end of a shovel pokes through the dirt, barely an inch away from my face. Who's on the other side? Pain? Kakuzu? Jashin? The next time the shovel digs into the Earth, the end of it knocks into my nose, sending a small river of blood down my cheek. Definitely Kakuzu.
"Be more careful you old bastard!" I yell, shifting myself around to help him dig me out. It doesn't take long before I can pop out of the Earth, the soil spilling out of my hair and tumbling back to the ground. "What took you so damn long to find me?" I grumble, shaking my hair and my clothes to help more excess dirt fall off of me.
"I had to talk Itachi into letting me borrow his crow."
My focus sticks on the ground, the voice answering my question most definitely not being Kakuzu. Slowly, I lift my head, the recently common lightheaded airlessness filling my chest. Standing in front of me is Jashin's Angel, wrapped up in her white bedroom robe. Very unfitting to play in the dirt, but certainly helps her look even more like an Angel. Curled in her shadows with its hair standing on end is very much not a crow.
"Calm down. It's just a transformation jutsu," she mutters, dropping her hands into the release sign. A puff of clouds wraps around the beast, Itachi's crow appearing once the air clears the space. "Crows aren't exactly known for being able to track scents."
   "I thought you were Kakuzu."
She rolls her eyes, tapping her shoulder like I've seen Itachi do. The crow happily flaps his wings, gently landing on Angel's shoulder before rubbing its beak against her cheek. "My bad, would you like me to fetch your Prince Charming for you?" Perhaps she talks more than I thought. I shake my head no, somehow more dirt falls out of my hair. "Then stop complaining."
I slowly climb to my feet, letting myself hover closer to her than usual. The ends of her robe are filthy, as are her house slippers, both cakes in bed. A bag catches my attention out of the corner of my eye. My eyes flicker between the bag and the Angel as I try to piece the situation together. It's a big bag and a heavy one from what it seems. Is that why Itachi's crow was a beast instead of just a dog? "What's with the bag?"
"My brother is a psychopath. Well... you all are psychopaths."
"What does that have to do with the bag?"
"It's my apology present from Pain. For using me. As a pawn. Because he doesn't like you."
"The bag... is a present... that is here with us."
"Of course not, dumbie. What's in the bag was my apology present. I have no use for him and he cannot live after being around the Akatsuki, so I figured he could be of use to you. There's also a sandwich in there for you but it's probably crushed," she mutters the last part, turning in a slow circle before looking at the bird perched on her shoulder.
After a moment or two, the crow takes off from her shoulder, flying low enough to be in her sights and paced enough for her to peacefully walk behind it. "Come back or don't. The choice is yours," she adds on, lifting the hood of her robe, the material perfectly flowing down to rest on her head before she turns away, starting her trip back to the hideout.
I watch her walk away until she's shielded by the darkness and the branches of the forest. Even then I look after her for a moment. What - I guess it would be who - is it that you have regifted to me, Angel? I bend down, carefully unzipping the bag left stranded on the ground by her. As promised, a cloth-wrapped meal is awaiting me, sitting on top of the stomach of a very awake man.
Pinned to the cloth is a note in neat loopy handwriting. Sacrifice, in case you couldn't figure that out on your own. What a thoughtful Angel Jashin has led across my path.
I can feel the corners of my mouth turning up, because of the sacrifice I'm going to make, because of the muffled screams and begs from the man I'm about to kill, no other reason.

So hereâs my thing: I personally donât care if those that think Wally dying was a great decision that had so much meaning and sacrifice think he should stay dead.
I personally will never be okay with the decision, and frankly if thatâs just because Iâm an irrational Wally West fan and Spitfire shipper, then so be it, I wonât claim otherwise and Iâll hang onto my irrationality. Wally West shouldnât have been killed permanently. The show feels weird to me without him, and to be honest it just makes me think of the Justice League episode where the League basically turned evil because Wally was killed. I donât have any real good argument against him dying from a narrative standpoint right now other than we know for a fact he was chosen just because it would hurt the most, but as I said, Iâll fully admit Iâm simply forever pissed such a beloved character was offed. If someone has actual good insight on his death being bs, feel free to share. (Even if itâs not narrative bs, I still think itâs bs.)
