Why Is Fish Roe Pickle Our Best Seller?
Tumblr media
In the colourful tapestry of Parsi cuisine, Garab nu Achar stands out as a delectable masterpiece. This authentic Parsi pickle, also known as fish roe pickle or Garab nu achar, boasts a rich history and a unique preparation method that elevates it to a culinary delight. Join us on a journey through this cherished Parsi delicacy’s origins, ingredients, and flavours.
The Rich History of Garab nu Achar:
Garab nu Achar traces its roots back to the vibrant Parsi community, who migrated to India from Persia centuries ago. “Garab” refers to fish roe, while “Achar” denotes pickle. This delicacy has been passed down through generations, preserving its traditional essence. The pickling process was initially a means of preserving fish roe, ensuring that this culinary gem could be enjoyed throughout the year.
Ingredients and Preparation:
The star ingredient of Garab nu Achar is, of course, the fish roe. The roe of various fish varieties is commonly utilized, adding a unique flavour and texture to the dish. The roe is meticulously cleaned, mixed with a blend of aromatic spices, and left to marinate in a secret concoction that varies from one family recipe to another.
Common spices include mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, asafoetida, turmeric, and red chilli powder. The mixture is then gently cooked in mustard oil, allowing the spices to infuse the roe with their flavorful magic. The result is a tantalising blend of savoury, spicy, and tangy notes that make this Fish Pickle a true sensory delight.
Pair with all-time favourite dishes:
Garab nu Achar is a versatile accompaniment that can elevate a variety of dishes. Its robust flavours complement traditional Parsi dishes like Dhansak and Patra ni Machhi exceptionally well. Additionally, you can consider spreading it on crisp rotis/toasted bread or enjoy it alongside a plate of fluffy rice to savour the unique taste that only this pickle can offer.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, Garab nu Achar is not just a pickle; it’s a culinary journey that passes through the rich history and cultural heritage of the Parsi community. The meticulous preparation and authentic flavours make it a treasure trove for food enthusiasts seeking an immersive experience.
Luckily, in this age of globalization, The Parsi Store brings this delicacy to your doorstep, allowing you to indulge in the authentic flavours of Garab nu Achar throughout its season. So, go ahead, explore the magic of this Parsi fish roe pickle, and let your taste buds revel in the centuries-old tradition that continues to tantalize palates worldwide.

Summer Staples: Readymade Silk Cotton & Crepe Silk Sarees for the Warmer Months
As the sun rises higher and the days become hotter, we naturally go for lighter and cooler fabrics when choosing our clothing. Silk cotton materials should have a notable place in your summer wardrobe if you appreciate natural fibers and easy style.
Tumblr media
The Silk Cotton's Attraction
Silk cotton combines the smooth elegance of silk with the airy cosiness of cotton, creating a luxurious fabric option. This blend results in a material that is extremely soft and gentle on the skin while also providing great air circulation, keeping you cool in the warmest months.
Exploring the Range of Silk Cotton Materials Beyond the Saree
While silk cotton sarees are a classic essential for summer, there are many more ways to style them beyond the traditional draping. This flexible substance can be utilised to make a variety of clothing items, ideal for staying cool with flair.
Choose airy kurtis made from silk cotton for a stylish and comfortable daytime outfit. Match them with airy palazzos or denim for a stylish and easy outfit.
Embrace the feminine essence of summer with airy dresses crafted from silk cotton. The fabric's inherent drape forms a flattering shape, while its breathability ensures you stay cool and comfortable.
Soft, comfortable shirts and tops made of silk cotton are great choices for your summer outfit. They provide a hint of elegance compared to typical cotton, yet stay cool and breathable all day long.
Readymade Elegance: Crepe Silk Sarees for Summer
When it comes to beautiful simplicity, make sure to check out our range of crepe silk sarees. The distinct wrinkled appearance of crepe silk differentiates it from other fabrics, providing a visual element of interest. This small detail results in an elegant drape, making sure the saree elegantly drapes around your body.
