So anyways this is all Emmy’s fault. Girlie just wanted her own rock band and made it everyone else’s problem. Now there’s a group of mid-twenties to forty somethings trying to relive the glory days.

And to top it all off I have a relationship sheet. Sometimes you think Desmond is baby girl, sometimes you remember that by curious village he’s a 43 year old man. Sometimes that doesn’t stop him from being babygirl. He’s like the trap of the group, where teens will see edits of him online and start stanning him. Bro doesn’t know what that means and is too scared to bother finding out. Emmy finds it hilarious.

In this au, Desmond works as a renowned archeology professor with a loving wife and a daughter under a fake identity. His relationship with his father is none-existent, having cut all contact in his teens. His brother, Theodore, was taken by child-protective services in his youth and doesn’t remember Des at all.

Emmy, is a journalist for the company, Targent. She used to travel the world in search of good stories, but recently settled down in the area to follow the story of a famous archeology professor, one Hershel Layton. She also recently connected with her cousin Desmond. He is unhappy about this.

Clive, is also a journalist for a competitor company, World Times. He and Emmy were fast friends due to their mutual love of compelling stories and teasing. They get drunk on Saturdays and complain/gossip to each other. He seems to have a vendetta against a local politician, Bill Hawks, but Emmy can’t quite pin down why.

Bloom is a local investigator on the force who keeps the police in line with Targent’s goals. He influences the top brass and the police’s young prodigy. He and Emmy see each other often during Targent briefings and are close workmates, though not entirely by his choice.

Oh yeah, so does anyone remember that one Professor Layton OC I made back during my Layton phase?

Not Eileen, I’m talking about this guy here. The character who was unnamed but was part of an idea I had for a Layton story (and also an ex of Descole’s)

Well, I actually named him ages ago, as well as gave him a bit more stuff (not a lot, just a bit), and about 2 hours ago I just randomly decided to draw/redesign him again. For no particular reason, I just did it

If I’m being honest, I don’t think the redesign turned out half bad. I didn’t do much, just changed up his hair and outfit a little, but I think it works. Ironically I was using Ace Attorney characters as more of my reference here than Layton. Maybe not the best but it works

Also I know his cane arm looks weird, but shh

I wrote most of the stuff about him up there, but his name is now Claude di Adone, for reasons I don’t remember. I do remember where Claude came from though, it was @notllorstel’s Twisted Fates AU Descole that was Layton. And also that his name was supposed to sound both vaguely French and Italian

As I recall, the hypothetical plot centers a good deal on parts of Descole’s past (though not a lot on Descole’s character development), where Layton and co come to this town where at least in public, everyone dresses similar to Descole. Not necessarily because of him, but rather because it was based on the bauta masks and the fact that apparently people in Venice once commonly wore these outfits and that sounded cool

Anyways, Claude was the one who called Layton here, as he wanted him to solve some mystery going around the town that I never really figured out, and had done so after learning of his reputation

However, there’s more to Claude as he actually once knew Desmond Sycamore when they were younger. The image says “friend” because they weren’t just friends, they were actually dating, but Claude might not make that fully known. There are hints prior to this revelation that Claude knows a bit more than he should about Layton from the papers, or at least on a level that he shouldn’t for a complete stranger, like trying to call Layton by his first name. This is because Claude has been fully aware of the Hershel twist for years as this was before Desmond got super secretive about his former life and considered Claude someone he could trust. So from Claude’s perspective he’s meeting the famed younger brother of an old friend/ex of his that he’s never fully gotten over his feelings for, and he occasionally forgets that Layton probably doesn’t know that

But not only does Claude have a past with Desmond/Descole, but Descole himself happens to be in the town as well, albeit with a bout of amnesia. Note that this is supposed to take place sometime after the prequels. Claude is well aware of this, and this is the second secret reason he called Layton, as he knows Layton has a past with both Desmond and Descole, and hopes that Layton will be able to jog his memory, especially as Claude himself has been struggling with that due to the large gap in time from when they last met