All this being said: I donât think I actually want Wally to come back anymore at this point in the series if it were to continue with a s5. I think they wasted too much time and now it would just be far too much misery. Wally would be so far out of everyoneâs lives it would be almost impossible to reconnect and re-insert himself back into life(which would likely cause him severe mental health issues, yay), and I donât think he and Artemis would be able to get back together(not that they have to, but as a shipper Iâd have ideally wanted this outcome eventually). I just feel like they wasted their chance. S4 should have done it, it felt like the final opportunity, but they didnât, and so Iâm sadly off the train for him coming back, unless someone has a convincing argument that any of this could still work out.
I feel at this point that nothing short of time travel, dimension hopping, or a full ass reset could fix it, tbh.
Like, is it even worth it for him to come back at this point? Would he be able to be happy again?
Donât get me wrong, Iâm a Wally truther and a Spitfire shipper through and through, but I just finally got tired of it when s4 ended and nothing happened.
At least we have our brains, fanart, fanfic, aus, etc.
(And for the record, as much as I love YJ I promise any grievances with the show post-season 1 go beyond feeling cheated out of Wally existing.)
(Edit: Wanted to add that the angst, drama, and eventual fluff that could have happened if theyâd brought Wally back sooner/at all could have been delicious. Him working through his trauma, he and Artemis being so unsure of where they stand, so much time has passed, but eventually slowly coming back together and realizing they still have feelings, even if theyâve changed, they still love each other and they want to try and let things happen how they happen, etc. RIP)
(Edit 2: Am I talking about this in 2024? Yes, yes I am.)
(Edit 3: It kind of pissed me off that s4 has such a huge issue of pretending to kill characters off, but then they wind up being fine (Conner, Dick, Rocket, everyone on the ship when it crashed) but somehow Wally MUST stay dead. Why, exactly? No one else fucking does. (Not that I want anyone to stay dead tbh.) It just kind of felt like a slap in the face. Wally died and Artemis was heartbroken? Haha but Conner gets to be okay and he and Megan get married, because fuck you.)
#ranty rambles#young justice#Wally west#Iâm not interested in debate so move on if you think the death was good or he should stay dead#your opinion is fine but it ainât mine#spitfire#Wally/Artemis#otp: when weâre alone#and you know most other characters are getting YJ versions of their âdead but not reallyâ arcs#Jason Todd is so why canât Wally?#Wally is supposed to come back a bigger badass#this is Wally abuse

i love how the more the story in aa progresses the more mia/phoenix parallels show up... even after pwaa, phoenix still carries mia's legacy with him in his own ways.
it starts off with how phoenix has the same mannerisms and behavior in court as newbie mia did and it's really cute watching them grasp at straws to pull a turnabout and succeeding! then we get into the good stuff of them starting their own law firms, right after very difficult moments in their lives.
mia almost loses diego, then starts fey & co. law offices. phoenix loses mia, then starts wright & co. law offices. those losses would have emotionally destroyed them if they didn't have some sort of support during those times. and mia's support was phoenix, and phoenix's support was maya.
it's so amazing how strong the both of them are, just taking case after case relentlessly putting their lives on the line for their jobs and greater goals. it's just that phoenix got a little more lucky and got tons and tons of help from mia past the grave which is honestly so badass of her.
in a way, i sincerely do believe that they saw each other as family. i mean, mia literally saved phoenix's life and probably didn't hesitate to apply to her law firm once he passed the board exam. again, i am filling up gaps here with my own interpretations up in here. i really did wish we could've gotten more interaction between them pre-mia death. maybe mia saw phoenix as this weird little brother she's never gotten, and maybe phoenix, for once in his life, was happy to finally find someone to rely on.
another thing i'd love to touch on is how ... incredibly devoted the two of them are. they love with their whole hearts and are dedicated to doing everything they can for their goals. bringing me onto the : dahlia and kristoph topic. these are two people who have greatly ruined their lives and how do they decide to bring justice to them... in the most badass ways possible.