Crepe silk sarees are not just beautiful in their look, but also extremely comfortable to wear during the summer. The airy fabric promotes great airflow, ensuring you stay cool and comfy even in extreme heat. Discover a wide variety of colors and patterns, or choose classic styles in subtle shades. Think about adding a touch of tradition to your summer wardrobe with sarees that showcase beautiful Parsi work embroidery, which will surely spark interesting conversations.
Caring for Your Silk Cotton & Crepe Silk Garments
While silk cotton is a relatively low-maintenance fabric, proper care ensures its longevity and keeps it looking its best.
Here are some quick tips:
Gentle Hand Wash: Opt for hand washing with a mild detergent suitable for delicate fabrics. Avoid harsh chemicals and bleach.
Air Dry is the Best: Skip the dryer and hang your silk cotton clothes to air dry in a shade-covered area.
Iron with Extra Care: Use a cool iron setting and always iron on the reverse side of the fabric.
Do Not Do These Things:
Avoid Harsh Scrubs and Wringing: The delicate nature of these fabrics can be damaged by rough handling. Gently squeeze out excess water after washing.
Direct Sunlight: Extended exposure to direct sunlight can cause the colours to fade a bit. Dry your garments and sarees in a shaded area.
Hot Iron: High heat settings can damage the fibres. Always use a cool iron setting.
Overstuffing Closets: Crepe silk sarees, in particular, can wrinkle easily. Store them carefully in breathable fabric bags or on hangers with ample space.

Till time ends itself
Part 5, book 1
6 mouths after wedding...
You and Steve have been together for 5 months, tomorrow is your anniversary, he has something special planned for the two you. You were sitting in your old apartment packing up boxes while Steve carried them to the moving truck. Steve and you were moving into together nothing in the world could ruin what the two of you had. Except that one person who You refused to think about, bucky.
It was something else head over heels for eachother in every way humanly possible, bucky and nat were no longer in touch. You and Steve tried to reach out but they had cut you guys off, and didnt even say why. It hurt you guys more then ever, the two people who have always been there just uped and left. But at least you had one other.
Somedays you woke up and thanked the universe, thanked whatever god was out there that he was gone. But some nights you thought about what you would do if he walked in right now. How all the bad feelings, things he's gone, and love for steve would be thrown out the nearest window. You didnt want to love bucky you actually hated yourself for it. you knew that you and Steve belonged together tou had to belong to steve, because if you didnt belong to him, nor bucky then you didnt belong to anyone.
No matter how far past you are from bucky, you are hopelessly brought back to him. Steve was the person your head was telling you to be with but bucky was the person your heart wanted, and sadly nothing could change that. Not a million roses, not a diamond ring, or a big fancy house, not even the most perfect man who was madly in love with you.
You thought one day you would forget, that the feelings would die on their own. That you could just let go of the of the love of your life. You took these unsaid feelings and bumped them into your book, your were almost done with it. You wrote about bucky and steve of crouse no one knew that all the love and heart break poem's were about them. You thought at least I'm putting it some were even if itsnt the right place.
Because if you did put your feelings and unsaid words in the right place you would have told bucky how endlessly In love with him you were. You would have told steve that he was amazing but he was not the person you needed, things would have ended the way you wanted. But at least you put them some where right? Even if it is the wrong place. Not bottle them up like you always do till they over flow and crash down on your life.
"Steve honey, we need more bubble wrap I'm gonna head out to the hardware store." You said as you walked up and kissed his cheek, steve wrapped his arms around your waist and pulled you into him. He lifted you up and you wrapped your legs around him. "You know what we haven't done yet?" Steve asked as you raised a playful brow.
"What?" You asked as he squeezed your ass, you yelped out and he began to kiss your neck. You became breathless, you and steve have been going at it like rabbits. Everywhere anytime the two of you didnt care, "in a moving truck, we've had sex in so many places but not in one of theses." He said inbetween kisses. "Ya know y/n it's been on my bucket list for awhile now"
You chuckled "is that so?" You teased. He walked you in to the huge truck and laid you on the couch that was in the back packed away. You and him took off your clothes in lightning speed you now sat on Steve's lap his hard massive cook poking up. You grabbed it and he groaded through gritted teeth. You pumped him a few times then lined him up to your hole and lowered yourself on. Your were both moaning out as his dick now sat buried inside you.