Also, there’s the matter of his cane. Originally I said that he used one due to an injury in the past, but now I’ve decided he’s just always had weak legs, and has been using a cane pretty much his whole life. His cane does still secretly have a sword though

Claude is a nice guy, and can be rather generous, such as letting Layton and his friends stay in his house for their time here, since he’s rich with a big house and lives alone aside from some servants, so there’s plenty of room, and he does ultimately have good intentions, but he can also be shady as fuck sometimes and you probably don’t know him as well as you think

Here's an AU that probably won't go anywhere (Spoilers for Azran Legacy):

When the Bronev parents were kidnapped by Targent, Rachel was currently pregnant with her third child. She wasn't given all the resources she needed to ease her through her pregnancy, and as a result she died not long after her childbirth.

At first, the leader of Targent would not allow Leon to keep the baby. He thought that she would be a waste of time and resources and that it would be better if she was given away or killed. Leon, who had lost his two sons and didn't want to lose his newborn daughter, refused. He eventually convinced the leader to let him keep her as long as he raised her to do useful things for Targent in the future.

Giving her the name Linden, Leon worked tirelessly to keep the little girl alive. As soon as she was old enough, she was made to work for Targent. She was taught how to use a gun and to research the Azran. When Leon eventually became the leader, Linden was immediately appointed as his right hand.

Linden was raised in and around Targent ideologies, and as a result she grew to be as cold and calculating as her father. Leon never told her about Hershel and Theodore, and so she never knew about the existence of her two older brothers.

Time passed, and Leon was trying to get Desmond to join Targent. Linden was beside Leon throughout the whole ordeal, and that was how she knew that Desmond was her brother. She was upset at Leon for not telling her about him, but she didn't voice her concerns. He probably had good reasons for keeping her in the dark. (She didn't know about Hershel yet)

As we all know, Desmond refused to join Leon. As a result, Leon sent his men to go bring him in by force. After a few days, they heard the news that things didn't go as planned. Desmond, his wife, and his daughter tried to escape, but that only caused his wife and child to be shot. Desmond managed to escape, but he lost everything he ever loved.

Linden didn't know how to feel about this. It felt wrong to threaten her own brother like this - to kill his entire family. But it was Desmond's own fault for not joining them, right? Her father knew what he was doing, right?

More time passed and we're currently in the Azran Legacy timeline. Whenever Leon shows up, Linden is always by his side. The story is relatively the same as the original, but with Linden slowly realizing the truth about her family and how her father may not be that all-knowing leader she thought he was.

This is the general gist of it, but I might add a few things to the story when I think of more things. Her relationship with Emmy could be one of the reasons that Emmy joins Targent. I also think there should be a part where Linden is finally convinced to break away from Leon and help her two brothers during the finale.

Anyway, I hope you found it interesting!

So The pokèmon au!!

It’s set in the Galar region but also across other regions too!

Professor Hershel Layton is a Professor of Archeology in Motostoke (Ground/Rock) who studies with Professor Maggie Evermore about the legendaries and how the fossils of pokèmon can help them find more about the past of Unova and other regions.

Luke Triton originally born in Wyndon but now lives with his parent’s in Ballonlea (he’s about 19 in this and is a water/Normal type trainer) Laytons former apprentice follows his own path studying the bond between a pokèmon and trainer by travelling across regions to see how the connection differs in each region.

Lastly Emmy Altava former adventurer now part time photographer in Chirchester, (electric/fighting type trainer) who is investigating the mystery’s of the legendary pokèmon darkarai and cresselia and how they can cause both chaos and destruction for the pokèmon world.

The three are brought back together to solve the mystery of the azaran legacy, and maybe stop a dormant pokèmon from waking up and causing a shit ton of problems for the world.

They meet Desmond Sycamore a (dark/ice type ) professor in Hammerlock who finds a girl frozen in ice with only memories of loosing her pokèmon who is yearning to find it and bring it home.

Which has lead him to think that she knows more about the legendary pokèmon that lays underneath the highest mountain in galar.