mia literally got her revenge WHILE BEING DECEASED. finding out that dahlia was her cousin didn't even make her hesitate or anything, she just wants her gone for everything she's did. hurting all these innocent people, and diego, and phoenix. she was apart of such a big convoluted plan that she helped plan from the very beginning to be steps ahead of dahlia, morgan, and iris.
but of course, it all has its consequences. her mother had to join her to the other side, and diego just had to get himself guilty for murder. the plan worked, but so much had to be sacrificed. and, it was phoenix himself, with everyone's help who brought dahlia to justice.
then there's the seven year gap, phoenix's disbarrment, and everything kristoph-related. there he was, bringing back a whole new legal system just to finally bring kristoph to justice. somewhat, with the help of apollo. so much had to be sacrificed too just to reach that point, and it's even a miracle he was able to get control over the whole test trial.
he was forced to forge evidence. he gave said forged evidence to a newbie attorney, risking his career. vera's father had to die, vera herself had to be poisoned, trucy's FATHER had to die, and klavier had to lose his only family left. it's so incredibly crazy.
mia and phoenix absolutely turned the tables on them both time and time again, and still persevered even with all the sacrifices that were made. then basically phoenix got his badge back and now he's a boss too. just like how mia was to him and UGHHH. can you tell i love them so much? they're literally the crux of the whole game series they're my everything. love them. i love how their parallels were proven by godot himself during t&t where they both stood on trial together. godot, one of the people who knew mia the most, saw her spirit within phoenix too. and that made him incredibly happy... AAAHHH!!!
#mia fey#phoenix wright#aa spoilers#super incredibly long ramble that i can't get out of my head they're one of my favorite duos of all time. mia is literally the best charact#LONG. SUPER LONG

[RERUN] Crisis on Infinite Earths, issue 11:Â âAftershockâ (Same great universe, now 80% smaller!)
[All images are owned by DC Comics, please donât sue me]
PREVIOUSLY ONâŚ
A being known as the Anti-Monitor has destroyed all but 5 of the universes in existence) with a single survivor on Earth-6 (Lady Quark) and Earth-Prime (Superboy) along for the ride)
Unfortunately, the process was unstable, meaning that time has merged (meaning mammoths and futuristic aliens are among modern skyscrapers) in the areas where the Earths are merged (which are called âWarp Zonesâ)
The Anti-Monitorâs last three attempts to destroy the multiverse have been thwarted (at the cost of many lives, including Supergirl and Earth-1âs Flash)
The Anti-Monitorâs fourth attempt brought the battle to the Dawn of Time, where the Anti-Monitor attempted to destroy the multiverse before it began, but his efforts were thwarted by the Spectre.
âŚor were they? As the pair fought for control, reality shattered around them and the assembled heroes!
Now, on with our story! If you would like to read this issue, it (along with the rest of the series) has been collected in graphic novel form and is available (or can be ordered) at your favorite comic shop, bookstore, or online retailerâŚor on Read Comic Online.
[WARNING: Things are gonna get a bit weirder and more confusing than theyâve been to this point (and thatâs saying something!) Furthermore, the jokes could be a bit thin here. Iâm not certain if youâll call that a bad thing or not]
We open on Clark Kent (Kal-L) as he wakes up from a bizarre dream. His wife Lois obviously let him sleep inâŚand redecorated? He heads to his âday jobâ as managing editor of the Daily Star. He enters his office and is about to get to workâŚ
âŚwhen Perry White barges in and demands to know whoâs in his office. Thatâs when Kal-L noticed Perryâs name on the office door. In barges Clark Kent (Superman) who apologizes to Perry and introduces his âUncle Clarkâ before escorting Kal-L from the building.
On the top of the Daily Planet, they guess that somehow after the Spectreâs fight with the Anti-Monitor, they both were transported to Earth-1. They fly to the warp zone in New YorkâŚ
âŚonly itâs not there. Whatâs more, no one remembers there ever being anything weird in the area (though they do remember Supergirlâs death).