You moved your hips in circleler motions, his dick twitched in you was you rode him. "Oh fuck kitten, your doing so good for daddy" he groaded out, he took you left boob and sucked on it as you quickened your pace. "Ohhhhh steve!" You moaned as you came hard on his cock. "good girl cumming on my cock, such a pretty girl" he parsied as he shoot his thick white ropes of cum in your pussy.
His dick thrashing around in you as you rode him through his orgasm. "Fuck your so beautiful y/n, I love you so much" you laid your head on his shoulder as he rubbed your back "I love you too handsome" you said as he pecked his lips. You hopped off him and the two of you put your clothes back on. You kissed him good bye and made your way to the hardware store.

(ID: A black & white picture of Freddie Mercury with one of his cats, Tiffany)
Freddie Mercury (5 September 1946 - 24 November 1991) is one of the most prominent names in the history of rock music. He was the lead vocalist of British rock band Queen (1970 - present), and wrote some of their most well-known songs. Famous for his extravagant stage presence and four-octave vocal range,  Freddie deviated from the stereotypical hypermasculine lady-killer frontman persona, and thus lead to Queen differing greatly from other rock bands. His artistic nature influenced the band’s music, especially their first two albums, which included tracks such as My Fairy King and The Fairy Feller’s Master-Stroke.
Freddie was born Farrokh Bulsara in Zanzibar (now a part of Tazmania) to Parsi-Indian parents, and fled to the UK in 1964 at the age of 18, during the Zanzibar Revolution. He studied graphic art and design in university and got his diploma from Ealing Art College in 1969. After graduation, he worked at a second-hand clothes store with Roger Taylor, who was the drummer for Smile at the time. Freddie joined many different bands that didn’t take off, but in 1970 he became the lead vocalist for Smile who were short of a singer and a bassist, after frontman Tim Staffel quit. He, along with Brian May and Roger Taylor, worked with a number of bassists until the summer of 1971, when John Deacon became their fourth and final member. They soon rebranded to Queen, in spite of the complaints of their management.
After their rise to fame, Queen quickly became known for their unique sound and flamboyant live appearances. Freddie’s ability to entertain and interact with the crowd is almost as breathtaking as his powerful vocals and incredible songwriting capabilities. Their concerts were really quite a sight to behold.
However, aside from his extraordinary musical capabilities, Freddie Mercury was also a kind and compassionate soul, with a great love for cats. Despite his extravagant stage persona, he described himself as an introvert. He did his best to show his love and appreciation to those closest to him. He kept his personal life private and, in fact, only revealed that he was suffering from AIDS on the 23rd of November 1991, less than a day before his untimely death at the age of 45.
Although I greatly admire his music career, it’s his individuality that draws me to him. Freddie was not afraid to be himself or to voice his opinions. He always took care of his friends and family, be it biological or chosen. He managed to become a world-renown rock singer, songwriter, and entertainer, all while maintaining his personality and his kind disposition.
He inspires me to be myself everyday, boldly and unashamedly, and to not let others’ opinions of me affect how I live my life. He motivates me to live and to love, and to love my life, to sing, for myself, for others, and for no one at all. He has shown me that being different isn’t something to be ashamed of, rather something to embrace and be proud of.

The Month of June
The month of June is coming to an end and with it the sporadic pride sales. While some of them were creative, like a certain rainbow swirled themed pair of high tops from a certain shoe store on Broadway, others missed the mark. One store promoted shirts that didn’t even bother with the pride colors and looked like an elementary school kid designed them. Another retailer, which acts as more of a home goods and grocery store than anything else tried their hand at a romper covered in rainbow themed stickers and pride themed graphics.
These things aren’t bad as each individual person has their own style when it comes to the clothes they choose to wear. Would I personally buy a grey polo with a hidden rainbow under the collar? Maybe. Not likely, but if I were to say wanting to show my pride while having brunch on the corner of 57th and 7th Ave without going over-the-top then yea. I did however buy a black jersey with rainbow decal on the sleeves and the word “Daddy” plastered across the front from Spencer’s because why not.