He decides that he should take her along with the gang to the small town of Misthaven where the elders know more about the legends.

The gang have to find the many keys that will unlock the history of the Azaran before it is to late and the apocalypse is brought to the world.

And that is how the story begins.

Some little headcannons/backstory for this au

Flora is Fairy/steel and at 18 has become one of the most talented mechanics in postwick.

She can build almost anything from robots to full on machines.

Flora was originally from Hammerlock but moved after a terrible thing that happened there.

Luke is from Wyndon in this and grew up with Ariana (ghost type trainer) and the two of them have a healthy rivalry.

She is actually set to become the next ghost gym leader after her father retires.

Claire is Steel/Dragon/psychic and is currently working on her latest project that can help hershel and the gang

She is also juggling wedding planning on the side with Angela (fire) and Randal (ground/dragon)

Anton (ghost/poison ) is one of the last remaining dukes of Galar and his family the herzen’s are the keepers of a very important keys.

Sophia (fairy/ice) lives with their daughter Iris (Ice/poison) hiding the second key in the necklace anton gave her as a symbol of their love.

She ran away from Folsense or Ballonlea just like the game but remains alive (she’s about late 30s early 40s in this)

The Pandora’s box stayed with Anton.

Desmond in this au has a wife she’s alive along with their daughter. The two of them live in wedgehurst.

He doesn’t actually know this due to him thinking that they both died in a tragic accident to do with the Azaran a few years prior in Hammerlock.

Their names are Erica (flying/water) and Nessie (Flying) or ness for short.

Erica is a teacher/mechanic who is hell bent on not talking about the Azaran and what she knows and what it did to her.

Rachel (steel/grass) and Leon (fire/dark) have a extremely tense relationship in this due to Targent and opposing ideals.

But the both love each other very very much and one day want their sons to be reunited with them again.

Janice (normal/fairy) and Malina (ghost/dragon) are in this (I WILL MAKE THEM FIT) they know something about the Azaran but not that much

The two of them actually run a little opera together and tell the tales of the legends

Maggie is actually Sonia’s great great great grandma (she’s actually one of my oc’s for my pokèmon au called order of jirachi) she’s an electric type professor.

She’s one of those who knows a lot more then she lets on about the Azaran, and she tries to hide it because of the repercussions it could cause.

Basically everyone is linked to the Azaran for some reason I don’t know why but I wanted to see how I could connect and weave stories from characters that had never met or weren’t explored!

the Tyrant-Veronica Virus was created by a young Alexia Ashford, granddaughter of one of the original founders of Umbrella. The Ashfords were a noble family praised for its talented members- one such relative being Veronica Ashford, known for both beauty and brains. Then here comes THIS BITCH Alexander Ashford, son of Edward Ashford and an absolute whore. unable to bear children or keep a good highranking position in Umbrella after his fathers death he decides that the normal thing to do was to make clone babies of his ancestor Veronica and hope to god that they become as smart as she was because hes a weirdo and a freak. This gave us the Ashford twins, Alexia and Alfred. Alexia was the brightest of the two, so smart that she somehow became head researcher at the age of ten ? ? ? take ur daughter to work day got fuckin intense ig. she became obsessed with insects (twinning!) and made a virus based off of ant hiveminds and the superior intellect of her predecessors (oh okay). Alexia and Alexander poured their all into using this Virus to create the perfect specimen- until Alfred and Alexia discover their dads weird clone baby plan and the fact that Alfred was a mistake so thats why he was kinda dumb to which they said "okay! so lets just go over there and beat the Shit out of our dad". But instead they infect him with the virus and send his mangled corpse to antarctica where it becomes a hideous monster Diversity Win ! tl;dr T-Veronica is a virus that when infected with the RIGHT person at a SLOW AND STEADY PACE it will offer the victim pyrokinesis through spontaneously combusting blood and a hardened exo-skeleton ALSO A COOL BUG FACE YIPPEEE !!!!!!!!!! there are themes of plants, bugs, fire, hivemind, and royalty when it comes to both this virus and the game itself.

so what the fuck does this have to do with desmond ?