They then fly to Central City, where the Flash (who is still considered âmissingâ, as no one was present for his sacrifice) stored his cosmic treadmillâŚ
âŚonly to see the twin cities of Central City (home to Earth-1â˛s Flash) and Keystone City (home to Earth-2â˛s Flash) Sure enough, Jay Garrick (Earth-2â˛s Flash) and his wife Joan greet the pair. Joan doesnât remember what happened, but Jay does. They fetch Kid Flash and start the cosmic treadmill and break through the dimensional barrier
âŚto a void; Earth-2 isnât there! Whatâs more, Kal-L feels the void calling to him, like he belongs thereâŚthough the Flash doesnât feel the same call!
They return before Kal-L can run to the void, and everyone reaches the same conclusion: there is only one universe now, but obviously elements of the old realities are different from the new realityâŚand some elements never existed!
While the four contact as many heroes as they can find to discuss the ramifications, we switch to deep space. Rip Hunterâs time sphere (carrying Hunter, Adam Strange, Captain Comet, Dolphin, Atomic Knight, and Animal Man) encounter Brainiacâs ship adrift.
They board to investigate and discover the corpse (if a robot can have a corpse) of Brainiac.
Back on Earth, many of the heroes have gathered at Titanâs Tower, where theyâre all checking each othersâ math to make sure everyone has put two and two together. Huntress and Earth-2â˛s Robin explain that they, like Kal-L, donât exist in this ânew Earthâ. Superboy-Prime is shocked when he finds out his Earth never existed either (thatâs what happens when your universe was written in just so it could become a victim. Just ask Lady Quark)
Suddenly, Harbinger appears (having somehow regained her powers due to the new reality) and confirms this fact, and explains that some elements of each individual earthsâ histories no longer existed (though reality seems to have conformed around Earth-1 primarily. I guess DC would have lost a lot of readers if it conformed around Earth-X), meaning only the modern versions of the âduplicateâ heroes (like Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman) are part of this new reality, while heroes that share a name, but not a past (like Flash, Green Lantern, and Atom) exist alongside their younger counterparts.Â
Kal-L flips out at this news, as it means that he will never see his wife Lois again.
As Kal-L flies off in a streak of self-pity, we switch to the Spirit Realm, where the Spectre lies unconscious, severely weakened by his battle with the Anti-Monitor (Iâm sure this will be important later)
Back on Earth, the heroes continue to compare notes. It seems the villains donât remember the multiverse (since they werenât at the Dawn of Time), but it seems that Power Girl (Kal-Lâs cousin) is remembered. No one is sure how that works.
Suddenly, the weather turns ugly, just as it did when a universe was about toâ
Uh-ohâŚ
Earth has been pulled into the Anti-Matter universe!

Huntikmas day 3- What TCG titans I'd give to the team.
Okay so I had planned this one for today, and last night I was looking forward to getting my folder out in the morning to go through and take photos, and then this morning something wild happened. So I've been opening a pack of SaS tcg everyday of these 24 days and when I opened the pack this morning I pulled the one card I've been missing for years! Literally on the morning I was going through my card collection anyway and only on day three; so anyways that's a fun side track and I have now officially completed all three of the card series (pretending promos aren't a thing for now) which I'm buzzing about. Anyways back to day three, here are titans that are relatively unique to the tcg that I think the Huntik team should have. There are many but these are the ones I've refined down because I can actually explain them semi-coherently.
Sophie:
Battlemaster, apart from the whole 'warlord' connotations I liked this titan for Sophie because although it's a basically a tank, it gives me the vibe of a chess board and strategy based on its defence being better than attack. So it's a bit different from Sophie's other titans but I think that the whole stepping up as head of the Casterwill family thing and her intelligence makes Battlemaster a good fit for her in the long run.
(Fun fact back in the old days when I used to write fanfiction, I had one called 'there should be a titan' and Battlemaster was the response to Den wanting a tank for a titan)
Den:
Okay so I was really unsure about Kallipolitan for Den but what sells me is the 'judge and jury' subtitle. One of the things that's brought up in the beginning of Den's character is being heroic and standing up for others. I think justice is important to Den but he also recognises that the world isn't categorised into good and evil, like his brother doing bad things because he's misguided. Based on the quote 'people listen' and the number of judge and jury villain tropes we get in the media, I think Den would be in a unique position where he can consider all the facts and not misuse Kallipolitans abilities like others might.