I had just received my first dose of the Moderna vaccine, and I tend to shop whenever I get nervous, overwhelmed, or end up just having a very bad day. It was an easy purchase, and I have worn it out since. There is one thing on my mind however as the month comes to an end; what’s going to happen as the year progresses?
All of the stores will obviously go back to their regular scheduled programming and the stickers on the windows and displays will come down. They would’ve gotten their stock bump and a slight increase in revenue for the month of June, but what about us? Year after year it’s the same thing. Store’s across the world drown themselves in pride décor for the entire month alluding to their supposed ally ship, but when it comes down to it, they’re really just trying to make a quick buck.
Of course you have those that always donate like Banana Republic, The Gap, Target, and Adidas, but what about the rest. They market to our community for an entire month, but once that’s over we’re kicked to the curb like a pair of last season’s Jimmy Choo’s. We’re no longer the control group. They did their performative act, and for better or worse, usually the latter, it always seems to work.
Because of this I began to wonder why, and quite simply it’s because we want something that reflects who we are. We want to see ourselves in everyday life through the clothing we choose to buy to what we see in commercials and as characters on tv. For so long we’ve been told to not be who we are; that it’s unnatural and an abomination, so to see ourselves reflected back at us is refreshing. But the stores need to do better.
Now, we wouldn’t be where we are today without the likes of Marsha P. Jonson, Sylvia Rivera, Harvey Milk, Audre Lorde, Bayard Rustin, and Christine Jorgensen; as well as those of today: Laverne Cox, Alexya Salvado, Arsham Parsi, or Urvashi Vaid. They have all fought for the community and there are always going to be those that fight for the collective, but we as a whole need to do more. Yes, we go to the marches and yes, we sign the petitions, but for those of us that would rather watch than be involved, we need to do better.
We need to do better for our brothers and sisters that continue to fight for basic human rights. Research where you live and what politicians actually stand for what you believe in, not just the “Pride Month Window Display” ones. Figure out how you can get involved with your community whether it be your school’s GSA or a small group on the town council. Yes, depending on your area, it will be more difficult and scary like that of a young gay boy in a small town in South Georgia, but do what you can. Donate to certain groups like The Trevor Project or GLAAD.
Do what you can when you can because this is your community. Stay strong and resilient. Be brave and unrelenting. Do what feels right for you. Also, somewhat off-but-on topic, if you’re not ready yet, that’s okay too. Do what you can when you can, and just know that there is a whole family waiting for you whenever you choose. Happy Pride.

The Art Of Pickling: A Look At Parsi Pickle Varieties
Tumblr media
I bet you did know that the largest pickle jar measures 1.5 m in height (4 ft 11 in) and 1.1 m in diameter (3 ft 7 in), accomplished by the Municipality of Çubuk (Turkey) on 13 September 2018. This is as per The Guinness World Record. Pickling is a heritage art that has been preserving the goodness of fruits and vegetables. Pickles are those alluring tangy treats that add extra flour to any meal you are having. You can savour them with a burger or as a side dish or munch directly from the jar. Pickles are mainly fruits or vegetables that are preserved in vinegar, salt water, or any other acidic liquid added with spices and flavouring. Pickles are characterized as sometimes tangy, spicy, and even sweet. Among all the pickles from around the globe, Parsi pickles have a special place because of their rich tradition and the way they blend different culinary influences. In this blog, we are going to learn about pickles and the different types of pickles prepared in the Parsi culture.
The Story of Our Antique Pickles
Pickles were first introduced by the historic civilization of Mesopotamia where people were served cucumbers preserved in saltwater or as they used to call it Brine. Thousands of years ago the main reason for pickling was to store food for a long duration of time before refrigerators were invented. Parsi pickles go way back to when the Zoroastrian community migrated from Persia and settled in India and the Parsi taste met the authentic Indian spices and cuisine. These pickles started becoming an inseparable addition to the Parsi households as they started having them with rice curries and every other dish. These pickles then started captivating attention all over India as they used to be served and sold at Parsi-owned restaurants and shops. Parsi Pickles personifies a cultural bridge depicting the way culinary traditions can blend over time and borders. From Persia to India these recipes have adapted and absorbed diverse culinary influences making them a unique blend and one-of-a-kind pickles.