Desmond Sycamore is a man driven by spite and vengeance towards his father and Targent itself for ruining his life. From childhood to his lost family, Desmond had lost so many to Targent and its pursuit for the Azran legacies, causing him to take up the Jean Descole persona and dedicate everything into capturing the legacies first.

He matches the Ashford's theme of inner family turmoils, the cost of the pursuit of knowledge, and vengeance. Desmond can also be associated with the aformentioned "natural" motifs of T-Veronica due to his interest in archaeology and, of course, the Azran Legacies that have controlled his life since The Incident(tm).

When it comes to Desmond interacting with the Virus itself, it'll probably be another incident where he'll try to secure it before anyone else to get their hands on the samples. Maybe his own hubris will lead him to believe that he could handle the mutation, maybe he was forced to by Targent themselves, who knows i might turn this into a fucking AU again god. damnit

I can see him as another Albert Wesker situation where he can KIND OF control the virus inside of him, but through suppressants of course. Without it the mutation will just go haywire and he'll loose control- which would be a REALLY COOL contrast to Hershel's own G-Virus infection but i aint got time to get into THAT (someone please ask me about hershel's infection plsp lsp ls pslspl PLEASE)

1. From one to five stars, how would you rate your writing? (No downplaying yourself!)

well if no downplaying’s allowed i guess i’d give it a 3/5? some mistakes since i’m not a native plus i”m still working on getting my english style better! i like what i come up with all the same, i’ve improved a lot these past two years, and my grammar isn’t that bad i guess?

2. Why do you write fanfiction?

to do what developers didn’t do in the first place to make good use of my imagination, to cope with the fact that some characters don’t exist and i will never follow another one of their adventures, to forget about a boring real life...

3. What do you think makes your writing stand out from other works?

my writing doesn’t stand out lmaooo but i guess i’m always trying to focus on the character’s psychology, struggles and all that, so if someone likes my work, it’s ‘original’ bc it’s usually quite different from the usual stories where there are a lot of dialogues and interactions.

4. Are there any writers that inspire you?

i’ve been inspired a lot by @welcometogressenheller​ (i wish i could do as well as she does.....), @aceklaviergavin​ (kudos to you even if you never see that post and you probably don’t know who i am), and some others whose name i forgot (sorry!)

5. What’s the fic you’re most proud of?

i didn’t write much but i guess that my latest fics are really nice (There’s No Light In You Anymore, and the whole Faith series on AO3). also my big project “Now That You’re Gone”, i’m glad i’ve been able to write that much for it and i intend on continuing as soon as i find the motivation!

6. What element of writing do you find comes easily?

pain, struggles and all that comes with it as long as it’s in the character’s mind, because beware here you step in a dark space

also basically any other comment where people tell me they like what i write. i love that writers feel the need to take some time reviewing my works bc i need constant validation

28. How well do you handle criticism when it comes to your writing?

well i’ve never really received ‘harsh’ criticism or anything, save for some very rare remarks on my grammar so i guess i don’t know? at first it’s always sad to see that what i’ve done isn’t perfect but i guess it’s impossible to be perfect so i’m really happy that people take some time to underline what looks wrong to them

29. Have you ever gone outside of your comfort zone for a fic? How did it turn out?

currently trying to with shattering secrets and it’s actually a great way to improve!

i have 1) annabell sycamore, des’s wife, whose personality fits very much mine. she’s a playwright, spends lot of her time writing and acting in front of des AND WITH des. also she’s a very realistic person and some people usually tell her that she’s being too pessimistic 

2) aurelia from the shattering secrets and on her i really cannot say much... if anyone’s read this far it would be so nice if you could give SS a shot by the way!!

i don’t translate my works from my original language to english, i write straight in english. i spend a lot of time making sure i haven’t done any grammatical mistakes, checking the definition and the use of some words i’m not sure about, and sometimes it’s quite a pain and it can be also very discouraging bc i end up believing what i write comes from a random internet dictionary while deep down i know it’s not true but hey what can i say. huge insecurities laid bare here.