Lok:
Okay so one of my weird special interests is werewolf mythology in Scotland and Ireland. In Ireland, there's a couple of werewolf like concepts such as the Faoladh and the werewolves of Ossory. Basically, in most stories, werewolves play the role of protectors of villages, kingdoms etc. Given this is a noble werewolf I believe that the Irish mythology inspired Wolf Knight and that's why Lok gets one. Not only is it a tribute to his heritage, Lok wants to protect and help others and on the occasions he's been uncontrollably angry, this has been what's stopped him from going too far.
Dante:
I could not decide for Dante so here's my justifications for both.
Sunhawk is obviously a bird and from the looks of it has many of the same qualities Solwing had. However, Sunhawk is a Meso titan more like Caliban and overall seems less chill than Solwing. Dante could never replace Solwing, but I think Sunhawk would be a good addition to fill the void Solwing's left and help Dante move on without trying to replace a titan that had a lot of emotional value to him.
Alternatively, the Riderless Chariot. The subtitle 'unstoppable force' is very much a description of Dante throughout the series, both in his fighting style, his drive, and apparently even in death. I think Dante and Lok are the archetypes for heroes in the show but Dante has all the classic traits such as his sacrifice and his flaws when it comes to people he cares about (trying to save Metz, and realistically probably ignored a lot of red flags from Zhalia because he wanted to believe in her). So this would probably make Dante the ideal seeker for the titan based on its past owners.
Either would work well for Dante but for different reasons.
Zhalia:
Right yes, Derenzar is a lizard, that's point one. In the tcg Zhalia has Mucalin so I didn't want to give her a titan she technically already has. First of all, the Draco titan like Kilthane, and then the spot patterns and the aura coming off it puts me in mind of poisonous lizards and spells. Zhalia uses spells like Venomhand a lot in the show and that's probably something she picked up from the depths of Vienna so I'd like to see more of their venomous and acidic approach in some of her titans. Similar to Gareon, I suspect the sticky pads of this titan allow it to cling to walls and possibly even hover occasionally, but rather than being a scout, I reckon this titan is more of a hide in the shadows and sneak attack... kind of like Zhalia. Sophie's quote at the bottom also suggests that Derenzar is very willed and follows its own mind, like Zhalia does so this pairing would be an ideal match.
Harrison:
Okay so fire and chaos is very Blood Spiral. I think in this case, Furoji would take a while for Harrison to master but the titan would see Harrisons potential and bind anyway. I feel like this would help Harrison learn that chaos can bring more than destruction and help him master his emotions and bring clarity to him over a long period of time.
Cherit:
Right I don't know what the logistics of titans having titans is but a moment of respect for Cherit being shot like a canonball at the professor.

love and it's sacrifices
synopsis: love makes you and xiao naive and selfish.
warnings: mc death, description of pain, angst with no comfort
character: xiao
notes: i edited this really late and i can't say it's any good but i hope ppl enjoy anyways
ââââââââââââââââ
"you're so silly," your arms wrapped around his slender neck, a smile dancing on your lips as you littered his neck with loving kisses. "i love you too much to let something like that deter me." you rest your head on his shoulder as you spoke.
the sun shone on your glistening skin, warm to the touch. it felt nice- all of this- being in xiao's arms, the wind playing around the two of you as you stood atop one of liyue's mountains. you had begged the adeptus to set aside his duties for once and indulge you in a nice picnic after hearing that he hadn't had one in almost 500 years. you couldn't let an opportunity to bask in the sun with him go. yet, as you were enjoying this moment, something was weighing on xiaos mind,
"you shouldn't be so naive. i've told you countless times that i have karmic debt. its dangerous. im dangerous." his words were softly muttered into the crown of your hair, he sighed, taking in your sacchrine vanilla scent. "...i don't want to hurt you." he moved long strokes against your back, relishing in the comfort you brought him. you felt so soft compared to him and he felt as you were so fragile he would break you.