Trends in Pickling: A Modern Reincarnation of Tradition
In recent years, Parsi pickles have experienced a revival, reflecting broader trends in the culinary world. The renewed interest in pickling aligns with the sustainable living movement and the endeavours to reduce food waste. Parsi pickles epitomize the very essence of making the most out of seasonal bounties and prolonging their deliciousness.
Diversity of Parsi Pickles
1. Mangoes
Varieties: Achaar, Ambli, Keri no Murabbo, chunda.
Mangoes are a favourite fruit for pickling, and in the Parsi tradition, they are transformed into various forms, such as traditional mango pickles, a sweet and tangy preserve (Ambli), and a spiced mango murabba (Keri no Murabbo).
2. Lemons
Varieties: Limbu nu Achaar, Lemon Pickle, limbu khajur
Lemons are used to creating Limbu nu Achaar, a zesty and tangy pickle that adds a burst of flavour to various dishes. Additionally, there’s a specific Lemon Pickle variety that showcases the bright, citrusy taste of lemons.
3. Fish
Varieties: Gharab Nu Achar, Bumbla Nu Tarapori Patiyo.
Fish is an integral part of Parsi cuisine, and these 2 fish pickles are very tasty and an amazing flavour to food for non-vegetarians.
4. Prawns
Variety: Kolmi no Patio.
Prawns are used to make Kolmi no Patio, a delicious and tangy prawn pickle that combines the unique taste of prawns with Parsi spices.
5. Carrots
Variety: Gajar ka Achaar, lagan nu achar.
Carrots are turned into Gajar no Achaar, a delightful pickle that combines the earthy sweetness of carrots with savoury spices.
6. Dates
Variety: Khajoor no Achhar, Limbu khajur achar.
Dates are transformed into Khajoor no Achhar, a sweet and slightly spicy pickle that marries the natural sweetness of dates with aromatic spices.

Business Operations
A very close competitor of mine is bundling Bhakra at a price of 6 Bhakras for $6, which offers little to no incentive for the customer to purchase a larger quantity. I will be using the Penetration Pricing strategy and offer that same bundle of 6 Bhakras for $5 instead, so that the customer has an incentive to order a larger quantity and I can gain a larger market share. My cost of goods sold for Bhakra is very low, especially if I purchase my ingredients in bulk from Costco, so offering that bundle at $5 will easily still allow me to have a profit margin of over 30% which is very good in the restaurant/food industry.
I will be using the Penetration Pricing strategy because the more customers that purchase my product in the niche Parsi community, the easier it will be for my store to gain a reputation through Word of Mouth.
The cost of the ingredients to bake 75 Bhakra is approximately $16, which is very inexpensive. The electricity cost for my oven to bake the Bhakra is very low at $0.25 to $0.5 for a large batch. The gas cost to deliver to most areas within the Peel Region will be anywhere from $1-$5, especially with my Toyota sedan that is very fuel efficient. If the customer chooses to pick-up from my house, my profit margin will be even higher due to having zero delivery cost.
The Parsi/Zoroastrian community, and there are not many people in the GTA who know how to cook this item due to the Parsi/Zoroastrian community being relatively small compared to most cultures. Before COVID-19, people in this community could purchase Bhakra through our community’s monthly fundraisers and celebrations, where Parsis/Zoroastrians would get together and bring items cooked from home. Now, especially due to COVID-19, the opportunity to buy this delicious cinnamon-like treat is very rare, and I am looking to dedicate most of my marketing efforts to the Parsi community because they have a very high purchase intent. This will involve connecting to Parsis through my social media pages and word of mouth from the small community.
I will need to purchase simple plastic packaging for the Bhakra, and ribbons to tie them off. I will not be needing any licenses or permits.