Just when he’d thought he’d finally be able to change things, Descole had been ready to sacrifice himself to save Luke. And then…

Then everything just collapsed.

Circus AU - A Summary

Ok, so as a few of you peeps might know, @eli-is-tired​ and I are working to write a PL fanfic based on an AU we’ve made. I’d like to summarize the plot here for y’all to enjoy!

Back in the days of old, when the Azran still walked the Earth, they created a weapon, a monster of unstoppable power to protect their civilization from those that might harm it. The Azran Beast.

The creature served as a tool at first, but the more it grew, the stronger and more uncontrolled it became, until the Azran could no longer control it's power, and it destroyed everything they had worked so hard to create.

The last of the Azran managed to seal away the beast, binding it's spirit to an ancient artifact with their final, dying breaths; the Mask of Chaos.

And so, a whole civilization, reduced to ashes by this monster, was finally laid to rest.Though they say that the Azran Beast still lives on in the mask, it's spirit restless and eager to escape. Those that dare to wear it may channel the beast's power, but with every time they do, they risk being consumed by it completely, and awakening the Azran Beast once again.

So in this AU Randall drops Henry down the ravine instead of Hershel dropping Randall. Randall is scared, guilty and ashamed so he runs away from home with the mask.

He meets Desmond, the young (Probs 19-20ish) owner of a local circus and get to know each other. Randall decides to stay with him because it'd be a fresh start, and he has nowhere else to go. Eventually, they end up getting in a relationship which goes horribly because Desmond is an awful person in this AU (I made this before I started to like him and I am now very slightly regretting this but whatever).

Randall soon discovers that wearing the mask gives him wings (Unbeknownst to him, this is because he’s chanelling the power of the Azran Beast through the mask). Desmond makes Randall use that in the circus so he can perform too.

Another thing about the mask is that it also makes the wearer very prone to suggestion (This is due to the fact that the Azran Beast was originally created to obey and be used as a tool) so Desmond manipulates Randall into pushing himself further during performances and prevents him from leaving.

So Randall dresses up and performs in the circus, while Desmond revels in the profit he reels in. 

However, over time, Randall starts to become less and less human as he wears the mask more and more. His teeth sharpen, his hair slowly starts to turn grey, he grows wings, his mind deteriorates and his behaviour becomes more and more animalistic.

Unknown to him...

He's slowly turning into the Azran Beast 

(So a sidenote is that in this AU the Stansbury squad don't actually know each other before the events of the circus.)

One day Hershel and Luke (Hershel adopted Luke in this AU), who live nearby, go to see the circus when it's passing through. After the show, Hershel, curious as ever, goes out back to investigate because surely there can't really be people with wings and magic and stuff, right? He finds out that they actually do have said supernatural abilities and Hershel is shocked and thrilled, and so becomes friends with the performers. Luke becomes friends with Crow, another performer at the circus. Luke keeps coming back to visit him, and they quickly become best friends.

There’s more stuff, but that’s the basis of it without giving away too many spoilers. I hope that all made sense.

My Create Original PL Au’s Challenge

Cookie: If there’s one consistent thing I do with stories that I like, it’s making au’s. Fox is never surprised whenever I conjure a new one up, and she’s always joking that she hates it when I do it because she starts to get intrigued. I wondered how creative I could be with making PL au’s, so I decided to make this challenge where I make a bunch of em and just see how original I can be.

Here’s how it’s gonna work: I’m gonna make a list of au ideas and try to be as original as I can AND try to make it appealing to the audience. If anyone sees this, then give me a 1-10 rating on creativity. I will warn you, this is VERY long. Some of them are pretty sad, and I have no regard for spoilers. With that, here we go!(NOTE: I’m not doing this for any credit, I just wanted to test myself.)