"xiao, even if i loose my sight, or my lungs shrivel up and i can't breathe anymore. i'll still be by your side and love you all the same. it just makes my life all the more worth it."
he knew how stubborn you were and that no matter how much he wanted you to change your mind, you wouldn't. maybe he could be selfish just this once and bring you with him into his melancholy reality rust was his immortal life. he had a slimmer of hope that you could break his curse and maybe you'd be that one person who would stay by his side.
how naive he was.
one chilling night, xiao was out fufling his duties - and he had left you home alone. when he was gone, you would take short walks around the inn, the serenity of the flowing water and bright laterns gave you a relaxing feeling, which was something you seldom felt these days. night were longer and days were shorter with your chest constantly growing heavier with each breathe and every step you take more painful than the other. you never thought your adeptus boyfriend's debt to be real until you'd spend lonely nights sobbing at how your body burned, after having kept a facade all day to xiao that you were okay. that he wasn't slowly killing you every time he was near you.
you resented him, but you mostly resented yourself for lying to him. telling xiao you were okay when you were fucking not.
"hah-ha" your chest stung as you gripped at it as you were huddled over on the ground ears ringing your head being tugged and pulled by the horrid sensation. a dark swirl of green had surround you, enveloping you in a suffocating anguish. 'xiao' his name rolled of your tongue like a silent plea that you incoherently babble over and over, but your begs turned into whistles in the air. just when the pain began, it was over.
xiao had found you, passed out on the wood flooring the next morning, his eye wide and brows kneaded with concern. you'd simply told him that the wood was seemingly comfortable that night, he'd shrugged it off as 'weird human behavior'. you never told him what happened that night, leaving it as a bitter memory that'd bring you to tears on your pillow in the night.
since then, days begun to feel longer; the sun lost its shine and the moon seemed to mock you high up in the sky. you'd give it a longing look at the wee hours of the night, pondering endlessly.
was it worth it? the question would come up every now and then.
of course it was, you respond.
your stomach churn and grind, your legs turn into lead as you plummeted onto jagged ground, the grass cradling your abused body. eyes bleary as you hyperventilated. you said- no- screamed his name with winded breath. uncontrollable sobs falling from you. your body burned with a gnawing feeling, like your whole body was being spilt and torn in half. the draft of air became all too familar, that suffocating feeling returned, you felt the weight of all of your sins crawl through you. not only yours, but his. his karmic debt that you oh so tried to deny that was real. yet, every waking day when a sense of yours slowly deplted, your eyes sight worsening and blurrying, your hearing weakened and smells that you once loved had nothing but an empty sense of joy, inside you knew, that it was his karma affeccting you. you had turned into a product of his sins, he'd never be able to truly love someone, and you were so foolish to think you could defy the law of the adepti. that the rule didn't apply to you,.
you were naive just as he said, and you'd pay for your ignorance.
"no-no...please" xiao stumbled over to your mutturing and confused body. his knees scraping against the terrain as he pulled your body to his. you clutched to his shirt, shouting into his chest. he cupped your face, searching all over at your tormented expression. your face was red, stress lines scattered as you babbled and scream into him.
your cries became louder, the pain you felt was something no human should ever experience, and in his attempt to console you and save you. his presence made the air thicker, your lungs completely overtaken by his dark energy. you clawed at his shirt, practically ripping it open. you wanted to thrash at him, blame him for what he had done to you. he couldn't understand the horrendous feeling it was what he was causing.
"yn..." he spat your name out like venom, his cheeks red with anger and eyes full of tears. "why didn't you listen to me?" he shrieked, his fists balled up to your collar as he curled over your weakened corpse. he watched as the color left your skin that once glistened in the sun, your eyes soulless as m tears that had flown down your checks were dry. the yakshas's yells turned into quiet sobs, as he slowly realized what he has caused. darkness devoured him whole, eating at his heart and his mind. his light faded in his arms, it was then he became a husk of a man with no drive left in him. his motivation and ambition, his love and reason for living died in his arms.
he was left alone again in the world with only his debt to console him.
