Power Moons And Power Stars Are The Same Thing

In Super Mario Odyssey Cappy observes the Power Star and claims that it's basically a Power Moon but in a different shape. This could also be the case for other star-like objects like the Shines.

The also can change their shape to suit the situation from the looks of things. I say this because if you get a Power Star in the Mushroom Kingdom and add it to the Odyssey. Instead of coming out as a Power Star it comes out in the for of a Power Moon and is added to the Odyssey.

Edit, in The Art Of Super Mario Odyssey on page 306 we are told Power Moons and Power Stars are indeed the same thing just in different shapes.

Koopeach Concept Art

In The Art of Super Mario Odyssey on page 354 there is art of a scrapped concept of Bowser having his own hat that allows him to possess others, like Mario does with Cappy. In this art Bowser takes control of Peach and art of what is labeled as Koopeach, basically an actual Bowsette.