1. Goodbye, my guardian angel. In the near end of AL(around the time Descole runs away to the Azran Sanctuary with the key to the Azran and is intercepted by Bronev.), it is revealed that Aurora is not the Azran emissary, but instead, the Azran emissary is supposed to be a human of Azran descent and that she was supposed to protect him/her until the sacrifice was made. By grabbing the Azran key in it’s full completion, she can guarantee that the emissary is none other that Luke Triton, which explains that his ability to talk with animals was a trait once shared by the Azran due to complicated technology. Bronev orders Emmy to take Luke, just as before, but they don’t bring Aurora. Everything comes in full swing just like before, except that despite Emmy’s pleading, Bronev sacrifices Luke(ew, gory) and the golems are revealed. Everyone sacrifices themselves as before, in which Aurora revives them, all but except Luke, who didn’t die because of the lasers. Aurora knows of a different way to revive him, but it will kill her in the process. She’s still willing to do it, Luke wakes up, and the scene where he says goodbye to her is the same, except that she tells him to stop crying, as he should be happy that her true purpose was fulfilled.

2. Hershel Layton’s Father Instead of Layton’s dad being Bronev, his dad is actually the figure known as Jean Descole. Descole never figured out that Hershel was his son until he bumped into Desmond. For backstory, only Hershel’s dad was kidnapped by Targent, but by the orders of Targent’s leader, Bronev. Descole figures out that his wife died, and assumed that his baby boy, Desmond died as well, and became Bronev’s arch nemesis. In reality, Rachel lived for awhile before she got ill; Targent never laid a hand on her. She gives birth to Hershel, but dies during the process. Both babies are distributed by different families. Despite the huge family reunion in AL, Hershel disowns his father, but willingly accepts Desmond as his brother and fellow archaeology enthusiast.

3. Welcome to the Family, Clive When Clive’s parents die during the lab explosion, he is not adopted by Constance Dove, like what happened during the games. Instead, he is adopted by none other than………...Bill Hawks.

4. Brenda Triton becomes Brenda Layton Like the title says, Descole ends up killing Clark during LS, and Hershel gets stuck in a deep depression, feeling like the death of his friend was his fault, and that he made Luke lose his father. Brenda, with no way of making funds for herself, asks for a job from Dean Delmona, who makes her into a substitute teacher. She interacts with Hershel and his trio more often, and she shows a lot of gratitude to him and always does these nice things like clean his office(Because come on, children aren’t supposed to do that) or take over his class when he leaves. He enjoys her company, but he feels awkward. Going into Curious Village, Brenda takes care of Flora while the Professor is busy. When Flora is stranded in DB, Brenda comes to her aid and takes her home. At the end of DB, the Professor feels especially disappointed in himself, thinking that he really is betraying Claire after Antoine receives Sophia’s letter. However, at the end of UF, Hershel learns that Claire and Clark would not have wanted anything different than the both of them being together. After a some time, they both marry and Luke gets a new father and sister.

5. Just a Ghost in Your Head For the entire original trilogy, Luke is actually nothing more than the Professor’s imagination. Luke is meant to be there in order to represent the Professor’s true feelings and to have some company in his sad, painful adventures and mysteries. At the end of UF, the Professor doesn’t actually need Luke anymore, and Luke goes on a boat to “move away to America because of his dad’s job”, just like in the games. In relation to the prequel trilogy, it’s possible that Luke could have died in any three of the games, and that the Professor just conjured him up in his head after that in order to regain some sanity.(EXTRA NOTE: ME and my sis came up with this one after I saw a post about Luke Triton’s character where the person noted how Luke would sometimes express emotions that the Professor felt. I don’t know where it is though, I’m really sorry)

6. Triton Brothers Luke and Clive being brothers. In LS, at first Clive doesn’t pop up too much, but after noticing the comings and goings of his younger brother, crashes the party and eventually joins them. He doesn’t like the idea of Luke being on such “dangerous adventures” but what can ya do? In UF, Dimitri is the one with the giant I’m-gonna-destroy-London-yay scheme.
