Nothing Girl and My Advice are also released, and there’s more to come. 👀
This is your reminder that in the very Very VERY early stages of Epic the Musical, Jorge originally planned for the Iliad and the Odyssey to be in one musical together, with the first act being the Iliad and the second being the Odyssey. That was very early on though and was scraped in order to do justice to all the character and the story.

Hector, tamer of horses, prince of Troy, stood tall with shield upon arm and bronze helm agleam, his eyes fierce with fire, yet not without sorrow for behind him lay his city, trembling, and before him stood death, wrapped in the form of a man.

I don't think anyone has truly acknowledged how funny it is to be reading two absolutely tonally different things. I came across this concept when I remembered one of my favourite poems, "Solitude" by Alexander Pope.
Tumblr media
A sweet little poem about a man enjoying his peace and freedom on his own land.
Then, you get to the Illiad.
Tumblr media
TLDR; Homer loves BREASTS, BLOOD, AND BOWELS !!
The tonal shift is STAGGERING and it fills me with great joy.

I need them to get cracking on this shit. I need a fun Muppets parody of these stories right fucking now.
The Argonauts adaptation all the mortals are muppets. Only the gods are humans
The Iliad adaptation is that everyone is human. Only Achilles is a muppet
The Odyssey adaptation is that everyone is muppets. Only Odysseus is human
The Aeneid adaptation all gods are muppets and the mortals are humans
